“The Rolling Stones are truly the greatest rock and roll band in the world and always will be,” Dylan once famously said of his contemporaries. It's hard to disagree with that statement. After all, The Rolling Stones created the blueprint for what a great rock 'n' roll band should sound and act like.

I don't know who researched this, but there is a lot of misinformation. For instance, I've just watched the section about Wild Horses and how it was Mick's song about Marianne. It was actually Keith's song about leaving his kids to go touring. Yes, Mick re-wrote the lyrics and it became about his breakup but it was inspired by Keith leaving his son Marlon.

There's no such thing as Dad Rock. It's just a phrase invented by younger people to make them feel better about their inconsequential rock. This great music from the 60s and 70s rock era will outlast us all.
When asked why he had kept playing in the band for so long, Keith said because he enjoyed it. That's only a partial answer because the truth is also - because of the (BIG) money they make. They make more than any other band, probably including the Beatles, although it seems to me that McCartney is worth more than any other musician. But you'd have to include his incomes from other non-Beatles sources of income. It'd be difficult to try and figure out how much any Beatle or Stone makes just from being in their particular band. The Stones have surpassed EVERYONE as far as income and profit from touring/performing.
Interesting documentary but there is way too much focus on Mick and Keith, with barely a mention of Charlie and Bill. The Rolling Stones are essentially those four men with the addition of Mick and Ronnie later. Without Charlie's fantastic drumming, and Bill's equally wonderful bass playing, the Stones would never have sounded like they do. It's a very deep partnership.
I don't think "Come on" was a hit ANYWHERE! they refused to even play it live ever. WAIT A SECOND at 9:45 I heard a whole different story of how I Want to be your Man-came to the Stones-you all know that story, most do, about them meeting at a bar or show and supposedly the two Beatles finished the song then and there! after mick said they needed new material.
Just to say a few words. This documentary was positively made together with the Saarchi gallery exhibition “Exhibitionism”... I was there I bought VIPpass on July 2015 and finally went in April 2016 when it opened ( so yes I am a FAN, considering I was traveling to London from Italy), but still I clearly had in mind a thing. The Stones celebrated their 50th anniversary with a very LOW KEY ( but beautiful exhibition) called Stones 50 at Somerset House in London- needless to say was there too... but then about the same time Bowie was doing his exhibition (Bowie IS) at the V&A museum, setting what is called a standard for any rock memorabilia exhibition to come after ( I.e. PinkFloyd’s “their mortal remains - boring borderline to necrophiliac- show later always at V&A)... As you can imagine I am a rock enthusiast lucky enough to travel to London and attend those shows , or even more obscure rock memorabilia events (such as photo exhibitions at Snap gallery), but still I think that Rolling Stones exhibitionism show was alike a “jealous” answering to Bowie’s very SEMINAL show who was the cornerstone for all the others...
How these 5 twisted and damaged musicians got together and came up with the Ingenius master pieces these cats came up with is beyond human understanding.
Just as a small comment coming from a guy who's on his way to work, yes the STONES are and will be known as the best Band in Rock history but don't forget theres many more still out there way older than the stones like the CHIEFTANS from Ireland and all the African vocal bands and all the Gospel Bands throughout the south Than ks
Ron Wood Played bass in the original Jeff Beck Group along with Rod Stewart, and then played guitar in The Faces also with Rod Stewart, after Steve Marriot Left the Small Faces. Then they just became The Faces.
95% of these documentaries on the stones seem to always skip over the impact of the song As tears go by I don't get it. I know faithfull released it first but it was the first jagger/richards song they wrote as a collaboration.
@@Methilde I was responding to that idiot in the video saying that songs like Ruby Tuesday were pissing off Keith Richards because songs like that were "not me." I was just pointing out that it's one of the few songs of that era where Keith wrote all the lyrics and most of the music.
The Beatles , ok , they had a few decent songs , most were lardy dardy Sunday hymes beefed up a bit and they only toured for , I think, 3 years or so . On the other hand you have the Stones , rock & roll gods , need I say more ?
Dick Taylor who was playing with Keith and Mick in a blues college teenager band was the first bassist of the Stones and when he leave them he created the Pretty Things.
The Stones golden period was 1968 to 1974 , the albums following that period was disappointing to say the least . They have been living off these albums and 60s singles ever since and obviously their live shows .

They weren’t blown away by Bill Wyman. Wait yea they were but with his gear!!!
Very underrated bass player.
Initially the gear, then his playing.
The Quill
Mick and Kieth claimed songwriting but Brian wrote Paint it Black She’s a rainbow Yesterday’s Papers Brian and Charlie made the band
No he never he cane up with parts for it.
No he didn't, he came up with a few bits but he never actually wrote anything himself
Just your imagination :)
Está banda británica es de mi infancia
I don't think "Come on" was a hit ANYWHERE! they refused to even play it live ever. WAIT A SECOND at 9:45 I heard a whole different story of how I Want to be your Man-came to the Stones-you all know that story, most do, about them meeting at a bar or show and supposedly the two Beatles finished the song then and there! after mick said they needed new material.
Que fiera ese trabajo empacar asetatoz
Who's that in beginning ? Looks like a shape shifted Jagger...

Beatles wrote sentimental love songs if you preferred that
Yes like A Day In The Life, I Am The Walrus and Helter Skelter. 😁

❤I ❤❤😂😂😂yeah man xx
How these 5 twisted and damaged musicians got together and came up with the Ingenius master pieces these cats came up with is beyond human understanding.
stones is stones
Um...The fabs went to India after Pepper, February 1968, where they basically wrote the White Album. Otherwise, fun doc.
Literally Royalty from the Peerage, music from the CROWN, if you really believe rock n roll
comes out of the LSE London School of Economics.
Just as a small comment coming from a guy who's on his way to work, yes the STONES are and will be known as the best Band in Rock history but don't forget theres many more still out there way older than the stones like the CHIEFTANS from Ireland and all the African vocal bands and all the Gospel Bands throughout the south
Than ks
You have an excellent movie and then you say Ron Wood was an x-Byrd. As the Stones once said "Come On"
Pretty sure it was BIRDS , English band. Not to be confused with the American group.
Ron Wood Played bass in the original Jeff Beck Group along with Rod Stewart, and then played guitar in The Faces also with Rod Stewart, after Steve Marriot Left the Small Faces. Then they just became The Faces.
@@markhaus2830 That Jeff Beck Group album is a must have.
It was The Birds and I'm pretty sure they made a single that sank....then they realised that there was a band called The Byrds....
@@robertdillon6821 Ignorants are talking to much.
Ronnie Woods ex Byrds guitarist, surely you mean ex faces.
16:47 possibly the most 60s thing ever???
Sell your soul to the. Devil he gives you everything you see....
But when the devil comes collecting you'll be paying for eternity"....
Mick n Keef havent paid for anything yet

How cool would it be if the stones did a song about the beatles?
Keith loves reggae... (41:00)
95% of these documentaries on the stones seem to always skip over the impact of the song As tears go by I don't get it. I know faithfull released it first but it was the first jagger/richards song they wrote as a collaboration.
36:12 Look how ABSOLUTELY beautiful Mandy Smith is here....How old was she here? what year was this
I love Gimme Shelter
20:05 - Bullshit. Keith wrote Ruby Tuesday without any of Mick's input so he definitely wouldn't have said that.
In an other hand Mick wrote Brown Sugar alone, so...
@@Methilde I was responding to that idiot in the video saying that songs like Ruby Tuesday were pissing off Keith Richards because songs like that were "not me." I was just pointing out that it's one of the few songs of that era where Keith wrote all the lyrics and most of the music.
@@globalmonkey007 OK, i understand :)
The ex Birds guitarist Ronnie Wood decided to join them? Ex Birds? What is he talking about? Ronnie was in the Small Faces and Jeff Bck Band
The Beatles , ok , they had a few decent songs , most were lardy dardy Sunday hymes beefed up a bit and they only toured for , I think, 3 years or so . On the other hand you have the Stones , rock & roll gods , need I say more ?
the real bad boys of that scene was ,the pretty things ,,people forget that
Never heard Stones pretend to be "the real bad boys", they just don't care.
Keith kicked a Scotsman in the face from the stage that was spitting on Brian, went to trial for LSD, Stones were the real rhing.
Dick Taylor who was playing with Keith and Mick in a blues college teenager band was the first bassist of the Stones and when he leave them he created the Pretty Things.
Mick's Great Condicion 22:37
The Stones golden period was 1968 to 1974 , the albums following that period was disappointing to say the least . They have been living off these albums and 60s singles ever since and obviously their live shows .
