Favorite band. Keef’s my favorite musician ever. Total likable, badass, original. His riffs, open G tuning, nasally telecaster tone helped make Rock & Roll. Really listen to his rhythms.. he epitomizes blues rock rhythm guitar. Don’t ignore his lead licks either. Legend🌹
Yes, but sadly, his age for last several years really prevented him from playing as he did in the past. But, I give him credit for keeping busy in the same way Sylvester Stallone's movie "Rocky Balboa" portrayed the aging title character as not letting go of what he valued despite his age. It was a decent movie, but not entirely realistic, of course. Les Paul (RIP) and Keith provide a real example of sticking w what makes life worthwhile in the midsts of the limitations time brings to us all eventually. Good on them.
@@326cher Unless you've already read it, get Keiths book "Life" which shows a whole side to Keith many know little about. Really fascinating. The story behind a little dog he named Rasputin is a real heart string puller! There's lots more to Keith than guitarist in the Stones!!
That's the thing about Ronnie Wood. He can play all Brian's parts, do a pretty good Mick Taylor, and he has his own style. Plus he can get along with Keith.
I agree with youb100 %, the thing that a lot of people miss who have a strong preference for mick taylor is that ronnie has a much bigger and stronger stage presence which is a great asset for their live shows
Love how Keef, turned his sound off before he whacked the guy. If you watch he has to turn it back up when he starts to play again. That's the move of a pro's pro!
Just my take on it, The total respect for each other even through the rough times and bringing with that the commitment of a brotherhood to give their unmistakable sound as one of the greatest rock bands in the world, 61 and love the Stones 👍🇦🇺
BEST LINE IN THE WHOLE INTERVIEW: Keith explaining Darryl Jones's role in the STONES, " Well, Darryl geesh, he was in a band with Miles Davis, Darryl's a REAL musician ... I'm a ROLLING STONE ... two different things man."
Keef. Absolutely fabulous. He has passed the “nine lives of a cat” stage very comfortably. When he goes there will be perpetual mourning, not just the 3 days!!!
I was at the Forum show in '75, we ditched school to buy the tickets, my buddy's dad had Laker season tickets so he impersonated his dad over the phone, and hooked us up. 12.50 per seat for 4 seats. Still one of my top 10 shows after all these years. What a phenomenal bunch of musicians. Thanks for posting this!!
Mick and Keith thank you for 50 something years are you guys been rocking and rolling thank you for you guys showing these bands how was done how you treat other band members so keep on rocking for another 50 or more years we love you Keith we make fun of you but we love you
Once went to a party at Muddy Waters' house, and woke up at Howlin Wolf's house...don't know how that happened. That's an instant classic, if you ask me. Total Keith.
2012 - One of my favourite interviews with Mick and Keith, esp Keith. He shares so much interesting stuff about the workings of the group and their music.
Good hearing either one. Two different perspectives from two different worlds. And they are in two different worlds, but they they collide and orbit together, it's great for the rest of us.
He was told he was too old lol andrew oldham said pop bands cant have more than a 5 piece band ...moran What an amazing boogie woogie piano player......just ask led zeppilin too.....the 6th rolling stone
I tend to believe Bill Wyman about the Stones beginnings, there is a video he answers those questions and more on here somewhere. Like there now being a placard placed at the train station where Mick and Keef met all those years back and Mick had the stack of Blues albums, Bill gets pretty upset and says if they were going to be truthful they would have that plaque removed. I believe what he has to say about it. That it was Brian's and Ian's Band in the beginning.
Long live the Rolling Stones! Keith is the real deal. Loved that he protects Mick and doesn't miss a beat. Been a fan since the 60s.Saw them in 75. Have tickets to see them in Austin 2020...worth the wait.
Well done!! Really enjoyed that. I live in Australia and the first time I saw the Stones was in early '65 when they were the support act for Roy Orbison!! I was pushed forward with the surging crowd and grabbed Keith's leg.. he just looked down at this 15 yr old girl and winked and smiled and he never missed a beat ...that's when my love affair with the Rolling Stones bagan... thank you for posting this x♥
I've been a hard core Stones fan for about 40 years and thought this was an excellent documentary. Mick and Keith both seem very candid and they each offer a lot of insightful and interesting information. It's cool to hear a few of their thoughts and opinions on some of the idiosyncracies of what it's like to be a Stone, produce & perform such huge concerts, determinig set lists, etc. Thanks for posting.
So cool Keith hits this guy with his guitar & gets on with playing right after ! Amazing! 🎶🎸🎤🥁 I love hearing their stories- I feel like I have a lifetime to catch up on!
These 34 minutes are telling more about the Stones and Rock music in general than any other documentary. Anyhow how long there are. I would love to hear the complete recordings of these interviews. So nice to hear how Keith talks about music. With such love. And Mick gives a great view what it's like to be a frontman of a Rock'n Roll Band. "He (Daryl Jones) is a real musician. Me, I am just a Rolling Stone."
Keith is more coherent in this video than any other time I've seen him. He gives some good information and personal opinions and insights looking back He's a much better speaker than other times I've seen him. Cool video.
+Mike Wiseman Yeah - Keef is amazing here. I'd always wondered how he managed to write 'Life' but, yes, he actually remembers stuff! He also provides great insight into Stones music. Mick's commentary is actually much less interesting.
I've noticed that too and not only in this clip. It must be because it's about making music, which is the only thing that's really important to him, while most of the time he's asked about things like his relationship with Jagger, money, sex and drugs (abuse). Important for Public Relations, but not what he got into music for.
Watch 'under the influence'. It's like this all the time. The muddy waters references and all that. He can't stop talking about them :D Even when it's not even in the question haha. He loves to ramble on I think he was much more shy in his heydays because he was drugged up and really didn't want to be seen or spoken to. He's always been shy you can tell in 'Life'. It's because of his childhood.
In his younger years he was always stoned, high or drunk or all at the same time, but i'm sure that the drug years are over for at least 15 years or so, and drink less booz than before, because you can't do drugs and booz forever. So he did sober up alright and we can even understand what he says these days. Well, even the bad ass aren't such a bad ass when they grow older, and there's nothing wrong with that, and that's i like keith more than before, because he changed from a "i don't give a fuck" atitude to a great guy that does give a fuck about life, family, so his story wil be one with a happy end for sure.
When Keith talks about the "transference of energy" that goes on between the band and audience, I can really relate to that. I've been to so many concerts where you can feel the energy, extreme and raw, and you throw it up to the band. The band starts adding licks and jamming more and it really gets intense. Many times I've looked over at somebody during a concert who's up and dancing like I am and we lock eyes. We both know that we're both experiencing the exact same moment together and FEEL it. No other band was as good at this as the Rolling Stones. You can tell immediately if Mick or Keith is really feeling it.
There's always been something about the English rock bands that caught my ear when I was in grade school during the 1960's and as early as first grade when I heard songs like Satisfaction or Get Off Of My Cloud or the Kinks You Really Got Me, All Day & All Of The Night, The Beatles You Really Got A Hold On Me or Bad Boy Junior Behave Your Self, those rhythm's in those songs just grabbed your attention and to this day they just won't let me go to date in a good way. I saw the Stones when I was 15 years old in 1975 - I saw the Kinks 1977 and the Stones 1989 Steel Wheels and I when I hear Mick & Keith reminisce about the 1975 tour among other things I have the same memories coming from a fans stand point listing to their music changing and evolving from the Brian Jones, Mick Taylor and Ron Wood era and it's all good. Following the Rolling Stones for a life time just makes me glad that I'm still around to enjoy it and for their beginning here until the end and still doing what they do best ! Excellent Glimmer Twins Retrospect .
My 1st concert was Steel Wheels in 1989 in Los Angeles i was blown away Absolutley Amazing i loved it Cant wait til July for Hackney Diamonds @So Fi Stadium so excited, so amazing!!!!
@13:34 ..."the damn thing stayed in tune...this is the greatest advert for Fender "........THAT is a rock story! (when discussing hitting the guy who ran on stage)
1973 Brussels......we were there 😎😎😎 Forest National....you guys were in the groove!!👏👏🍾🥂Billy Preston on keyboards, Trevor Lawrence on Sax, Mick Taylor on lead and slide 🎸 and Steve Madaio on Trumpet 🎺👏👏👏👏man was it amazing 👏👏👏🥂
...And Keith's also a good dad and has been a loyal husband to just 2 main loves of his life, despite all the pressures of being a Rolling Stone, touring, long absences from home etc. And being a brilliant musician, song writer, showman etc in his own right, but overshadowed by the glamourous show pony front man, Mick. But, some of us fans have a bit of musical discernment and can also hear the skill etc of other members of a great band, not just focus only on the obvious goal point, the lead vocalist. You're great, Keef. Keep on rocking, playing those heart wrenching blues licks and stuff. You're like a living, walking riff...Reaches deep into my sad soul...Love your music.
Mine was when I was 6 (1967) and my older sister had High Tides and Green Grass ( their first greatest hits album). Been a fan ever since , 57 years and counting. Seen them 6 times. Cheers from Montreal
I once went to a party at Muddy Water's house.. And miraculously woke up at Howling Wolfe's house... I still have no idea how that happened??? Obviously, some kind friend's transported me... classic Keith man...
Mick's amazing today in concert. I was going to say 'for his age' but even if he was in his 20s, to cover the stage, dance and sing he puts younger bands to shame. He's a medical miracle. To be nearly 73 and still be so energetic is amazing. He obviously works out and takes good care of his health nowadays, has cut out smoking etc. He sounds better live now than he did in the 70s. All of them are trailblazers, why should they stop now? If they couldn't put on a decent show, yeah they should quit, but they are better than ever. In my opinion anyway.
As great as he is, Keith remains under appreciated for his love of music, the blues in particular, and his willingness to bring it to the world live, as only The Rolling Stones can…and do. Thank you, Stones, you make life livable.
Nice to hear Keith talking about playing with Brian. I know Brian was quite difficult at times to work/be with but it’s refreshing to hear the positive things for a change. I like all 3 guitarists in their own right. Keith is smart enough to let them excell where he doesn’t. That’s why this band has lasted so long and yeah cause of Charlie too. Of course. Lol
all genius,s have a great sense of humour long live keith a real great guitarist totally original with his epic tuning and playing style ,,, class is the only word for him
The greatest advert for Fender! 😂. And Start Me Up! An anthem in San Antonio for the Spurs for a decade! 🙌🙌. Fabulous documentary! Thanks for the upload. The Greatest Rock n Roll Band in the WORLD!
THIS MAN,This Genius,Has a FANTASTIC WAY of describing, Difference of Guitar Player's,Cause HE IS THE RIFF MASTER,RILLING STONES,FOREVER!!!!!! Walter B. LOVE THIS MAN,LOVE,ALL THE ROLLING STONES.!!!!!
Definitely Keith is more the true chronicle of the Stones. "I do have a weapon in my hands," "A sports anthem," "woke up at Howlin' Wolf"s." Great stuff Keith. I really liked Keith's solo album too. Too bad with Brian Jones I think he contributed so much. They said he actually sort of taught Keith and made him play things over and over to get them right. Great band. Brian even plays sitar on "Fade to Black." What a choice for a rock and roll record.
I liked when Kieth said certain songs grew on em .Over the years Kieth has grown on me i wasnt always a Stones fan. You got to the the volume of work this band has produced.
No interview with Keith could ever not start with the lighting of a Marlboro or the opening of a Jack Daniels bottle. Sort of like saying grace before dinner.
Qu'est ce que c'est bon de voir ces images de concerts, avec les commentaire de Keith et Mick. Je suis sur un nuage de bonheur. Allez je me remets encore une fois la vidéo, c'est trop bon. It's only rock and roll, but for ever.
16:53 Roundhay Park at Leeds 1982 brings back memories.....i was there!! Tickets just £20 ($26). Weather was great all day but yeah....masses of people. Support band was George Thorogood & the Destroyers. I'd never heard of him but he strutted out on stage, white Gibson with gold plated fittings, jeans and stacked heel snakeskin boots. I juts thought, "oh God here we go what a flash sod, bet he's crap"......then he launched into guitar riffs that just blew me away, and kept going one song after another. Soon as i got back home i phoned around local record shops asking if they had any GTD albums (remember this was back in the good ol' days of vinyl!). I found just one album in one shop and raced over to buy it. I asked the store owner if GTD had done any other albums, which he had.....so i ordered the lot! Seen George a few times since he often came over to UK.
That was awesome. Saw the Stones for the first time in 72 I think it was at MSG with Stevie Wonder. Had a crazy experience that same tour at the Spectrum in Philadelphia trying to get tickets there . It was a mob scene with helmeted police on horses and on foot . For some insane reason they were selling tickets out of one ticket window. Anyway after hours of being squished in this crowd and only being two or three people away from the ticket window these cops come and yank me out of line . I was furious and turned around to look at them. I knew if I took one step towards them they beat the hell out of me . They had their billy clubs all ready. So I turned back around left went down town to a department store where I knew I could get Leon Russell tickets and I did . Another funny part about it when leaving the department store I bought a Bhagavad Gita for $5 from some Krishna dancers . It was a wild day . Ended up seeing them at MSG because a girl I knew had an extra ticket for me. Fun memories after all of these years 🙏👌☮️😊
I'd forgotten that "Start Me Up" was the first song I ever played to a crowd in (an excuse for) a band. I was 16, and it was at the Lilac Festival in Lisbon, NH. Me and my brothers and sister were SO glad when our Mom told us we were moving back to Connecticut! Nowadays I can appreciate the White Mountains much more then back then.
So clever that they curated this collection which captures the apex or rock music. Keith mentions technology and how it enhanced their live shows. I like the sloppyness in between. I'm down with entropy. Too much tech no bueno for rock. It gets sort of away from the earnestness.
The Stones have always been the band for me and I think as good as Ronnie is he has never been able to outplay Mick Taylor. Seen over a dozen times and enjoyed every minute. Thanks for the days of pleasure.
The cigarette thing was pretty much pushed on everybody back in those days...even the Beatles smoked. Rebel Kids smoking cigarettes....it was what other kids wanted to see. I hate the tobacco industry...but Im glad Keith and the boys were blessed with a long life ....Keith and Ronnie still smoke. When I was in the Army during he Vietnam War...we would get free cigarettes in our rations every day...scared young men looking cool by smoking cigarettes. Enough of my soap box..been rocking to the Stones since I heard "Its All Over Now" back in the beginning
Ronnie's quit a long while now. He contracted lung cancer. Operated on and apparently all good.... but a he said "50 years heavy smoking... there has to be some consequence." Mind you.... Keith reckoned that quitting showed a "total lack if conviction". NONE of which shenanigans has anything to do with music. Glad they're still doing it and when they finally stop it will be a case of "Good night Ladies and Gentlemen - that WAS Rock n Roll!"
I ALSO LOVE THEM PLAYING ON THE FLAT BED TRUCK , IT WAS CHARLES IDEAL TO DO THAT , I AM SURE THE STONES FANS KNOW THAT , THEY ARE STILL AMAZEING , DURING THERE PRESS CONFESS , START ING WITH STEEL WHEELS , THE HOT AIR SHIP FOR THE LICKS , EVEN MICK DRIVING AN OLD CADDLIC OVER THE BROKLYN BRIDGE
Thanks To the Amazing Telecaster ... stay Tuned after Kissing & Wacking off fan on Stage ... Lovely KEEF. ... I could stay Hours listening Him ... what a great Cool Cat ....

Mine too Cheryl, this mini doc is my "escape" 35 mins once a week, I miss Charlie terribly RIP, but a world without Keef I don't want to even contemplate, my idol my hero
I love this stuff. I just heard Keith say,"Mick, you can't say fukkr anymore.". I think the Stones wore out the censors! I mean, "Brown Sugar"! Played daily, for years!! On AM Radio!? I think that might have been the "checkmate". Hell, I get a strike on UA-cam for mentioning an adult cam site! Lol. I'm not sure what the other strike was for.
The best guitar weaving I have ever heard is between Keith and Mick Taylor on Ya Yas so what's Keith talking about? 13:02 Keith's sunglasses are about to take off on their own!
***** ... hm - sure thang. Such a great loss, missing a musician- allways cleaver- beyond grip. Insead he now have to beare all this predictible basslines- with a wryly smile; shit what- success continues-never ends....
I think Keith is generally a gracious soul , Bill is a touch bitter about Jagger & Richards and he never compliments them, unless on occasion someone has criticized the stones entity or compared the stones unfavourably to other groups then he takes it personally as a (ex) Rolling Stone ....apart from that Bill will regularly moan about Mick & Keith getting too much credit.
Favorite band. Keef’s my favorite musician ever. Total likable, badass, original. His riffs, open G tuning, nasally telecaster tone helped make Rock & Roll. Really listen to his rhythms.. he epitomizes blues rock rhythm guitar. Don’t ignore his lead licks either. Legend🌹

Can definitely feel what Keith is talking about here. Brown Sugar from "Brussels" is just frantic. Amazing.
" A good riff is a good riff & I'll give it a good whack!! " You certainly do Keith!
...And Keith's also a good dad and has been a loyal husband to just 2 main loves of his life, despite all the pressures of being a Rolling Stone, touring, long absences from home etc.
The Rolling Stones, I'm liking them more than 40 years... and The Stones are in my bones... yes they are... hooh, hoooh, hoooh, yeaah :-)
Richard Wolter mine, too :-)
@@huggedbyasmile Yeah,Most DEFINITELY!!!! Walter B.Memphis.
Still Life album / VHS was my introduction to the Stones. My fondest memories of the band!
In my opinion anyway.
michelle88960 /in short I completely agree with Michelle.
100 % true
Now 75 & the boys on another World Tour Road! This is much more than "It's Only Rock & Roll"!
still puffin tough ;)
Saw them last Monday and they were fantastic!
Thank you very much Keith for turning me on to the guitar. Hampton 81 baby!!!! :)
Keith is cool as fuck, all what he says here sounds honest and I love to listen to his stories
As great as he is, Keith remains under appreciated for his love of music, the blues in particular, and his willingness to bring it to the world live, as only The Rolling Stones can…and do. Thank you, Stones, you make life livable.
Keith---that tele was a damn good smacker. Classic
Keith is my favorite Rocker!!!
Of course. Lol
this is the most sincere and informative I have ever seen both Mick & Keith
Wonderful jurnal, i am the rolling Stones fans, very happy watching this, Stones is super amazing group music in the world❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️✌️
all genius,s have a great sense of humour long live keith a real great guitarist totally original with his epic tuning and playing style ,,, class is the only word for him
Nothing beats a Fender Telecaster. 🙌🙌
saw the very first appearance in USA on an afternoon tv show... it started my guitar playing bout 55 years ago & still pluggin away.
Sway is my favorite stones song but Goats Head Soup Is my favorite LP of theirs....Winter is just so great.
This video is really impressive and worth watching!.✈️
20:58 Was very glad to hear Keith sharing his thoughts about my favorite song of Stones.
Beksultan Kubenov p
It’s just such a beautiful song!
Love bigger bang album ..its a complete listen
The greatest advert for Fender! 😂. And Start Me Up! An anthem in San Antonio for the Spurs for a decade! 🙌🙌. Fabulous documentary! Thanks for the upload. The Greatest Rock n Roll Band in the WORLD!
THX Google Play, for creating this incredibly good documentary on an even more incredible ROCK n' ROLL band, The ROLLING STONES! 🙏🏼😃
There is so much musical knowledge imparted during this interview that young musicians would be foolhardy not to sit up and listen to this shit.
Fade to black is a song recorder by metallica on ride the lightning in 1984.
Paint it black is the name of the song you are reffering to.
You're right, my bad - it's been a while. But my comment about Brian still stands. He added a dimension that the Stones haven't had since he left.
Charlie Cross how on Earth can you say that a 22 year old burnt out dope head was a MASTER of ALL instruments?
@@CHlEFFIN master of the skin flute, zoynx!
@@henryraymond8676Brian ceased to function properly for the Stones from about 1967
I liked when Kieth said certain songs grew on em .Over the years Kieth has grown on me i wasnt always a Stones fan. You got to the the volume of work this band has produced.
What a phenomenal doc. Hear them talking "of the stage".
Keith saying you get your teeth into that. Brilliant
He's a real muscian, I'm a rolling stone.
There's backstage footage on UA-cam of the Stones while Thorougood is on stage. He jams backstage with Kieth and Ronnie and it's pretty damn good.
Fun memories after all of these years 🙏👌☮️😊
COME ON KEITH , LET SOME MORE OF THE COMPLETE LIVE STUFF , OUT ALONG WITH THE SONGS YOU HAVE
I'd forgotten that "Start Me Up" was the first song I ever played to a crowd in (an excuse for) a band.
Every time I see a interview with mr. Richards, I can relate to his words. He just seems so wise and collected.., always actually ❤️
This is a great example of that saying, #KeepingItReal.
Operated on and apparently all good.... but a he said "50 years heavy smoking... there has to be some consequence."
Mind you.... Keith reckoned that quitting showed a "total lack if conviction".
NONE of which shenanigans has anything to do with music. Glad they're still doing it and when they finally stop it will be a case of "Good night Ladies and Gentlemen - that WAS Rock n Roll!"
@Michael Breazeale Thank you for your service
12:56 ... Keith Richards is such a cool guy.
"This is the greatest advert for Fender" Yep, cool guy and just a bad ass, too
Frame 17:15 ...LOL! Too funny Keef!
yeah, he's got a fantastic humour and can laugh About his own Antics. That keeps a rock Superstar humble and human. ha
+'t Polder Cannabis Olie team, Great Handle!
Keith Richards is so funny and that raspy voice when he laughs he's still has that kid in him coming out.
Keith in good mood and so articulate! Thanks!
'This is the greatest advert for Fender...' such a Keith incident and such a perfect Keith comment, this is just so Keith.
Thanks To the Amazing Telecaster ... stay Tuned after Kissing & Wacking off fan on Stage ... Lovely KEEF. ... I could stay Hours listening Him ... what a great Cool Cat ....
this is an incredible doc on the them, cheers to the ones who made it, you kept some brilliant rants and comments and opinions, thank you
Keith Richards, the Vampire of Rock.
Any documentary on RS without highlighting Mick Taylor’s input is incomplete.
Keith talks about Taylor. Did you miss it?
Brilliant!!! Really great insight from the Glimmer Twins combined with some great footage---awesome job Google!
rocking ronnie wood always does good...
Keef should be a synonym for coolness..
+saurav daga, it is! 🕴
Should be??? It is in my book no question about it 😎
....’SHOULD be’...????:)
KEITH RICHARDS IS THE ROLLING STONES.. JUST LISTEN to his early release MAIN OFFENDER.. The sound you love is Keith Richards..

Don't forget Woody 😉
... as time goes by, lad... greetings from a nostalgic German, living in Thailand, enjoying your attached videos... (-:
excellent interviews! they gave the fans so much over the years!
Saw the 72 tour @MSG then steel wheels @ Shea Stadium still haven't recovered
Keef Mick your music helped me through the years more than you could imagine, your music taught me how to dance then think , and understand life h'res too you thank you for so much
Keith is great! He's always been my favorite Stone.
@keith Richards Keef has always been my favorite. Saw the Stones 7 times in Philly.
⭐️F~er ⭐️F~er ...!🕴
The best guitar weaving I have ever heard is between Keith and Mick Taylor on Ya Yas so what's Keith talking about? 13:02 Keith's sunglasses are about to take off on their own!
Have you heard- Keef praise Bill playing incredibly good on a song. Never tooo late...
Well...yeah....but it still stings the bastard that Wyman didn't left "the b a n d" in a coffin......
***** ... hm - sure thang.
Didn't Keith and Mick rip off Bill Wyman's for the riff to Jumping Jack Flash?
@@Dogdrum according to Bill ... obviously the band contributed to so many of the songs
