When he was in a coma at his final stages, his mother sat at his bedside reading all his fan mail to him. I for sure wrote him a letter thanking him for sharing his gift with us and the difference he made in our music!❤RIP
Saw Luther 7 times. Absolutely adored him ❤ cried my eyes out when he passed. Such a massive loss to the Soul industry. Will never be another like Luther
I, too, saw Luther perform anytime he came near to my area. I saw him at least six times and bought every album. Lisa Kevin and Ava were the best background vocalists assisting on the tours. Their wardrobe was also a big part of the excellence they all delivered in the performance. Luther was the best, and there's been no one that has come close to his standard and quality performances for me.
Lets not. He was singing about a man the entire time, but he had to hide it because people are heinous bigots. Luther was loved by so many fans but tnever got to be himself.
Literally, the greatest male vocalist of all time. Plus, a truly gifted songwriter and producer. I'm blessed to say that I was at this gig - Wembley Arena, London, UK. At one point, he told the crowd that he felt a flu bug coming on. But he pushed through it and gave his performance 💯 that night. Luther... imho, he was one of those "once in a generation" class of singer. He heralded the new era of the 1980s male RnB singer. And as most of us will be thinking and saying on here, there can be Never Too Much of Luther...
@TempeSoldier123 And, there was a link between them from when Luther covered If This World We're Mine with Cheryl Lyn. At the time, Marvin Gaye called Luther to give his appreciation. Marvin was an icon within music. Incredibly talented. Beautiful tone and he used every part of his voice so fluidly. Dazzling technique that was way ahead of his time. Gifted and socially conscious songwriter. Gone too soon and under such tragic circumstances. I guess, for whatever reason, Luther's performances just touch and energise me more. It's just a personal and subjective thing. But Marvin Gaye is truly special and unique. I love so much of his material - from the Motown era to Sexual Healing...
I saw Luther in person in NYC. Every time he started a song I jumped out of my seat and screamed to the top of my lungs, totally disturbing the peace 😳. Everyone was giving me the side eye, finally someone said she is a true Luther fan, leave her alone 😅. Eventually I calmed down, somewhat.
Words cant describe what he does for your heart, soul, mood. Simply the absolute best. My wedding first dance was Luther. Father/daughter dance was What the World Needs Now. What a cover. Makes ever his own like never before. Miss your talent. RIP Gods gracious gift.
