Yes. Not sure who got to u Mike, but they deserve a medal. U r truly embarking upon the life changing musical journey the last couple year. Thank you for your open mind and appreciation for all music, no matter what the stigma may be
Pretty sure you know this, but in the last 30 days, your subs has increased almost 20,000 (over 750%) and your views have gone up 680%, almost 1.2 million. Hell yeah!
String Cheese in 1999-2001 was as amazing a band as there ever was. 4.20.01 at the Fox Theater in St. Louis is one of the best concerts I've ever seen and I've seen a lot. That show, holy God.
I went to Portland Oregon for NYE one of those years, it was awesome. I think that was the first time I saw Yonder Mountain.... It’s hard to remember all the details of shows from twenty something years ago!
Hey man! I follow your stuff religiously and I'm totally loving your foray into Phish, String Cheese, Umphreys, WSP and the Dead. This is music that i have enjoyed for a while, and have dabbled with on the guitar. Your videos have helped me tremendously in understanding the theory behind what I have been playing. I have two suggestions for you based off your most recent videos. The first is this version of Shine, by the String Cheese Incident - ua-cam.com/video/X4_89JKu87s/v-deo.html. The song itself is fairly melodic, but they go far far beyond here. They intersperse the verses with amazing solos from bill nershi (acoustic) and kyle hollingsworth (synth). Around 8 minutes in they jump into a jam that starts off mild, but peaks with truly euphoric collective improvisation before they jump back into the song to conclude. The other is WSP covering Fire on the Mountain - Athens, GA 2011 Feb 10. It was taken off youtube and this is the only place i can find it. facebook.com/widespreadpanic/videos/10154286952827662/. This is after Michael Houser, but Jimmy Herring is sooo damn good on dead tracks, you have to listen to know what I mean. Thank you again for everything. I hope you enjoy the tracks even if you do not make videos on them
Yessssss! When I seen your first grateful dead I was hyped, and I've been hoping you'd go for some cheese ever since. Thank you so much for this one!!!!
@Guitargate Please do a review of Phish's The Great Went - Bathtub Gin 8-17-97(i promise that you, and all of your fans will LOVE this, and it will be your best video. PLEASE trust me!!!)
PLEASE.. i promise you that when you do a review of this song you will find yourself that much more in awe of phish(trey) than you already were and thought possible. Do this review not for me, or you, but for us all @Guitargate
This is my favorite band. they are great live. Please check out their Space Jam video. They have a great range from funk to bluegrass. try Rollover, Black Clouds, Born on the Wrong Planet, Texas, and Miss Brown's Teahouse.
I appreciate the comment in the beginning wholeheartedly....you are a teacher, so you should be throwing out everything you can to your students. That being said.....keep teaching the jam bands, the blues, the old rock, and the festival tunes! I think you're developing a following from the jam band circuit just by my observation of a bunch of comments and the songs being suggested to you. Rock on!
Don't know if you've experienced Keller Williams yet, but he's amazing & unique to say the least. He's played with SCI many times over the years. But by himself is where he truly shines imo. ua-cam.com/video/QHDupqwy-nA/v-deo.html
Sooooo many better songs in their catalog to review... it's fun live, but technically not one of their more difficult songs, nor does the bridge ever get that stretched out
Guitargate merchandise please. Help us spread the word brother!!!! First SCI was at the University of Vanderbilt activity center (aka, school gym). I was worried about sneaking my nightly supplies in and some dude walked by with a basketball and two racquetball rackets. I know the University of Vanderbilt had no idea what it was about to happen in the gym. It was an unannounced show that they did at the university of Vanderbilt circa 2001, around 80 people there??? The next night they went to the Alabama theater pretty crazy! Enjoy the rest of your day.
Thank you for another great video. I never heard of this band, and it's great that you're not sticking to one. I'm being introduced to great music. Awesome!
Billy Nershi... our wedding music marshall along with Drew Emmitt and Scott Law. Good stuff, when are we getting into the SCI bluegrass like Black Clouds or Up the Canyon or Restless Wind?
Man this is what the internet is made for. Great content man.... also, had anybody ever told you that you talk like and have the same facial expressions as Andy Powers? He is the Luthier for Taylor guitars. If you watch some of his stuff you might get it lol. I have a hard time separating it.
one of my favorite licks from cheese to mess around with is the song Texas. i live in florida and have seen a lot of cheese sets at hulaween \m/ Kang and Nershi are really fun to watch
We should've sent him the jam band packing order b4 he started...lmao Seems odd to see him doing SCI b4 ABB w Duane or even w Trucks/haynes Or Mule. I like him tho hes getting it. Peace
Seems like you're enjoying your dive into the jamband scene, I'm new to your channel and saw you watching Phish and Umphrey's and like how you saw just how tight they are as a band, let alone each individual being really really talented. Want to recommend Snarky Puppy's "We Like It Here" on UA-cam, it's jazz/rock fusion and not particularly strong on guitar stuff, but you'll see throughout that each player has their moment to shine, and when they're bringing the nasty all as one... it's nasty in the best way.
Love the midi acoustic lead by billy and at the end Keith says that was pretty good.. lol 😂 as I was typing you asked if it is midi acoustic,,😁 but you paused and missed the part where Keith says that
Love the vids NOT being negative but I def would have chosen a different song. This is like a more "Normal" structured song kind of like your first phish one that you did. Something like rollover or Black clouds (which they did a cool version with billy strings) shows a bit more virtuosity Is he wearing a cape?
I just want to know, of all the music you've newly become introduced to in this short amount of time, which band and guitarist is your favorite? And do you ever find yourself diving deeper into that music when you're off-air?
Look up ekoostik hookah utopia. Steve sweney is one of the best guitar players ever. He does techniques in his solos that I have never heard anyone do. Listen to the whole song. He rips out a solo at the end that is so intense!
Really enjoying the guitar lesson reacts, my man. Always glad to catch a new one. How about a short (~6 min) Chuck tune (Akimbo) for the moe.rons? ua-cam.com/video/IdPFyIrzch8/v-deo.html (the last 4 mins in this are just the crowd.)
My all time favorite band. Things a great song but a very different version of this song. Please look at some more. Rollover Windy mountain Dirk Miss Browns tea house Search I’ll go find links !!!
do a react to Twiddle video! they fucking jam with those sweet reggae undertones, with some sick riffs. i would love to see your take on them! especially their songs River drift, and Subconscious prelude!
Keep the jambands coming! this is fantastic
Aw man now some cheese!? You’re heading down a super righteous music path imo
Yes. Not sure who got to u Mike, but they deserve a medal. U r truly embarking upon the life changing musical journey the last couple year. Thank you for your open mind and appreciation for all music, no matter what the stigma may be
The jam scene finally getting the love it deserves! I swear the sharpest cats out there are playing in these improvisation-centric acts. Thanks again!
This channel just gets better every day! Thanks for the SCI! By far one of my favorites. Please try out umphreys mcgee glory
Pretty sure you know this, but in the last 30 days, your subs has increased almost 20,000 (over 750%) and your views have gone up 680%, almost 1.2 million. Hell yeah!
Mostly in part to jam bands. JAM BANDS FTW
This video was shared to a bunch of music festival group pages he gonna be having to perform with em at electric forest
Thanks for doing cheese . I’d love to see you do a live version of rivertrance!
Honestly, one of the best "reaction videos" you could do for SCI would be for the Black and White video from Mt Shasta 7/19/2000
Actually, this one may be even better
ua-cam.com/video/CCODxHMwuEo/v-deo.html
This "it is what it is" is another one of the better, available youtube videos for SCI
ua-cam.com/video/STcW8dkYZ8o/v-deo.html
Loved the shows there. I have the 1st & 2nd set "Scramble" Paintings of what was about my 50th Incident.
Tyler Johnson 2000 was the apex, for sure.
I think we’d all also love videos of you playing on top as well! Bc your playing/soloing at like 9-10 mins in sounded awesome!!
String Cheese in 1999-2001 was as amazing a band as there ever was. 4.20.01 at the Fox Theater in St. Louis is one of the best concerts I've ever seen and I've seen a lot. That show, holy God.

I’d love to hear a breakdown on Jimmy’s solos, they are beautiful!
Thanks Michael! Now check out any live "Rivertrance"
Yessssss! When I seen your first grateful dead I was hyped, and I've been hoping you'd go for some cheese ever since. Thank you so much for this one!!!!

I remember a sunny summer day in 2001 hearing this song for the first time. I love how it's evolved and i love your reaction to the song and the band.
I appreciate the comment in the beginning wholeheartedly....you are a teacher, so you should be throwing out everything you can to your students. That being said.....keep teaching the jam bands, the blues, the old rock, and the festival tunes! Hey ever heard of Keller Williams. I know he plays acoustic but worth checking out as well.
Wolfgang Keim he doesn’t just play acoustic, Keller is the Band!!!! Lol I would totally like to see a Keller reaction vid

I randomly listened to a live version of this song last night, from rhythm of the road vol. 1, and thought it would be great for your channel
Another song by another band that i love! Thanks for doing all the cool stuff!

Sooooo many better songs in their catalog to review... it's fun live, but technically not one of their more difficult songs, nor does the bridge ever get that stretched out
Every piece to the puzzle snaps tight in the groove. I close my eyes breathe deeply and let both feet move 🧀
The groove is “Fire on the Mountain” performed by the Grateful Dead. Written by Mickey Hart
Listen to his rap version
It’s this groove
would love to see some bass guitar videos for these jam bands as well
Great songs great analysis. I grew up on this, feels good to experience it like its fresh again! Live the dream
