I’ve been waiting so long for this.
easy blaze
Same! I used to Rick roll my friends and say that Kang had finally done a rig rundown. So cool it’s actually here
We love you and the rest of cheese. You guys are one of the greatest jam bands ever, but the thing that sets you apart from the rest is your creativity
That 5 string electric octave Mando is the Kanng cheese sound
Kimock & Kang rockin' the Two-Rocks from Sea to Shining Sea.
I litterly have zero idea what 80% of the things are saying mean, but I love it all the same
Big fan here from the deep south I've seen you guys a bunch it's always worth the price of admission
So cool to see what you're running Michael. Thanks man!
What a happy guy!
This dude has melted my face 13 times. Thank you
Alien Identity Revealed
Great stuff. Reminds just how very much I'm missing live music right now. Had a flashback of SCI NYE 2004 @ Radio City. Oh my God - what a night!!!
But what set of irons does Kang use? I’m waiting for the golf bag rundown...
Thanks MK. Been hoping to see this for a long time.. 20 years. " this one ". Dam. That signature Atlantis Sub H20 Tone remains a secret...
Cinninger and Bayliss use the black boxes. Tiiiigghht
Brother, you killed it in Austin.
Thanks for the rig rundown! Fun to hear your sounds and see your whole setup. Looking forward to hearing it live again. Best Wishes!
I appreciate the effects demonstrated here. Kangfirmed!
Everything here is just amazing. Great playing, cool dude.
You are full of surprises!!
Incredible
Love his tone and tasteful playing
This is so cool and what an incredible player who knows how to use all of this gear so musically!
Hell yes. Kang da Man😀
That was FUN...
your fly was open mike. rock on. thanks for the 7 hours of color happy new year
Dear Kang and the whole Cheese gang, we miss you so. Love, Everyone.
Michael Kang! My fellow violinists and mandolin player! We’ve been down similar paths and I had Scott make me a 5-string Baritone electric similar to yours but ended up selling it. I am talking with Rono now and giving another go at it. The only question I have is how is it you are not playing a 5-string violin? The reason I had the 5-string mandolin made was because I played 5-string violin and I wanted to extend the range lower. I thought I invited the idea of having a GDAEB tuned Baritone electric mandolin and i discovered you after searching for a luthier to build it! Thanks for sharing your rig! I just deconstructed mine and building back up from ground zero... haha You Rock!
KANG!!!

It’s “basically “ just a little guitar. Neat sounds Mr Kang.
"You can't get this" - Kang
“You will never get this. Wawaweewa”
Thanks Kang
A lot different than I thought, but it makes sense. Did not know he was behind some of the other crazy sounds I mistook for Kyle or Keith with a synth. The gamelan drum sounds are cool, but the MIDI steel drum effect needs to come back. The Ten Miles to Tulsa from 6/27/02 he did the solo with that steel drum effect, and it's just fantastic. This rig vid was great, but does not explain how he was getting such rich sounds back in 1997 before a lot of these effects were made. I guess the clean rig + the stereo effects rig + JonO was good for that period.
6/27/02 set 2 was the greatest Cheese I’ve ever witnessed!
So thats how Jerry got that awesome sound, he had a jerry box. Now I know.
GOLD✌️✌️
Sweet
Kang in there!
What really want to know is what is the rug of choice?
don't question it
just know that it really ties the room together
maaaaaaaaaaaan
I've seem videos and full shows of this band somehow i never caught on that it was an electric mandolin i was always thinking what kind of guitar is that.
Is that a Sarno Black Box you were talking about?
I love you; therefore, you have a poem.
Nice!
Hoping to see you guys at the Hog Farm Hangout!
u know we love the qtron
Is this the same Kang who collaborated with Bassnectar?
You rock
Very cool. Thanks for sharing. My only question is does the pedal effects board (with the different fuzz pedals, reverb, trem, whammy, etc) go through the effects loop or does it come out the Two Rock > Bogner cab.
Thomas Kish I believe that those are going through the front of the two rock and the only effects in stereo are the TC rack ones that he controls on that board to his left. I could be totally wrong though!
What is the bone machine pedal can’t find that?
Great run through! What's on the front of your Bogner cab?
More complicated than learning to play the instrument. That’s a lot to think about during a SCI show
Finally
I absolutely love cheese. Recently killing time, I researched all they're backgrounds and saw Kang is a product out of the same school jerry, kesey, leary, hunter all did those experimental test and he's now worth 94 million dollars, how the heck does that happen? that's more than twice the net worth of any of the other members. then the others have a very difficult background to even find? I don't know how to feel after discovering that all my favorite music was really manufactured by the other team, aka the C.I.A. kinda bums me out, i just can't even fathom living comfortably nonetheless 94 million dollars to sit on. holy baller.....? still love cheese, i was just shocked to see the correlation of other very influential bands I've personally have had my entire life altered by following tours.....
That’s a pretty insane rig but does that even sound like a mandolin??
8:42 I've been trying to figure this out for years and he breezed right over it.. what is it?
Sounds like what he uses for Lands End > Glory Chords
I've got a 250w groove tube power amp and no they don't make them anymore, got mine in 98' and it's never failed me, and i live and die by mine, would NEVER part with it.
Always wondered who was making all the weird noises.
Looks like fly is down
kang'd
I don’t need to know how the sausage is made, it’s all delicious
I don't know how you can be so minimal .
Play Stairway to Heaven, bro!
That is not even kind of a mandolin, fight me about it
