Joker’s Lawyer’s first argument: “Your honour, members of the jury: first of all, my client is a cartoon.”
You won the case but you lost the jury.
Timothy Reynolds lmfao!
I love how the voice of the Lawyer changes when he talks about his defense. It was a fun one!
When he's talking about prosecution: what everyone thinks most lawyers should be
When he's talking about defense: what most lawyers actually are
" Great Scott"
"Actually I'm Irish"
this made me laugh too hard
Yeah, this Joker was actually hilarious sometimes.
Toosoo I didn’t get it
@@williamwang3729 great scot
Scottish
Actually I'm irish
The line in the comic is also fun.
Patent Clerk: My god!
Joker (looking around in panic): WHERE!?
@@cheezemonkeyeaterJoker: oh I see. It was an expression... of endearment!
Anyone else feeling intrigued and mortified listening to this guy talk about how he can get the Joker off easy?
It’s up to the prosecution to have built a better case in advance.
The fact that Joker was apprehended by an illegally operating vigilante probably wouldn’t help matters...
Kind of skipping the fact that the whole "Joker Fish" scheme involved attempted murder of the men who denied his dubious copyright claim, and that the whole thing was likely just a trap to get the attention of Batman and feed him to a shark.
Also, he'd probably be sued by fishermen for ruining their businesses, and he probably isn't allowed to genetically alter fish in a public river, especially en masse.
Exactly that gmo "defense" made no sense
As someone who watched Batman: TAS religiously as a kid (it premiered when I was ten), I assure you that his violence and antics were not toned down at all and were as manic and dangerous as anything he's done in the movies
Yeah, that part bugged me too. This is a Joker who shoved his girlfriend out a window and tried to blow up Gotham City with a nuke. He's a nasty piece of work.
The same guy that stalked a man, called in a ‘favor’ years later and then not only made him an accomplice, but had the poor fellow mentally crack. Yeah, no. You don’t need blood to be horrifying.
In the laughing fish alone he poisned the guy at the patent office.
So true
Yeah I mean he's the same Joker in Batman Beyond who tortured both physically and mentally Tim Drake (Robin) for weeks with such cruelty that Tim became a 'Joker Junior' for a while, and decades later, Tim was still a freaking mess (let's not even mention the DNA chip thing).
I'd love to see a lawyer defending Jared Leto. Not his Joker, but instead seeing what crimes he could be charged with for sending used condoms to his co-stars.
👍
😂 Perfect
Lol 😂
Lol
or uh also, running a cult centered around him lol
Actually, Glo Fish is a protected brand of genetically modified species of tetras and betta. Sellers have a disclaimer that breeding them is against their copy right.
This should be in high school and college classes, especially with the excellent VO work.
Let's not forget his body count in mask of the Phantasm.
They've specifically been avoiding murder, since every Joker kills innocent people, and focusing on the unique crimes specific to each incarnation of the character.
1
did anyone else legitimately laugh when batman got pie on his face?
Its so frightening that the lawyer could defend most of jokers crime ^^
Okay his defense for "genetically mutitated fish" sounds BS.
I wouldn't hire him I feel like the judge would just give him a confused look before declaring guilty
I definitely want more of these and hopefully with this guy. Great video!
Love that this guy said, "An opportunity to increase awareness of my law firm by tying myself to 'The Joker did nothing wrong'? I'm in!"
Now I want to see if a lawyer could defend him from that tax evasion episode.
"I'm crazy enough to take on Batman, but the IRS? Noooo thank you!"
I’ve finally started watching through this series and think it’s quite cool interesting to hear what could possibily happen if these jokers were real even tho they aren’t lol animated joker is one of the best;)
THE best, yes.
Gabriel Jimenz you are correct, Mark Hamill may be best known at Luke, bit he'll always be the Joker to me.
I'd say not toned down necessarily... I would say the violence and chaos was more implied and hinted at than shown. He did actually kill in Mask of The Phantasm.
The show did a wonderful job of making him so menacing and terrifying without being too graphic. So much of the violence is implied.
He killed in this very episode. The patent clerk who denies his request is gassed to death with Joker toxin.
This Fandom IRL series is brilliant!
Of course, then he poisoned a bunch of people when he didn't get his way...
I think the fact that he tried to murder three people might make his case a little harder to argue than he's making out.
Now this would be fun
Joker: "Oh noo, the lawyer is going to give my 785th life sentence for environmental damage. Dear me"
This series is proving to be all that The Good Wife taught me... Jury selection, carefully picking the words to use in your statement
My client is not real he can’t hurt you
WHOA!...........Joker's Irish?!
I love the balls on this lawyer thinking the Joker wouldn't just kill him even WITH him being his defense attorney
I'm not a lawyer, just a normal person with a strong interest in IP law. However my take on the episode was always that The Joker was mistaken in trying to copyright the fish. It'd be more accurate to attempt to trademark them. (Though the video does make a good point that the formula for altering the fish was probably patentable.) However, the fact that Joker applied the chemical to a public resource (wild fish in Gotham), means his claim probably wouldn't stand if you went with the patent or trademark claims since he illegally applied it without government or public consent. Then again, this is a murderous madman clown we're talking about as his real end goal was just to make an example of some randomly chosen low-level government employee.
Love it!
Monsanto got away with suing a farmer whose corn had by chance been pollinated by their trademark GMO corn. Joker could definitely sue fish mongers for selling his GMO fish.
I like that guy -
Joker kills 15 people in broad daylight, while taking selfies with the cadavers - "What did they do to offend you, sir?"
Ha would be funny to do one more for LEGO Batman movie joker!! Lol
We should have a series about the prosecution of Walt Disney's animated villains. The Big Bad Wolf for property destruction and attempted mayhem (since he's technically an interspecies cannibal), Captain Hook for piracy, Cruella DeVil for grand theft and animal cruelty, Ursula the Sea Witch for kidnapping and treason, Hades for terrorism (I'm pretty sure that hydras count as weapons of mass destruction), and (even though he's not a villain) Jack Skellington for kidnapping, breaking and entering, and possibly terrorism.
I still love BTAS Jokers version of jingle bells
Okay this lawyer is trying so hard to take this seriously but honestly seems like 2 seconds away from face palming, taking a deep breath and then laughing
This is fascinating.
Breaking into the guys office threatening to murder him, spraying him, launching a second component into his house. All that is totally legally. It's also legal to poison a domestic cat in the hopes it will attack a human.
I saw a lawyer billboard that said "Just because you did it... Doesn't mean you're guilty"
Well congrats if you believe that!
On the other hand.... my defense attorney saved SAVED my @$$ from a 2nd DWI!!! (first was when I was 18)
Also if you need DWI defense and are in Mass, look up Steve Vallincourt (seriously put his neck on the line to get me a 2nd trial!!!! and you normally only get ONE!!!!!!)
PS I've been very VERY careful about driving since then!
One minor hiccup in that episode is...didn't he also threaten the copyright office worker and the gas him putiyng him in a coma-like state?
Are we just ignoring the fact that Joker attempts murder at least four different times in this episode?
I would love it if robot chicken or something had a sketch showing a lawyer defending Joker's fish in this manner. He would be a great defense lawyer for the joker.
Ok, but we all understand that Joker would murder that lawyer horrifically the first time he told him that his plans wouldn't work exactly the way he envisioned them, right? That lawyer would never make it to the courtroom. He'd be found dead with an ear to ear grin after the first consultation.
Nah, he's actually really nice to his lawyer, since he's damn good at his job. We actually get to see him in Joker's Millions and he does challenge the Joker and get him to tone his antics down.
The animated Joker never actually succeeded in killing anyone other than Carl Beaumont (and the only witness to that crime was Andrea Beaumont, who's an unstable murderer herself) and those two guys in the one-shot anthology story "Joker After Midnight" (which is arguably non-canonical anyway). But in "Holiday Knights" he DID announce on live TV that he was going to kill as many people as possible (though he never mentioned the specifics). And in "Harlequinade" he outright threatened the city with a nuclear warhead, which is a clear terrorism charge!
he killed Robin
An episode about something scarier than a meniacle comic book super villain... a lawyer.
You can't genetically modify things that are not your property. If that were the case, protestors would be allowed to go into Monsanto and change their crop formulas such that they produce seeds so farmers don't need to re buy them. That argument would set terrible precedence for environmental law as anyone or corporation could dump or pollute government owned or protected lands with intention: intention to fix plant or fish populations such that fisheries would be forced to close in favor of their non-polluted, non-modified farmed fisheries, intention to pollute to deter predators from fisheries with unforeseen consequences on the environment or result of the species modified to no longer hunt the crop fish, and just intention to force people to consume their product without any FDA testing of effects that could have on people or the environment.
GMOs are terrifying.
Not really.
They are guided.
If you think thats unsafe know we used to use nukes to mutate fruits.
This is the best joker
This is how our justice system works ppl.... jokes and sinister smiles
Cool dude
Joker is Irish, who knew?
No Monsanto reference about the fish? Copyrighting fish faces seems very similar to how Monsanto shut down farmers that had products polenated by their modified plants.
There is a fanfic story in which the main character kills the Joker and surrenders to Batman, telling him that there is no jury in the world that would ever convict him for it. The prosecution presents video proof of him committing the deed, himself happily confessing to it, along with all the other absolute proof he did it, and the jury finds him not guilty. No higher court has any interest in even considering interfering. Batman is left shocked that normal people do not share his ideals but in fact have very little problem with killing violent criminals. Especially the ones in Gotham. Especially especially the freaking Joker.
And here’s why everyone hates lawyers
Because they have to do their jobs.
It sure does suck.
Counselor, you're laughing. How can you hold yourself from laughing in court?
Cant belive they skipped over the IRS bit
The violence "toned down" hahaha not true!😂🤣😂
Well he did say a "little". We see what the Joker is really capable of in the DCAU Movies, where censors are much laxer. he still kills a lot of people in the show but most of it's done off screen, and even a lot of his on-screen violence tends to use jump cuts rather than showing him directly doing something. At least till JU, since they were running on a later time-slot and could get away with more. they still did a ridiculously good job considering that BTAS was saturday morning block at the time, and one of the most censored blocks. Especially when you compare it to say Spiderman:TAS, which was very heavily censored by comparison.
Batman will break into this guy house a lot tbh
This is the sorta Lawyer that gets drunk drivers and drug dealers off that kill people.
Does using a motor on the back of a truck, to spray chemicals in the air count as an environmental offense?
5:18 *when a lawyer accidentally says the quiet part out loud while on camera*
Big oopsie
4:26 Let's see if it pays off for him, Cotton.
Need this guy as my lawyer
Maybe you should have consulted Harvey Dent 💀
Good stuff. Are companies allowed to just genetically modify any fish in the river however they want? Seems like something massively problematic. I'm sorry your honor but I've accidentally rendered every fish in this river infertile, oops.
Should do injustice joker if Superman didn't kill him or when did he just stopped there
The lawyer seems to have issues with GMOs.
I think he is counting on the jury to have issues with GMOs.
@@gabrieljimenez9762 yup, "and you always fear what you don't understand"
Moral of the story: both the Joker and anyone willing to be his successful defense should be locked away in Arkham. What? It's just me thinking this way? Ok then...
What about the other crimes featured in the episode? Menacing and attempted murder of the copyright officer for instance? Or the potential liability for damages due to consumption of the chemically altered Joker fish? It's not as if the Joker was ever particularly careful about the toxicity of his creations.
My defense would be
* shows Chewbacca picture
This is a wookie who lives on the planet of Endor, why does a Wookie live on the Ewok's planet?
If the wookie lives on Endor, you must acquit
hey man monsanto should be through too dont get me started
Another one - dj Khali voice
It's official: Lawyers are hereby more evil than the Joker. I remember an early episode of Justice League where Green Lantern John Stewart was put on trial on a planet that had a rule - Anyone who defends the accused will share the same fate as the accused. I like that.
I agree: we should go back to the days of witch trials./s
Should the Joker have gone for trademark instead?
I aint no lawyer but joker would still be committing an illegal act if he just went ahead and "genetically modified" the fish. You need some kinda permit, contract, licenses, etc like factories have that create gmo animals. Right....?
As someone who wears a tie to work everyday, it really bugs me when I see people on TV or in broadcasted interviews, etc who can't tie a proper tie knot. I know it's nit-picky, but it's a whole thing.
i thought that this video would be about the rest of his crimes as well,i don't think that he can get away with how he treated harley.
ladies and gentelman...Our cureent social climate...
Now I understand why people hate lawyers.
Unless they're on your side hehe
Poisoning a river to deliberately modify an animal using toxins would bring me to a point of arguing bio-terroism. In essence in actuality it could be a basis for a Domestic Terrorism case. The fact that most rivers feed in to water systems that humans use for either consumption or agricultural use surely would have led to human victims be damned. Let's not even bring up that in a metropolitan area homeless people are known to fish in irrigation ponds and flow throughs so humans would have definitely been affected causing new charges, this would have been multiple federal charges. I would have gave him a super mega nut 👊 🤜 🤛 ✊ 👊
Didn't he gas that guy to death....
these make me feel dirty.
Thanks for this, reminded me why I hate lawyers.
wait ...
Joker has an Irish heritage?
Is the Joker Irish?
No
He claims to be Irish, sometimes breaks into Yiddish, and used to work for the Italians.
This lawyer is way too lenient on Joker. He argues a good case, but I would've rather seen him argue both sides... There's no way that Joker could get away with sending poisonous fish throughout Gotham, genetically modified or not. He wouldn't be deserving of copyright related royalties for such an act either...
I don't remember the series stating that the fish production was poisonous, just was modified to have a distinctive feature.
Can't even say he has a good case.
Except the companies genetically modifying animals do so on animals they own
The sadist thing about Joker's plan is that he would actually win his case. Just look into the numerous cases where Monsanto has sued farmers claiming that the were growing Monsanto patented GMO crops without permission. Even in cases where the "crops" in question where growing wild on the edge of the property because you know seeds get carried by the wind from neighboring farms that are using them.
The judge's ruling was insane as he declared it didn't matter how the plant got there, be it through intentional act of farmer or carried on the wind, or planted there by Monsanto themselves, the farmer was infringing on Monsanto's intellectual rights without permission. And yeah the third one I added mainly cause I don't recall the full list and it's to drive home the point of how insane the ruling was. Becuase it's a bit like police knocking on your door and arresting you as an accessory to bank robbery for possessing stolen goods because some of the money that was stolen blew out the robber's car and is now scattered in your front yard.
Aka the only version of the joker anyone cares about
"anyone" ?
The Joaquin Phoenix-starring "Joker" made over a billion worldwide and that performance of the character got crazy respect. The Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger Jokers are beloved by TONS of people.
I love Mark Hamil's Joker as well, he's up there in the top three of them and on any given day is probably my favourite (Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker, his last appearance in Justice League, and Mask Of The Phantasm push him up the list even more than Batman: TAS already did, but they're all part of the same continuity).
Environmental problems that he DID? How an that he "CAUSED"? What, dude? You are a lawyer! Learn English! Lol
