i think the “liam neeson isn’t killing anyone in this scene” is my favorite running gag on this channel. kills me every time
Removing sins for the neesons key & peele sketch I just watched before seeing this
It can't kill you every time if Liam isn't killing anyone in this scene ... as Liam isn't killing anyone in this scene.
@@chrisjlocke That's the secret: Liam was too busy killing the audience, to kill anyone in the actual scene.
Can you imagine a scene with both Liam Neeson and Sean Bean?
@@rtpoe only thing making it better is if it subverts everything and actually has Sean bean kill Liam Neeson instead of the other way around. The movie world would collapse in on itself.
No matter how many sins this movie has... even watching those little fragments in this video makes me feel so emotional. Such a good movie.
*Listen, one of the many reasons why I also believe, think & say Gotham must & will be destroyed is, I was born DEAD in Gotham & I resurrected myself back to life, or put my spirit back into my body....*
One of the best comic movies, so underrrated
Bro really cares about the sins💀
Agreed, this is my favorite of the Nolan trilogy. I think it hits a near-perfect balance of being mostly grounded in reality, but finding excuses to slip in just enough campy or melodramatic elements to still feel true to the comic book origins. The other two were just too dour and self serious, at least for my taste.
IMO the best live action batman
That scene when everybody's been infected by the fear gas and you see that image of a demonic bat flying overhead always thought that was tight.
Demonic bat flying overhead is *TIGHT!*

I like that we're acknowledging Scarecrow as a cool villain. That "Would you like to see my mask?" scene with Falcone was freakin' badass.
That scene is one of the most interesting things Nolan has come up with. It's meant to recall experiments in Nazi camps, and how the next step in control and power is conquering your subject's mind.
I just wish we could have seen more of him as the Scarecrow.
1:54 I was just reading about this in a book analyzing candyman. In real life Detroit, the highway put a physical divide between the slums and the gentrified areas, in fact making it physically more difficult to get from the poor side of town to the rich side for people that already may have lacked transportation. So essentially that is what this train system is hoping to fix with cheap/free transportation out of the slums and into the city enabling people to access better work and resources.

The Candyman Killer is one of the creepiest... I bet they'll never make a movie, unfortunately. Too dark.
Dang, I’m from Michigan and never knew that 😢
Yes, cheap transportation has EVERYTHING to do with economical struggles, since poor people can't really afford having nice cars but they do need to commute to work. Sometimes Jeremy seems like a guy who lives in Pluto.
Yes. It was called redlining and it happened in all 50 states
I saw in theatres with my lil brother and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Despite any flaws, Chris Nolan did an amazing job of creating a grounded version of the batman universe and it remains unmatched!

Bat Signal isn't just to call Batman, It's to let everyone in Gotham know he's out tonight
You know he's not for at least the first half hour it's on while he needs to prepare for and then get out of his meeting with Gordon. Then he's got to take a leak from all the coffee he downed sitting that meeting (it helps keep him awake during boring stakeouts). The donuts usually give him gas too, so he's usually in there for a while and that suit's harder to deal with than pantyhose, amiright, ladies? Mhmm. And he probably forgot to pick up a pack of smokes at 7-11too, so he has something to do during those long stakeouts. Really you've got at least 85 minutes for a purge before you need to worry about anything.
*Listen, one of the many reasons why I also believe, think & say Gotham must & will be destroyed is, I was born DEAD in Gotham & I resurrected myself back to life, or put my spirit back into my body....*
@@hebrewyisraeliteyahawadahite Like a reverse solomon grundy? Really Angry Baby?

@Michael 92 Go home, kid

The problem with the bat signal is that it only works on cloudy nights. How is the city going to get a hold of Batman if the story's villains commit crimes during the day or on clear nights?
LoL well he's the dark night not the noon knight 😂 Gotham's like england I guess just crappy weather overall. He picked a good city to ninja around 😁
Because its Gotham City lol. It is forever covered in ominous looking clouds and fog because there is crime being committed 24/7
@@stevenmacaulay8807 Also, Gotham has very little daytime, so even you do manage to arrive at the batsignal-location during daylight, just wait a few minutes and it will be night again anyway.
The Arkham Knight game nailed this -- no matter how long you play, it's always night, always raining, AND it's Halloween.
@@stevenmacaulay8807 We need a Good Afternoon Knight.
PRACTICAL EFFECTS BEFORE CGI
That's my motto
Really depends on the character. Batman, Green Arrow, and Deathstroke would rock with practical effects. Zatanna, Black Adam, and Flash are impossible without cgi.

I love the scene where Batman reveals his identity to Rachel. He clearly did it subtly to avoid other people figuring it out, which he also does in the third movie with Gordon (so your sin is irrelevant). Plus, the moment when she realizes that he’s still the good person he’s always been is extremely satisfying.
After so many years I still come back now and then and get sucked in for a couple hours, and all for a chuckle.

5:20 I don’t think there were actually bats in that box. Bruce is on the blue flower drug, so I think what you see in the box is unique to you, which would be consistent with when Bruce sees bats later when fighting scarecrow.

How can you not give a Sin to Batman for not destroying Joffrey when he had the chance!!??
"Loose" millions..
I'm legitimately shocked by the large number of people I've met in my life who actually think "lose" is spelled that way.
Sadly that's the modern era of English
We spend so much time on the Internet, we have allowed auto suggestion and correct to do literacy for us
We've allowed ourselves to follow trendy words and phrases I.e "pwned" "stop the cap" "rizz" etc, on things like Twitch, it's booba, sadage, madage etc
That the only people that care about spelling is those that read books, and when spelling errors are pointed out, you get called Grammar Police, which in itself is an error, because grammar is the structure of sentences, not the spelling of a word in the sentence
@Bustuhh I think it's funny how on this rant you said "the only people that care about spelling *is* those" instead of *are* those.

7:25 Actually, bats do cluster in absolutely staggering numbers. Caves exist IRL with literally millions of bats in them. There's nothing wrong with this scene, in theory - we just have a hard time wrapping our heads around seeing huge numbers of things onscreen.
Also, this movie deserves some sins off for inventing Lucius Fox - a character who makes so much sense in hindsight that it seems like he should have already existed, and was almost immediately added to the casts of other Bat-projects, like the Telltale Batman games. He's easily the best addition to the canon since Harley Quinn.

You're actually not far off the truth with the guy in Wayne Tower, the 'won a contest' joke.
His name is Shane Rimmer, who voiced Scott Tracy in the 1960's marionette show Thunderbirds. Christopher Nolan loved the show (it's why a lot of scenes including the monorail crash are practical effects instead of CGI) and recognised one of the film crew had the surname Rimmer. He jokingly asked if there was any relation, and funnily enough, there was.
So while he didn't win a contest to be in the film, he did star in it as a cameo specifically at Christopher Nolan's request. The more you know!

At 4:46, I'm pretty sure he says that so people and authorities don't think he had anything to do with Bruce's sudden disappearance/presumed death.
dumbest sin ever tbh, waiting for the birdman video on this one
at 9:49 batman isnt standing. he is in a crouched position above the spherical thing. sin removed
I’ve a request: 9. It’s a beautiful flick and I’d thoroughly enjoy a rip or commentary on how pretty awesome it is, it’s a journey similar to Frodo going to Gondor but is rife with flaws as well as exemplary cinematography despite being entirely cgi. I’d love your take on it
Frodo going to Mordor.
Missed a sin at 12:58 - Batman's face is exposed and it not only would have burned him, it would have killed him. Watch any behind-the-scenes in a film where a stunt person is engulfed in flames. They cannot inhale breath because the fire and heat would incinerate their mouth, trachea, and lungs. Also, at 17:36 - "Even the beam...doesn't have fire on it..." Yes, it clearly does. Look at Alfred's left leg as he runs to Bruce. The fire is in the foreground and appears to be emanating from the beam. One sin removed, although add a billion sins due to a single decent Batman film having yet to be made.
9:50 if you look closely both pillars are the same, so not a sin there.
Imo 9 is INCREDIBLY under appreciated
Also pretty dark…
Personally I feel it deserves a spot in cinema wins
Other suggestions, since you often review contemporary flicks and few animated one, “the point” and “wizards” are two other suggestions worth a gander.the latter is pretty dark but fits hating on an overuse of filters from the 70s. The former is just charming and worth a cinemawin other than Nilsson and ringo being the “maestros” behind the soundtrack. All fairly obscure movies but definitely worth a watch if you can get into older animated flicks
Batman begins was awesome. Nothing anyone can say or do will take this movie off its top platform. Best super hero film ever!
A man of culture, I see!
Begins is my favorite live-action Batman film and I’ll die on that hill!
Close to '' The Dark Knight ''.
20:13
I think the answer to that one is quite obvious, no offense. I understand that the movie itself doesn't point it out, but I'm pretty sure Batman went in the train as a distraction, since the task of the non-ninja-trained Gordon could easily be interrupted by just a single highly-trained ninja. He went in so Liam Neeson wouldn't have time to see it coming and react. And then Batman made sure the train couldn't be stopped once he realized he wasn't 100% sure if he really could win the fight. I'm sure they could have explained all that with an inner-monologue or something, but then you'd probably sin it for narration. :P
Really enjoy your videos, by the way.

Yes! He doesn't mean Falcone's men, but the cops.
The "trash your lights" audio at the end is fucking brilliant.
You know, for as much respect as I will give this film for giving a nice, fresh and confident start to this very much needed take after Batman and Robin set it back a few years, I'm always gonna be off on certain things like the lackluster editing (which Nolan and crew thankfully improved as the series went along. 17:23 I don't see why people don't understand here Ra's Al-Ghul's talking about Bruce leaving the fake Ra's Al Ghul for death who at the time he thought was the real Ra's Al Ghul. That's enough for Ra's Al Ghul to take that personally. He doesn't care Bruce saved "Ducard" as a friend thinking he's just a representative or something. In his perspective, Bruce burned his actual house and killed his double thinking that was actually him, not the physical him but the identity of him.
@11:15 - also, if your weapon vaporizes water, what about the sea the ship is actually in? Does it sink to the bottom, does the weapon act like Moses?
There's also the fact that it should vaporize the blood/sweat/other liquid in your body. Or the fact that it only seems to vaporize liquid in a way that's good for the plot/makes a good scene, as opposed to just vaporizing the shit all at once.
There were _so_ many more sins here that Jeremy didn't catch. Just once I'd like to see a movie director/producer that's actually smart. There are ways to do this that don't involve these sins, like setting/attaching a timer on the microwave transmitter, then getting the hell outta Dodge before it goes off. The bad guys still get the effect they were going for, the audience still knows what happened, yet you avoid having the sin of all the liquid in their bodies not get vaporized.
Or the fact that the bad guy _always_ waits until the hero is there before they go ahead with their evil plan, thus ensuring that they'll be stopped. According to Ras Al Ghul the League of Shadows literally had agents in every single seat of power, so why wait so long to destroy the city? Also, if they had so much power and influence, why didn't they do anything to make the city better? Also also, if they had infiltrated the city that deeply, and the city is this corrupt, wouldn't that mean they were the ones corrupting it?
Somehow saw this pop up at 47 seconds after being posted. Perfect timing since I was already binging these lol.
You should have sinned the movie when Falcone was chained to the spot light. He would have had 3rd degree burns.
That "Martha" got me good lmao

Biggest sin is that Katie Holmes wasn't in the sequels...
Right! They took her out and replaced her with a hack.
You have to admit that her acting wasn't great... Whatever objections you might have for Maggie, she's a fantastic actress.
That line that Alfred said about protecting himself was definitely foreshadowing for the Batman
