Y'know, I actually liked the fact that the movie was 8 hours long. I mean, I get that some people might get bored or lose focus or want to go to the bathroom sometime in that 9 hour period, but I thought it was good for the pacing of the story, and I had a good 10 hours to spare that weekend, so why not? If anything, I think more studios should be willing to commit to 11-hour runtimes.

I just like that the Riddler was basically Jigsaw in this movie because that's pretty in line with how he is in the Arkham Games. Not only does he place a bunch of riddles around the city that you have to figure out but he kidnaps people and puts them in traps that you have to save them from. Which... also involves solving riddles/puzzles.

A conspiracy theorist that knows he has to lead you to the answer not blurt it out? Awesome. I grew up in a house with a skylight 15 feet from the floor that could be opened. You needed a hook tool to pull the latch and push it up. An extension arm would hold it open until you pulled the elbow with the hook to close it. Instead of creating a breeze like a window, it would release hot air from above.

I agree that having Thomas Wayne being corrupt would be more interesting. Batman started out to avenge his parents only to realise his parents weren't as squeaky clean and idealistic as he thought, he starts questioning his crusade but ultimately decides to be Batman for the hope of the city, not for his personal vendetta. It would have worked perfectly into the story.

Several times during the movie people call him out as a “rich boy” who doesn’t really understand how the city he’s trying to save actually works. And it all builds up to the “I’m Vengeance” quote at the end where he finally realizes that he was going about it all wrong and starts to actually save people and not only beat up thugs. I personally think, however, that it would’ve been better if Bruce’s father did actually intend to murder that journalist because it would further drive the point home that Bruce doesn’t really know what he’s fighting for.

For Sin 93, I have to argue that the Riddler didn't go after Bruce directly for the same reason that he didn't go after Falcone himself despite pretty much knowing who he was (With the theatrics surrounding Colson being part of his MO of not just giving people the answers). Both of them are pointed out as social recluses with one staying in the private section of a heavily protected criminal den and the other living in what has to be a similarly very secure home. Add to it, Riddler has no chance to scope them out and find out their daily schedules and habits, so for Falcone he relies on Batman and the Police to bring him into the perfect place for him to be taken out...it seems like Bruce was just a bonus target for him. He talks about Bruce's father, he resents Bruce for being an orphan with billions of dollars and a home of his own and he lumps Bruce in with everything he hates about Gotham; but in the end I think that Bruce was less of a necessary target and more of a personal one for him. That was why he relied on something so impersonal and imperfect, because he didn't really mind if it failed as long as the message accompanying it got to Batman.

Also, I dunno if I am alone here, but I found it very funny that after Batman introduces himself as Vengence and criminals tremble at the sight of the Bat signal, the thug asks him who he is. Well, he was probably visiting from the town where the Arrow operates...

Or maybe he was that one guy who stubbornly believed the Batman to be a myth to scare people like him, and for a second thought that the man who would beat him into a pulp was just some regular guy dressing up to play on said myth.

if he could scope out the mayor nd police chief he could definitely scope out batman, he really wanted falcone but couldnt to him so he used batman to forcefully bring him out. Another thing i'm struggling to understand is this, riddler really considers batman as some sort of ally which is why it was probably fun for him to send batman the clues, when he found out about falcone he must be wondering holy shit i bet the batman doesnt know this shit so let me put him on, which makes me wonder why he isnt interested in knowing his true identity. Is it maybe because he doesn't wanna ruin the mysteriousness of the batman he had grown to admire, so out of respect he let him be?
Personally i think they should have let that part he said bruce wayne in the prison play out like he knew his real identity. However, he was going to keep his true identity to himself out of deep deep respect for the lore, for gotham cause he truly believes gotham needs the batman.

Batman didn’t do any detecting in this movie. He was handed clues by the police from the person he was chasing. The one lead he came up with (the Penguin being El Rata Alata) was wrong, and that caused quite a few innocents to be killed in that car chase. In the end, he’s handed the answer to the final clue that the climax of the movie hinges on on a silver platter of plot convenience.
The Batman in The Batman is a passive character. He’s moved along by the plot, not by his own proactive choices.

My issue is that for all the things this movie does great, it just calls into question how a brilliant mind that created that also make the errors they did.
    Example:
I watched a video essay on the amazing sound design of this movie, and it used the moment where Batman and Catwoman find Penguin and his Maroni drug operation. When he fires his gun, the rain goes silent, because the movie has a POV element to it, and when you hear the thunderous bullets, the rain falls away in comparison as your ears adjust back. That's great sound design. But then you have the club scene where Gil doesn't speak up over loud music. Like that's a real contradiction for me how you have the brain for one and not the other.
And then there's the multiple times of making the same mistakes like info-dumping or the "You should take a look at this" cliche.
Gordon is made out to be a good guy but somewhat incompetent with how he and the police force solve nothing on their own.
The insistence on long shots is annoying for an already long movie, the prevalence of following bike shots is annoying especially at the end, and Something in the Way is overused. It fit the trailers and could work for the initial bike ride to establish the Kurt Cobain vibe but after that it just made Batman an emo meme. He did a Joker where Catwoman says "are you just seriously scarred" and he goes "...yeah." Basically a damaged tattoo situation for me.

I'm surprised you didn't sin the fact that if these thugs and criminals would just carry a flashlight they could easily see if Batman is or isn't lurking in the shadows like he said in the into.

After a certain distance, all a flashlight does is ruin your night vision and tell other people where you are.

Yes, but the bad guys in the Iceberg Lounge actually did have flashlights, which is how they discovered Batman on the ceiling (before getting beaten to a pulp).

In the comics Riddler figured out Batman's identify. Bruce/Batman tricked riddler to keep his secret. Because of Riddlers incessant need to feel special and supperior to everyone.

Im so glade you did this. I did my own because of how many thing made me upset:
    The Batman
    -Needle drop
-He looks at things using his Twilight disgusted face
    -Batman looks down a lot
-What happened to the board of Wayne Industries coming to meet him?
    -Haha “thumb drive”
-Batman creeps on Catwoman instead of watching his suspect in the other room
-to many shots for a 8 sec conversation. It gave me a headache
-when did Batman learn Selena‘s name.
-The bat Signal looks like it’s just a Gordon side project/ ie it looks like it’s just in a construction site
-the mayor approaches Bruce Wayne at a funeral to ask him for money for the city
-Poor Colson sat all day waiting for Batman because he only comes out at night
-where did the glide suit go after he fell?
-an hour in and it has rained every single night
-(when you first see the Batmobile in action) what?
    -“peekaboo” haha
-“good cop batshit cop” the penguin read my mind
    -Batman is a terrible detective
-they made penguin waddle like a penguin haha
-Bruce is a dick to floors? Why there?
-Bruce Wayne didn’t know anything about his parents, his expression say that.
I say again Batman is a terrible detective
-Bruce used his Batman voice in front of Falcone
-The Riddler is anarchy he barely did any riddles
-The riddler can easily slide out of that neck cuff that they have him in
-Batman was about to cry because he thought someone found them out
-“you are not as smart as you thought you were” the riddler read my mind
-theses a sea wall in Gotham? Since when?
    -Pigs
-ok, that was a cool superhero landing, but how long was that set up?
