Yes but the point is that you can do it without having to change your citizenship, and therefore are not put through the vicissitudes of border control that non-EU countries are subject to. Simply put, he's qualified to live in Spain because the EU controls the terms of Spanish borders for a more balanced system, yet he's complaining about border sovereignty.

The only thing I have in common with these people is my passport. Living in another country is a huge opportunity to open your mind to other ways of thinking. I emigrated from the UK 13 years ago (to New Zealand), and I am appalled by the attitudes of those people. I didn't have the same issue of needing to speak a foreign language but I wanted to assimilate into the community and culture of my new home.

The only thing I have in common with these people is my passport. Living in another country is a huge opportunity to open your mind to other ways of thinking. To live in a country as culturally rich as Spain and just for the sunshine is plain sad. The Guardian could do better than feature this group as representative of Britons living in the EU. But let's not forget that the Guardian is deep down as wedded to the cultural norms of the UK as the people they are interviewing.

I emigrated from the UK 13 years ago (to New Zealand), and I am appalled by the attitudes of those people. I didn't have the same issue of needing to speak a foreign language but I wanted to assimilate into the community and culture of my new home.

I'm spanish, because I have spanish nationality, but have lived in 17 different countries and never had any problems, because of my international attitude. I speak 5 languages and love it. To say I'm ...... always puzzled me. I was born in Madrid, but lived in different cities in Spain, so I can't understand what TO BE FROM means.
