    No harder to disconnect the fuel lines than my 2019 Hima.
    All I do on my bike is place a block of wood under the rear of the tank.
    Pick up my 450 in a couple of weeks (TAS).

    Thanks for this. I wonder where the hole in the air box is and if you can run a pre filter instead

    • @FULLPELTAdventures
      @FULLPELTAdventures  2 місяці тому +1

      I did video it but it didn't make the editing. Was difficult to see. It's near the head stem of the bike on the left hand side, you may be able to get a prefilter on it. It would be good if it could be done. the paper filter is not ideal here in Australia. Regards FPPete.

    Excellently filmed video on the process.
    Unfortunately it is a process and that makes the bike a no-go for me. Shame, I was impressed with the bike but I’m not going to half-disassemble the bike to get to the air filter every time.

    Forgive my mechanical ignorance, but does the tank need to be drained before doing this?

    • @FULLPELTAdventures
      @FULLPELTAdventures  Місяць тому

      No you don't need to drain the tank. However the less the fuel in the tank the easier it is the handle and remove. You could siphon fuel out first if you wish. Regards FPPete.

    Very surprised that servicing the air filter needs so many components to be removed on a bike like this. Compare the brilliant design of the AJP Pr7/310/510 which allow a filter swap in seconds by mounting the filter high behind the steering head with a fast removable cover which needs no screws and you can see how it should be done. Air filters sometimes need to be serviced daily in really adverse dusty conditions.

    • @FULLPELTAdventures
      @FULLPELTAdventures  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi James, Totally agree with you. Life is so much better with easy access to the Air filter, particularly when riding in dusty conditions. Thanks for your comment, Regards FPPete.

      @selfmy60 2 місяці тому +2

      I believe they wanted to keep its seat hight low. while also trying to keep its ground clearance and water wading capacity high.
      I do Agree thoo it seems a lot of hassle. Maybe in next few version they will change it.

    • @wowfish-ob3ew
      @wowfish-ob3ew 2 місяці тому +2

      Totally agree. Having owned various enduro bikes and still think the DRZ400 has one of the best quick open easy access air filter cover and filter. The ease of regular servicing of the air filter and changing of oil and oil filter should also be a big consideration when designing any bike. I realise that this helps with the overall design of the bike but would stop me going on dusty roads too often!
      Great video and the Himalayan 450 sounds to be a great bike otherwise. More bike reviews should always show the ease of servicing. I always wander what the air filter access is like on adventure bikes.
      Thankfully on my pre ordered Cfmoto 450MT the fuel tank does not have to be taken off to service the air filter!

    Thanks for that. Did you see the inlet? I'm wondering if a pre-filter can be used. For example in a snorkel if one existed. A pre-filter would be great for dusty desert roads where you'd not want to pull out and clean/change filters

    • @FULLPELTAdventures
      @FULLPELTAdventures  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks David, yeah the inlet was near the head stem, on the left hand side, was difficult to video. A prefilter would be fantastic. May be block the inlet air at the bottom of the filter, and drilling a large hole through the top filter cover and dropping a pre-filter in that hole. I'm sure someone will have a fix real soon. Regards FPPete.
