Quest 2 is fine for now, and as it has sold over 20 million units, developers aren't gonna stop support anytime soon. Meta will continue selling it as the cheaper option (quest lite rumors might change that though but what it is , is yet to be seen). I'll wait for a quest 4 until passthrough gets REALLY good. Until then my quest 2 will carry me along for a few more years.
The Q3 doesn't feel like a massive jump like the Q2 was to the Q1, I almost exclusively play SteamVR using the Quest 2, so I see no point in upgrading for a while aswell.
I agree except for a new VR user, I would recommend Q3. I've found that new VR users don't understand the lens sweet spot and Q3 is so much better in that category.
I’d recommend the 2, I have friends and family both with a VR headsets they rarely use anymore. I mainly use mine to watch movies now in the Big Screen app. I’d say get the 2 and if they end up liking if over the course of a year of two. Sell it and upgrade, or it’ll just be a big paper weight.
I feel like a new VR user should test whether or not they will even like the VR with the Quest 2. There are multitudes of things to consider when having a VR headset.
@@KanoogI use the Quest 2 and no. Videos look low res, everything looks blurry unless you found the perfect spot, peripheral vision is distorted and blurry. I rather pay more for the 3
I really can't recommend a Quest 3 over a Quest 2 since there's a big price gap between them 300 eu for Quest 2 and 550 euro for Quest 3. 250 euro is a lot of money to be paying extra for minor changes.
I have both and the quest 3 is a huge step up in comfort and the cameras are a huge upgrade for someone who needs to see their mouse/keyboard frequently while "flying"
THE most important feature to me which for some reason VR reviewers never touch upon is FOV. Ask yourself what is the point of VR? Its to immerse yourself. And what better way to immerse yourself is there than to take up your whole field of vision? Rather than feel like youre looking through goggles. Its really a no brainer yet its often ignored. So if this headset does not improve field of view, then its not worth an upgrade from the Quest 2.
I agree, FOV is the most important thing. Meta 3 got a boost to 110° (up from 89° on the Meta 2). I've used a Valve Index too (108°) and to me it makes all the difference.
I like my Meta 2 but I might get into a Meta 3 down the road. I had the chance to compare my Meta 2 (89° FOV) to Valve Index (108° FOV) and the 19° increase in FOV makes it that much cooler. For me, immersion is more important than resolution and framerate. Meta 3 got a bump to 110° FOV.
Holy shit this thing has a wider FOV than the valve index? That might sell it for me, I want to use it for war thunder sim so that extra would be so nice.
I mean, The Quest 2 should be able to handle Quest 3 exclusive games if they're also released to PC, as the GPU of the PC would be doing most of the processing, and as long as you have good wifi and/or a good cable for streaming to the Quest 2, then buying a Quest 3 immediately is nothing to worry about (besides, Augmented Reality takes up a LOT of battery power on the Quest 3(90 minutes of AR playtime) The Quest 2 is also still getting updates for optimization despite the Quest 3's release, and has longer battery playtime than the Quest 3, (Q2: 2.5 - 3 hours, Q3: 2.2 hours playtime comparison)
I have a mid range pc and decent wifi but I don't feel like spending lots of money on the quest 3, do you recomend that i get the quest 2 and do pc vr with it?
@@FreshExp as long as your pc can run the games smoothly, the quest 2 is still a good choice for pc vr Its cheap as well compared to the other vr headsets on the market, I've had my Quest 2 for about two years and it still works great.
with quest 3 exclusive games he meant mixed reality games, which quest 2 can't support. games that appears and you can interact with in the real world.
Good video, but you didn't touch on battery life. The Q3 is a bit of a battery hog. They added a battery saver mode to get it closer to the Q2, but the Q3 really needs a battery strap to make the runtime adequate.
I got the Quest 3 and the optics and AR are amazing but when a Quest 2 used is $169 like the one I sold to get the 3, it makes me wonder if I should go back. I’m just not using VR enough to justify $550 vs $169. Not sure what to do.
I'm buying the quest 2 gamestop has a black Friday deal where you get it new for 250 with a 50$ meta store gift card, I'll get the 3 at taxes plus I hear the quest 2 has way better battery
That part about getting one for a kid who just may be a bit rough with tech... I felt that.. that helps me alot to make choice between the two.. Thank you😎👍🏼😎✌🏼
From what i gather, the quest 2 is still great, and if you have one already its not a big deal to drop another 500$ to get the quest 3 unless if you are very serious about vr, but if youre looking to get a headset and dont already have a quest 2, the quest 3 is worth the extra price.
The one thing i hate about my quest 2 is how much it falls down on my face and that sweet spot disappears and its frustrating. With the quest 3 being slightly heavier is that still a problem with it?
Get a better strap with a battery pack so it can work as a counterweight for your 2. The official pro strap is $100 but Amazon has a million battery pack straps to choose from that are waaay cheaper. Just looking at the 3, you'll still want a counter balance but the fact it's thinner will keep the weight far more in check.
@@shanekeene947 oh I brought the bobovr M2 and while it has helped, the headset still falls down my face unfortunately. I'm going to get the battery pack version to try and balance the weight and see if that helps.
I just got my quest 3 today after having my quest 2 for 3 years. It is a difference because the battery life of my Q2 has almost degraded to around 30-45 minutes of gameplay, from an advertised 2 hours. Yet the Q3 is around only 1 hour due to the immense battery hogging of the high-performance XR2 Gen 2, I could also notice the heat. I recommend the Q3 for new VR users due to the compatibility with coming games and older games.

I'm a 38 year old single guy that lives alone and I'm on a tight budget. I used to have a Samsung Gear VR headset many years ago and I thought it was cool, but then I upgraded my phone and stopped using it. Since then, I've been a VR virgin. I mainly want a headset to use to watch movies on and link it with my new Bose QC headphones. I'm not a gamer or anything like that. If I was to use it for anything other than movies or UA-cam, it might be to be able to see my computer desktop and control that, but I don't think that's essential. Anyways, which do you suggest I get? I just want something to support my new headphones to block everything out. Should I go for the Quest 2 or Quest 3?
Quest 3 or the meta quest pro the quest 3 is the sequel of the quest 2 which are both meant for gaming quest 3 has better performance and more user friendly than my meta quest pro but the meta quest pro is more for adults for the lack of gaming hardware on it its meant for business / mixed reality and more for everyday use instead of entertainment purposes so either quest 3 or meta quest pro
Me and sone friends have a quest 2 and tryna get more friends to get them so we can play together so I really hope the 2 is supported long enough with new releases. i find a lot of the games in the store look underwhelming so it would suck if when they finally release stuff i want it ends up on the quest 3
I'm considering buying either of these (neither my boyfriend or I have ever had or used a vr set). The quest 2 is currently £248, however the quest is about £480. I'm not sure I can justify that for the 3, but is it worth getting over the 2?
@@zaylek6568i have had a quest 2 for years and personally i dont think the extra money for the 3 is worth it especially as an introduction, the quest 2 is still a marvel

The quest 2 is already very expensive for me but I just wanna know the 3 is so much better that it's worth me sacrificing all my money for it.
Really big. Sadly the 3 has no OLED so when the screen fades to black it does not really go dark like the 1. Other than that it is so much better. Everything is faster, a lot faster, resolution is way better, much more comfortable especially with the BOBOVR headstrap. I am really happy with the 3. @@jairpenaloza9784
In my opinion the game library just isnt big enough just yet to even justify the quest 3 so the quest 2 has all the good games you can play on the quest 3 so good choice on the quest 2.
7 minutes into the comparison and you have not mention the storage difference or that Meta 3 do not have OLED screen. I see Meta 3 as too little of an upgrade to be worth the cost. A Quest 2 128GB i can get for say..200£ used. While a Meta 3 128gb is closer to 400£. The "Upgrade" is just too little to deffend the price.
My first concern is the health of my eyes having screen displaying si close to my eyes... And how about people wearing glasses? Can they keep wearing them at the same time as the VR headset?
VR is healthier to use than a phone screen or monitor. The focal distance when looking through vr is about 6 feet though yeah eye strain is still an issue
Eye strain can still be an issue, but when you put virtual displays at a distance, you're not focusing your eyes as close up. Yes, there is an included glasses spacer with both headsets, so you can wear glasses while using them.
Tell you the main advantage of the Quest 2 over the Quest 3 is the price! Quest 2 in the UK is £199 and the 3 is £469.....It's not worth the difference.
This seems like the New Nintendo 3ds VS the 3DS XL. Sure the the newer one is better but the upgrade is not at all enough to justify upgrading. I think I'll keep my Quest 2 for now and then get a Quest 3 when not having one hinders my experience. I love my New Nintendo 3DS but it isn't THAT much better than my old one.
I had a Quest 2 for which I spent a lot of money on upgrading the headstrap situation, adding prescription lenses (wearing glasses with the Quest 2 is NOT enjoyable) and custom foam, and it still was not my cup of tea. I found it uncomfortable if worn more than a few minutes, and I ended up referring to it as a $300 headache machine. Even my 2 youngest kids got over it pretty quickly. I ended up giving it to my oldest son. At least he enjoys it. I think VR is not for everyone, and as much as I wanted to like it, I just couldn't. I would still like to try out the Quest 3 just to see the differences firsthand.
The biggest thing for me is the price difference. One is kind of manageable. The other out of many people's reach. It's a hard choice because most would want the quest 3 but can't afford it.
well I mean, the quest 2 now have a great deal from Amazon of £249 which is a £199 Quest 2+ £50 gift card bundle, so it is makes Quest 2 a really sweet deal thou, It would be more worthy to wait for next opportunity for Quest 3 to lower the price to about £300 and at that point you could choose Quest 3 for the MR :)
If you are connecting it to a pc either through cable or air it really does not make a difference. All oculus pale vs pc connection with it. Between the 2 and 3 there is not enough difference to bother paying out another bundle. AR is better and in colour sure but as far as graphics very little. Just get a 2 and the upgrade headstrap and save money.
This was vary helpful to me because I was just about to buy the quest 2 but that decided to look into the quest three. The first video that came up was this and it was the only video I needed. Thx
I bought a Meta-Oculus Rift S one year before they dropped their support of this product. The Rift S worked well until I updated my computer. Now two years later and after a year of Meta stupid suggestions for getting my Rift S working again, it's still not working. I have a $400 paper weight that Meta refuses to fix even though they say my new computer should not be a problem. I cannot recommend buying any Meta products due to their lack of customer service and having a chance of the same dropping of older products support. Meta basically has no customer service and only lip service!
That's absolutely disgusting man. I feel for you. I've wanted to pick up a rift s for cheap for a while and don't see why they can't support their products
Not all the points. Missed one tini tiny detail. The quest 2 has double the storage of the $500 quest 3. Kinda an important point don’t ya think? Of course unless you want to compare $750 q3 vs $200 q2. This would have been a good point.
In short from what I have been reading through the comments: if you don't have a VR headset yet and this is your first get Quest 3. If you already have Quest 2, don't, it is not a significant upgrade
Not really, I have the quest 3 for 2 weeks now . I gave my quest 2 to my little sister. At first I was blown away by the quest 3 graphics but now they look the same with the quest 3 being slightly better. Another thing the battery on the quest 3 doesn’t last as long as the quest 2 you will need a battery bank 😐
Tbh speakers don't matter when im using my razer nari ultimate Headphones which I highly recommend you get if you want to be fully immersed with the haptics on them it makes beat Saber so much fun with bass heavy songs (kracken v3 hypersense and pro models are also amazing I just prefer the ultimates because they have really big ear cushions and swivel ear cups which makes it the perfect fit)
That's what you took away from this? No. I have had my q2 for a couple years, and just got my q3 yesterday. The q3 has way better tracking and overall performance. If you play fast-paced sword fighting/boxing games like I do, the q3 is the one you want.
I am going to purchase vr quest. Kindly suggest the mixed reality is available in both quest 2 and quest 3....?? If mixed reality is available in quest 2 then I would prefer to buy quest 2 only.... Kindly confirm is it available???
quest 2 is not a mixed reality headset. is a vr headset. quest 2 only uses it's cameras to show you when you're close to bounduries and about to hit something in the real world, not to mix within reality. as it cannot mix with reality because of the fact that the cameras are very low quality, which totally nullifies the reality part.
I never had a vr headset ( apart from google cardboard) I was thinking of buying the quest 2 cause of the price difference But that piano demo really looks cool
Im from Argentina. a poor contry, if you gain 1000000$ pesos you are almost rich (1450 pesos = 1 usd) Ok, with that in mind, you can buy a meta quest2 (the same in the video) in mercado libre (amazon of latin america) for 975000 pesos or 672 dollars. WTF LIKE HE IS A LOT RICHER THAT US AND HE CAN BUY THAT WITH HALF A PRICE. What a shitty contry i live in. Please do something with the economy of the US or in 50 years you will get as poor as an argentinian today
looking at that i am sure they got influencer quest 3's with better cameras, my quest three doesnt look like this also not on the 2 dimmensional mirror image, by the way i am pretty sure that the quest 2's resolution dropped by 30 % since the release of the three, can someone confirm that?
IMHO You will do just fine. If this makes sense: Watching fixed camera point of view 3D movies you miss out on depth information, but moving around in 3D VR experience with a single eye still allows you to enjoy the spatial 3D features of the world. Also, shifting your head slightly in the real world and with a VR headset helps give the brain 3D cues that does not require two eyes. Generally speaking two eyed people can do this by varying pointing angle of their eyes converging object images at varying distance from their eyes -- getting 3D depth information while keeping their head in a single position.
i used to have a vive and it was super comfortable, I would easily play hl alyx for hours with it, then I got a quest 2 and it was super uncomfortable, no matter how I adjust the straps it was just putting so much pressure on my forehead and around my eye. can any of you who have it tell me how much better is the quest 3 when it coms to comfort on playing for hours?
I recommend quest 2. The quest 3 doesn't have big enough improvements to warrant the price. Plus odds are quest 4 or something will come out in a year or so which will then be an improvement of the quest 3. The quest 2 and its games will be fine within that time range
4:49 this isn’t a good recreation of the quest 2 passthrough imo. It is black and white but it’s also like 140 p so this crispy b&w example looks way too nice. Just to give the quest 3 a bit more credit the passthrough upgrade is very noticeable.

I'm planning on selling my Q2. Just got the Q3.. and I'm really debating if it's worth it since I haven't used my Q2 for long. It's a tough debate.
What was that piano game? My keyboard has been collecting dust and that looks like a great game to get back into it.
PianoVision
I was able to get my quest 2 open box for 130 dollars but im considering upgrading to the 3. Your video is very helpful so thank you!
I wish they would say why First Encounters keeps disappearing from the store?
The fact that you see removing the tracking ring "good" is confusing.
What about FOV? My issue is the black ring I see around my field of view. Is it much better on the Q3?
yes quest 3 has 110 and the quest 2 i think 89
@joeysomarmoeder-jg9pp no real difference in the FOV. Still have the black ring. I have both now, it's been 4 months 😅
@@joeysomarmoeder-jg9pp maybe he should change his channel name to 4 months laterm
The ipd scroller on the quest 3 is incredible, quest 2s was a terrible design
When they make a quest that can track behind my head then I’ll upgrade from my 2
Who's gonna tell him ?
I'm considering buying either of these (neither my boyfriend or I have ever had or used a vr set). The quest 2 is currently £248, however the quest is about £480. I'm not sure I can justify that for the 3, but is it worth getting over the 2?
If you have the money yes if you want to save money and have something that can introduce you to vr for a good price the 2
Do you have a laptop or pc?
@Damarai_ yea I have an imac
@@zaylek6568i have had a quest 2 for years and personally i dont think the extra money for the 3 is worth it especially as an introduction, the quest 2 is still a marvel
I'm also looking to buy my first ever VR set because I'm really interested in virtual reality and all that. Never used one as well. I don't know which one to buy. The quest 2 is already very expensive for me but I just wanna know the 3 is so much better that it's worth me sacrificing all my money for it.
what a coincidence I bought one this week . Can't wait how different it is from my quest 1
I have a quest 1 also, how big is the difference really?
@@jairpenaloza9784if you're thinking of getting it do it its a huge game changer
@@jairpenaloza9784I’d like to know too! I’m in the same boat as well!
trhe same as upgrading from a iphone 2 to like a 13@@jairpenaloza9784
I won my Quest 2 at a free work raffle. I don't see a clear reason to upgrade.
Thanks, I think I will order the 2 for my rough 10 year old and go from there if he enjoys it and plays with it often.
This technology is very bad for a kids developing brain. It will mess him up bad
In my opinion the game library just isnt big enough just yet to even justify the quest 3 so the quest 2 has all the good games you can play on the quest 3 so good choice on the quest 2.
I can't seem to find the quest 2 for sale anywhere
I dont understand everything is cheaper in usa like the quest 2 cost 3.4k in swedish money and the quest 3 cost 7k in swedish money😢
Ahhh finally someone who noticed this. Kinda an important plus the q2 huh?
Good catch
i move my quest 2 one atom and its blurry.
So the battery still sucks I take it??
My first concern is the health of my eyes having screen displaying si close to my eyes... And how about people wearing glasses? Can they keep wearing them at the same time as the VR headset?
VR is healthier to use than a phone screen or monitor. The focal distance when looking through vr is about 6 feet though yeah eye strain is still an issue
Eye strain can still be an issue, but when you put virtual displays at a distance, you're not focusing your eyes as close up. Yes, there is an included glasses spacer with both headsets, so you can wear glasses while using them.
yeah i wear my glasses with a vr headset
Got a used quest 2 for $400
A new 3 is $800....
Happy with the q2 so far
Heaps better than my rift s
Where do you live??!?
@BerryGood-c8f australia
Tell you the main advantage of the Quest 2 over the Quest 3 is the price! Quest 2 in the UK is £199 and the 3 is £469.....It's not worth the difference.
Can you play the same games as quest 2 if u get the quest 3?
why have an ad that is 1/4 of the video
This seems like the New Nintendo 3ds VS the 3DS XL. Sure the the newer one is better but the upgrade is not at all enough to justify upgrading. I think I'll keep my Quest 2 for now and then get a Quest 3 when not having one hinders my experience. I love my New Nintendo 3DS but it isn't THAT much better than my old one.
Quest 2 îs one of the most powerfull vr gaming but the quest 3 is a brother for apple vizion
I think that quest 2 is much better for me
Very helpful 👌 thanks
Wait, why is this the only video that keeps playing when I close UA-cam? That’s so weird
Wtf you're right. Us this actually a setting on the creator can set...?
@@eon5323 I have absolutely no idea, it’s the most baffling thing
When did people start calling augmented reality “mixed” reality
The biggest thing for me is the price difference. One is kind of manageable. The other out of many people's reach. It's a hard choice because most would want the quest 3 but can't afford it.
well I mean, the quest 2 now have a great deal from Amazon of £249 which is a £199 Quest 2+ £50 gift card bundle, so it is makes Quest 2 a really sweet deal thou, It would be more worthy to wait for next opportunity for Quest 3 to lower the price to about £300 and at that point you could choose Quest 3 for the MR :)
I was gonna get that but wanted to sleep on it and not it's sold out☠️
@@illegal_memer2220 well I bought it right on the start of the sale date so lol
I bought one last night wild that it’s sold out already.
@@illegal_memer2220BRO ME TOO LIKE FUCK
I've seen this deal and im so tempted to get it! I've never used a vr set but I'm also tempted to wait for the q3, I'm not sure what to dooo
Ok, i have a question:
is it worth it to buy it, if I most of the time using air link ?
Great review 👏 hit all the points I wanted to know about without bogging me down. Keep on being awesome 👌
Not all the points. Missed one tini tiny detail.
The quest 2 has double the storage of the $500 quest 3. Kinda an important point don’t ya think?
Of course unless you want to compare $750 q3 vs $200 q2. This would have been a good point.
thanks, this video was so helpfull!
Dont forget the resolution
In short from what I have been reading through the comments: if you don't have a VR headset yet and this is your first get Quest 3. If you already have Quest 2, don't, it is not a significant upgrade
What if I'm new to VR but I wanna keep the headset for a long time?
if you can afford the quest 3 you have to go with it, quest 2 is old, it's an adventage you haven't bought a q2 as upgrading is less recommended.
I still use my quest 2 for beatsaber and i dont really have the need to upgrade
i dislike that they ditched the tracking ring.... man i was using that as a stand for my controllers when racing
if your thinking buying new hardware is a good idea because it will "age better over time" you really need to rethink EVERYTHING
Just for watching VR videos...is there any difference between them?
Not really, I have the quest 3 for 2 weeks now . I gave my quest 2 to my little sister. At first I was blown away by the quest 3 graphics but now they look the same with the quest 3 being slightly better. Another thing the battery on the quest 3 doesn’t last as long as the quest 2 you will need a battery bank 😐
@@boomboombaby9140how much money do you have in bank I'm not asking credit card
Great video with honest answers. Thinking on getting one of the two headsets 128GB but I think I will pay the little extra for the Quest 3.
For them 2 questions 1: I’m going to keep it up to 3 years and 2: I’m new to be and I like the quest 3 bc the 3 things in the front of the headset
What about the hand tracking which is better
So, The difference is really just AR.
Going to keep quest 2 for a few more years.
That's what you took away from this? No. I have had my q2 for a couple years, and just got my q3 yesterday. The q3 has way better tracking and overall performance. If you play fast-paced sword fighting/boxing games like I do, the q3 is the one you want.
@@privateuser7 Gotcha
I am going to purchase vr quest. Kindly suggest the mixed reality is available in both quest 2 and quest 3....?? If mixed reality is available in quest 2 then I would prefer to buy quest 2 only.... Kindly confirm is it available???
quest 2 is not a mixed reality headset. is a vr headset. quest 2 only uses it's cameras to show you when you're close to bounduries and about to hit something in the real world, not to mix within reality. as it cannot mix with reality because of the fact that the cameras are very low quality, which totally nullifies the reality part.
I really REALLY want one for my birthday!! I've been asking my parents for a vr headset for like 8 months now 😢😢😢
I got my quest 2. 4 Christmas and gettin my 3 for my bday I'm watching this to know what is better
I never had a vr headset ( apart from google cardboard)
I was thinking of buying the quest 2 cause of the price difference
But that piano demo really looks cool
but is it extra 300 bux cool

Im from Argentina. a poor contry, if you gain 1000000$ pesos you are almost rich (1450 pesos = 1 usd)
Ok, with that in mind, you can buy a meta quest2 (the same in the video) in mercado libre (amazon of latin america) for 975000 pesos or 672 dollars.

Thanks sir. Do you have any thoughts about the Google chromecast capabilities? I noticed on the quest 2 it is not as reliable.
Damn I wonder what vr is going to look like in 2034
It's gonna be a bed😂
I’m blind in one eye would that mean I wouldn’t be able to use this ?
How big is your front room to have a robot vacuum??!

I just got my daughter the meta 3 it's way better it's not as heavy and the cameras are more advanced my daughter is so happy ❤❤
You can use these on any Xbox series x game? Like dragon dogma 2?
