@@Lockn4r Shocking Tracking behavior never fixed in 3 years. Both pro and normal controllers have very poor tracking when playing games requiring fast motion such as Tennis or boxing. I've broken two controllers because they wouldn't track the wall during a fast swing. This is very disappointing considering the high cost of the pro controller (250 USD) Customer support is very unhelpful and they ask you to purchase new products or go to an out of warranty program where you will be out of pocket. Very very poor when its their fault the controller broke in the first place. Definitely not buying meta again.
As a non gamer granny, my son got me into VR, he’s always been interested in it. I’m so happy that he did. I’m currently playing Red Matter 2, a fantastic game, still having problems moving as I’m getting used to more precision on the controllers, but that will improve with practice. That’s just one aspect, I love the meditation apps as well as beat sabre and mini golf. I haven’t tried any of the social worlds yet, maybe in the future. And as my grandkids have a headset, we can now discuss games, it’s brought us closer together, especially as they live in Australia and I’m in Canada. And your little one is a treasure, love the pup as well.
I'm gonna tell ya right off the bat--- as someone who is barely even a "casual" gamer-- VR is excellent for seniors in terms of fitness, movement, reaction times, staying lively, etc. Get Rx lenses (use your distance Rx from your progressives).
THE Same things that make it a fitness device : make me use 4x more diclofenac for OA pain in my knees. but more enjoyable than standing at the grocery store I plan to use mine more
I agree, I'm older as well and really enjoy the physical and mental exercise I get from VR. I have toured the world, kayayed through the jungle and Antarctica, as well as enjoyed many of the games I used to sit and play on the PC. I work outside everyday so I am not a sedentary person, but I enjoy the occasional FPS games on my PC. The VR has taken that to a whole new level and allowed me to get off the chair and immerse myself. I visited the local VR Adventure Zones with the grandnephew to try it first and see what all the fuss was about. Really enjoyed it, and decided to purchase the MetaQuest 3 based upon my experience.
VR will go mainstream as hardware improves and software continues to be more compelling. People struggled with eye strain when TV was invented. They typed one word a minute when everyone started using computers for AOL. People experienced dizziness when 3D first person shooters came out. VR games and other experiences are getting more innovation. It's not just the immersion factor. Aiming weapons and tools with your hands is more faster and accurate than a thumbstick or mouse. Using melee weapons with your arms is more engaging. Looking around with your head is better than moving a camera with a gamepad. Being able to see other players body language is awesome. And its easier to see small things like inventory icons and hidden items with a lifelike scale display.
I think it will go mainstream by the earlier 2030's. Once Headsets transition into thick-glasses(With no top middle strap for weight distribution), are noticeably lighter, have higher resolution, use wireless connectivity to consoles for a lot more power etc. Basically eliminating those pesky friction points or barriers that prevent most people from giving it a chance. As of now, headsets like Q3 are still headsets, are kind of heavy, plus the tablet visuals won't cut the mustard for most, and the resolution, as awesome as pancake clarity is, with just over 2K per eye is still isn't comparable to 4K resolution on a TV. I think by Quest 5(Oct 2029), Meta will have found true success, and Nintendo will probably jump on board with VR/MR as a side accessory for Switch 3, and Sony may just in fact jump back in to get a piece of that pie, with PS6
Yes it’s more engaging, but it’s definitely not quicker than controller clicking. Raising ur arm and doing the whole motion is much longer than simply clicking a button
@@jasonkarger81 Using your arms for melee combat isnt faster, its for immersion. Aiming weapons though is faster and more accurate. Your hand has much more finesse than a thumbstick, and targets are easier to hit on a lifelike scale display vs a tv or monitor. Not to mention Quest controllers have lower input latency than any bluetooth gamepad, even on pcvr. For example, I can mine so much faster in No Mans Sky, being able to hit rocks far off in the distance with ease.
@@blastofo ohh yea true. I misread what u said originally my b. I was wondering cuz I’m very new to VR, what’s the best way to not get motion sickness cuz that’s the main thing holding me back
@@jasonkarger81 You can start with VR titles with a fixed perspective. Puzzling Places is probably my most played VR game. I cant get tired of it, even after hundreds of hours. Moss 1 and 2 are also excellent. Vegas Infinite is free and very good. And games that are mixed reality or have passthrough background options are good for making the transition. But you'll get used to VR and the motion sickness will go away with time. Just take some breaks, have some ginger, or those anti nausea tablets people use when going on ships.
Since I picked up a Q3 in February, you've been one of my favorite guides into the world of VR. As a long time gamer, I'd been wanting to get into VR for a while but couldn't justify the price of a new PC at the time. Once I finally upgraded to a PC that could run PCVR (not great, but enough to run No Man's Sky), I heard about Quest 3. It would fulfil my PCVR needs AND run stand alone. This means I can play stuff like Alyx and NMS at home and bring the Q3 to work so I can relax on break. I was thinking about picking up a second headset when the rumors of Q3s started getting more common, but no specs were out yet. Then the Q2 price dropped and I decided that rather that wait for 3s, I'd grab a Q2 and wait to see what the specs for 3s were. Now that we have better info on 3s, I'm leaning towards just getting another Q3. I won't bother with another 512g, for a spare/secondary the 128n should be fine. Then I'll be all set for a little local play with friends, or watching shows with my GF.
I bought a Quest 3 about 4 days ago and love it. I previously had a PS4 VR and the technology has come far from that era. Even just using it as a triple monitor is worth the price over buying two more monitors as you can rescale them in Meta for several feet each.
I still have the PSVR1 lying around. Do you think it's worth it to get rid of the PS4 OG and PSVR1 and move to Quest 3? I now use a PC with 4070 Super 12GB.
Even if VR games aren't your thing, having your own personal movie theater (and "adult" VR videos) while laying I'm bed is a no-brainer, so the Q2 is perfect for that. I personally love my Q3 and use it at least 3 hours a day for gaming - it's magic 🎩 ✨️
The ability to have a cinema sized screen whileaying in my bed, dozens of full sized mini golf courses, a Table Tennis table that I can play whenever, a bowling alley, and exercise programs is invaluable and worth the $500 alone.
Last year I took in on a 5 hour flight ✈️ just enough battery packs, while everyone else was on their dinky laptops and phones, I was in another universe 🥰
With the fix that allows one to watch Netflix via the Meta browser at a much better resolution than the Netflix app it's been amazing to watch my shows that way. I love the 4 screen sizes they offer and it's a great viewing experience for me.
After watching the video for just three minutes, I noticed that Meta Quest 3 128GB Virtual Reality VR Headset with Controllers Standalone was selling for US $427.49 on Ebay. I only have $120 saved. I only need $300 next month to cover the cost of $420 plus a little extra, plus $300 for food. I do not really take virtual reality games too seriously right now; my main activities are going to the movies, playing Vrchat, and browsing the web.
I had a PSVR for awhile when I decided to make the jump to a new system. I found that I really liked the games, but being tethered to the console meant being tucked away in the basement away from everybody and I didn't play it as often as I wanted. Now with the Quest 3, being able to play it anywhere is a game changer. I'm having an absolute blast with it and play it most days.
The pancake lenses in the Q3 are amazing! I can't go back. I do still like flat screen, but I haven't had the motivation to play it. I'm always throwing on my Q3. I've no joke been dreaming about VR since I was a child, so I'm happy.
I'm with you on that one. After being so accustomed to Q3, going back to the PSVR2's Fresnel lenses can be pretty rough, topped with the high persistence/Motion blur OLED display, being tethered to a cable, headset discomfort due to the lack of padding around the nose area, Mura, and those Ring'd controllers can even rub against the side of your hands which can be annoying. I'll miss those deep blacks & rich/vibrant colours though! :P If Sony ever did a PSVR2 revision, I'll be there day one. But based on now, Q3 + PC(4090, and then 5090 towards the end of the year) is the ultimately way to fly for VR.
@@W-C-F-o1k Sticker price for an RTX4090 is steep. I'll probably just shoot for a 4080 on sale. It's tough to justify though when I'm not even hardcore into VR or gaming outside of Switch, plus retro stuff. Heck, i barely touch my PS5. I've got a Switch, PS5, Quest 3 & PSVR2(boxed up) as far as modern goes gaming goes, but eh. I wish Meta would just allow wireless connectivity to XBOX Series X already. Since it's a more affordable and easy plug and play solution, compared to the expensive friction point-heavy mess that is PC VR.
I've had the Oculus DK2, Samsung gearVR, and PS VR. So not really up with all the latest and best tech, but not a "beginner".. Just got the Q3 like 2 weeks ago, I love it so much. The amount of apps, versatility, support,... "diy" stuff. I love "real" gaming too, I have a PS5 and a decent PC...but the standalone aspect is so enjoyable so far, I still haven't bothered to hook it up to my PC. Games I've tried are satisfying enough so far (11 table tennis, walkabout minigolf etc). The personal theater (Plex, SMB folder etc) and multimonitor functionalities are already killer apps IMO. So should you buy it now? I'd say yes. edit: oh and the (cheap) accessories availabilty and selections can also be a must.
I know you talk mainly to an American public, but the Pico4 is still a good option. I have both the Pico4 and Quest3 and for PCVR there is hardly any difference. The Quest3 wins just slightly.. There's a Pico4s coming, which is unlikely the Quest3s, an improvement over the Pico4. So I have heard. The Pico4 is much better than the Quest2 and cheaper than a Quest3. I like both.
Both of my headsets are HTC. PCVR and standalone. I'm happy with them. But, games are secondary for me in VR. Building and designing my own spaces, art, animation is what pulled me in.
PSVR2: Village, Resident Evil 4, Switchback VR, No Man's Sky, Gran Turismo 7, Whitewater VR Quest 3: Miracle Pool, Premium Bowling, Walkabout Mini Golf, Spheres, Astra I have both. PSVR2 for the more graphically demanding games not on Quest. And Quest for everything else not on PSVR2, and wireless (playing mini golf without the wire getting in my way is wonderful).
Great video, I like the humility w.r.t. not everyone enjoying VR past the honey moon. Also, I think a small mention of the Pico 4S could have been warranted, as in the "cheaper than Q3" category, especially for wireless PCVR, it may be quite good (4S will be better than 4, it's more like 4.5). They got a certification recently, so it may be officially announced in a couple months or so.
Pico 4 is awesome, good performance, quality, PCVR works great, and its almost half the price. Too bad that it doesn't get all the games that get on Quest 3.
@@Gamingwithmatteo311, I agree with @dreamer5234 on this one. For my money, there are ways in which my Pico 4 is still much better than even the Quest 3, and it beats the hell out of the Quest 2 in almost every way, starting with those lenses. Don't get me wrong, I genuinely enjoy using my Quest 3... when I get the chance, because, real life. But the binocular overlap of the Pico 4 is substantially better than even the Quest 3, and the Pico 4's balance and weight, despite actually being a little heavier than the Quest 3 in its natural state, is hands-down better, particularly once I got hold of a better-fitting (for me) facial interface and, again in my case, added AMVR's overpriced, but good "halo" addition. I know some people were unimpressed with the brightness, but it's never bothered me--in fact, I have it turned down a bit from full. And for my money, the Pico 4's balance makes using it for exercise much more enjoyable for me than what I experience with using the Quest 3. Oh, and it's still comparable to the Quest 3 when it comes to using it for PCVR play. As to its not being available in the US, I got my Pico 4, new, from a trustworthy seller in Japan through eBay. It took a week or so before they sent it off, as they said upfront that it would, but once they did send it, it arrived so quickly that I was genuinely shocked. Recently heard that the Pico 4S has been certified by South Korea, so its seems to be official--and I'll be one of the first in line to get hold of it.
Yes, VR is not for everyone and most VR headsets are expensive, some more than others. Plus many of the VR headsets require a very good computer and graphics cards to enjoy the VR world. Also the games and applications will cost a certain amount of money besides just the VR headset costs. It depends on what computer activities you do, social, gaming, work, etc. VR can be used for each of these. Many VR headsets have allot of features and quality differences. Do you need wireless operations, eye tracking, good pass through capabilities, and high resolutions? How comfortable will the VR headset be if worn for long periods of time? I have been using several VR headsets since the first Oculus Rift came out and always been a PC system user. I do mainly gaming with the headsets and enjoy the immersion we get with VR. There are many you tube videos on the various VR headsets out now or soon to be released, so watch them and see if any of them fit your bill to using VR, and compare pricings. Take care.
I play PSVR 2 for 3 hours straight (almost 1 year and a half) , never stumbled on the wire, get to play lenghty, oustanding PC VR ported titles, plus Giants like Re Village, RE 4 Remake, GT7, Synapse, Cross fire sierra squad and August 7 we're getting PC VR adaptor, to play those titles with a premium OLED screen, and Sense controllers. Quest 3 lovers don't metion any of these, cuz they enjoy playing small experiences from indie devs all day in a heavy and uncomfortable headset where batteries last for 1:40 and take 2 hrs to recharge. The graphics are a joke!, I sold my quest 3 because I can't downgrade my PSVR 2 experience to that grade, and it was like he said, I played quest 3 for 30 min and it was enough. Quest 3 is ONLY RECOMMENDED for PC VR and lame MIxed reality experiences, to watch movies, but for gamming (and future pc vr option) PSVR 2 is the goat. But that will not never come off from somebody who doesn't play PSVR 2. But fake, and degrading news about it... Yes!
pcvr slays, sony takes ball and goes home, psvr2 owners come crawling to magnanimous PCVR community who helpfully keep producing content for their device after sony sold them out.
One thing I'll say that I almost never see being mentioned, and that's being able to connect to your PC, and playing your flat-screen games on a gigantic screen that you can have anywhere in your room in MR, or just having the massive screen in another construct. I've been using it for Elden Ring, and it's incredible. I think if you ever get a Quest 3, I strongly recommend a Bobo strap since it has the hotswap batteries. They allow me to stay inside VR almost indefinitely once I have 2 batteries.
I use my Quest 2 to PCVR with a Cloud PC. this also lets me take PCVR anywhere I can get decent Wifi and where I live pretty much everyone has adequate speeds. So I can show off the best of VR on my Quest 2...anywhere.
Since i am mainly a sim gamer since the early 2000s, VR really enhanced the experience. Even with the Quest 3 was being announced, I went ahead and bought a used Q2 as a trial. I also played a lot of the standalone games for a while but never really made me stick with standalone and even with the current announcement, nothing really made me appreciate standalone compared to PCVR sim gaming. For a much lesser cost, since it was on sale in my country, I upgraded to a Pico 4. And I am so happy with my purchase, it was so cheap as a new Quest 2 but have better resolution and pancake lenses and since i never cared about mobile games. I still keep my Quest 2 for workout in VR, and just as a back up.
watched this on my quest 3! I had a spine operation so Im using it laying down. Stellaris is great and Ive watched tons of movies. It has saved me from total boredom.
I'm lucky enough to have psvr2 and quest 3. The pancake lenses of the quest 3 are amazing, no having to shift the headset around constantly to find the sweet spot, but the psvr2 while the mura can affect some ppl, just feels like you're in the game more. Kind of hard to explain but it just feels bigger. If you have to make a choice tho I'd say quest 3 is a no brainer, as it has amazing stand alone games along with tons of other functions, plus obviously basically seamless pcvr compatible if you have a good enough pc for vr.
That's a good point, VR won't replace flat screen gaming just like video games can't replace paper RPGs. I struggled with this for a while. I wanted to swear off flat screen, but there is just too much value that doesn't work in VR. That chill experience. If my Q2 stopped working today I would probably go out and get a Q3. I feel like a lot of resources were wasted on AR, but no point in going backwards. If Q3s doesn't have pancake lenses, it will be a waste at any price.
As much as i don’t like meta as a company, i love my q3. You can’t deny it’s the best vr headset. It’s affordable, you can use it without anything else and the resolution is genuinely good in pcvr. It’s insane how almost any other vr headset is more expensive and requires you to connect it to a pc.
Advice is legit, Quest 3 is the way to go. We'd all like it to be more competitive but it is what it is! Wouldn't mind a Deckard or Virtual Boy 2 though
Nintendo definitely would've crushed it. And they'd do it for cheap. And definitely Valve. Thier hardware is great. You're right. Even though both of my headsets are HTC, I think Valve and Nintendo are 2 companies that would get it right and I would buy it.
@@JAHDUBProductions absolutely. I think Nintendo would wait until they can make sure it's fun and accessible. I wouldn't expect a powerhouse, but I would expect some good experiences 😄
I have a G2 and am thinking about replacing it with either a Crystal Light or Q3. I don't like Meta which is the main reason I haven't already bought one, but I'd really like to play their exclusives. I worry about the setup of the Q3 for PC use though. I've never used one and I've seen a lot of people have issues getting it to work properly and I also don't have a smart phone to activate it (don't judge me lol). I'm planning on buying a cheap tablet to set it up (this really shouldn't be something people have to do). That's just the initial setup and doesn't include all the problems I've seen people have with individual games. I still think I'm going to give it a try but it's a big purchase for me with a lot of unknowns.
I also play both, I can only play VR for maybe 2 hours then I throw my Quest 3 on the charger and play Pinball or Flat PC games or console stuff. I usually play VR 3 or 4 nights a week the rest is flat, never limit yourself you can enjoy multiple types of gaming! soo many good games coming out, For VR Batman looks sick and NFL Pro Era 2025 looks amazing! ! For PC/Console Space Marine 2, Civ 7, Indiana Jones and Marvel Rivals! Great time to be a gamer!
I just got the quest 3 and I must say the 3d effects in it is really understated. It must be how they angled the screens but it basically just feels like 2d with a hint of depth. Will be returning these for sure. Surprised this isn't talked about more.
Great video. I've had a Valve Index for the last couple of years. My main complaints are: 1. The vast majority of games are not that good. Even the ones that get high ratings are almost always meh, especially compared to traditional flat screen games. So once I got past the initial phase of the VR experience being novel and amazing, I started shifting back to flat screen gaming, since the games there are just way better. In fact, one of the only games I still play in VR is Beat Saber, which is arguably more of a workout app than a game (but Beat Saber is awesome). On that note, to be fair, there are also some other good workout options in VR. 2. The Valve Index in particular is not that good for watching TV / movies. The number one reason for this is the glare. The Index has an absolutely terrible glare problem, where as soon as the scene you're looking at is even slightly dark, tons of glare becomes apparent, which is very distracting and causes a huge loss of image contrast. I quickly just went back to watching media on a regular TV (or even my phone), primarily because of the glare problem. But from what I gather, this problem does not exist (or at least is far less apparent) with the Quest. So the Quest might be a really great option for watching TV / movies in particular, especially while travelling. Ultimately, my experience with VR has been that it plateaued a few years ago and will not get significantly better in the foreseeable future. And the state that it's in now is quite meh once you get past the initial novelty.
I liked that you touched on this question again out of cycle of a new headset release. Good to post something up to date for those that are considering it. Also, I like the points you were covering. Especially I do know folks that really want that high production AAA graphics level. So right there they wouldn't appreciate the gameplay of some of the current VR titles that are amazing in their own right.
A week ago, I got 2 brand new sealed quest 3 512gb each for only $350 total, from this lady who got pissed at her kids.. one for me, and I'm saving the other one for my daughter's birthday in 2 weeks.. 💪🏽
Great breakdown. I had the Quest 2 and 3 both since launch. The Quest 2 has provided me with so much value over the years but I agree that the Quest 3 is a significant upgrade. I just got the V77 upgrade last night and now I can pin multiple screens and windows where I want them. I have now relegated my Quest 2 as my fitness and local social headset for when my gf/friends are over. I was open to the Crystal Light but it just seems way too bulky and apparently, my RTX 3080 in my PC isn't even powerful enough to run it.
You can get pico 4 if you already got the pc setup And for go you can buy some games on it It really has a huge library But if you have no pc, it's better to go with queat 3
I just want to figure out what the best option is for long sessions of VRChat, as I used to enjoy it a ton, but then my mother monopolized the headset for her piracy, meaning I can't update the headset without getting in her way, so I'd like to buy my own to get time in a semi-physical manner with my partner again.. we're seperated by an ocean, and I remember the quest 2 had memory issues a lot with VRChat, so I'm debating if I want to commit to $400+ just for that, or try to find another quest 2. I'll try to wait until September, but. I'm antsy, as I really, *really* miss just watching movies with him or wandering new worlds together, or just even existing next to each other, y'know? It was nice.. I miss messing with the cooking worlds, drink mixing worlds, arcade worlds, avatar worlds.. and the pc just doesn't give that same feeling of being *next to him* like the other stuff does.
Great Job on explaining all the different VR Headsets. I have the PSVR and the PSVR 2. I love them both and I cant wait for the adapter to play the PSVR 2 on my PC. I think your analysis on the Meta Quest 3 is accurate. My son has the Meta Quest 3 and loves it but I already have 2 VR headsets, so thats enough for me as of now. Anyways thankyou and great job.
At only 200 grab a q2 and try it out for that 30 day return policy that everywhere has . Any game you put on it goes to an app anyways and in that 30 days, you can decide whether to stay with the two upgrade to the three or forget it all together
You can find plenty of games that you can play for hours a day. There's several pvp games (and only a couple are good), amazing visual novels, and table top games like demeo. There's also quite a few single player vr games (half life alyx), flat screen games with vr support (no man sky), vr ports (skyrim vr), and mods (UEVR/cyber punk 2077 vr mod).
I just upgraded to the quest 3 form the 2 and wow! I don’t need my custom lenses like on the 2. Watched fallout on the prime app and loved the theatrical experience.
I have a quest two and a quest one and I absolutely love my quest three. WAY better looking. And I don't get motion sickness when I used to because of the better power.
Hi Matteo. Love your videos and keeping me up to date with the latest VR news. My wife is an educator and wants to conduct an experiment on learning and retention by kids using VR in a classroom setting. Any games you'd recommend on a Quest 2/3? Thanks! See you on the next live stream!
I’m going to have to strongly disagree with the 30 minute to an hour. If that was the case, people wouldn’t be buying head straps with batteries you can get that amount of playtime from the battery that comes with the Quest 3. I’m usually in for an hour and a half to three hours. I don’t find first person shooters to be all that physical either it’s point and shoot.
It may sound like a Quest 3 promotional video. Well, technically, it is. However, that's because the Quest 3 really is the best value there is. Resolution is better than the Index. FOV is not horribly narrower. Unlike the Index, the Quest 3 is constantly updated. The Quest 3 is a whole environment when you use it. I mothballed my Index after picking up a Quest 3. It's just better. While lighthouse tracking is better in theory, the Quest 3 tracking has not let me down. I had more problems with IR reflections off patio doors with Index than I have with the Quest. It's possible to be conflicted by hating Zuckerberg and Facebook yet still love the Quest 3. I'm glad such deep pockets are behind the Quest 3 and he is so jazzed about VR.
I love my Quest 3 but I have been somewhat tempted to get a Pimax Crystal for higher quality visuals. On the other hand, my Quest 3 is doing a great job so I'm hesitant to spend the extra money for a headset that might not be that much better. I do play Quest games, so the Crystal won't ever replace it but it MIGHT be a nice addition.
Yea I would consider another 100$ on top for some accessories like a nice head strap (like the ones your sponsor Kiwidesign makes) it improves the experience a lot. Apart from that the Q3 is amazing and I have a PS5 as well. It’s just a very different type of gaming.
Really nice overview. For PCVR only I still recommend the quest 2 (Assuming the pc or steam updates don't break it in the future). But yeah for gaming probably stick to the quest 3.
@Matteo311 feels like you skipped out on the elephants in the room on why some are hung up about purchasing: Apple Vision Pro offers a better processor, eye tracking, higher resolution & better display tech, better pass-through. What will be the Meta response to this? Meta have already proven eye tracking & updates to pass-through while maintaining higher FOV so together we could have a strong competitor to the high-end available around the corner. All that's needed is a conversation with Qualcomm and display manufacturers like LG. With the release of Snapdragon X Elite it appears as though there's likelihood for a better processor on the immediate horizon, but Meta are very quite (likely so as not to cannibalise Quest 3 sales). I guess we'll wait and see.
Have a Quest 2 and a PSVR 2. Was thinking of upgrading to a Quest 3 but with the upcoming PSVR 2 PC adapter, no longer need to. One headset - two platforms. Sweeet!
Is it possible for the VR mod community to port over and optimize that incredible Shark Encounter from PSVR1 Worlds 'Ocean Descent', and Astro Bot: Rescue Mission for Quest 3 + PC?
@@muppetonmeds Ya, hopefully it happens. It would be such a shame for both titles to be left for dead on PSVR1. Since the resolution is just too low, the screen door effect is awful and the entire set up is just an octopus of cables and adapters. You'd think these two games would of been ported over and optimized RIGHT at launch for PSVR2. Huge missed opportunity. Ocean Descent should of been a free pack-in, with 2000x2040 per eye, 110d FOV, with deeper OLED blacks(PSVR1's are surprisingly lighter, even though it's an OLED display), head haptics, improved visuals, and maybe 70fps instead of 60fps if possible.
It’s as simple as this, the quest 3 is great if you love mixed reality and personally I think mixed reality is way better if you have a small play space. That being said, the quest 2 is great and I still love it and use it!! In game the graphics aren’t really different.
only Quest 3 has Batman Arkham Shadow and future exclusives. the only real reason to get a Quest 2 is if you REALLY want VR right now but can't spend $500 other than that, either get a Quest 3 or wait for 3S.
Love my MQ3 and want to try PCVR but I don’t think my PC can handle it … so I’m wondering what PC to buy without going nuts that can handle half life Alex
I think a lot of people wajt that. I think tue Quest 3 exclusive games will start doing that. We already got some with Asgard's Wrath 2 and Assassin's Creed Nexus. I'm glad we are moving past when the average length for a game was around 2-4 hours.
OMG, Matteo! I love my Quest 3 but after this video I’m really confused! Lol. I understand you were giving all the facts and making sure viewers have all the info they need to make a good decision. But for me I just realized all the options and other reasons for different headsets and so now I’m dazed and confused, so thanks! Just kidding, very thorough review and I hope it does help nubies and those considering VR the best way to go….i just don’t need the anxiety!!! 😂
I am always surprised at how frustrated people get when someone says the Quest 3 is probably the best option for most people when it comes to VR. The fact is that Quest 3 is the most affordable option around and offers a ton of functionality and games on top of it. PSVR2 is really cool too but it's costly to get into unless you already have a PS5 and PCVR headsets cost just as much as the damn PC lol
I was thinking about buying a Meta Quest 3 because I haven't finished building my PC to play VR(I have the valve Index) and realistically, $500 towards a PC is better than $500 towards instant gratification
Hey a question: Can you use a Q3 with glasses? I could do it with the Oculus Rift with no problems, but not sure if I should get contact lenses for the Q3 (if I buy one that is)
Thanks for the video! What should I get if I only plan to use this for streaming content at night in bed? Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, HBO NBA/ESPN. Don't really wanna spend $429 unless it's the only option that makes sense. Thanks!
For me personally, if the Quest 3 supports DisplayPort direct connection, it will become the perfect VR device. I hope the Quest Pro2 can offer this feature.
If I get the chance I will buy a used Quest 3, but as time has gone on my interest in Vr has lessened, along with the space I once had to use it since I barely have room now, I think VR will get big eventually, but as it stands right now, we are years out from it becoming very widely used aka maintstream
Shocking Tracking behavior never fixed in 3 years.
Not to mention you can play most of the resident evil games on PC with mods. The only thing that comes close to the Quest series in bang for the buck is the Pico series.
I love my quest 3, yeah yeah it’s Meta and no I don’t necessarily like that but it’s got a very decent lineup and I use wireless with my pc and it works great via virtual desktop.
I was in honeymoon period for 2 months then didnt touch it for another two months and then went back to honeymoon with daily use and currently in weekend use phase.
I have a nice pc to run PCVR through my Quest 3, I have had my Quest 3 for quite a while and I still haven't set it up to run pc games yet. I haven't felt the need as there is so much to do on the Quest 3 by itself.
If you're going to buy a quest you obviously should buy the quest 3 over the two but as far as game releases there's new games on this headset every week compared to consoles the quest is actually better with variety over console gaming right now
I have an HP Reverb G2, headset experience has been great, so clear, same off-ear headphones as the Index, though the controllers are average. But thanks to Microsoft, this perfectly capable headset will become a paperweight soon, the newest Window update is straight up removing the WMR app that connects the hardware to the experiences. It’ll straight up just stop working with no effort to even leave something like an open source driver for the community to keep these headsets from becoming unnecessary E-waste. Gutted. Looking forward to whatever Valve may be cooking up. Quest 3 looks cool!
Amazon is a pretty good option with their liberal 30 day return policy and 90 days I think starting in November. Long enough period to see if you like the headset.
I just got a Ps Vr2 haven’t open it yet, I also picked up a Quest 3 because it’s more I believe versatile… than the Ps vr2 … I’m at a hard debate!!!! lol
Why would S be a model for a cheaper version? What if they drop the MQ3 price and introduce MQ3S (a version with maybe OLED displays, eye tracking and other additional stuff from the Meta Quest Pro. Though I would be happy either way. I'm thinking of getting one and if I can get either a cheaper or a better version in a couple of months, I don't mind waiting!
@lsauperl the vr industry desperately needs a growing user base. The most important factor to buyers is the price. High end doesn't sell. This is why consoles are normally sold at a loss.
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 I agree, that's the main reason why I haven't yet bought any of the Quest devices, I have experienced the first one (Rift or something) and Meta Quest 2, but right now the only reason why I don't already have MQ3 is because of price.

VR Char is the best VR thing. Thank you stranger for you
I'm gonna tell ya right off the bat--- as someone who is barely even a "casual" gamer-- VR is excellent for seniors in terms of fitness, movement, reaction times, staying lively, etc. Get Rx lenses (use your distance Rx from your progressives).
THE Same things that make it a fitness device : make me use 4x more diclofenac for OA pain in my knees. but more enjoyable than standing at the grocery store
I plan to use mine more
I'm a senior (sorry picture is old), and use my VR headsets every day mainly for fitness. I do games, but often don't have much time for it...
I agree I too am a casual gamer and VR is way better for us
VR will go mainstream as hardware improves and software continues to be more compelling.
I'm glad to help you navigate the world of vr
I bought a Quest 3 about 4 days ago and love it. I previously had a PS4 VR and the technology has come far from that era. Even just using it as a triple monitor is worth the price over buying two more monitors as you can rescale them in Meta for several feet each.
I still have the PSVR1 lying around. Do you think it's worth it to get rid of the PS4 OG and PSVR1 and move to Quest 3? I now use a PC with 4070 Super 12GB.
Does the pass thru blur your irl monitors at all?
@@divye.ruhela it's significantly better, imo.
@@fnord_lander the blur that does exist isn't bad. Kinda like looking through a cellphone camera.
Bro stop gooning 😭
With the fix that allows one to watch Netflix via the Meta browser at a much better resolution than the Netflix app it's been amazing to watch my shows that way. I love the 4 screen sizes they offer and it's a great viewing experience for me.
Or hook it up to your PC and play Half-life alyx. That is still the most impressive thing I have seen in VR.
I do not really take virtual reality games too seriously right now; my main activities are going to the movies, playing Vrchat, and browsing the web.
go for used ones , you dont need 427$
If Sony ever did a PSVR2 revision, I'll be there day one. But based on now, Q3 + PC(4090, and then 5090 towards the end of the year) is the ultimately way to fly for VR.
@@NintenPizza that's awesome! I wish i could afford a vr pc. Play lone echo for me!
@@W-C-F-o1k
Sticker price for an RTX4090 is steep.
I'm actually gonna buy a Q3 tomorrow, been thinking about it a long time now, but I think its the time...
PSVR2: Village, Resident Evil 4, Switchback VR, No Man's Sky, Gran Turismo 7, Whitewater VR
Quest 3: Miracle Pool, Premium Bowling, Walkabout Mini Golf, Spheres, Astra
I have both.
It's also not sold in the US 😞 and only has the performance of a Quest 2
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 I don't live in the US, and the performance is a bit better than Quest 2
Yes!
Sony is done making vr games no more triple A experience
pcvr slays, sony takes ball and goes home, psvr2 owners come crawling to magnanimous PCVR community who helpfully keep producing content for their device after sony sold them out.
My opinion yes. I bought mine a few days after launch. I love the mixed reality.
Excellent overview and recommendations! Thanks
Yes! Meta has made an amazing product for a cheap price. VR is the future of gaming. And MR is the future of pretty much everything
My main complaints are:
Nice
Great breakdown. I had the Quest 2 and 3 both since launch. The Quest 2 has provided me with so much value over the years but I agree that the Quest 3 is a significant upgrade. I just got the V77 upgrade last night and now I can pin multiple screens and windows where I want them. I have now relegated my Quest 2 as my fitness and local social headset for when my gf/friends are over. I was open to the Crystal Light but it just seems way too bulky and apparently, my RTX 3080 in my PC isn't even powerful enough to run it.
You can get pico 4 if you already got the pc setup
And for go you can buy some games on it
It really has a huge library
But if you have no pc, it's better to go with queat 3
I was on the verge of buying one, but I think I'll wait 10 days to see what happens at meta connect. Thanks for the info :)
At only 200 grab a q2 and try it out for that 30 day return policy that everywhere has . Any game you put on it goes to an app anyways and in that 30 days, you can decide whether to stay with the two upgrade to the three or forget it all together
I bought a used Quest 2 with a kiwi headstrap for $30 the other day. Fully functional and I use it as a loaner for friends 😁
I love mine, the pancake lenses are just so amazing. No distortion at all and its incredible.

@@growtocycle6992 definitely piano vision, great one
This truly is one of the best reviews I've ever watched, so if you see this comment mate, great job!
Here's a better idea: if you think you might be interested in VR, buy a Quest 3. If within 30 days you really cannot stand it, return it. There
Really nice overview.
I've looked everywhere, and it's not possible yet but I'm sure someone shall figure it out. TC
@@muppetonmeds
Ya, hopefully it happens.
In game the graphics aren’t really different.
only Quest 3 has Batman Arkham Shadow and future exclusives.
the only real reason to get a Quest 2 is if you REALLY want VR right now but can't spend $500
other than that, either get a Quest 3 or wait for 3S.
@@ilikestuff8218 or wait for the quest 4 💀 in 2026 or 2027
Love my MQ3 and want to try PCVR but I don’t think my PC can handle it … so I’m wondering what PC to buy without going nuts that can handle half life Alex
I hope I’m not being rude saying this but I do want long play games with more depth to them in the future. That’s kinda why I’m on pcvr
Not rude at all
I think a lot of people wajt that. I think tue Quest 3 exclusive games will start doing that. We already got some with Asgard's Wrath 2 and Assassin's Creed Nexus. I'm glad we are moving past when the average length for a game was around 2-4 hours.
13:32 I love having multiple screens and using virtual reality for work-related purposes, as well as Netflix and UA-cam.
I love gaming but am also love fitness and find vr keeps you active rather than being a couch potato…resident evil on psvr2 is amazing
Love your content man 🙏🏽😃
Thanks dude
I am always surprised at how frustrated people get when someone says the Quest 3 is probably the best option for most people when it comes to VR. The fact is that Quest 3 is the most affordable option around and offers a ton of functionality and games on top of it. PSVR2 is really cool too but it's costly to get into unless you already have a PS5 and PCVR headsets cost just as much as the damn PC lol
You get what you pay for, if you want a better experience then the PSVR2 is the next best upgrade then after that it's PCVR
I was thinking about buying a Meta Quest 3 because I haven't finished building my PC to play VR(I have the valve Index) and realistically, $500 towards a PC is better than $500 towards instant gratification
Hey a question: Can you use a Q3 with glasses? I could do it with the Oculus Rift with no problems, but not sure if I should get contact lenses for the Q3 (if I buy one that is)
Most frames should fit, you can adjust the spacing for extra room
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 thank you!
Thanks, and hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Meta doesn't really care about pcvr, a display port is unlikely. Compression and latency has gotten much better in the past year though
Both pro and normal controllers have very poor tracking when playing games requiring fast motion such as Tennis or boxing.
I've broken two controllers because they wouldn't track the wall during a fast swing. This is very disappointing considering the high cost of the pro controller (250 USD)
Customer support is very unhelpful and they ask you to purchase new products or go to an out of warranty program where you will be out of pocket. Very very poor when its their fault the controller broke in the first place. Definitely not buying meta again.
I travel alot so which VR headset is best if I only wanna use it to watch Netflix, Hulu, movies and shows???
Quest 3
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 thank you
New to the VR world - awesome video. Had JUST the info I needed
As a new VR guy, i definitely love my quest 3. Population one & contractors showdown are taking all my damn time lol
I was in honeymoon period for 2 months then didnt touch it for another two months and then went back to honeymoon with daily use and currently in weekend use phase.
I really want a quest 3 but I no longer have a gaming computer and I'm worried that just the quest by its self wont be great.
I have a nice pc to run PCVR through my Quest 3, I have had my Quest 3 for quite a while and I still haven't set it up to run pc games yet. I haven't felt the need as there is so much to do on the Quest 3 by itself.
If you're going to buy a quest you obviously should buy the quest 3 over the two but as far as game releases there's new games on this headset every week compared to consoles the quest is actually better with variety over console gaming right now
best review i ever watched
I have an HP Reverb G2, headset experience has been great, so clear, same off-ear headphones as the Index, though the controllers are average. But thanks to Microsoft, this perfectly capable headset will become a paperweight soon, the newest Window update is straight up removing the WMR app that connects the hardware to the experiences. It’ll straight up just stop working with no effort to even leave something like an open source driver for the community to keep these headsets from becoming unnecessary E-waste. Gutted. Looking forward to whatever Valve may be cooking up. Quest 3 looks cool!
128 or 500 gb?
Now the 500 because it had a price cut
i like the quest 3, considering it’s not tethered. but if i wasn’t getting meta quest 3 itll be psvr2 ill buy.
I really like yout review, thank you😊
I need to upgrade but it still so frustrating that I cant use my quest 2 accessories and prescription lenses on the quest 3!
I apologize for my comments. I really am a big fan and was just having some harmless fun. I’ll be moving on
Amazon is a pretty good option with their liberal 30 day return policy and 90 days I think starting in November. Long enough period to see if you like the headset.
I might wait till Black Friday or holiday to see if any sales 500 is crazy for a vr headset
quest 3s should be announced soon with a cheaper price tag
I would love a quest 3 but only if i was able to sell my q2's to cover most of the cost. Im probably waiting for the q4
I got 2 quest 2s for 120 each nd that was 4 months before the quest 3 dropped
What is the name of the game at 5:16 I can’t seem to find any info on it. Thanks
that Spacial Ops footage is lookin fine 😎
Great overview
The problem is still the vr community itself is so small that a good game over there steals players from over here.
I want to get my 12 year old daughter An oculus for holidays
Is there a site i should buy it from?
The price is scaring me
@marisao6723 you can get or from meta.com, Amazon or best buy. The quest 3s is $299
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 thank you- do you think it goes on sale for Black Friday?
