    I recently posted an unboxing of the Invicta 8926ob and my initial impressions on the watch were good. I've since spent a little time with it and I'm even more impressed. For well under $100 the Invicta 8926ob is a really good value proposition. If you can find it on sale for $50 like I did on Amazon Prime day it's an absolute steal. The Invicta 8926ob most definitely doesn't suck.

    My 8926 is 10 years old. I wear it to work, to the beach, in the yard and it still looks great, still keeps good time and still waterproof....

    This was my first mechanical watch and one day at work I ran into an owner of the real deal. Mine had the Bond Nato though and he commented "nice watch" as I replied laughingly "not as nice as yours". We then put them on the desk and compared them, with the biggest difference by far being the feel of the bezel action.. I never felt anything like the bezel of the Submariner since. Overall it was nice to talk to somebody wearing a watch 100-times as expensive without being looked down upon.

      The modern Submariner bezel is outstanding. The best I’ve used, and I’ve used most of them.

      Yeah its 1 of the only invictas i have left. Just quality control on that brand is iffy. I had several that coulsnt withstand swimming in the pool without building inside condensation or leaking a bit.

    • @DefStatic
      @DefStatic 6 років тому +20

      I think you will find most of the hate is because Invita makes outrageous claims for what the price of their watches MSRP should be, on top of some really wild (although sometimes good) designs

      I think that invicta not only changed the modern man's perception of what real men should be wearing on their wrists it took fashion culture and styling by storm . when one is so used to wear a certain style for so many years it is a challenge to simply adjust to anything other than what you are used to . I own quite a few larger watches but I also own not many but a in my opinion a considerable sum of smaller diameter time pieces . it is like clothing you Don't wear shorts and a lumberjack type shirt to a wedding . this being said invicta regardless of size is jammed packed with inordinately BAM BAM BAM styling & profiling . furthermore even though invicta timepieces agree somewhat oversized for many occasion to not really be worn it puts most men with the insecurities of having to dress up .

    I had this watch in the two-tone blue dial version. It was one of the most accurate watches I owned, running about +2 seconds per day. My best friend commented on how much he liked the watch, so I gave it to him. He wears it happily as his "good watch" for two years now. A good value for the money.

      Yeah, I only tested it for a couple of weeks before I gave it away. But my daily beater is a Steinhart that is built much better but is not as accurate as that Invicta was. I guess it should be built better, it cost five times as much.

    I love the Invicta . I have owned and own many nice watches: 14060 sub , the new sub, the old 36 mm Explorer and the new iteration at 39mm. IWC's, Omegas's etc etc so many. the Invicta is a bloody good watch ;period. I think it has a fair degree of inverted snobbery myself...its been dished so much that I find that there is a lot of love for this hardy no nonsense piece. Perhaps we are all getting a bit sick of being so totally ripped off by manufacturers. When you realise that you can pick up an ETA 2824-2 for $60 it makes you wonder where the other $600 went on an average piece.. sapphire $30. The Bigger question here is why this is so little in cost but why are other brands so expensive? I have had so many watches but so few were actually worth the money. the £5000 Rolex I am wearing as I type this is so not worth £5000. Come off your high horses watch snobs and smell the coffee!. I feel a whole other conversation brewing :)

    Nice review! I think the hate towards Invicta comes from the huge gaudy bling watches they make and that hate has just spread to the entire line.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  7 років тому +6

      That makes sense. I'm honestly not familiar with any of their other offerings, but if they do have some genuinely bad watches I can see why people might just write off the whole brand. But this one certainly isn't awful in it's own right. Thanks for watching.

    • @Goatman629
      @Goatman629 6 років тому +5

      Yeah, they make some gawdy, pimp daddy stuff....but then again they make all sorts of watches including many classic-style watches. For the money you get a lot of watch. Especially the automatic ones. I had other brands of automatic watches that lost a lot of time. My old Invicta Grand Diver -that was several years old when I got it- has never lost time. It gains about a second a day, but that is not so bad compared to one make and model of automatic watch I have that lost 5 minutes a day...that other brand gets fawned on.

      Ain't nothing wrong with the big gawdy watches , some people love that shit,no it's not for everybody but they do have some pretty intriguing and detailed designs , and yes some are ugly. Simple fix, just don't don't buy stuff you don't like , if you like something why should the brand matter

    Bottom line; if you aren't a watch purist who demands a certain pedigree with near perfect fit & finish, these Invicta 8926OB & similar models offer a lot of value for the money. Why hate the brand for their gaudy, over-sized pieces, when this model is a decent watch. Can you not appreciate a Corvette if you dislike other Chevy's?

    Just purchased my first Invicta, Pro Diver, automatic, submariner homage. It's one of the least expensive watches in my collection, but one of my highest value time pieces to date. Is it perfect, of couse not, but it has so many positives even before you get to that low price (and keeps great time). Other than their Pro Divers, the rest of their brand is mostly hedious to me. I can appreciate the hate for this particular model when I think of the higher out of pocket cost I (and others) have spent for little or no more discernable quality in a number of well regarded name brand watches. This purchase has opened my eyes to the watch industry's smoke and mirrors regarding marketing/high pricing vs. value/quality in a time piece. When your heart connects to any watch, regardless of price, then that is what counts....and that my friend is priceless ! Great review, thank you.

    I've had my 9094OB since January of last year (it's now November) and I absolutely love it. For $50-$100 it's an absolutely wonderful watch. It's not a Rolex in terms of quality but you'd be nuts to expect that, and really, the build quality is just fine. The dial insert will get scratched but many watches that cost $500 don't have ceramic inserts too anyway. The movement is pretty nice and for $80 it's very decent. Overall, a very very nice watch at a very very nice price.

    Fantastic unbiased review, JBF! I bought an 8926 approx 1 yr ago out of the same curiosity you had and came to the same conclusions. Mine runs 5-10 sec fast per day. Hate the Invicta engraving on side of case, although it's hardly visible on wrist. I didn't like the polished inner links so I buffed them down with 3M Trizact 3000 grit sandpaper for a more uniform brushed finish. Also wish the lume wasn't so yellow-greenish, but as you said...for the price it's a great watch.
    I have associates with Subs of various vintages. I think the reason they hate it so much is because they consider it a copy and possibly because it indeed looks very much like their watches for a fraction of the price.
    There is no reason why Seiko could not put this far superior movement in the SNKs , SNZs and SKXs. The hacking and winding ability are superb. Seiko laughs all the way to the bank using the primitive NON-HACKING, NON-WINDING 7S26 in those models.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for watching David, and for the comments. Your point about the 7s26 in a number of Seiko watches. I couldn't agree more. It may be a reliable movement, but I think it's time to put the 7s26 out to pasture and upgrade the SNK/SNZ/SKX models to the 4r series.

    I have worn my 40mm Pro Diver/NH35 every single day for the last 5 years. Work, play, gym, beach, pool-- super accurate, takes a beating, no water issues. (I do not shower with it.) Other than some minor scuffing on my (black) bezel, it looks great. I too would prefer it without the INVICTA placed along the side edge of the case, but quite frankly that is all but invisible when wearing the watch. I recently bought 2 more to change up my wrist look, and even my very watch-savvy friends have given compliments.

    I have a 1971 Omega Speedmaster Professional. It's the epitome of form and function.
    I happened across an Invicta Diver Pro Automatic.
    I have to say I'm impressed with it and it has a tried and true Seiko or Mitoya movement.
    Mine has the NH35 jeweled rotor.
    OK the case is manufactured in Hong Kong. As are MANY "luxury" watches now.
    For the price, it's a fantastic timepiece.
    It doesn't suck. They can be had for $50 if you really hunt.

    Great review my friend!! Look forward to more reviews from you. I like that you talked about the accuracy of a normal user. I agree with you in the hr markers being so small. I own the 8926 for over 5 years now, with the Miyota Movement, and Japan Movement written by the 6 hr on the dial. It is still working perfect, it is gaining 3 second per day in my case. Great watch!!

  • @RumbleFish69

    I like Invicta watches very much and I own several myself. My favorite is the "Sea Spider" models of which I own several. However, I personally believe that every man should invest in a quality timepiece. A quality timepiece is not only an investment, but it is something of value that he can pass down to his children. In a culture where all we mostly see Apple and Samsung watches on people's wrists, it's refreshing to see an adult wearing an adult watch! Only an adult with a proper watch can stand apart from the children who partake in the electronic watch market. I am not saying Apple watches are bad, but these are not timepieces, these are phones on a wrist! Of the pricey, but still somewhat affordable watch brands, I would always recommend "Victorinox" "Breitling" and "Tag Heuer". Of the aforementioned, I own one of each and my boys have already picked the watch they will be getting when I am gone. Sure, it's great to own a so-called disposable watch, but it's also good to own a quality timepiece!

    I bought an Invicta 8926brb from Amazon 8 days ago & so far, I love the watch. I set the time to my iPhone when I first put it on & in 8 days it's gained just 15 seconds. I paid $92 for the watch & the nice thing about the brb model is that it comes with a Saphire crystal as opposed to mineral crystal. As you mentioned, the bezel is quite stiff to turn, but that's really my only criticism, & I think that to pay less than $100 for a watch that is accurate to within 2 seconds per day is outstanding value.

    I just started looking into watches. For a year and a half I’ve been wearing a Casio Ana/Digi combo that I picked up when I couldn’t find my Luminox 3000. Just recently I found the Luminox and almost on cue the Casio watch band broke. So instead of getting a new band for it I got a new band and battery for the Luminox that I bought in 2004. I don’t know about accuracy but it still works and the tritium is still bright enough after 14 years.
    I always thought that to get an automatic watch you had to spend multiple thousands of dollars. Being a disabled veteran I just won’t ever be able to do that. But I have discovered some brands recently that are much more affordable. I intend to pick up one of these Invicta pro divers soon as my first automatic watch. I also like some of the Armida and Deep Blue watches also.
    Great review!

    I personally love my Invicta Pro Diver. Its definitely my cheapest watch (got it on Prime Day for $55) , Its also one of my most accurate watches at keeping time. I also like the Invicta logo on the second hand.
    One of the first things I did with this watch, I added some silicone lube to the threads and inside of the crown, took the back off to also lube up the o-ring, and added some lube to the bezel. These few things improved the watch alot.

    I just bought an invicta; a middle of the road model as far as how attention grabbing it is. I went for a "women's" watch [a chunky 38mm one that looks like it wears more like a 40]. The main reason I got it? "Abalone" face. I just love the oceanic, rustic, kinda bohemian, handmade look it gives it. I'm well aware that it's unlikely to be real, but as someone who grew up on an island and spent a lot of time at the beach collecting shells, the "abalone" looks good to me. In my internet-wide search I found no other watch with that detail that fit the bill as far as looks and price, so I chose the Invicta. It seems that more masculine watches with abalone are rare, and I get it; only more artsy, eccentric men would wear it. Another reason I wanted to add an Invicta to the collection is because I enjoy having a "controversy" piece. That's why I have a hi point along with a glock. Hi points are sort of the invictas of the gun world. Anyway, as long as pple aren't posturing with their relatively inexpensive timepieces and appreciate them for what they are, they should rock it and not be apologetic about it. If you can get one for sub $200 at most, invicta offers SOME nice ones, and your's is a good example. All watch companies have things we like and dislike, so I wholeheartedly agree with you; it's not reasonable to reject Invicta outright do to some ugly offerings. A guy putting pple down for wearing anything sub $1000 is just as offputting as a gaudy watch, cause class isn't about money, but rather character.
    Great unpretentious vid! Thank you.

    To put things in greater perspective.
    A new NH36A movement, costs just under $40!
    I currently own one of the older versions with the miyota 8215. It's over 20 yrs old, and it gains about 15 seconds per day. The one thing that bugs me is that it's not a hacking movement. Otherwise, it's been very reliable, and I can only imagine it would be even better with the Seiko movement. I think I'll order a new one today!

    First, i got the 39mm quartz by a mistake, but i really loved the way it looked on my wrist. But then i got this one and what a difference.
    The automatic has a very smooth bezel action, it sits very well on the wrist, and the bracelet is so much better.
    My only issue with it, is that its very thick and bulky. I enjoyed the look of the 39mm more tbh. But still. A great watch.

    Im new to the watch "collecting" scene and I have recently bought myself the blue diver pro - the face has a unique tint of purple to it which looks fantastic in the right light and the bezel lines up perfectly with the 12 as well as the cyclops is centered with the date. No reason to see hate here.

I have went on and bought 2 more seikos, Sarbo17 Alpinist ,Love it and a SKX 175 Pepsi . I just got a crazy deal on a Hamilton Frogman 1000 meter 3300 feet water resistance my First Swiss automatic. Great review...I've begun to watch several of them and I'm very impressed as I've just started to get a little more serious about owning better watches and collecting. I own a handful of various Invicta model watches and can understand some of the general sentiment of dislike towards the brand for many reasons.
    I do agree with your critique of this particular Invicta model as I have just recently picked it up about a month ago on Amazon for $85.00. I've viewed it at many different price points over time, some much cheaper as you have mentioned and a bit more expensive at what I just purchased this at.
    I decided to spring for it now, knowing that I could wait and probably find it at a sale price down the road later...but needed to replace an Invicta watch which I dropped and broke.
    In deciding for what kind of replacement watch I was going to get, I said I was never going to buy another Invicta. The reason I came to that decision was due to the terrible overall durability, mostly because of what I feel is a lack of quality control and inferior materials.
    On several of the other Invicta models the indices literally fell off the dial from normal day to day wear. The last model ( a very inexpensive ( www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049IUIVA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) that I dropped on a tile floor which completely shattered the cristal and knocked all the indices loose from the dial face was kind of the last straw for me.....Though this was a very (cheap if you will) watch, I quite liked it because it kept time well over the 4+ years I owned it. The watch still works but it would be foolish to try and have it repaired, the cost would be more that looking for a new replacement.
    I've always had this notion with my experience in Invicta watches...that you either get a Wednesday watch (middle of the work week where people are paying a bit more attention to their jobs)....or a Friday watch (end of the work week where people are slacking off a bit looking to leave for the weekend) I can attest to having received both types of quality control watches from Invicta.
    So in my search for a new watch to wear daily, I have been looking at some of the Seiko models in the $2-350 dollar price range and had my sights set on several of the dive models, new and used. I felt it was time to step up and out of these cheap, cheaper type watches into something that would give me much more long lasting quality and performance and durability.
    But, due to a few other recent monetary household expenses I decided not to pull the trigger now and would look again a little farther down the road.
    So, I went back to Invicta, which I said I never would do so again and decided to give this model one last try. As I mentioned before, I've had this Invicta model, from your above review, for a little over a month now and it marks all the comments you made in your review to a tee.
    Overall I'm pleased with the Invicta Pro Diver 8926oB. I wear it as a daily work watch ( I work as an Aviation aircraft material specialist ) processing civil aircraft parts for many airline companies that do business with us....So I'm mainly on a computer terminal work station where not much damage can come to the watch I wear. So far it has keep perfect time and can be removed for at least a 24 hr time period without worry of stopping.
    I would never wear this watch anywhere near water, even under a hand sink for fear of damage. The Lume as you mentioned is terrible, as on all other Invicta watches...but I suppose that is to be expected for this price point.
    One other big complaint I have about Invicta is their warranty ( or I should say lack of) It's totally useless and would cost one more money if they ever have to use it than to replace some of their watches with a new one again.
    As for the overall construction and grade of materials used, again it seems ok, but time will tell. Even if this watch holds up over time, I will never go with another Invicta watch again. I've just wasted money for a product that in the long run doesn't hold up well.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for watching and thanks for the message. The 8926ob was my first and only Invicta. I bought it just to check it out, since the sale price was so good and there are so many conflicting opinions on it. If it lasts at least a year and holds up to typical daily wear I'd say it's well worth the money. Initial impressions are it's a pretty nice watch but if it will be as durable as some of the slightly more expensive Seiko models is the big question.

    I have a Pro Diver, but I have the one with the scalloped bezel.
    My experience has been that it's dead accurate and stands up to water well. I've taken it into the shower with me with no problems. (I can't vouch for how well it would stand up to actual diving, though.)
    I think that for a movement that hacks and hand-winds, along with the solid links (except for the end links) you can't really go wrong as long as you're paying $75 or less. And Amazon has them on sale on Black Fridays usually for around $50.
    The only negative I can say is that I _have_ heard of people complaining about quality control. Either water got into the watch (in situations where it shouldn't have) or the applied logo came off, etc. o I think what you sacrifice with a price like that (aside from the difference in the materials) is impeccable quality control. You're kind of rolling the dice when you buy a Pro Diver, so hold on to your receipt for a while, or keep the warranty card handy.

    When I begin collecting watches. Invicta were the ones I started collecting, I build my collection to About 12 Invicta watches. The one that you have there was one of my favorite. Bang per buck watch. After building my collection I took noticed that a lot of people were wearing invitca. One day I was at a restaurant a few years ago I noticed,that the busboy that was cleaning the table next to us was wearing one. So I go to the bar to get a drink ,then the cook comes out to get a soda he also has an invicta. The watch looked like a hubcap on his wrist. It was a sight to see. Over the years I got rid of all but one. The one that you have there,still is my favorite. I have reduce my collection down to 8 watches 2 oris 2 alpina 1 tissot and I orient ray diver sekio 5 diver and the invicta diver you have there. It seem like every weekend invicta comes out with new watches. Over the years invicta has had problems in there quality control department.

    Bought same model with little different bezel but I love it.. it’s for 2 days late 5 seconds.. ticking is not really loud... Date is changing exactly at midnight as all Swiss do and having original Seiko which date is switching between 0:00 and 3:00 this watch much better ... Rotating - I do never do that so I don’t care about it honestly...
    TJMax for $79 is pretty good purchase.. I was really critical about this brand but it’s good so far .. so I like it ...

    I bought one of these Invictas recently, also paying about $55, and so far I'm very happy with it. The watch and band look great and I've gotten several compliments. I set the time when I first received it, about four weeks ago, and since then it has gained about ten seconds. That's good enough for me. And contrary to the video, it's not that I "couldn't afford" a Rolex or some other expensive watch, because I CAN afford it. But I'd rather have this Invicta (along with my Seiko Pulsar, which cost me about $80 and has been keeping even better time for the past 15 years) than WASTE my money on some totally overpriced piece of jewelry.

    My conclusion? For the price, it's not bad at all. Solid end links, Seiko NH35 movement, above standard bracelet compared to USD100 entry level Seikos...

      The quartz ones are the ones people complain about. Those are crap. Invicta doesn't make their own movements, so everything they use is a Seiko, Miyota, ETA, or other nice movement. Who knows? The case to this particular watch could have been made at the same factory that makes Seiko cases. Get rid of all the tacky branding they put all over their watches and the automatic Invictas are a bargain.

    Doubling up on other commenters here, but I don't think the issue most people have with INVICTA is this particular watch. The vast majority of their product line is devoted to over sized, or fake jewel encrusted bezel monstrosities that very few people view as serious time pieces.

      I have never bothered to look at Invicta prior to getting this watch, so my only frame of reference was the blanket statements I've seen from people saying "Invicta Sucks". It makes more sense if people mean specific watches other than this one, because honestly this 8926ob is pretty decent.

      Actually there are very few invicta watches that feature diamonds or gemstones. Your statement is completely false. The size of a watch and its design is irrelevant when we are discussing quality. If a person is impressed with the pro diver they will be equally impressed with ANY of their reserve level pieces. The quality is hands down the best value on earth. Nobody can touch them for their bang for buck. Anyone who says otherwise is using taste to rationalize their stance, not quality.

    Love my Invicta Pro Diver watches. Have had 4 of them. Accuracy is better than my Oris, my Tissot and Seiko Skx. Wear this exact one on nato straps. Get compliments every time I wear it.

    The indices are actually an homage to the older submariners so called nipple dials. My two tone 16803 sub originally came with one but was changed somewhere along the line.

      Yeah I wasn't aware of that style dial back when I made this video but I've since seen the resemblance.

    I took a scotch brite pad to mine and knocked off all the chrome on the case and band. It has a brushed look now and I really like it. Once the chrome is dulled the "Invicta" logo on the side of the case blends in and is far less noticeable.

    At the end of the day you buy what you want and what YOU like, not what someone else tells you to buy. I've had an Invicta Pro Diver 40mm in gold for several years and it's never let me down, it's on a grey nato strap with gold hardware and looks fantastic. It sits alongside my 17 yr old Omega, Seiko "Arnie", Orient Kano, Seiko Kinetic, Ingersoll Tank, my G Shock tough solar which in reality is the only watch you will probably ever need, my 26 year old Citizen and my dad's old Avia from 1961. I wear them all, they are all different, cost vastly different sums but were all chosen by me, except the Avia. I used to care what others thought but that was when I was young and dumb and I don't like watch snobs who think the only watch to own is a Rolex. Anyway rant over, thank you for reading. Ps, I've just ordered a Invicta Grand Diver, I have a 7 inch wrist, it's probably going to be way to big for it but I don't care.

    I've had 2 of these watches and they are both super accurate. One was dead on time and the other ran like 2 seconds fast a day.

      Thanks for watching and the comments. I'd like to check out some victorinox models in the future, I'll have to do some research and see what my favorite is and consider it.

    Tight bezels are an Invicta thing. Wear your watch in the shower once or twice and then turn the bezel with a towel or face washer and it fixes the issue. Good review, great watch.

    Why is it that when Invicta makes a sub Mariner homage it's a "rip off or knock off" but when steinhardtmarc & son phiobos and all these other "quote end quote MICRO BRANDS" make a Rolex homage ...it's an homage???!!!!

      @@tremblaycallum783 not that bad if you happy to swap the dial and hands, you'll have a nice watch around $100. the case machining isn't bad either though the logo on the side might irritate some people.

    My wife bought me my first invicta and I was blown away. We have an invicta store at Lenox mall here in Atlanta. I order the 8 slot case to start a small collection. I just ordered this watch today, because my dog rodger moore/007 in live and let die had the Rolex version with the gadgets. I prolly can fork over the $9500 for a submariner but its not that serious. I just love invicta styles
