I agree with this comment . Most people nowadays mainly Americans such as myself go by brand and buy things like a rolex over a invicta watch which both tell time , or to impress people who dont really care about you because those who care about you dont care about how much your watch cost☮️❤️

@@healthycitizen1926 It depends: some people don't buy a watch just to tell the time (if everyone did that, mechanical watches would not exist, as they're more expensive and less accurate than quartz), they buy it because of the history behind a certain watch (for example, people willing to buy the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch cal.321 don't just buy it for the status, but because of the watch's historical significance as a reissue of the first watch on the moon) or because of the timepiece's durability compared to others (which is why Casio G-Shock is such a popular brand when it comes to rugged and resistant watches, as they built their entire brand identity around this niche). Buying a watch to impress your peers is wrong (unless you yourself also really like the watch) as it's guaranteed you'll eventually grow dissatisfied of it. You should buy a watch for yourself and yourself only (unless it's a gift for someone else).

I'll soon be 73 years old and I've been wearing an Invicta Pro Diver for about 2 1/2 years. I wear it because I like it. The name means nothing to me. I've always purchased low cost watches due to my type of work. The Pro Diver is by far the best watch I've ever owned. I set it about every 3 days and it's usually about 1 minute off. It's a tough watch and really takes the abuse. Even though the Invicta has a Rolex look, I've never had anyone ask me if it's a Rolex. That is because today, 99%+ don't give a flip. What really turns people on today is a costly cell phone.

A watch is a watch and any of these will tell the time accurately. And you dont need a fancy bling to live the present time no matter what the metal chunk on your wrist says. @David Topchiev Yup, i don't know what all the fuss about Rolex is to be honest, the watch market is flooded with cheaper and arguably better alternatives, as a buyer that is...watch flippers love them for obvious reasons. You can't deny Rolex are on another level when it comes to marketing. They probably could sell sand to Arabs and Ice to Eskimos

    • @johnturnerjr7221
      @johnturnerjr7221 4 роки тому +3

@David Topchiev, if the product you mention is so over rated, then why are there so many different companies essentially making the same watch with in some cases nearly identical styling.
As for the price, this is what the market will bear. They are still flying off the assembly line and are rarely in stock so that means someone is buying them and they are still in demand. Terms like better are subjective and so far none of the other "homages" use a different or "superior" steel and the movements in these "homages" usually use a Seiko movement not one they either own or made themselves.
Please understand, I'm not a Fanboy of either company, just pointing out the differences between the two products being compared.

Honestly, I prefer the look of the Invicta over the Rolex. I know it's older but the Rolex just looks dated. The Invicta is more modern looking to me. The Rolex logo and an extra couple gaskets aren't worth anywhere near an almost $8k difference in my opinion. Invicta all day. You can buy 80+ Invictas for the same money and never once get caught wearing the same piece in public twice. An overwhelming majority wouldn't even be able to distinguish between the two if the logos were removed, which probably doesn't sit well with people who dump the equivalent of a used car's worth on a wrist timepiece. This isn't the 19th or 20th century anymore, watches should not cost more than $500 unless it's a legitimate antique or collector's item.

    • @LeechUFC
      @LeechUFC 3 роки тому +1

To be completely fair a junk used car the price of a rolex would eventually be worth so little you’d be paying more to keep it running or to get rid of it than it costs while a roley will more often than not appreciate in value

Great review. As far as a watch not “feeling” the same, I own dozens of watches expensive and inexpensive, after I wear any of them for a few minutes I barely feel anything. The bottom line for me is do I like the look of the watch, does it look good on my wrist, and most importantly is it precise and accurate, AND a good value? In my experience, Rolexes become highly inaccurate, every one of them I’ve experienced. They need to be serviced often at great cost and for a $6000-$36,000 price point they should at least not lose 2 minutes per day! You are paying for the Swiss Rolex name but seriously, even my 50 year old cheap-ass Timex indiglo still keeps perfect time! A better Swiss value is my Swiss Oris Big Crown Pointer date 80th anniversary bronze case leather strap watch, $1500! Oris was making fine watches before Rolex and this watch has always kept perfect time, unique, and in my humble opinion at least 777 times better than the submariner, oh yeah, and “FEELS” much much better! Ha ha! Again, great review, I like the solid gold submariner much better but again $36,000, worth it?, between the two you reviewed, very, very minor things with the Invicta, get it instead of the Rolex. I agree with you about the over branding in watches as well, but the swirling wings on the second is t that big of a deal since I wouldn’t be staring at that so much while wearing the time piece. I also own the Seiko Presage in brown, love it too but yeah, did they need to write presage on it, not that big of a deal, bigger to me is that it loses about 4 seconds a day! I need to remove the back and re-adjust the regulation. Thanks again for the review, Sir. I think for Invicta, the Invicta Men's I-Force 44mm Stainless Steel and 18k Gold Ion-Plated and Brown/Black Leather Watch (Model: 12823, 15255, 21393) is much better feeling and much better to look at and it is only $52 on Line.

I wore that watch 24/7 until about a year ago when I sent it in to be refurbished. The tritium was flaking off the dial, I had chipped a small piece off the edge of the crystal, the arms were experiencing some sort of degradation and I really wanted to be able to tell time in the dark without having to find my phone. The cost of the upgrades were half the price of the watch, but it is now like new except that the luminescence is only on the arms and bezel pearl, and not the hour markers. Some would say that I ruined the patina of the original, but I use this watch as a tool and not as an investment. I wore this watch while surfing, rock climbing, mountain biking, diving, skiing and everything else. Great watch and not one for the penny-pinchers, but it is worth triple what it cost brand new. The watch this replaced was a Seiko and I loved that one as well. I agree with the opinions stated in this review. I also think that for the price, the Invicta is a total bargain since most people don't care anyway. Wear what makes you happy, even if it's just counting the money you saved. I saved over $100k by not buying the Porsche GT-3 I covet. LOL.

One thing that caught my eye was there is more printed info on the Rolex dial compared to Invicta dial. A detail I did like is how the hour and date window are outlined and pop more. I can't help wonder what the current Rolex compares to the Invicta. But I do appreciate your caparison between the two. Clearly the price tag is the most outstanding difference between them. For $8200. I could buy a good used car or truck and a box of Cuban cigars. Hands down Rolex is the standard for some watch people but addressing the collectors, Invicta makes it affordable to build a collection that has a huge variation of models. Now weather that's a good thing or not it is up to the collector to decide. Thanks for sharing the comparison. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

A very honest opinion about both watches.
The Invicta is an homage of the Rolex sub so there's no basis for comparison.

The Invictas are good for scuba diving (in case it gets lost) and when I am nervous about theft (traveling, etc.). That said, my Rolex exudes quality & longevity; my son will inherit it and I hope cherish it. The Invictas, although essentially Rolex copies fulfill a different purpose.

I would like a SeaGull ST1901 movement watch, probably the Red Star 1963 40mm gooseneck 21 jewel at around £140 but the Invicta Pro Diver looks like a very good contender for under £100. Thank you for this in-depth review! I got some Invicta, actually I own this very model. I've never worn it. It is sitting inside its original package... After your disamina, I will take my Invicta pro-dive out for a walk. At the moment I'm really inlove with my Glycine combat sub (pre invicta, just to say). I've bought it second hand, but it opened my heart from the first moment I wore it. I own many watches, including Swiss, Russian but mostly Japanese ones, few Chinese ones. I hope one day to save enough to allow myself to buy a Breitling Chromomat or maybe a Tudor Black Bay, these are my goals. The Rolex are far more expensive for my wallet. Hope everyone is good! Cheers to everyone!

I've worn Invicta for years and this is a very fair review.
The whole point of the Pro Divers is that it looks and almost feels like a Rolex, but it isn't. As such it's an attractive and affordable watch for people who don't have dinner guests to impress at their Napa Valley wine club, or don't need that extra 100m of diving depth lol
"I'm not arguing the Invicta is a bad watch, I'm arguing it doesn't feel the same as the Rolex."
For a 7-8 thousand price difference it shouldn't, and I don't expect it to.

I don't know if it's true, but I've read that the reason they put it on there had to do with Rolex's lawyers. I think it looks nice.
I bought a Pro Diver in January, and I love it, including the flying wing counterbalance. I've wanted a Subbie since I was a kid, and last December, on my birthday, I realized I was never going to live long enough to afford one.
I would prefer a Rolex to the Invicta, except for the fact that a Pro Diver costs about 1/150th that of a new Submariner, which was a factor in my decision. And of course there's a waiting list for Subbies. That too.
BTW, Seiko movement keeping pretty good time for the money. Last set it 28 days ago today and it is 2:14 slow right now. 90 bucks is hard to beat.
I'm not really a "collector" more of a penniless spectator, but if I ever do start collecting, it will be epic CHEAP watches. That Starking is an excellent example. Also, I have a 38mm Timex Navi-Harbor--man, I LOVE that thing!

I am 53 years old, I graduated in 1987- my junior year my dad was going to buy a rolex from a dealer he knew he asked me if I would like to get a submariner. He said yes it's costly but it's a good watch- stainless steel it would cost me $750 now mind you now now a stainless steel sub mariner is running $17,000 that is absolutely ridiculous it is the same watch it was 30 years ago! Because it's limited in production and it's popular people are paying astronomical amounts for them above retail... far above retail! I personally have a Breitling Super Avenger with a factory diamond dial... it's my dress watch 48mm. I don't like rolex because I am a bigger guy and at 40mm it's small in my opinion and overnflated in cost. I.E. a Rolex Daytona can cost you 40k plus. Rolex is just a name- it is a good watch and as people have mentioned it does go up in value because people are dumb enough to pay the escalated prices which drives the market. I personally have about a dozen invicta watches between my wife and myself. The nice thing- the invicta watches that I wear I'm not afraid of scratching them, I wear them anywhere because I didn't have to pay $10K like I did for my Breitling! If you can afford one go for it... BUT KNOW THIS- there are so many swiss made fake rolex watches half the people will think it's fake anyway! FACT!

I have owned this model and have given it as a gift to friends and family. I've owned 9 variations of the "Seiko" movement Pro Divers and never had issues with any of them. The name etched on the side doesn't bother me. Even an "I" in the Invicta font would have sufficed or even using one of their two logo's. Less is more? What about the lengthy 4-line novel above the 6 on the Submariner? How many watches

Fair review, I thought. Thanks for making all of these entertaining videos. My two-cents is there is a place for Invicta and there is a place for Rolex. I appreciate that Invicta makes this watch, even though I know it's blatantly unfair as an imitation design and many of Invicta's diverse original designs have a tendency to be... a bit 'out there.' I own the Invicta and will probably never own that Rolex Submariner.
3 general things I have come to notice and/or appreciate about Invicta:
    1) They make watches on a large-scale with very high economies of scale to bring down costs. The market for people who won't pay more than $100 for a watch is huge. They are managing to produce good watches with such limitations. The watches they are producing for these masses are pretty good for them. They're water-proof and they can be banged around a little bit and if something happens, they're ultimately at a price point they're replaceable.
    2) Cheap watches help us find our style before shelling out a ton of money. I know some argue this as a waste, but I appreciated those early years when my budget was tight that I could start my collection and try many things. It was through this I learned what I liked and what I didn't before I spent more money. These watches, and many others, are like a gateway drug. I developed my personal taste in watches over many years. Present-me does not see things the same way as Past-me. This Invicta allows me to not experience the prestige, attention to detail, or as solid construction of the Rolex. However, it does allow me to come close to experiencing the general style and that is something I appreciate and I'm glad to have in my varied collection.
    3) Less of an appreciation and more of a criticism. You still get what you pay for. What gets cheaper with mass production, comes at a loss of quality and quality control. The luxury brands are created with heavy marketing, but that also means they protect that marketing by trying to create perfection. You can't sell something $5,000+ and have it break easily or not ensure that all watches you produce carry the same quality and be able to maintain the value of that brand. I have owned 3 Invicta watches. This version of the diver watch I own had the rotating bezel break within 2 weeks of owning it without heavy usage, improper usage, or being knocked around at all. I suspect the ratcheting part inside was creating too friction and bent itself out of place. Another watch was not an imitation, but a self-designed army style. It was actually a decent built watch in terms of how solid the construction was, but it has some major errors in the attention to detail of the design that I didn't notice until I bought it and wore it. Problems: 1) the hour and minute hands were black with a large lume design in the center. The dial was black. The design of the Lume on both hands was about the same size. I couldn't tell time at a glance. I had to look more carefully for the end of the black hands. 2) It had a rotating sub-dial that pointed to the day of the week. They used a push-button to rotate it. The watch was not a chronograph, but wanted it to have the appearance of one. They problem is it was way too easy to bump that button. The movement broke and is no longer functional, but the earliest problem was this subdial broke and soon after the hour hand wouldn't move either. I believe the button for the subdial was activated during times that could damage the movement if it was adjusted. The movements are often budget range movements from reputable companies
As a buyer... lessons learned, however I expect these types of issues to not come up if someone is designing and developing them with a critical eye. Still, I've enjoyed my Invicta Diver with the now non-rotating bezel.
When I buy my first multi-thousand dollar diver, I will probably get a Omega Seasmaster. I still appreciated the Invicta's and other cheap brands of the world that allowed me to try different styles over time and allowed me to learn my personal interests in style to help in making those decisions.
For now my main diver is still a far more budget friendly Bulova Oceanographer. I like the throwback to the past, I appreciate designs that come from a heritage of American crasftmanship, and I appreciate that it is a watch fewer people wear and allows me to be more unique.
I fully agree with you about the depth of the casing to the dial. I noticed this wearing the Invicta diver. That was my biggest criticism of the Invicta diver personally. They do make the finish of it look better or more interesting, if it is left that large. Beyond the size of that metal wall, It looks cheaply brushed.
Thanks for all of the interesting videos!

I have found that a fine, quality watch typically feels different that cheaper watches. That said, there are some good watches that are a great bargain and I have found that Invicta is one of those. I've owned a standard Invicta Pro Diver, 40mm, quartz watch for seven years. I've never had an issue. It's very comfortable and looks a lot like the Rolex. I have had a number of more expensive, mid range watches like Tissot, Tag, Luminox (not Rolex) and found that one difference is the quality and feel of the band or bracelet (usually a metal bracelet). It's important to have a comfortable, accurate, good looking watch. With Invicta, if you have a problem (loss or damage), it's just under a $100. Even if I could afford it, I would not want to have a $6,000 - $10,000 watch on my wrist. The important thing is to get what you like and enjoy it!

My take on watches is I like to wear the watches I get but I don’t want to have to worry about it getting stolen or scratched or damaged. At even 1000.00 watch i would worry about all those. So to get something that has a respectable albeit basic automatic movement and looks nice that I won’t be afraid to wear and keeps decent time better than a sundial. I could careless the brand as long as it isn’t gaudy or looking like I am trying to FLEX those “HEY LOOK AT ME” vibes. So i took a ‘chance’ and purchased an INVICTA paid around 50.00 for an automatic movement watch. It’s not big or flashy and looks nice on my wrist. Keeps good time, the dial/Bezel fees nice and not too tight not too loose. The lume which most have described as low to medium low was actually very bright and i only held a LED flashlight on it for about a min. It fades fairly quickly. The strap kinda sucks but I replace all mine with NATO bands anyway. I was dreading getting the watch and considered not even opening it and just returning it based on all the hate some of the UA-camrs were giving invicta watches. But I found 95% of what they said not to reflect on my experience. But I am not a high end watch guy, just like i don’t own a Ferrari and don’t own 1000.00 suits or expensive anything. I am a common man who likes decent watches that look good at a decent price. And I think that is more the norm than the ones who buy Rolexes and high end watches. If you are a guy like me the invicta pro diver is a decent watch - hate their bands though - get a nato if you get an invicta

I watched this with great interest as I have both watches. This video turned me into a subscriber, so, well done!. Yes, the submariner does have a more refined feel to it all around (of course, it does!!!). But none of the annoying issues you found with the Invicta come close to justifying that enormous price difference. Funny thing, I have owned both watches for a number of years and I find that the Invicta, with its less sophisticated movement, to be the more accurate time keeper. One last thing, Those two details which you find annoying, the wings on the tail end of the second hand and the engraved "INVICTA" on the side, I'll bet that both were done to avoid trademark legalities.

Great video, liked everything in it. I'm not an Invicta fan, but I do appreciate their homage watches.
I bought a $75 Invicta pro diver which I can use anywhere, went to beach with it, went to the water with it, didn't mind the sand or small rocks getting all over the watch, because it was cheap.
On the other hand, I haven't seen a person with a Rolex or Omega doing the same, they usually use these high quality watches for dinner, meetings, etc. It has become a valuable "show off" watch, and there is nothing wrong with that.
It would be nice to see a rolex submariner being used for what it was built for: a diver watch, but no one will do that due to its high cost.
So yeah, that's why I appreciate the Invicta pro diver (not the other monstrosities) it has the looks and is built to resist beach/ocean activities without the worry of losing an expensive item.

I own both the Invicta Grand Diver and a 2005 two tone Rolex Submariner. I like both watches! But, the Submariner has the edge as said in the video. I paid $4,300 for my Submariner. It is now valued at $13,000. I bought 10 Rolex in three years. Everyone I sold at more than twice the price I paid for it!! Great investment!!!

Yeah, a Rolex is an investment in my eyes and not to be worn. You'll get robbed fast if you wear one.
An Invicta, looks good, is built well, sturdy and cheap. If someone wants to rob me for my $100 watch, go right ahead friend.
I wear my Invicta everyday without concern.

For the money it's great. Got mine for about $65 on Amazon. Good, sturdy waterproof. What more can you ask for.

Well, I can ask for a genuine Swiss chronometer on my wrist. I don't care about the certificate, but I like knowing the watch will still be dead-nuts accurate 30 years from now!

So how far up in price range do you have to go to find something approaching the the fit and finish of the Rolex?
