Remember folks, the guy who says, "I'm not an expert pompano fisherman" is likely more of an expert than a lot of the guys who claim to be. Proof is in the pudding! ✌️JC, Thank you for all the knowledge, brother!
I have developed a love hate relationship with Pompano fishing. Catching them on jigs is fun for sure. I've never caught one in the surf, but it seems like there's not much of a fight with those really long surf rods. Thanks for watching.
JC, This for someone like me, this is the easiest Pompano rig that I have ever tried to tie. Now to get out the drill gun , to try my hand at teasers. Thanks again Capt, getting ready for February Pompano season. Good fishing, stay safe out there Brother
I've caught loads of Pompano using this method. I've never tried to tie a dropper loop, looks a bit complicated compared to this method. Thanks for commenting.
@@RadReelingFishing , Morning JC, dosen't get any better, unless we we're on the water I am a Visually learner, you're think after fishing most of my life, this would be easy for me, NOT !!. Watching your JC Pompano fishing rig over and over, I tied it. Took it apart, tied it again. I use a 7'9" Loomis with a Fin No spinning reel # 20. You're JC Pompano rig work just fine. That what my Brother in Miami call this Pompano rig's, he's fishing Flamingo this morning, I am stuck in Zephyrhills. Hey thanks Brother, let you be. Hit the Blue Dog, if you get in that neighborhood, great kayak fishing there. Good fishing, stay safe out there Captain.
I've been a subscriber for a while and love the content, this video especially because of the time taken to show the set up and the multiple terms for the knot. Thanks
Out of the 100s of the Pompano rigs ( for me ) yours is the easiest to make and tiy to my Fluorocarbon. No I am not beach fishing, with 2 or more rods. Just a simple guy, that likes tossing a lure or rig. Thanks again Capt for the help, good fishing and stay safe out there Brother. See Ya !!!
Again, another great educational video. That blue background works really well with the line and jigs you were using (easy on the eyes). Keep up the great work!
I add another teaser to the jig, and use a loop knot, been catching pomp’s with it for the last 15 years . Was shown this set up by “Silly Willy” he used shrimp spray on his. Even caught small snook, cobra and tarpon with it. Vertical jigging
Thanks for the tips. I almost always fish natural baits and usually do alright on the pompano. But I confess to having had success with a banana jig with fish bites. Thanks again!
Thank you for this tutorial. great video!! I used your pointer from another of your bridge fishing videos this weekend, I had one jig on the line let it hit the bottom and bounce it a few times, and landed a Gag Grouper on Saturday... had to let it go since its not June 1st..
Thank you for this video. Very easy instructions & simple to make. Have you or know of anyone who ever tried this pompano jig in the surf/piers of NC, SC and VA with success? I use 6.5-7 ft spinning rods for lures.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I don't know about those regions you've mentioned. I've caught a multitude of different species on this rig. I'm sure something would bite it in the areas you mentioned.
I tie an extra long loop knot, about 2-3 inches, the teaser slides up and down the loop as you jig it and it makes a little extra action. I use the Perfection Loop, since it’s fast and easy to tie. You catch a lot of different stuff with this jig..pompano, whiting, speckled trout, snook, flounder, Spanish mackerel, blue runners, ladyfish, grunts, catfish, bluefish, Jack crevalle whatever is around will hit it.
What are the 5 best color patterns you have the most luck with, JC? Do the single solid colors work better or the combination colors? If the latter, which combo colors you prefered? I want to know because I'm going to buy me some right now! Thanks ahead for your help!
Thanks JC for the response! I live in Maryland and I'm heading for Virginia Beach on July 5 to do some fishing. Saw a kid caught a pompano that was probably 13" last year and I caught a ton of baby pompano in my crab traps last year! That place looks like it's stacked with pompano!
That's exactly how I would be setting up a fluke rig but instead I be using two teasers 12 inch apart end 5 ounce Bucktail at the bottom and like you said with the current it could be a 2-ounce 3 oz up to 5 oz at and depending on how deep the water is
I am new to pompano jigs. I have caught many pompano over the years in the surf and piers with the standard 2-hook float rigs. But after watching several of your videos on pompano jigs, I wanted to try something new because I love using lures. I bought this week set of 6 banana jigs & multiple teasers. I will be tying the multiple combos you suggested & use them on piers & jetties in VA/NC. I want to try them on multiple trips & let you know later if I had any success--pompano, mackerel, blue, red drum, whiting, etc. I am really excited about using this jig. Can you do a video fishing off a pier with these jigs? Thanks again. See ya!!
JC great video. Where do you get your teasers at, what brand. I want to try it to see if I can catch Trout, maybe Spanish and Reds or whatever else from the bridges we have here in Pensacola. Thanks for all your great videos and explanations of what you use and how.
Thanks for watching and asking. I purchase whatever the tackle stores are supplying. I've been getting them at Dicks, Walmart and from a couple of local shops. TA Jigs online is a great source for the jigs.
Thanks for your video, it's very interesting. Can you tell me - what is color for line you use, and what kind of the line is best - stealth-braid or monofilament ?

I'm addicted to fishing with the jigs and teasers for Pompano.
This rig is awesome
I totally agree with you. It's one of my favorite rigs to fish for sure.
Great job! The channel is taking off :-)
Great rig and video!! Try a silver or gold spoon with a piece of bacon on the hooks just long enough to flicker behind the spoon.

I recommend a loop knot on any jig. It gives the jig much more action, and results.
Thanks for sharing. I'll have to remember that with these Pompano rigs. Thanks for sharing.

Pink, yellow and chartreuse In solid or combined with white. I guess that's only 4.

Check out "Thonny". He fishes SW Florida and made a video of catching Pompano a couple of months ago from a pier. Thanks.

Great vid! Question, in your experience which has had more hookups when using this set up, the goofy jig or the teaser?
With Pompano it seems to be about equal. With fish in general, the teaser gets the majority of catches.
Thanks for the reply.
On 6lb mono I find the triple surgeon knot like you teaser knot breaks at 4ish lbs. Would really like it to work.
That's really light line for sure. Why are you fishing so light?
Hi jc how do you change out colors or weights with this rig thanks 🐟
Thanks for your video, it's very interesting. Can you tell me - what is color for line you use, and what kind of the line is best - stealth-braid or monofilament ?
10-15lb braid with 20 to 25 lb test mono or flouro leader.
@@RadReelingFishing Thanks, what color you suggest to use ? yellow ?

@@RadReelingFishing OK.Thanks!
J C really like the videos I learn a lot from them. I would like to know what size hook is on the teaser you use and where do you by them.
The teasers are usually in the jig pack for Dicks or Walmart. I buy them from local tackle shops separate sometimes too.
Oh, forgot, not sure about the hook size, probably a one ought.
I see goofy jigs at Walmart but no teasers
Great how- to JC 👍🏼
Great tutorial! What size hooks are these? Looks like maybe a 1/0?
On the jig, maybe a 1/0, the teaser is maybe a #4
@@RadReelingFishing thank you
JC, are you tying the braid to your leader with a double uni knot or using a swivel?
Thanks!
uni to uni is fine with 15 lb braid and 25 lb mono or fluoro
Hi jc is that mono or leader material thanks 🐟
$1.87 spool of Zebco mono from Walmart. Thanks for watching.
What does it mean when they eat out the whole sand flea except the shell? I was using only a 1/0 hook. Could not catch one fish.
I don't fish with sand fleas often, but I'd guess small fish are attacking it.
The music at the end is great. Who is that?
I don't recall the artist. It's a royalty free song in the UA-cam library. It takes hours of searching to find a gem of a royalty free song like this one.
The thing like about this is that, the jegg is doing over time also as a weight
what pound test line do you use? flouro or mono? thanks
I think I was using 25 lb. in this video. Mono.
I may have missed it. But how long is the rig in total
I generally make a 6' long leader and tie the teaser anywhere from 4 to 10 inches above the jig.
Yea I always use a clinch knot but will try the improved clinch not now.
Checkout some of my vids too on how I set up my surf pomp/high low and flounder rigs.
great vid
Thanks for watching and commenting. I will check them out. I've never seriously targeted them in the surf before.
Where you buy jig teasers?
Usually at a tackle shop, but I've actually started making my own. ua-cam.com/video/RSphnyKIyw4/v-deo.html
Thanks
What's that a Dolphin in the water at 1:22 mark ????
What brand are the teasers?
I just purchase them where ever I'm at when I need them Most of mine come for either Walmart or a local tackle shop.
do we need to use any kind of bait for this rig?
I never do. Some people say the like to tip the jigs with shrimp tails, I never do.
