Thank you, Staci! I’m just now finishing up my first pair of Sawdl Welsh Heel socks and will definitely use these techniques. I love the sock pattern, by the way! Your videos are so helpful and informative - I always look forward to all your incredible knit tips!
Thank you, Staci! I've been asking this question of sock knitters for years... and no one has really given me a good answer. I've always been concerned about my woven-in ends maybe feeling too "lumpy" on sensitive feet. Your way looks decidedly un-lumpy and I will definitely try it as I endeavor to become a sock knitter this year.
I never knee the umbrella and smile way but I do most of my end weaving down knit stitches like you did on the brim. I'm newer at knitting but crocheted for like 10 years
Thank you so much, Staci! You have thought me to do my favorite form of making! Having had stage 3 cancer and being so sick for 9 years knitting has gotten me through a lot. God bless and thank you. 🙏🏻💚 (btw: I would love to see more of your furbabies, Basenji's are amazing dogs and not well known. Do they have their own IG profile?)
Thank you for this great video. At 3:51 where you go under both Vs of the stitch, I understand that part, but at 3:53, 3:54 where you insert your needle back down to where your stitch came from, I can’t see where you are putting your needle as your hand is blocking the work. So I can’t finish off my sewing in of the end at the rib of my socks. This is the clearest and best video I can find that shows me how to do this. Is there any way that I can find out how to do this last bit please? Much appreciated.
I am a Grandma who crochets but,,,,I have tried to learn to knit,I have not really stuck with it or kept trying,,,I would try then quit, then try again , then quit, well the thing is I never completely quit, so I am determined to knit before I go to meet the Lord I will keep trying,,,my problem is not casting on it's the other part, I can cast on fairly quickly and then I hit a brick wall,,,,,,but I will learn to knit before I die, I hope
I suspect you are psychically linked to me, because I literally sighed at a sock whose ends needed to be woven in today. Now I'm excited to explore smiles and umbrellas!
Great video, as always! I was wondering if you have any advice for knitting i-cord edges, I'm masking a shawl that has an I-cord edge, and I'm having trouble keeping tension. Keep up the wonderful work. All the best!
Thank you! What if the sock has self-striping yarn and the color changes so the tail to weave in is a different color from the adjacent area to be woven into? How to weave in without the different color showing?
Just make sure you weave it into a darker color in the fabric. The end won't show on the front unless you are weaving, for example, dark navy yarn into white knitted fabric.
I saw your "old" video about weaving the ends. Since than I don't hate to do this))))) Thank you so much. You're a great teacher. Do you have any video about weaving the ends in Tunisian crochet?
When showing how to weave in at cuff, your hand is blocking the second move, when you say “back down into where that stitch came out of”. Please clarify. Thank you.
Very nice instruction. Clear and concise. Thank you. Your light blue sock is lovely! What is your preferred method for making socks? Magic loop, DPNs, 9 inch circular, toe up etc? Or does it depend on the pattern?
I like trying different things, and my "favorite" is whatever I'm currently knitting. :) My current favorite is toe-up, and I like using 9" circulars...but I switch to DPNs when I knit toes/heels/cuffs.
@@theastewart6721 Those were the ones Staci liked most in her video on 9 inch circulars. She tried them all and said she liked them best! I grabbed a set and they're great. Strange at first, and tricky to get used to but so nice
Thank you for this!! My knitting looks so much better now that I know how to weave in the ends!
You are so smart, and the finished work looks wonderful.
such a godsend! this was exactly what i needed^^ ill go find some smiles and umbrellas now^^ perfect for this rainy day haha
Oh my gosh!! I have been knitting socks for many, many years and I never knew about this way of weaving in!! Thank you so much!!
Finally! I now "get it" with how to weave in sock ends. You make techniques so easy to understand. Thanks!
Thank you for my weekly moment of Knitting Zen!
What a great video. I knitted dozens of socks for Christmas and wove the ends in wrong. Thanks for setting me straight.

I've been weaving my ribbing tails the same as you, but I'm very happy to learn how to do the toe tail. Thanks!
SO USEFUL! thank you!
You have a video for everything 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I'm trying! I've been putting out a new video every week for over a decade!
Thank you for these so simple/funny explainations "umbrella & smile" 😊
I agree. A thing easy to remember, "umbrellas & smiles", kind of like life. ☔😊
Bien voyons donc that's how you make it look clean. Finally I can do it properly. Thank you thank you.
Well this video is going in my Saved List

Thanks for all this!!! I learned so much!
This one short video answered all the questions I had about weaving in my sock ends! Thank you!
Thank you so much I will be proud to finish my sock te right way!!!
very timely, I'm doing stripey socks with a lot of ends atm. Thank you.
I do the umbrellas and smiles but could never get a clean join on the cuff. Thank you so much for this tutorial.

It did help! Thanks so much!❤

THANK YOU and yes I’m shouting. These slo-mo videos are exactly what I have needed.
Could you demonstrate Brioche in slo-mo one day?

Wonderful. Thank you.

Great video, thank you so much.
Please can you tell me how to manage this technic with ribbing 2/2 ? Thank you very much. N.B. I enjoy so much yours videos, it is so clear,
The technique is the same, regardless of the rib you're knitting.
Oh this is going to help a lot with a hat I made I was wonder what I was going to do with all the ends (there is more than an absurd amount)

This is really helpful 🐘
I always weave my ends in this way on socks. What do you do with your heel yarn end? I pull mine through to the inside and weave in same way.
Wow ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
thank you!

Do you still recommend the ChiaGoo 9 inch circulars?
Yes, they're very nice. I'm using them on a project right now.
Great! Thank you! Will order them right now!
