    THANK YOU for the jumbo yarn, contrasting thread and perfect camera angle AND, while we’re at it, perfectly explained instructions. This is so incredibly helpful!!! I can’t wait to finish a few projects perfectly correctly now! Yay!

    NOW it makes sense to me. I looked at other videos and got the concept but couldn't understand the stitch selection for process. By you calling them umbrellas and smiles, it made total sense. Thanks.

    This lady is "da bomb" when showing how to do just about anything in knitting. When I first started knitting I didn't like her tutorials because I had no clue what she was talking about, now I go to her first (and last) to figure something out. A very talented and gifted woman! Thanks for taking the time to show a male knitter how to do things correctly and posting it on youtube!

    Thank you so much! A beloved knitter was no longer able to weave in the ends on some beautiful works from her knitting days. I was genuinely scared of botching the job. I watched the video over and over, followed your instructions, and now family members can enjoy wonderful keepsakes. You saved the day!

    Your tutorials are brilliant!!. I have just started knitting, about a month or so ago, and with your help I'm already knitting in the round, making socks, and now I'm going to be the tidiest weaver of ends ever. haha. Thank you for making these tutorials. Your style, format, closed captions, and dual cameras make following along a breeze. You really are the best!

    I have struggled with weaving in ends and looked at various videos. I am now making baby washcloths for my dear daughter-in-law to distribute to her clients. I really wanted them to be finished nicely. This video was very helpful. Yes, I watched it several times and even copied the "closed captioning" for my own notes. You provide such good information. Thank you!!!

    @msalieneyecandy Like I say in the video - if you've been weaving in ends and they've stayed put, you're doing it correctly! This is just the correct way to do it so that the fabric retains elasticity.

    Thank you so much! Way back some years ago when I first started knitting, I read that there's no right or wrong way to weave in the ends and I thought, "That can't be right. If there's a right and wrong way to knit through the front of the loop, knit through the back of the loop, etc., someone has to have come up with the best way to weave in the ends." But I never found anything about that. So thanks!

    Great video! Any advice on how much of the end you should weave in to ensure it doesn't unravel?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  8 років тому +5

      It depends on the yarn - a wool yarn is going to be "stickier" than a non-animal fiber, so an inch is usually enough. You'll probably need more for cotton or acrylic.

  • @verypinkknits
    @verypinkknits  12 років тому

    Yes - this is a trickier situation. You want to do your best to hide the bit you're weaving in, then you'll probably want to tie a little knot. I have a video called "Knitting Help - Weaving in Cotton Ends" which is good for any non-wool yarn. (Sorry, UA-cam won't let me give you a link here in the comments.) Take a look at that video, it should help!

    Umbrellas and smiles made a huge difference for me! Thank you!! The only thing I can't grasp is what to do with the very end. Even when I cut it short, it always sticks out and looks ugly... Any advice on that? None other tutorial I've found really goes in on this part.

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  5 років тому

      Just cut it short with the end on the back of the work. It happens sometimes that you have to tuck that end back in after washing or wearing the knit item. If you're using wool or a wool blend, the end will eventually felt down into the rest of the work.

    Just a quick question: Do I just cut of the loose end after I have woven them in directly after the last "umbrella" or do I leave the end a little longer?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  10 років тому +8

      Jan Kampmann - I usually base that decision on the yarn I'm using. If the yarn is 100% animal fiber, I know I can cut it really short, and the end will stay put and not poke through to the front. If the yarn isn't "sticky" like wool, I'll leave a little more (like a half-inch or so), so that there is less of a chance of the end poking through to the front of the work.

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  7 років тому +1

      1. yes, after weaving in the end, cut the yarn
      2. just cut, unless it's cotton yarn: ua-cam.com/video/j4iOwsf4smQ/v-deo.html
      3. depends on the yarn. Wool should be fine, cotton requires extra steps (see link above).

    Staci, I use your weaving tequnique and have a little dilemma. When I throw the sweater in the washer and dryer, it comes out with what I call little ticklies, or ends that have worked themselves out. Do you have any solution for this problem... is there some way to stop this from happening?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  4 роки тому +1

      Depending on the yarn you're using, this can happen. There is no way to prevent it...just make sure you've woven in the end for a good couple of inches, and poke the ends back to the inside of the sweater if you see one poking out.

      Thank you for your reply. I'm working with acrylic wool and it's going well. I followed the first instructions and my strips (I'm making a blanket) look really neat and tidy. Thank you.
