    As always, enjoying this simple tutorial. I'm finishing a pair of socks and this time, I wasn't going to block them but you convince me to do so! Thank you Suzanne!

    Wow Suzanne you make it so simple, thank you! Absolutely gorgeous socks. You are so extremely talented, your stitch work is one of the best I have seen. Out of the hundreds I have viewed here on UA-cam, I have seen two that stand out as impeccable stitchwork. YOU I say are the first, the other gal who is professional runs a close second ;) Thank you again! I have used mostly acrylic, but now just starting sock knitting and using wool fiber and love it, a treasure to knit and easier on my hands. Will be blocking this way! 🤗💗🤗🧦🧦🧦

    Wonderful tutorial and BEAUTIFUL socks! I'm in the middle of my first ever sock (let alone its mate) and so blocking is a long way off, but this has definitely given me the drive to wait the extra 24+ hours after I finish to block them properly. Thank you.

    Your knitting tutorials have earned you the #1 spot on my top 3 list. I love checking in with uTube and finding a new video from you.
    Seeing your technique for the purl caston and purl row separating the cuff and leg prompted me to ask if you have a solution in your bag of tricks to solve the jog at the end of each round of purls? I’ve never been able to conquer the problem, hard as I tried. Carla Jewett

    These are beautiful socks. I haven't seen the pattern, & don't know where it is. I noticed that there doesn't seem to be regular shaping around the ankle & foot, because the pattern must be maintained. So, I wondered how well this sock fits. Thank you. :)

    Should you block it every time you wash them? How do you clean used hand knitted socks? Can you chuck them in the washing machine or hand wash and block every time?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  4 роки тому +2

      Great questions. First, you do not need to wash them every time you wear them, if they are knit with wool. Wool does not absorb foot odor. In fact, most people find that their foot odor goes away when they wear wool socks. I wash mine after several wearings. Then, when I do wash them, I chuck them all in my kitchen sink with room temperature water, a very small amount of liquid dish soap, and let them soak overnight. No agitation. Then in the morning, I drain the water, rinse once, no agitation, then squeeze out the excess water, roll in a towel to absorb as much water as possible, they lay out flat to dry.

      @Sheila-cm4jy 2 роки тому

      @@SuzanneBryan Laughing here. You two used the word "chuck". It makes me think of carelessly tossing something, which, of course, is the opposite of how Suzanne launders her hand-knits ! Reading this, I can see how I've probably been felting mine by placing them (not chucking them) in a laundry wash bag as if to "protect" them, and yet laundering them in a regular cycle. Eek! No wonder they look so pitiful and misshapen. I'll be changing my laundering routine for sure!

    Do you have to “block” the socks every time they are hand washed then?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  3 роки тому

      Yes, but really it is nothing more than laying them out flat to dry. It is easy. They will look so much nicer if you do.

    It looks like the blocked sock is now smaller than the unblocked one. Is that going to cause a problem. If I'm going to block, should I make my sock larger to take care of that shrinkage?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  2 роки тому

      Hi Linda! This is an optical illusion due to the color reversal of the yarn, both socks are the same size.

      Yes, it does not respond the same as natural fibers, but yes you can block it.
