Tried this for the first time today, really pleased with the result! Never used a knot before - it seats the two tails really nicely and prevents a hole where the new yarn was joined. Thanks so much for sharing ♥️
Thank you for sharing your way to weave in ends....just knitting my first pair of scrappy socks and I have been puzzling over the best way to weave in my ends without creating bumps and the weaved ends being seen when wearing the sock....now I know what to do I am going to sit and watch your latest vlog and weave in ends😊 thank you ❤
Thank You Kay!!!! I had finished a pair of cozy wool/silk bed socks, that had a cuff done in colourwork, and alternating colours for heel and toe. I was daunted by the weaving in of ALL the ends!😨 Yay!! Just finished the first sock thanks to your wonderful video and description!!
Thank for taking the time to film and upload this tutorial! Like many other people here in the comments I typically use the duplicate stitch for weaving in my ends, and while I’ve never had any issues with it showing on the right side of my socks, it has been a problem with my mittens (especially at the top of the fingers), so I’d like to try this method for my next pair
When I weave in my ends, i follow the “umbrella” as seen in Very Pink Knits. I like the way it hides the end by essentially duplicating the inside of the stitch. Except when weaving in the ribbing, then I “wrap” my needle in the stitch sides then turn and go back up the same # of wraps I the second side stitches
Hi Kay! Thanks for the tutorial. I actually knit my ends into the socks by moving the tails up and down and knitting over them. I do like this technique and plan to give it atry.
This is so much easier than I was taught, doing a kind of figure 8. And splitting the stitches is again, a game changer from what I've tried and been frustrated with in the past. Thanks Kay! 🤗🧦☕🧶👍
I've been using a clasped weft join to start a new color but this way looks awesome for learning to be more strategic about where I start my next color within the sock itself (side of leg vs bottom of foot). Plus it's a little easier to start a new color, just jump in and handle the gaps later. Thank you so much for sharing!
I love this method and will definitely be trying it. With my wool or wool blend socks, I use duplicate stitch on the wrong side. With cotton-bamboo blends, I separate the plies, take one plus thru the purl bump, and then knit the plies firmly, and then weave diagonally on the wrong side. But for wool, your method looks so much more fun.
This is such a satisfyingly tidy result! Was this the first way taught to you in how to weave in ends inside of socks? Do you do the same weaving-in way in other garments (sweaters, say)? As a sock knitter, when weaving in ends, I have done duplicate stitch in stockinette and have woven through the edge of a knit column in ribbing. But this looks like a lovely way to proceed and I am inspired to try it.
Hmm.. I’m not sure I’ve ever had an issue with a big hole showing. When I’m ready to add a new color I just grab it and knit the stitch with the new color. On the inside of the work I do make sure the yarns are pulled snug and then tie that little knot that I showed in this tutorial. Maybe try that and see if it helps the hole that you are seeing? ❤️
I had this. I use a needle and thread the cut ends behind the stitch next to it. So if you have white and changing to a blue yarn. Thread the blue end of yarn through the loop at the back of the white stitch, and the white stitch behind the blue yarn and then gently tug them closed. It will open up againslightly as you knit, but a little tug before you weave them in and it closes again.
New subscriber here- I’ve always sewn in my ends this way with one exception. I pass down one way, up the opposite direction and finish with extra pass through the middle of the loop catching the loop made. Yes, probably unnecessary but like you I’ve never had an end come loose. I try to sew mine horizontally and it’s nearly invisible to the eye.
What a fantastic idea to split the stitches. Looks fast and easy! I am definitely going to try your method on a future pair of scrappy socks!
Awesome!! I usually do something different each time I do my ends but these are so neat and consistent!

Oh yay! I really needed to know how to do this! I made a contrasting heel and toe and just had to wing it. Now I know! Thank you.
Wonderful! Love this! Thank you.
Thanks for sharing your method of weaving ends. I do more of a duplicate stitch but will definitely be trying your way.
Thank you! Super helpful!
Thank you Kay, another good tutorial. Such a good idea to split the stitches.
Great video and the close up shots are really helpful. Sandra at Cherry Heart podcast also has an excellent tutorial. Thanks for sharing!

Like that. Can't wait to try this method on my next sock.
Ingenious. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you that looks so neat and tidy I like it so much thanks for sharing
thank you! my main craft is crochet and it’s so much simpler how to sew in ends, imo.

I’ve always just done duplicate stitch on the back for 6-8 stitches. This way looks good too!

Thanks for sharing. Great tip.
This is brilliant, thank you! :)

Yay!!! Hope this works for you!! ❤️
Thanks! I like your technique! I was taught to go under the stitches diagonally. Definitely will be yours a try.
I’ve seen that way done too! I keep meaning you try it to see how I like that method.
Brigitte Ligons-Reed that’s how I weave in my ends as well.
Thank you for a good tutorial!

This is great! Thank you for sharing this😊

That was super helpful.
I always weave in ends diagonally, it's just the way I was taught but very similar to yours

Perfect....thanks! ❤️
Very neat looking on the inside, I like that idea very much.
Very useful
Thank you so much for sharing 💞
Thank you so much. So helpful. Do you have a tutorial that shows how you add a new yarn without having a big hole showing?

I have the same problem. I’m going to try pulling it tighter.

Hi! I am going to make these for my grandson! He wears a size 12 shoe. How many stitches would you suggest for me to cast on? Thank you
Thank you!
Ok missy~ I’m gonna go see if this turns me from being a hater….. of weaving in ends obviously not of you! 😂❤️
😂🤣
Do you have a tutorial on the best way to change yarns for projects like Scrappy Socks?
Any good tutorial.
So I've done this method of weaving in and then it came loose in the washing machine 😭 Do you have any tips for weaving in such a short end?
I can feel knots. So you say you can’t feel them but I do.
Everyone is different
Do you do jogless jogs? If so, do you have a tutorial?
Nope, never done that.
@@CrazySockLady in that case, your color transitions are amazing.
Do you don’t feel the ridge on your foot?
Nope
