  • In this video, I install the Outlander soft topper from Agricover. I was looking for some sort of bed cap solution and landed on the Outlander.
    It's the least expensive, does what I need it to do, and looks great on the truck. Best of all its very easy to move and swap over to my dad's Ram!
    Here's a link to the Outlander on Agricover's site: tinyurl.com/5n7peayh

    Thanks for posting this, I've been looking at getting one of these for my 2019 classic. Even with the 6.4ft bed, there's not enough room in the bed for all my gear during hunting season. Using a cart to drag and load deer in the bed, I can't close my tonneau cover, this would allow me to do that. I was looking at this and the bestop and this appears to be a better built unit for just slightly more.

      I don't like that the bestop doesn't have side windows.

    Thanks for the review. Definitely considering this over the Softopper for rainy / snowy season camping trips when we don't want to sleep out and risk a rude (wet) awakening. Big question: does it come with "curtains" to block the windows, to keep out sun and/or peepers (you know what happens when a light is on inside and it's dark outside)? Or would we have to rig something up? Thanks!

    Thanks for the great breakdown. Been looking into one of these for when I go on trips with my sons' Scout troop. Is this on all the time or do you take it off when not needing it? I was just wondering about durability.

      My dads had it on his truck for a few months and everything is holding up great. I’ll probably run the top for most of the summer for our road trips then break it down in fall.

    Thanks for the video I have mine in the garage and ready to install. How do you store the topper when you dont have it on the truck. I was thinking about suspending it from my garage ceiling. concerned about the frame getting bent. Looking for solutions

      The topper is on my dad's truck currently but I haven't really given storage too much though. I may end up breaking it down when I don't need it so I can keep it in my basement.

    Excellent video. I just got one for my 2021 ram 2500 6.4 bed. I went through the same research trying to find something all around useful. I wanted more secure storage. somewhere for the dogs to go. Fiberglass ones are crazy price and a little to permanent for when you want to open the bed back up. The other brand soft top didn't have side windows and the reviews were not the best.that's why i went with this one. This is a great option and can't beat the price. I know the other brand has a diy cut out option to put a roll up window between the cab. like a pet window. i wonder if it will work on this one. I might try it on this setup. I haven't installed mine, yet your video was a big help on that. I like those led strips in your bed. Any info on those? are those hard wired or do you have the outlet in the bed? thanks again

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  Рік тому

      The led strips are from Amazon. I have a switch wired to them and I grab power from the 12+v wire in my trailer harness. I have a video showing how I wired another set, I later switched to the strips and would recommend the strips over the little pods due to better coverage. Here’s the link, any questions let me know!

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  Рік тому

      Are you talking about the tailgate flap? I’d double check your bed rail clamps are as far back as they can be and tightened down completely. Make sure the width is properly set too, the tailgate bar should sit firmly in the two corner brackets.

    Is it taller when stowed all the way to thr front? Pictures on website seem to indicate as such. My truck is 81" tall at shark fin an garage is 82.5 so not a lot of room to spare.

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  11 місяців тому +1

    • @cgritt
      @cgritt 11 місяців тому

      Perfect! I doubt I'll have it stowed much but would be good to know I won't accidentally do some damage to it and my garage if I forget its stowed. Do you ever partially leave the side panels unzipped? Trying to figure out an air conditioning solution for my dog without having to fully remove the panels. Was thinking I may just add a snap to a couple corners to hold it in place when i have a corner open.

      Its as secured as a vinyl roll up tonneau of a soft jeep topper. If someone has a knife they can cut it. The key is to stay away from nefarious areas and be safe about what you are leaving in your truck bed for extended periods of time.

    I've been on the fence about getting the Outlander soft top to simplify my camping/fly fishing trips. I like the way these fit compared to the Softopper and the other competitors but I'm wondering if the lack of zipper pulls on the inside is a pain. Don't want to double around when I'm trying to get out, ya know what I mean. Any thoughts on this? Is opening up from inside a pain?

      Biggest difference with the outlander is the windows. Which is really nice to have because it allows some light into the bed when you’re grabing things out of the truck bed and it honestly looks a bit better with windows than the models without windows.

      I just ordered one of these for my truck, and out of all them, the outlander has the best deal on them. Softopper used to be the cheapest, and were able to get one under 800, but their prices are now as high or higher than the outlander. Plus, from what I've seen. The outlander is the best looking out of all of them.
