This is a good, informative and unbiased video. The thing is that a "racing" seat shape will never be comfortable as it's meant to provide something else. It's shaped in a certain way to keep the driver and wrap around him while racing a car. Therefore they are smaller, tighter and harder. Ergonomic office chairs are the best way to go for the most of us that would not enjoy these "racing" chairs. These on the other hand force you to sit in a way that's OK for your posture. They tend not to be too comfortable on the other hand too as some of them are weirdly shaped with lumbar support being too strong. It's the same story as with the pillows on "racing" chairs. I've been there too years ago and my solution was finally to (warning: now my AD is coming) build a professional office chair made out of a BMW 7-Series comfortable office chair. I took my time to visit different car manufacturer's dealerships and try different car seats and BMW is simply the best, the most versatile and eventually the most comfortable for most of us. Mercedes-Benz is not even far with their very firm cushions. Rolls-Royce is actually not really good (!!!) in terms of the number of possible adjustments. Some time ago I started Power Seats and build and sell those office chairs worldwide. The BMW 7-Series office chair is the ultimate office chair and the primary product. There are others too but built mostly for fun and because there was an opportunity (like Nissan GT-R or Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe). Here you can see a video of the BMW 7-Series comfortable office chair in black Nappa leather (this is the softest of the leathers available in car world so far): ua-cam.com/video/mxxXBMEX2KY/v-deo.html. Yes, this is an advertisement but if so many of you will otherwise stay with the cheap "racing" chairs, then it's worth that you know what's available.
My gaming chair was so comfortable that I bought one for my grandma. She loved it!! It was a DXRacer Deluxe. I used mine for work (At least 8 hrs a day).
Had one for 3 years, recently ordered a second, yes, they are worth it. At least for tall people, I'm a 6'2" (1.88m) tall software developer and casual gamer with constant lower back pain and gaming chairs give me a lot of relief and comfort for those long PC hours.
Have to say, while watching well postured people test chairs is important too. I need someone who sits on one foot with their back bent in half to tell me if a chair is comfortable to them, because I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit like a normal person.
I was looking for an office chair and wound up getting a Homall racing gaming chair. It isn't perfect (arm rests don't adjust) but I'm more than happy with it.
Yoy should definitely give the smugdesk a try for gaming. I think it's the best chair for gaming or office. I sit about 4 to 6 hours a day gaming. It's mesh and perfect
I was very happy to hear #7, got my akracing onyx a little less than a week ago and I just couldn't make myself comfortable in it, I was afraid I would have to return it and look for something else. I'll wait out for a couple more weeks and see if I can get used to it, I vaguely remember this being the case with my previous chair years ago (a cheap ergoman knock-off). Thanks, man!
After just seeing all of these comments which are really anti gaming chairs - I wanted to share my experience with them. I bought mine in march 2013 that's not a typo yes it says 2013. Last year in Winter so after 5 3/4 years the gas spring died so I can't go up and down from where it's at right now but that's honestly fine cause it's where I want it to be anyway. I could also replace it but I don't have a reason too. Now this year actually like 2 weeks ago the rubber of the wheels started falling apart because of usual wear and tear so after 6 years and 5 months. Everything else on the chair - the reclining function, the armrests the padding of the seat cushion it all is still perfectly fine. I can either use the same wheels without rubber and get some protection for the floor (which I already own anyway) or get new wheels for ~30-60$ depending on which ones I want. I don't know about other peoples luck with chairs but mine usually didn't last long until the padding was horrible to sit on or the leather started to crack/peel off. I would say my dxracer was worth the 280$ I spent on it especially cause even though I recently started thinking about getting a new chair I still don't actually need one I just feel like maybe getting something new.
"Gaming" chairs are like Beats headphones. All style and no substance. Your gaming experience will be so much better with something that has your health in mind instead of a bucket seat and racing harness for all those g-forces you're going to experience at your desk. The reviewer brings up a good point that chairs made by companies that are truly serious about solid build quality, long-term health, comfort, and ergonomic research are in the $1000+ range. However, there is a very robust used market for them and with a little searching and patience you can get your hands on something far superior (and better-looking imo) to these gaming chairs for the same price. To answer the title of the video - no, gaming chairs are not even remotely worth it.
I agree. But I would purchase a gaming chair (Which I am) to help out with my scoliosis because of the lumbar and headsets included. And my chiropractic recommended it to me.
I was sitting for a couple years in a discounted Ergohuman chair, and honestly, I hated it. It just didn't support my back enough and the recline resistance was too weak. After a couple years the seat became too hard and started hurting my ass, I went to an office chair store, tried several office and ergonomic chairs, didn't really like any of them. I was offered to try a dxracer, I was hesitant at first cause I was sceptic about gaming chairs, but goddamn, I sat in it and it was instantly comfy.
@World's Biggest Booty Hoes okamura contessa, steelcase leap and ergohuman whatever it's called all have the ability to recline and an (optional) headset i fully agree with your point though
Have you been looking at them with your eyes closed? There's SO MANY high end chars that have standard/optional headrests and recline and are adjustable. I did the research before I bought one. The only thing they're worse at than gaming chairs is cornering at 50 mph.
So, just in case anyone's interested- i wanted to comment a parallel i picked up on - it’s about giving the chair a couple of weeks before rejecting it - a few years ago i was lucky enough to get a company car that was a sport model - it had really, really firm bucket seats and really, really stiff suspension - it felt every little bump - like you could feel a stone on the road!!! - and I thought ‘well this was big mistake!!!’ - but after a few days I loved it - those were the best seats I ever had - I did 160k+ miles in that car and never had back ache - it turns out firmer is much better for the long haul - for me anyway :)
For me, the most important factor in chair is for my lumbar specifically and whole back to be comfortable and even if i move it forward I need chair to fit it I need good chair support this thing
My advice is find a Herman Miller or Steelcase (re)seller locally and reach out to them. Many refurb used office chairs that they bought back from local businesses and sell them for a heavily discounted price. I bought a refurbed Steelcase Leap 1 Chair for only $250 (they retail for around $1,000 brand new). 5 years later it is as good as new. These commercial chairs are built to last.
Wow! Probably the best tid bit I've gotten here is at the end of the video! 10:01 A higher-end chair may be uncomfortable at first because it's forcing your body to an ergonomic position! Thanks!
I bought the big version of dxracer 5-6 years ago after seeing it for the first time in league worlds. It costed around 350€ back then, but man, after all this time it's still as comfortable as the first day it arrived. PU leather peeled off a little, but I couldn't care less about that. I tried high end office chairs, but I honestly can't sit as comfy in those.
the herman miller ergonomic chair that you showed doesnt have lumbar support. However there are many other options out there that allows adjustable lumbar support, if that's important for you.
For anyone that doesn't understand why you would buy a gaming chair over a office chair if you lose comfort: Gaming chair adjustment features are important to fit any desk size, keyboard and mouse arrangement, and just general ergonomics. My wrist was hurting from the height of my new desk and position of my peripherals, and after getting a really cheapo version of a gaming chair the problem was fixed, and I absolutely love the experience so far. If you can get a office gaming chair, which has height, adjustments, and comfort all in one, that would be the best experience, but something like that would be easily near $500+
Due to my past experience I have used both expensive office chair and secret lab. I tell you secret lab is worth your money. It’s a good investment especially when used for work, gaming, and sitting for a long period of time.
DX Racer... an easier time... that's a laugh. My DXRacer was built for my body type (in fact, it was their specific recommendation for my height and weight at the time) after 2 years, the foam in the bucket flattened out exposing the tubular steel frame. Not only did DXRacer not have any support options. (which can be forgivin, kind of. it was a couple years old at this point) what was even more unforgivable was and is the fact that I was unable to purchase a replacement for the bucket portion of the seat. Will never give DXRacer my money again. Avoid at all costs.
❤️❤️❤️I really like this compilation but it is missing ( Furmax Office Desk Leather Gaming) in my compilation the number is included. Nr1 Note that these products were ranked “best seller” at the time this article was written. Amazon’s Best Seller list is updated hourly, so for the most current list.
I ended up buying myself a 350 GBP _noblechairs Hero_ gaming chair because I could find enough reviews on it that I pretty much knew what I was getting. But I couldn't do that for a high back office chair because people just don't review them, so I would have been buying completely blind. The _Hero_ has been a complete success; it's doing exactly what I needed it to beyond merely keeping my ass off the floor.
#3 factor I wondered this as soon as I bought my cheaper priced gaming chair off Wayfair. I noticed it looked A LOT like other gaming chairs around the same price range. Same hinge type, same assembly process, same instruction paperwork etc.
currently have had the King DXRacer chair for over a year now and it's very nice sitting and has helped my side pain tremendously. Only wish it sat lower to the ground, but buying a small ottoman is wonderful for reclining and watching videos/movies
Thanks for posting this. I'm in the market for a new computer chair and wanted to see what was up with the gaming chairs everyone seems to be using nowadays. Thanks to your first tip, I know I'd rather have the comfort of an office chair.
I rather have a soft pillow than a non removable back breaker. I like no lumbar support because it's always more uncomfortable than none at all for me.
I had a gaming chair and sold it for an office chair. This one is chepaer, the foam not as good, but works just the same and I can use a small pillow on my back if wanted. On the gaming chair my body was supported by the two pillows on the back, and it's fucking hard to find a chair thats good for my exact size so I decided to get a simple comfortable one and adjust it myself to my needs
gaming chairs are everywhere and somewhat affordable affordable office chairs usually look like they feel terrible, might as well get a cheap wooden chair. there might be some really good ones expensive office chairs are probably good but not gonna spend $800+ on a chair. my current gaming chair is a bit big, but at least it lasted longer than 2 years...
MrChow 323 I've been sitting in an Office chair which my dad took from his work 2 years ago. It's time for an upgrade and I've heard only good things about sectetlab so an omega it is
@@eaztq1901 Maybe get an Omega, otherwise the lumbar support of the Titan might be too high since you're small and the chair is for people upwards of 1.80 meters.
I bought a knockoff DXRacer chair for $100 and I love it. Best thing about these gaming chairs is that they force me to sit up, unlike the office chairs I've had in the past. My posture is perfecto.
I am doing something wrong? I can never find comfort in that chair (omega) its either I sit on the edge or I lay back and begin getting shoulder/arm soreness. Can't even seem to grip my mouse properly as well.
Whether your willing to believe it or not, it was an honest mistake. Unfortunately, for you're sake, and everyone else's who watched this video, I didn't go back and double-check my grammar. Sometimes I rush through the editing process and make dumb mistakes like this one. Hopefully, your willing to overlook my error!
My OPSeat Master Series is the best chair I've ever owned. More comfortable than my officer chair was. Still in perfect condition over a year later. Hasn't gone flat, like my office chair did in under 6 months. The only issue I had was the welding on my base broke and the chair separated from the base completely. However, they sent me a new chair within a week and it's lasted longer with no difference in how I use it. I know someone who got a DxRacer. They said the same thing about it still being comfortable after years. The only difference is that they paid a lot more than I did. Something like double and I paid $230.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ergonomics and Comfort are two different things, right? So something that might feel comfortable might not actually be all that ergonomic, so you'll gradually get some soreness issues after a short time, while those same soreness issues wouldn't happen until a much longer time has happened if you had sat in something more ergonomic instead. In other words, short term comfort might mean long term soreness and pain.
Gaming chairs just aren't worth it for me. I went from an office chair to a gaming chair. The comfort level has dropped a ton. My old chair was so comfy I could fall asleep in it easily.
I bought the Secretlab Titan 2020, and waiting for it to come, i’ve been using a wooden chair for long time and it hurts my back and buttocks so bad. I can’t wait to try it out, many people tell me to buy office chairs, but i want to be able to recline the chair aswell as lie on it so whenever i watch movies i can feel relaxed.
@@bowlofryce1024 in your case sure. At your height and weight you need no neck or lumbar support. Just go for the most fancy design and grab the cheapest one, you can find.
i was using a normal office chair for years. I bought a gaming chair and immediately felt the difference, my lower back got relaxed. And i was sitting upright during my gaming sessions, but while it may keep a straight back it still hurts like hell cause the only thing working on your body is your back.
Godd Howard no. There is a difference between a seat designed for a car and someone being into cars turning it into a computer chair so they feel more "cool". A lot of them also still keep the bucket seat + elevated front design of car seats, which are designed for having your feet in a different position than straight down like you have while sitting in front of a computer and prevent you from sliding sideways, which reduces movement and the elevated front can cause constriction of blood vessels among other things.
Cookie Panda I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this! Honestly office chairs are freakishly expensive. I think the gaming chairs are actually just cheaper then the crazy office chairs
Advice to anyone looking into chairs: I have the TT eSports X-Comfort chair. Thermaltakes top of the line chair. I won it in a contest and was so excited! Here it is, over a year since I got it and the damn thing is still as HARD AS A ROCK. its terrible. No clue why they have the word comfort in it at all. I purchased a dx-race for my son years ago.. its incredibly comfy and has lasted really well. FYI - he is 5'6 and its great for him... my chair is min 5'9 so it really doest go as low as I would like. His does....
Great video. In my personal opinion you missed the point about the material. As I am used to sit shirtless during summer, it is possible to have your back "stuck" to the chair and this is really annoying especially on the leather or synthetic leather, even if you're gonna sweat.
As a car guy and gamer I will never understand why people that genuinely don't care about cars or know shit about cars other than it gets them from A-B, buy gaming chairs with automotive racing stylized seats. If you didn't care before and thought customized cars with racing style seats looked uncomfortable then why do you all of a sudden like them and want one for a desk chair? For simulators that's fine because it adds to the simulation immersion but for a standard desk chair? The flashy upholstery is the only reason to get one and at that point you might as well for for a full LED chair as well. Pure sports cars that have racing styled seats are not comfortable to sit in for several hours, where as a grand touring car would have much more luxurious and comfortable seats as they are meant for long distance driving. If you really want a car seat for a desk chair get something based on a luxury performance car seat like a Cadillac or Mercedes Benz. And if you really want a racing seat go buy a Kirkey racing seat and padding so you can say you are a bad ass because you have a racing seat for a desk chair, lol.

Rollout keyboard with the mouse on it? This isnt a review from a gamer perspective abort boys
My gaming chair was so comfortable that I bought one for my grandma. She loved it!! It was a DXRacer Deluxe. I used mine for work (At least 8 hrs a day).
For the best lumbar support, just go for a Steelcase Leap.
It has the height and strength adjustability on the lumbar support itself.
So does titan evo 2022
Had one for 3 years, recently ordered a second, yes, they are worth it. At least for tall people, I'm a 6'2" (1.88m) tall software developer and casual gamer with constant lower back pain and gaming chairs give me a lot of relief and comfort for those long PC hours.
This guy is the least qualified to review chairs, look at his posture...
Hate to say it but yea, you've got a point there.
+1 point
I have to agree with you on that 😂
it is precisely because of his posture he is qualified :)
@World's Biggest Booty Hoes okamura contessa, steelcase leap and ergohuman whatever it's called all have the ability to recline and an (optional) headset
i fully agree with your point though
Have you been looking at them with your eyes closed? There's SO MANY high end chars that have standard/optional headrests and recline and are adjustable. I did the research before I bought one. The only thing they're worse at than gaming chairs is cornering at 50 mph.
@@ClearAlera where do you recommend I purchase a good chair? What chair did you get bro?
For me, the most important factor in chair is for my lumbar specifically and whole back to be comfortable
and even if i move it forward I need chair to fit it I need good chair support this thing
Thanks!
It's sad that proper integrated lumbar support designs like Secret Labs Titan aren't the norm yet.
They are not the norm because their lumbar support is not height adjustable, so it's only good for people of a certain height.
What height are they good for
8:30 it was at this moment he realized his video was less than 10 minutes long
I bought the big version of dxracer 5-6 years ago after seeing it for the first time in league worlds. It costed around 350€ back then, but man, after all this time it's still as comfortable as the first day it arrived. PU leather peeled off a little, but I couldn't care less about that. I tried high end office chairs, but I honestly can't sit as comfy in those.
0:55, made my mind up. Thanks.
You know that’s a 1.2k dollar chair right?
That will be $2,500 please
the herman miller ergonomic chair that you showed doesnt have lumbar support. However there are many other options out there that allows adjustable lumbar support, if that's important for you.
“People buy them because they look cool.” Don’t call me out like that
For anyone that doesn't understand why you would buy a gaming chair over a office chair if you lose comfort: Gaming chair adjustment features are important to fit any desk size, keyboard and mouse arrangement, and just general ergonomics.
Thank you so much, I’m going for a comfortable office chair now
Sun Trail same lol
I got a 300 office chair and it's nice but it cant handle long hours my tail bone starts to ache. That's why gaming chairs are more firm
What office chair did you go for?
@@jw3384 but it wouldnt a more firm chair be even more.tough on your tailbone?
Still alive? What chair did you pick?
Due to my past experience I have used both expensive office chair and secret lab. I tell you secret lab is worth your money. It’s a good investment especially when used for work, gaming, and sitting for a long period of time.
Who else is watching this while sitting on a cheap plastic that costs -9$ ? But my PC is 1200$+
Edward ¡999 no one cares
Yep, no one cares
DX Racer... an easier time... that's a laugh.
What about finding a high quality toilet? You gotta find one and take a dump in it first to see if it's a must buy!!! XD
I tried that, but they kicked me out of Lowes.
A gaming toilet under my gaming chair
ewwwww
Good point about taking sufficient time before judging the comfort of a new chair.
What brand of Desk is that in your video? That desk looks awesome!
I just got a $100 gaming chair on Amazon called the "Homall S-Racer". and it is really comfortable and affordable!
Probably the same one I got about a week ago. Great purchase for the price!
far inferior than secretlab chair. but for that price, it is ok
Im 12 yrs old, I will buy the arozzi junior gaming chair! It is perfect, budget and the perfect width and height for me :D
Was it worth it?
@@ryu_m8133 I never bought it, I decided to buy the mahmayi C599 gaming chair
#3 factor
I wondered this as soon as I bought my cheaper priced gaming chair off Wayfair. I noticed it looked A LOT like other gaming chairs around the same price range. Same hinge type, same assembly process, same instruction paperwork etc.
My height has effected every chair I've had, I might get a beanbag or something
currently have had the King DXRacer chair for over a year now and it's very nice sitting and has helped my side pain tremendously. Only wish it sat lower to the ground, but buying a small ottoman is wonderful for reclining and watching videos/movies
An un-cushioned armrest .. will tear the hell out of your elbows. Most gaming chairs fail to have cushioned armrests.
I know!!
Thanks for posting this. I'm in the market for a new computer chair and wanted to see what was up with the gaming chairs everyone seems to be using nowadays. Thanks to your first tip, I know I'd rather have the comfort of an office chair.
Lumbar pillow lol. Pay 500euro for a chair only to support essential body parts with a pillow
But it works
You can just use office chair
Whit pillow
I rather have a soft pillow than a non removable back breaker. I like no lumbar support because it's always more uncomfortable than none at all for me.
I had a gaming chair and sold it for an office chair. This one is chepaer, the foam not as good, but works just the same and I can use a small pillow on my back if wanted. On the gaming chair my body was supported by the two pillows on the back, and it's fucking hard to find a chair thats good for my exact size so I decided to get a simple comfortable one and adjust it myself to my needs
@@NaudVanDalen most of the ones he showed had removable pillows tho
gaming chairs are everywhere and somewhat affordable
affordable office chairs usually look like they feel terrible, might as well get a cheap wooden chair. there might be some really good ones
expensive office chairs are probably good but not gonna spend $800+ on a chair.
my current gaming chair is a bit big, but at least it lasted longer than 2 years...
Secretlab is the way to go. DxRacer chairs are good, but when it comes more to the comfort, Secretlab is better. Especially the Titan series.
Do you have a titan yourself? I'm quite small so I'm considering an omega.
EazT Q1 I do I got one 3 weeks ago, and so far the secretleb has been amazing. The comfort level is great.
The way you actually look at stuff and review them makes all the difference. Thank you
I enjoy your reviews, very helpful and informative. Can't wait to see a few more before I make a purchase. Thank you keep it up.
Thanks for watching and for the comment. I appreciate it!
Thanks for not wasting my time. First topic: Comfort. It fails, I have no idea what’s necessary after that.
1:46 what the heck is written???
"you're" instead of "your" !!!

Something like double and I paid $230.
very helpful vid thanks to this i could find the perfect chair for my height, weight and bank balance
*_But can you do this??_*
It's only 399
do what?
I don’t think so!
ON CONCRETE
@@MACFANTASTICKYPESS it's a meme where you recline 180 degrees in the chair. when they say "But can you do this??" they recline.
Gaming chairs just aren't worth it for me. I went from an office chair to a gaming chair. The comfort level has dropped a ton. My old chair was so comfy I could fall asleep in it easily.
I thought I didn’t need it
And that my dad surprised me with one
And now I can’t go back to normal ones
The titan lumbar height isn't a flaw, they put in a minimun height recommendation for a reason.
Man, where did you got that desk? That is amazing!
If you want a good budget chair I will recommend the homall gaming chair on Amazon it is great for the price of $100
ItsParadox have you tried it? I’m thinking about it, I’m 5’5 at 105lbs
90 bucks on Amazon. Worth it?
@@bowlofryce1024 in your case sure. At your height and weight you need no neck or lumbar support. Just go for the most fancy design and grab the cheapest one, you can find.
i was using a normal office chair for years.
I bought a gaming chair and immediately felt the difference, my lower back got relaxed.
And i was sitting upright during my gaming sessions, but while it may keep a straight back it still hurts like hell cause the only thing working on your body is your back.
I really dont care about the design. I just want a comfortable chair with the reclining feature. Would anyone like to recommend one?
Actually nvidia chips are nvidia. They sell to the partners. Same as amd and intel.
I don't think gaming chairs look cool at all, they look like they are designed by a 10 year old who really loves cars
Cookie Panda so racing cars seats look like they are made by a 10 year old?
Godd Howard no. There is a difference between a seat designed for a car and someone being into cars turning it into a computer chair so they feel more "cool". A lot of them also still keep the bucket seat + elevated front design of car seats, which are designed for having your feet in a different position than straight down like you have while sitting in front of a computer and prevent you from sliding sideways, which reduces movement and the elevated front can cause constriction of blood vessels among other things.
Ok
Cookie Panda I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this! Honestly office chairs are freakishly expensive. I think the gaming chairs are actually just cheaper then the crazy office chairs
Cookie Panda In the racing style gaming chair, they keep the holes in the head rest. Now who the fuck is gonna attach harnesses to a “gaming” chair.
Me sitting on my Secretlab Titan watching this:
*Sweats Nervously*
Advice to anyone looking into chairs: I have the TT eSports X-Comfort chair. Thermaltakes top of the line chair. I won it in a contest and was so excited! Here it is, over a year since I got it and the damn thing is still as HARD AS A ROCK. its terrible. No clue why they have the word comfort in it at all. I purchased a dx-race for my son years ago.. its incredibly comfy and has lasted really well. FYI - he is 5'6 and its great for him... my chair is min 5'9 so it really doest go as low as I would like. His does....
Playing hours can hurt your back but gaming chairs is here to save the day
1:44 you're height xDDDD I made mistakes the same way before, I feel you BRO, Great Vid, 100% agree
Great video.
In my personal opinion you missed the point about the material. As I am used to sit shirtless during summer, it is possible to have your back "stuck" to the chair and this is really annoying especially on the leather or synthetic leather, even if you're gonna sweat.
WAIT FOR THE RGB VERSION

Dodge and Cadillac leather seats, makes the best leather chairs. they got heat and vibrates , the back seats make a nice love seat
I know maxnomic makes a chair that is EXACTLY same shape as Secret labs
I bought a Noble Epic £300 two years ago and it's still the most comfortable chair I've ever used, can't recommend then enough brilliant!!!
The leather from my maxonomic chair started to peel off after one year even tho i only weigh 60 kg and wore sweatpants while sitting
Don't clean it chemical products. Happened to me
As a car guy and gamer I will never understand why people that genuinely don't care about cars or know shit about cars other than it gets them from A-B, buy gaming chairs with automotive racing stylized seats.
These things tend to be overpriced and uncomfortable, in my experience
Thanks for the tutorial man. Was good to have a guide along the way! Just got this chair for work and loving it so far!
Perfect Lumbar support = lose weight off your gut
2nd best option = use a pillow
3rd = get a levus.co
The last advice in the last of the video was epic ♥
