@ReturnTrip yeah to me a chair being a reasonable price is like 150$ and i own a 2500$ PC. Chairs are made of fabric and plastic and do nothing but hold you. They are extremely overpriced. Even the most expensive office chair on earth shouldnt be higher then like 700. These fucking 3k$ chairs are just stupid.
This was a very helpful video. The only thing I would recommend is adding bookmarks to the video for the start of each price range discussion to make it easier to jump back and rewatch specific sections.
You really mean that, you really think there is no room for improvement? Never in my 41 year old life have I ever watched a video where I was convinced it could not be improved. What an experience this must have been for you.. I'll give you one example where I think it could be more thorough: I have a kinnarps chair and I would have liked to know if it was also in the runnung, however they did not list all the chairs that they compared.
I had never thought about office chairs. I had chairs; I sat in them. Mine broke, so I decided to look up a good one and found this video. My Ticova arrived about an hour ago. I built it. I sat in it. I didn't understand that there was a difference, until now. This has been the second-most useful video I've ever seen on youtube (after one teaching me how to use a torque wrench to re-attach the break caliper on a 2012 Acura).
I have watched a lot of chair reviews by various reviewers. In my view, you guys have the most accurate reviews with a lot of attention to detail. Keep up the good work!
Cheers guys! Just picked up the Ticova and I'm loving it so far. Here in Japan it was on sale for 14,000yen which is like $103US. At that price point I couldn't say no. Maybe someday I'll invest in a super high end chair but this will do me for now. Big step up from the Costco Executive Chair I had before.
Already have the Leap V2, looking at picking up a Amia tomorrow for a "steel." I might have to make this happen... Not finding a video of how to make it work though. Any help??
I picked up a used baseline fern for 50. Absolutely perfect purchase. Didn't have adjustable seat depth or recline stop. But it had the channels available so the seat could be pinned in place. Adding recline stop would be a thougher mod.
After watching numerous videos of yours I bought a ready-to-ship Haworth Soji based on your recommendation. I'm quite happy with my purchase. Hearing you bring it back up as your top pick for the price range was a pleasant reaffirmation in my choice. Keep up the important work!
Great content, guys -- I bought the Haworth Soji via your link given your strong recommendation (and my budget); well done and appreciate your commentary.
i got a brand new fern 3 weeks ago for 950+tax from amazon, mesh, no headrest no lumbar, everything else fully loaded, haworth seems to do discounts very often
Thank you so much for this video. Decided to buy the Ticova for my home office setup after seeing this, as it was the only "affordable" option in Spain. Ended up paying 160€ for it ($178) as it had a 40€ discount on Amazon. This is the *first and only* chair I've ever sat on in which I find myself using good posture. The list includes the Herman Miller Celle that I used for 6 years at a certain giant database company.
One spec I'd wish you'd have mentioned for each chair is their weight limit. I just started looking for a chair and as I am about 240, I need to ensure that I don't crush a flimsy chair. Other than that, I like your videos. One question regarding headrests: doing I really want one or not? I guess my answer would be based on how much reclining I'd be doing. My last chair was one of those bonded leather models and I was able to recline with my head supported. But that bonded stuff, geez, did it snow when I carried it out of my house to toss it.
i bought my steelcase leap v2 8 years ago. it was refurbished and its still holding like a king... its was not even new when i bought it and it still more comfortatable than my friends new hgih end chairs.. thats crazy.. i will buy this chair again in the future and for my parents
I have had mine for 6 years now and my only regret is I got it in black leather. It gets out and I have a cat now so I wrap it in fabric which fixes the heat issue but it doesn't have that gorgeous look I fell in love with.
If you live in a metropolitan center, you can definitely get something like a HM Mira for < 250 and an Aeron for < 700. For the Aeron, I'd rather pay more and get the configuration I want, but if you're looking for something < 300, I feel like a used Mira is definitely the way to go as opposed to a new or refurbished chair
great video. i was torn between buying a new Clatina Mellet or a used/refurb Steelcase Amia.... I decided to go with the used/refurb Amia. more of a impulse decision really... hope i don't regret it.
They are on two different spectrums from comfort and quality in my opinion. The only way to get the Amia so reasonable is used/refurbished. So long as it fits you, I think you’ll be very happy -GK
6'-3" 205 lbs. #1: Haworth Fern. Hands down the best chair I've ever used. My office doesn't have the lumbar support or the head rest so I'd be curious to try that
I had to replace my home computer chair on a budget very recently and this vid of yours helped me decide on a Ticova, and even at 195cm it's very nice and comfortable. Thank you!
@@liuete No complaints whatsoever, still as when I got it even after decent daily use and am still very happy with the choice. Definitely a solid step up from the ikea office chair I had before.
Does the Lamia yield two full chairs? Meaning do you also put the Leap seat together with the Amia Back? I know it's counter productive but at least it's not a total waste of a chair if so. Thanks!
What would you choose for home usage between Fern, Embody and Amia? I have a standing desk and use chairs for work and gaming, probably around 5-7 hours a day
Ya'll ever mess with Vitra stuff? I had placed an order for a custom ID-L tall-back in some crazy fun colors, however the owner of the shop gave me the loaner of a brand new but discontinued 'Pacific' high-back, and I fell in love. Took me 2 days to cancel the order on the ID and negotiate a fair price for the Pacific. The back is fantastic, with the vertical adjustments and it's got this amazing ability to fold over backwards when you lean far enough back and can STREEEEETTTTCHHHH your spine in the most amazing way ever. I'm in love!
I love this style of tier list! To answer the question of my pick, I have the Herman Miller Aeron remastered at the office, and while it is really nice, I actually prefer my old Kinnarps 6000 Free-float, that I have at home to it. The ability to lock it in any position, combined with the denser padding and cloth upholstery is just a winning combination for me!
that chair is by far the most uncomfortable chair ive ever used... they had those in my last office and i had to ditch it for a cheaper conference room chair. the seat is way too hard and the sides of it smash in to my butt. ill never buy a mesh bottom chair because of the side plastic makes it so uncomfortable.
Is there any chance you could point out some 300$ budget chairs for the European market if there are some different options or brand names for the same? Looking at these two options, neither are readily available over here locally or on Amazon.
I wish we had more access to products over there. If I make a trip to Europe, I need everyone in that area of the world to PROMISE they will watch the video and share :) -GK
My Ticova is sheering where the back connects to the base. When I got it in October of 2023 I was around 260 pounds. I've lost 30+ pounds since then so I'm not as hard on it as I was. For a $120 chair, I'm very impressed with its comfort and options, just bummed that it's breaking. I'm between buying another one and just expecting a year out of it or getting a used slightly higher end option. Eventually I'd like to get the Fern.
I’ve been looking for a chair and I’m on a tight budget. So while watching your picks for the least expensive I start looking them up on Amazon and I find the Ticova for $229 and a $100 off coupon. I got the chair for $129 plus tax, no shipping. That coupon sealed the deal I can’t wait to get my new chair 😊. Thanks guys
@@btodtv It appears that the reviewed model has an ASIN number of B08LBJXVSP and was listed back in 2018. The one that Marie appears to have bought is B0B9YGB3B7 and was listed on August 17, 2022. It is also called 3DARMREST. They appear to be virtually identical. It is now $269.99 less the $100 coupon. I'm gonna give it a try too. It's gonna arrive next Wed, the 16th. Fingers-crossed.
I believe that the Steelcase Think V2 is a seriously underrated chair. I know that it's not for everyone but I love the 3D-knit backrest. It's the only backrest that I find to be truly comfortable because it has the breathability of a mesh-back with the support of a hard-back. Also, I love that the seat is an actual cushion as opposed to just mesh. It is soft enough to sink into but firm enough to support my weight.
For inexpensive go Orangebox Do, for high end, Hag Sofi, I also have a Herman Miller Mirra which for me is better then the Aeron as I like the option to sit with one leg tucked under the other.
got a refurbished fursys t50 for $80 back in august 2023, or exactly 1 year ago dependin on when you are reading this comment, and all I can say very very worth buying a good chair, been using this for 6-8 hours almost everyday without having any back aches that I used to have with my old gaming chair
Thoroughly enjoy these videos. Bought a Leap v2 off a friend who decided it wasn't for him years ago, and it's been my daily driver since. Easily could put 10-14 hours a day in it and not be uncomfortable.
@@btodtv Pretty sure I paid $500 (CAD) for it. Could be the best $500 I've ever spent. Upgraded to a longer cylinder to give me a bit more height as I'm 6'4.
On the high end: Teknion/Okamura Contessa, but only with the upholstered seat. Not a fan of the standard mesh seat. Then, probably the Allsteel Acuity.
Good call on avoiding that mesh seat on the Teknion Contessa. Why do you like the Acuity so much? UA-cam let us know you've been subbed for 4 years! Thanks for always contributing :) -GK
@@btodtv i really liked the arms, the broad seat, and the deep seat slider. I'm not that tall but most seat sliders don't go deep enough for my taste. The mesh is also one of my favorite meshes in terms of softness+support.
@@StardustLegacyFighter i believe so, but the arms and mesh are much worse. Their seat pans are awful, even worse than the Okamura's mesh. The casters are worse, too.
It's good to see all 3 of you picking a chair from the top 3 chair companies. I hope people see that there is variety at the top, instead of being super brand loyal like some people in the comments usually are. Even though I regard the Aeron as the best, I've always wanted to see more Steelcase and Haworth chairs in the UK and have them match Herman Miller at every step, like they do in North America.
You have a purple heart in our Dashboard now, for getting the highest number of hearts from us. Thanks for always showing up and supporting what we do! :) -GK
@@btodtv Wow, that's awesome! But seriously, thank you guys for consistently putting out great videos and giving your unbiased views about chairs and other types of products. 👍
I like this type of format. Straight to the point. Unfortunately it also proves that good chairs remain expensive and thus the more expected models were chosen. I came here because I was looking for a chair for my gaming desk without having to go for a typical gaming chair. I already had my eye on the Merryfair Wau 2 / HJH Spektre (same chairs, different brands so I guess that should raise red flags) because well, yes, esthetics are also a factor for a modern look. The mesh combined with that really eye-catching white and grey spacy design appealed but as it currently stands I am not that sure anymore. Also, though you get what you pay for in most cases when sticking to the established brands, I also think it is about balancing between what is healthy and good for you while also still remaining it justifiable. In my case that would be a chair that does a great job for the time I will be using it (not professionally) while also offering a design that fits in with a modern gaming / production room. So starting all over again and probably turning away from the HJH Spektre / Merryfair Wau 2...sigh
As pointed out in their video refurbished chairs are always an option that can bring the price down to something more affordable. For instance they suggested the Amia and while the price is around $900-1000 for a new chair I see Madison Seating is selling a refurbished one for $300 and I see other used Amias in the same price range. Given the quality of Steelcase products I wouldn't worry too much about their lifespan.
@@btodtv unfortunately I don't know that either but would be very glad to see some more EU brands as it is pretty hard to come by some of the USA/Canada brands. Especially here in Poland. But this profim accis pro with the headrests really stood out to me and I am looking for a professional review as there aren't as many. But thanks for answering
Really interesting, thank you! Surprised that none of the high range chairs have a headrest which is an absolute must for me, will have to keep searching
Get an Aeron and buy an atlas headrest separately if you want a chair with a headrest. I understand why they don't care about headrests because typically they are fixed or offer very little adjustment, and usually you have to lean your head so far back it puts you in an awkward position. I personally rarely used the headrests on chairs and the only reason I bought one for the Aeron is I figured I already spent so much damn money getting a fully loaded Aeron, I might as well spend a little more to have the complete package. But it was an absolute gamechanger due to the huge range of adjustment. Now I use my headrest constantly because I have it positioned where I only have to lean my head back an inch and it hits my neck in the perfect position so it feels natural to use and not like I have to look down my nose to see the screen like with every other headrest I have tried. If you want a high end chair with a headrest Aeron + Atlas headrest is the obvious choice, imo. Especially considering how few options there are for high end chairs with headrests, I am pretty confident in saying you probably won't be able to find anything better.
I tried out an Amia today at a furniture store and it's incredibly comfortable, much preferred it in pretty much every way to the Leap. The backstop feature I actually don't love so it seems just to be the perfect fit for me. Might pick a refurbished one up from y'all soon.
I'm forming together a new space after relocating and can finally take the whole workspace area very seriously. I appreciate these informative breakdowns on the whole gamut of brands out there. I hope your channel continues to boom because this is definitely currently underrated information.
This format is great! If I had to find something to improve I'd say you guys could smile a bit more, but the content is tip-top and I'm definitely going to try a fern around my location. Thanks for your awesome work!
Being 6'4", I agree with Robert regarding the Aeron. The stool option though.... maybe. Greg, Just take the left overs from the Lamia, make an Amleap and sell it!
I love everything about my Vera except the backrest at the top is not wide enough for me and the hard frame hits my shoulder blades. I'm 6'3" but fairly thin (180lbs).
The original Zody vs Fern is a good competition, but the way that Ryan has the Fern configured is definitely a more comfortable option. It's also quite a bit more expensive -GK
I have an office chair that I have "lived" in for the past 30 years! It was built by United Chair and purchased from Levenger for about $800 in 1993. I live at the computer 8-12 hours/day (graphic designer) and this chair still looks and performs like new - never any maintenance (so far). It has thick gray fabric covered padded seat and back. Looks like they no longer sell that style. Armrests were like a hard reinforced rubber (non-adjustable).
Your video is good. If you could add time stamps for each kind of chair in the video which could be helpful for me to review critical of chairs. Thanks in advance.
They usually do in their tier list videos, but in this case the chair picks were a secret to even them and putting timestamps with the chair names would defeat the purpose. However, they could add one for the price points.
I was heart-set about getting the Refurbished Amia or Leap, but Haworth has a sale for the Digital Knit Fern for under $1000 right now, and I never thought I could convince myself to spend that much money on a chair yet. I just have to convince myself to spend the extra money because the deal seems insane!
Lamia... Here we go again. Need to swap out the arms with the Gesture arms and you'll have the ultimate chair. If I had access to an amia, I would certainly play around with it. Cheers guys.
Leap V2's backrest and wider variety of adjustments The Gesture's seat adjustment, headrest and it's stability, and the arms Amia's seat A bonus thing they could do would be give it a uniform look like the Gesture and the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered Another bonus would clearly be the option to pick between a leather or fabric back and a leather or fabric seat individually (and I guess the headrest, which should probably come with a mesh option) Maybe it will be called the Steelcase Frankenstein, or perhaps the Leap V3
Hi guys I’m chair shopping, probably looking at Herman miller - with my max budget being the embody…my only thing is that I’m looking for something breathable, worried the embody might not be it? I get hot and have a sweating problem when sitting for long aha so also considering the aeron. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Just got the Ticova chair for $140 tax included. It had a 20% off deal and a $100 coupon available on Amazon. I wanted the Cletina Mellet, but couldn't pass on the deal.
@@snackyytv it was 20% off an a $100 coupon applied at checkout. Not sure if it's only for Prime users in US only or what. It's still showing the $100 coupon for me at $249.99
Thank you so much for making this detailed video. Having the three of you with your picks really helped me pick out a solid chair for the new place. Went with the Ticova.
Is there any women you work with that can give insight to the best chairs? Most chairs are designed by men for men. So it’s harder finding chairs when women are shorter than the average men and have hips and different pelvic tilts than men.
Hopefully I made the right choice cancelled my embody order for a fern as it was on offer and was almost half the price of the embody and they are normally compared to each other so for the price difference I couldn’t not change my order
I don't know how i ended up here but oh well i watched the whole thing because why not :P I might use this information at some point in my life and most likely will use it. Oh and btw, Lamia is actually the name of a large town here in Greece so this specific one really caught my attention :D
Hello, loving your channel, unfortunately I'm from a country (Portugal) that seems to lack almost all brands of chairs that you guys recommend and amazon prices with importation will skyrocket the cost of the chair. I will probably shamefully go for a gaming chair because its cheaper and ironically we have alot more of gaming chair brands than offices ones. If someone has any idea or suggestion it would be greatly appreciated :)

@@btodtv your screenshot in this video actually shows it with the $100 coupon
Bought a refurbished Leap last year for $500. Serves me well, though I haven't had the chance to test other high end brands yet.
Best chair review of all time
Thoughts on Clatina Mellet (230) vs Branch Ergonomic chair with headrest (370) ? Emphasis on comfort with nice headrest under 500.
My work has a deal where you can get a Fern chair for just 600 CAD - very glad to hear it's worth the money!!
Thank you! What did he charge you? -GK
@@btodtv Pretty sure I paid $500 (CAD) for it. Could be the best $500 I've ever spent. Upgraded to a longer cylinder to give me a bit more height as I'm 6'4.
Super helpful! Thank you guys!
You guys should try out the allsteel acuity and #19.
1:24 the guy just said in tier video “I like a pretty pronounced lumbar “ so which is it?
On the high end: Teknion/Okamura Contessa, but only with the upholstered seat. Not a fan of the standard mesh seat. Then, probably the Allsteel Acuity.
Good call on avoiding that mesh seat on the Teknion Contessa. Why do you like the Acuity so much? UA-cam let us know you've been subbed for 4 years! Thanks for always contributing :) -GK
Isn't the Okamura Contessa the chair which spawned the Vertegear Triigger 350 and Secretcrap Neuechair?
@@btodtv i really liked the arms, the broad seat, and the deep seat slider. I'm not that tall but most seat sliders don't go deep enough for my taste. The mesh is also one of my favorite meshes in terms of softness+support.
@@StardustLegacyFighter i believe so, but the arms and mesh are much worse. Their seat pans are awful, even worse than the Okamura's mesh. The casters are worse, too.
can you recommend a high back chair with mesh seat? something like an Ikea Markus, I hate the floating headrests, reminds me of dentist chairs
Love your content 😄, by any chance you guys have a pick for under $400 to grab in mexico?
In my case that would be a
chair that does a great job for the time I will be using it (not professionally) while also offering a design that fits in with a modern gaming / production room.
I would be very interested to see the profim accis pro. Do you have any plans on looking at some of the chairs from them?
I haven't tried that brand. I'm not sure how easy it would be to access in the USA. I see they are EVERYWHERE in Europe -GK
So we only get good cheap mesh chairs now? Don is the fake leather and cushions and spring that are comfortable?
@@nerdstrangler4804 thanks, will look into that one!
I was wondering what the specific difference between the Takova and Millet recline is?
#BTODTv can you tell us what is the model of that thin bezels LG monitor at 2:20 please?
Nice work guys. Thanks a ton.
Picked up a Haworth Fern from a local business that went under during the pandemic. Used for maybe a month, and I got it for 200. Absolute steal
Can you show us a tutorial on how to tear apart and build the great Lamia?
I tried out an Amia today at a furniture store and it's incredibly comfortable, much preferred it in pretty much every way to the Leap. The backstop feature I actually don't love so it seems just to be the perfect fit for me. Might pick a refurbished one up from y'all soon.
Great video, thanks!
Love the vibe and aesthetic.
They must have edited out all of my smiles!! haha. Thanks for subbing and the tip -GK
Haworth has a 15% sale off right now. The soji can be as cheap as $390. Just bought one
Herman Miller has a similar sale going on in the UK too, it's just a shame Steelcase and Haworth aren't there to compete and keep competition open.
Being 6'4", I agree with Robert regarding the Aeron. The stool option though.... maybe.
Greg, Just take the left overs from the Lamia, make an Amleap and sell it!
Stool or no stool, Aeron would still be my pick 😆 - RG
Looking on the site, it looks like prices are a lot lower now! And the “no-budget” pick built from two chairs is available for way cheaper now!
I love everything about my Vera except the backrest at the top is not wide enough for me and the hard frame hits my shoulder blades. I'm 6'3" but fairly thin (180lbs).
2nd! Have the zody and it's been comfortable for me so far, but I do wonder how different is the fern to the zody comfort wise?
We just got the Zody II's in. I'm sitting in the Zody LX right now! -GK
The original Zody vs Fern is a good competition, but the way that Ryan has the Fern configured is definitely a more comfortable option. It's also quite a bit more expensive -GK
@@btodtv Cool!! Hope to see a video on them soon!
@@btodtv Thanks!! Yeah price is significantly higher here where I live too.
A couple weeks and two videos should be live -GK
Thoughts on the ergo chair pro? Its one I've been looking at for quite a while.
Not a great chair. I'd look at a Soji in that price range.
@@jjoohhhnn A headrest is an absolute must for me but thanks for the response
Which is best for "forcing" you to sit with good posture to avoid tension headaches?
Wow, that's a fantastic deal!
I've heard great things about that version of the Fern, I wish I could try one in the UK.
Is not
Where can you buy the Fern with digital knit under $1000
where can you get a fern for less than 1000
Lamia... Here we go again. Need to swap out the arms with the Gesture arms and you'll have the ultimate chair.
If I had access to an amia, I would certainly play around with it. Cheers guys.
Still sitting in it, Joel!
Some have called that version the GLAmia :)
-GK
Leap V2's backrest and wider variety of adjustments
The Gesture's seat adjustment, headrest and it's stability, and the arms
Amia's seat
A bonus thing they could do would be give it a uniform look like the Gesture and the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered
Another bonus would clearly be the option to pick between a leather or fabric back and a leather or fabric seat individually (and I guess the headrest, which should probably come with a mesh option)
Maybe it will be called the Steelcase Frankenstein, or perhaps the Leap V3
Hi guys I’m chair shopping, probably looking at Herman miller - with my max budget being the embody…my only thing is that I’m looking for something breathable, worried the embody might not be it? I get hot and have a sweating problem when sitting for long aha so also considering the aeron. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Just got the Ticova chair for $140 tax included. It had a 20% off deal and a $100 coupon available on Amazon. I wanted the Cletina Mellet, but couldn't pass on the deal.
Got the same deal. Bought two of them at that price.
was that $100 off only a certain period? i dont see it anymore. only $20 off now
@@snackyytv it was 20% off an a $100 coupon applied at checkout. Not sure if it's only for Prime users in US only or what. It's still showing the $100 coupon for me at $249.99
Can you guys try out the Steelcase Please? Nobody talks about em. I see them for sale on the market place for 75-270. Curious on what u guys think :D
Thx for the reviews! Would love to see the Knoll Newson task chair also rated.. 🤔
Thank you so much for making this detailed video. Having the three of you with your picks really helped me pick out a solid chair for the new place. Went with the Ticova.
A review of best chairs for tall/short/heavy weight people will be awesome.
Is there any women you work with that can give insight to the best chairs? Most chairs are designed by men for men. So it’s harder finding chairs when women are shorter than the average men and have hips and different pelvic tilts than men.
Exactly , couldn’t find a single one that’s designed for women .
You guys every review the Branch Ergonomic Chair?
got a leap v2 for $220, from an office sale. can't be happier ;)
You should try and make a video on mavix chair, your welcom.
Great choices. But can we get a tier list for EUROPEAN brands. Most of these don't seem to be easily available in Europe.
Sure, but we will need you to ship those European brands to the USA 😉 -GK
@@btodtv Hello darkness my old friend...
Steelcase Leap v3:
-Leap back
-Amia seat
-Gesture arms
Which video did you introduce the Lamia in? I want to see how to do it and what it does for you.
i bought a hinomi H1 pro for 2weeks ago and i think it's very worth it for 579€ !
Thanks for making this video!
Hi, what rollerblade wheels are you using on your Fern?
can anyone recommend places in Europe to buy some of these ? like the Eurotech Vera for example :/ thanks !
Any recommendation for best chairs for tailbone pain?
