  • 🚨 Is your dog in danger from grapes and raisins? Find out the truth as I reveal the true danger risk of this common fruit for our furry friends. 🐶🍇
In the video, I dive into the uncertainty surrounding the toxicity of grapes and raisins for dogs. While some dogs can eat them without any issues, others can suffer from irreversible kidney damage.
The culprit behind this danger? Tartaric acid and potassium bitartrate found in grapes, which can vary greatly in concentration depending on the grape variety, growing conditions, and ripeness.
This means that even a small amount of grapes can be lethal for some dogs. Shockingly, an 18-pound dog died after consuming only 4 to 5 grapes, while the average toxic dose for a 22-pound dog is 37 grapes or 23 raisins. However, there have been cases of dogs experiencing toxicity from eating much less, making it crucial to understand the risks.
Find the grape and raisin toxicity calculator here - ourpetshealth.com/info/are-ra...
Signs of kidney damage to watch out for include lethargy, inappetence, increased drinking and urination, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
So, when should you be worried if your dog has ingested grapes or raisins? My general advice is to monitor an otherwise healthy dog if they have consumed less than the lowest toxic dose and watch for any signs of kidney damage. However, if your dog has eaten more than this amount, it's crucial to seek immediate veterinary advice and potentially induce vomiting.
The safety of our furry companions is paramount, especially for dogs with preexisting health issues or older dogs. What are your thoughts and experiences with grapes and dogs? Have you ever encountered this danger? Share your stories in the comments below!

If they say don’t do it, it usually means do it. My dog loves grapes (all accidental feeding of course), but I err on the side of caution until I positively know for sure if it’s detrimental.
As far as the acidic level, I’ve found that the deeper purple a grape is, the less acidic and sour it is. I literally eat grapes 5-6 days a week. It’s my fave sweet snack.

Thank you thank you thank you. I was unsure if my pup just ate a grape (I didn’t see it drop but he sniffed at the floor and when he looked back up at me he licked his lips while I was plating chicken, grapes and Brussels sprouts). Hes a 35 pound pitt bull/lab/chihuahua mix i lovingly call my little vacuum/stomach of steel because of how much trouble he likes to get into. It makes me feel good knowing that one on accident won’t hurt him. I can rest easier. And of course, I will still monitor.

I wonder if you could use baking soda to neutralise the tartaric acid? And where you said 'recent suggestions' it's the tartaric acid, it's still not evedince right?
My 3 year old 11kg dog ate some sultanas discarded out of someone's cake or something in the park yesterday. I ended up not making her vomit but gave her a large teaspoon of activated charcoal within 30min and 2 more times in the last 24hrs.
After watching a few videos now on the subject I'm definitely buying some hydrogen peroxide 3% to keep in the fridge in case of an emergency.
She seems fine after 24 hrs and was showing none of the toxicity symptoms.
Still, there could be slight kidney damage that might have a long term effect and I wouldn't even know.
Really wish I'd taught her not eat anything off of the ground unless I say it's ok. She has such a good nose and seems to find little morsels everywhere.
I still might be able to train her but it would be a lot of work I would think.
    She is my first dog.
