I love this song and I loved singing this song with the great JOE COCKER. That's me...Cydney Wayne Davis, the backup singer to the left of the screen. I toured with Joe for about five years in the early ninety's. This song is pure rock and soul.....pure Joe Cocker. I had to use everything I learned in church to sing this song. It has a gospel edge to it. The other singer is Maxine Sharp and Phil Grande is playing a mean guitar solo. The whole band is great and Joe is a true star.
thanks for sharing some history, i have listened to this hundreds of times...grew up in the 60s and 70s...this song is like the air that I breathe.your story is good to take it all in.

I saw him live on his 'Across from Midnight' tour in New Zealand. An unforgettable experience. No talking or superficial stuff, just real and gutsy soul blues all night.
I was fortunate growing up in the 60s70s and 80s. It allowed me to attend a few 100 concerts. And I was lucky enough to catch JOE 2 Times. One singer that pulls his singing voice from inside his whole body!!! Also got to see RAY CHARLES at Meadowbrook before he died!! Both performances made this grown man cry when they took the stage. Because I knew that they were putting on some of their last shows!!! And I was lucky enough to get to see them.
I saw Poco when I was around 16 with 2 male friends who lived in Diamond Bar California. What a fantastic time we had and got hammered after on Long Island ice tea!!!!!!
When I listen to When the Night Comes, I hear a voice that is reaching from his soul. He knows time is waning, being closer to death than youth, but that's what makes him belt it out. Every ounce of Joe Cocker was purely from deep experiences, some we don't have privy to. He brought a song to its knees by pushing every note from within. Thank you God for putting this man on earth, even if only a little while, we all got to share him. Now he is there for someone.
I knew Joe, band and stuff personally in the early 90s touring all over Germany. I was working as a very young manager in the music business and this band gave me always a very positive professional feeling. Joe was twice very close to death (NDE) and afterwards he transformed from an alc and drug freak to a world superstar, as well his wife influenced a lot in this fantastic transformation.... RIP Joe and Phil ! Your beautiful heart and music will be always here, thank you so much !! Hi Cydney, great job, great voice, enough to fall in love with you... :)

La voce che riscalda il mio cuore, guai a chi mi tocca Joe ❤ " I just want to be the one you run to I want to be the one you come to I just want to be there for someone When the night comes Let's put all the cares behind us And go where they'll never find us I just want to be there beside you When the night comes... Paramount Theater in Seattle, 1989. Probably the 400th concert that I've racked up since 1969. That one ranks among the Top All Time Best. From the technical aspects of the audio to the Off The Chain spot-on performance of the whole band - it was a night I'll never forget.
Joe Cocker is not just one of the best singers ever, is a gigantic symbol of a generation that carry with him the spirit of the 70's, idealistic, romantic, a bunch of dreamers that as baby boomers do positive things today for a better world in whatever activity of life. Joe Cocker simply BEAUTIFUL! as human being and artist.
yes baby boomers were good at music but thats where it ends buddy debt, mismanagement and there children having no pride in who they are or where they come from and no direction moving forward and a huge sense of entitlement so ya ,way to go
Damn, that was skillful, disciplined but still emotional. You were part of the soundtrack for a long time, Joe, thanks. ✌🇬🇧 Rock and roll never forgets!
Really saddened by the news of Mr. Joe Cocker passing yesterday in Colorado, where he was living for some years. He will be missed very much, no only as an artist but as a great human being. My condolences to his entire family, may God comfort them in this difficult time. He always will be loved and his songs will stay with us until the end of time, RIP Joe Cocker.
RIP Joe one of the greatest artist an deserves to be remembered with a lot of great classic's - this goes into my gold & great classic's collection, you should too !
Joe... what an eternal blessing to have worked with you in Scotland, backed by Kokomo for whom I was signed on Columbia. REST IN PERFECT PEACE Sir! Only a Living and personal God has your spirit (breathe) and soul Intact!
I have been a lifelong guitar player, and a lifelong Joe Cocker fan. The guitar solo in this, has always been one of my favorites. Aldo Nova is a savage on the guitar.
@@joelpanettaonline hmmmm. I have been wrong for years. I’m not sure, why I thought that was Aldo Nova, but I have always thought it was him. So this guy recorded this with Joe Cocker, and that’s him in the video too?
There is no one that has as much soul and pure earthy emotion as The FABULOUS Joe Cocker! Been a fan since 1969, grew up with him and I want his voice to be the one that I hear when I leave too!
Beautiful, I was thinking the same thing. There is a documentary on Netflix about him. I saw it last week and have watched it 3 times. I am so glad that someone had the sense to record his tours. There is an awesome part where they set up the stage in Germany by the wall that split that country after the war with Germany. I got goosebumps when I saw it. I won't say more. You have to see it. I will be 69 this May and still loving his music. I am so glad that he met his soul mate and that things got better for him towards the end. God love you and God love Joe Cocker.
missyA1958 I watched a Woodstock documentary and he was soo crazy cool!!!! I still get chills listening to his music! He puts his soul right where we can feel it!!
We too, my friend.... I am you, you are me, and alltogether we are really STRONG (the next spiritual super-ego or soul dimension)! LOVE AND PEACE AND CONSCIOUSNESS for everybody.... we will see you later so, Joe! Here we miss your pure perfect music....
If you could bottle the energy released in this video , you could power the world for a year! Man what artists they are ! Every member of this ensemble puts their heart and entire soul into this performance !
Why Joe hasn't won all music awards I will never know. His voice is so a God given gift that no one can touch it. These so called tribute bands are painful to sit trough so it's Joe or no one. So, Joe play LA as often and as much as possible. My tribe will be there and I will be to enjoy your voice and gaze on your absolute beauty

Give me a singer like Joe Cocker, someone who poured every ounce of his heart and soul into a song and sang every note like it was the last one he'd ever sing....any day.
Amy Winehouse
More accurately, Linda Perry.
Bruce Springsteen
La voce che riscalda il mio cuore, guai a chi mi tocca Joe ❤
" I just want to be the one you run to
I want to be the one you come to
I just want to be there for someone
When the night comes
Let's put all the cares behind us
And go where they'll never find us
I just want to be there beside you
When the night comes... "
Paramount Theater in Seattle, 1989. Probably the 400th concert that I've racked up since 1969. That one ranks among the Top All Time Best. From the technical aspects of the audio to the Off The Chain spot-on performance of the whole band - it was a night I'll never forget.
Rest in peace, Joe Cocker. Thanks for all those great moments.
Oh yeah! Saw him at Cleveland agora in 94? ...he puts it all out their in a performance!! RIP. JOE..
C servere 4rrv 4rr4
Amen!
Thank you joe
RIP???? He can't rest. He is still shaking to the music somewhere.
One of the greatest voices ever! Fact!
So happy I got to him live . Amazing band and he hit every note. He did a 2 hour show and the place was on their feet. RIP Joe
I saw Joe open up for ‘the Guess Who’ in Philadelphia, the Friday after 9-11. One of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen.
His best version of this song, so powerful and emotional.
@lenny zaroff. You said it perfectly, my friend. Can't be said about better.
We saw J C open for The Steve Miller band in Vegas.thought JC killed it.
amo ciò che hai scritto e condivido
yes baby boomers were good at music but thats where it ends buddy debt, mismanagement and there children having no pride in who they are or where they come from and no direction moving forward and a huge sense of entitlement so ya ,way to go
Damn, that was skillful, disciplined but still emotional. You were part of the soundtrack for a long time, Joe, thanks. ✌🇬🇧 Rock and roll never forgets!
Bryan Adams words and Joe Cocker's voice........MAGIC !
Joe gets more out of these songs than the originators, for sure.
The great Joe Cocker!!! A stormy voice!!!
Joe has music in his blood ,his moves and voice are so positive they lift your spirits to a unexplainable level. God Bless Joe Cocker.
Loved him to bits.He never made a bad song.Hope to see you in Heaven,Joe xx
I do love his moves! And of course his voice is always very right on. There’s no one even close to his. RIP.
He's amazing....I will love his music forever.

Joe Cocker sang with a passion deep from his soul! I am forever a fan and very thankful to have grown up listening to and watching him perform!
@@jakubsimek6872 Please see my comments to Lee Robinson above.

That's for sure
Though good, It's Not his music, it's his voice. He sings with fiery passion.
every time you listen to Old Joe, you better buckle up!
He put passion into his work!
Gotta see him once live in concert
I have been a lifelong guitar player, and a lifelong Joe Cocker fan. The guitar solo in this, has always been one of my favorites. Aldo Nova is a savage on the guitar.
I am both a Joe Cocker & Aldo Nova fan, but that is Phil Grande on guitar. Still a great, kick ass, savage solo
@@joelpanettaonline hmmmm. I have been wrong for years. I’m not sure, why I thought that was Aldo Nova, but I have always thought it was him. So this guy recorded this with Joe Cocker, and that’s him in the video too?
Agree, only guitar players can appreciate how good that solo is.
The First Man observed Wearing a Silver Silk Suit, Fantastic Concert in Connecticut Incredible voice ThankYou and RIP
One of the few singers who got better with age, amazing voice!
The hair on my arms and face are straight up. Chills. Awe. Powerful. Humbling. Thank You, Joe.
you got it Asma!
Amen!
Me too from 1968 or 69 not sure

We too, my friend.... I am you, you are me, and alltogether we are really STRONG (the next spiritual super-ego or soul dimension)!
LOVE AND PEACE AND CONSCIOUSNESS for everybody.... we will see you later so, Joe! Here we miss your pure perfect music....
If you could bottle the energy released in this video , you could power the world for a year! Man what artists they are ! Every member of this ensemble puts their heart and entire soul into this performance !
I love his music for ever!
Une voix éraillée, fabuleuse, et un talent immense et inoubliable.❤❤❤

Thank God for UA-cam because there we still have Joe. I love this man
This man has such great story, and the voice, spectacular.
What a dope concert to be at
IT TRULY DOSENT MATTER WHAT ONES VOICE SOUNDS LIKE *** WHEN THEIR MUSIC FLOWS FROM THE HEART AND SOUL !!!
REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND
Why Joe hasn't won all music awards I will never know. His voice is so a God given gift that no one can touch it. These so called tribute bands are painful to sit trough so it's Joe or no one. So, Joe play LA as often and as much as possible. My tribe will be there and I will be to enjoy your voice and gaze on your absolute beauty
When there's nothing left to lose. There's nothing left to fear. . .
Joe's arm's swinging . The best air- guitarist the world has ever seen. And one of the greatest voices this world has ever heard. .
Man,no one like Joe Cocker !! He still has those hand gestures.
