  • Say NO to store-bought Canned Chickpea or Garbanzo Beans. All you need is garbanzo bean or chickpea, water, and instant pot. Use the cooked beans right away, or store them in the fridge for up to 1 week or freezer for longer to replace a can of chickpeas in recipes.

I used to buy canned chickpeas at a big box store and I calculated the cans cost $1.19 ea. This was a few years ago before current inflationary prices. A bag of beans was $0.89. The pricing has gone up, of course, but dry beans clearly save you a lot and the quality is so much better.

I used to soak 20 to 30 of them overnight and eat in the morning for muscle gains before my workout. Steam version are very popular when tampered with mustard seeds and shredded coconut. They also offer this as Prasatham in temples in a leaf bowl. Great source of natural protein.

I used to always soak dry beans before cooking on the stovetop. However, since using the instant pot I don't soak beans anymore. I just add water and seasonings and cook. The slightly faster cooking time in the instant pot just isn't worth it in my opinion.

I cook them for 20 minutes in the Instant Pot (even after soaking).
