This song made me cry as a little boy in 1990, and it still does today.
Thank you to all our Vietnam veterans. And if nobody ever told you this back then, I'll tell it to you now... WELCOME HOME.
made me cry buckets as well The poison song something to believe in My great grandfather was in the war as well number One rip to My great grandfather
Awesome!! I Love it ❤️ Welcome Home and Thank you for your service.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and God Bless you.
Beautiful song makes u think
Thanks Bro 🤘
Thank you to my Uncle Bill and my Brother in law that both served during Vietnam. To all that were there thank you and Welcome Home. You all deserved that welcome home parade like they did for WW1 and WW2
Best song they ever made.
After my Father died in 1990, I used to listen to this song over and over again. And 33 years later it still hits my soul. Right On Bret Michaels for this one.
35 years for me
Faster Pussy Cat has a good one too! "House of Pain"
God rest your father.
Give me something to believe in! 1:25
Sounds like your father made a good impression on you. May he rest in peace.
My girls grew up listening to this band. My first daughter passed away at the age of 26 & loved this song & many more & would sing it on top of our coffee table like a rock 🌟 & always said this is for you momma❤ the vision will forever be with me ❤ we also had the pleasure of meeting you in Charlotte nc ❤️ 💙 God bless

So sorry mom I know you miss your baby Dearly 😢❤
My heart truly bleeds for you, Michele. I cannot imagine any loss more painful than that of a child. I am happy that you have the wonderful memory of your beautiful daughter not just singing - but devoting - this song to you.
I will pray that you take solace and comfort in knowing that she is now in her rightful place in God’s Kingdom smiling down upon you.
I also pray for you and your family that you continue to remember those wonderful moments with your daughter. 🙏
U.S. Army 1962 > 1965. I never get tired of listening to this song; brings back many memories.

As Desert Storm Vet, this song gave me realization of what Vietnam vet ptsd is. It's so real to me. My heart goes to my brother in arms who suffer from this.
Listening to this as a 20 your old woman in 2024 my papa used to sing this and every rose has its thorn when I was a baby and to this day I listen to it every night I wish my generation had music like this
But you do…. It’s right here for everyone to listen to and celebrate.
I support our troops n vets my grandpa was Vietnam vet thank you to all of you God bless you all
To all of our Vietnam Veterans, those who are still with us suffering, and those who God brought home, Thank You for your courage, bravery, and determination . You'll never be forgotten.❤
I second that. I met a gentleman at my job that told me he fought in Vietnam. I thanked him for his Service but he refused to accept it. He told me his job was to go in and eliminate all the women and children. That broke my heart you could clearly tell that haunted him clean up to his dying day. I almost started crying in front of him because I knew that's not what he wanted to do but that's what he was told to do. RIP Barry and thank you for your service
Bullshit I don't follow that order
@@eaglefan8493 sounds like total BS: real combat vets rarely talk about what they did, and real men don’t murder women and children.
Just a thank you to every Vietnam veteran, welcome home brothers with loving welcome arms. No judgment , just thank you for your service. You were called apone and did what you had to do for this country. Let the country answer for what you had to do.
GOD Bless Our Veterans 🙏
Heroes never forgotten 💖

This song always gives me chills. Music isn't what it used to be.
Take me back to 80's and 90's where the music was awesome and meaningful ❤️❤️❤️
😢🥹🥹 missing olden days like crazy , i wish we can...hmmmm 😥
Or as far back as the 50's where it all got crazy- FOR THEM?
And I was dancing on my dads toes to every song
when the hair bands had great music and then there was also QUEEN awesome times
Music still is. Every generation makes music. It's just that as we get older we stop listening.
I got something to believe in. God, Love, and Peace.
Me too.

Jesus Saves and is Someone we all can believe in. Our only purpose is to give praise to our creator, our Lord Jesus Christ.
I dedicate this song to all of us who lived in the 80's and 90's that experienced a great one-of-a-kind time and now are wanting to go back in 2024.
I was born in the wrong decade I swear
Yes
You don't get to "dedicate" this song. It was already dedicated to someone by the person that wrote it when he wrote it.
Amen to that. A completely different world. F
Yessss!!!! Straight facts!
It’s 2023 and the lyrics and video are still relevant today. Poison really hits home with this song. It really does make me feel and think. That’s what a great song will do, I believe!

As a 51 year old veteran and old journeyman, this song pulls the old heart strings every time.
There are times, I wonder how and why I'm still alive.
I don't mean to bother you sir I know that you are a vet too and I'm super proud of you for serving our country but I was wondering maybe you could help me my wife Chelsea who also is a vet to who served 12 years in the United States Air Force she retired with full benefits everything and now she's being called back into active duty but she's fully retired and they will not listen to her do you know anybody at the VA who is an attorney who can help us and if you could please respond back I would appreciate it and thank you for your service and remember it wasn't your fault you did nothing wrong

It wasn't your fault brother. You got fucked by the system.
I'm 49 I'm trying to figure out what ur a vet from...desert Storm?
I just served 18 mths in a state prison for drug related offences. I first heard this song at the age of 14. I am 44 now. This song played thru my head the whole 18 mths and i really had nothing to believe in. Today i am sober and clean from all drugs. Now i believe in myself. When you think there is no where else to turn, turn to yourself and believe in yourself. To all the addicts out there i believe in you. You can do it.
fucking brilliant Jason, that is powerful, keep striving mate! 👊
Congrats Jason, that's awesome!!!
Stay that way!!!! Clean and sober! You can do it!!!!
God bless you! Good job getting clean.
@@nicholasspears2025 he said he first heard it when he was 14, and that he is 44 now. So basically HE was referring to his own life; that he's and loved the song from since he first heard it WHEN HE WAS 14.
When this song first came out I was just a teen getting drunk with friends and rocking out. Now that I’m older I can’t listen to this song with out getting teared up. Not just because I understand it more and the words hold true today but all the friends i’ve partied with that I’ve lost along the way. This song brings me back to a time when things were simpler. Those are Memories I will never forget.
absolutely. too many now.
Exactly.

"Take me back to the rocking horse." 💜
I totally agree even though your comment also brought a tear to my eyes. It really did seem so much easier back then, carefree, joyful. Exciting. Now as we have gotten older & understand the world a lot better there are days when it is hard to find that "something" but we must never give up on looking for it.
✌️ ❤️ 😊
You can hear that guy's are speaking from the heart.
I have not heard this in years. It’s one of my favorite songs y’all performed. I’m so sorry for the Vietnam veterans, your friend, the homeless and the ills in our society that still exist today in 2023. Lord, Bret, you wrote beautiful songs. Sometimes I wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then. Give me something to believe in. Amen. Thank you for sharing these beautiful songs with us.

My daddy was a suicidal Vietnam vet, this song breaks my heart, I saw it firsthand how the Vietnam war tore a person's soul from their chest. I watched him suffer for years. I LOVE YOU DADDY... RIP
RIP SIR
I love your daddy for his bravery! What a good man!
Mine was similar. He was a navy frog man ; before the seal program. He was heavily involved in the cold war, believe me ,those guys saw plenty of action. And, sometimes had to do the unthinkable; he paid his dues and then some. He led a very productive life after that , but had night terrors the rest of his life. He said he never had dreams anymore, he just didn't remember. It may be a terrible thing to say; but I am glad he doesn't have to see what he fought against so hard; communism on American soil.
hugs n prayers ty for your daddy's service rip
sad how they treated them when they came home my brother in law served in Vietnam thankful to n for him.

This was my favorite song at 15 years old. I had suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car wreck, being in a coma for six to eight weeks, my parents who only listened to gospel music played this song over and over on cassette tape until I was awake and in rehab, then I still played it constantly. I still l still listen to it on my phone sometimes as I do think it has substantial meaning for people in the world today ❤️

Poison is the greatest band of the 80s, and that is a bold statement I realize.
Hits harder now than it did back then.
This is my favorite Poison song because of the message in it. Especially when Bret says, "Sometimea I wish I didn't know now, the things I didn't know then" I'm sure we all feel that way sometimes
Absolutely!
Definitely their best song lyrically.

It IS a great line. Bob Seger used it in Against The Wind in 1980.

Just when I think I can’t love Bret Michaels any more (or more than I did when I had a poster of Poison on my wall circa 1988), he goes and adopts a dog, named Bret Michaels, that helped save the life of a kitten, after hearing about the story via a rescue group's social media page and via his sister who lives in the area (apparently).
So far, it appears Mr Michaels has only slightly altered the 6-year-old husky's name to Brett Jr. Thank you so much for adopting a 6-year-old dog and for helping find that very lucky kitten a home, sir! 🥰
Now, please get down here to Australia sometime, please and thank you 😊
Bret Michaels sings this song so beautifully. And with so much passion and soul! The song and video still brings tears to my eyes.

Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of my grandmother. It was the last Thanksgiving that we spent together. She was in the living room, watching TV and I was in my bedroom listening to my poison CD. This song came on and the next thing I know, my grandmother, with her walker, had walked into my room and asked me to play this song again. When the song ended, she said that's a very special song. She asked to hear some other songs, so I played Every Rose Has It's Thorn. She said that's a really good song too. She asked what else do they sing. So I played Unskinny Bop. When that finished, my grandmother said, "Well I guess they have a wide range of talent" and then she walked back out to the living room. It's the last memory I have of my grandmother before she passed away.
You should post this on Poison's FB page. It is a beautiful story, and they will appreciate hearing it. They are great guys who really care about their fans.
Thank you
John Kuhne wow, what a wonderful lifetime memory. Thanks for sharing it.
That hilarious and very special!
Thats awsome. Im sure theres alot of us who just read your story thinking back of a good memory of their grandmother. Couple weeks ago my dad gave me a homemade stool i use to sit on at my grandmothers coffee table to eat my lunch. I watched Gilligan s island and lil rascals on the tv. I took the stool home. Sat it next to my coffee table n got something to eat. As i sat esting my pumpkin pie i started to cry. Just a wow moment. Its been close to 30 years since i last sat on my lil stool at memeres house.
"In a time I don't remember, in a war he can't forget" that line hits like a ton of shit bricks to the nuts everytime I hear it. As a vet myself, I feel the pain in that line so hard.

How can you not become emotional with this tune. Poison was not just about glam. CC's solo was undeniable.
Change "was" to "is" in your comment and I'm with you. They're still rockin' bro!
Exactly.
CC is the soul of this song
His solo from Nothing but a good time is one of the best solos in rock and all his fills are perfect for it. He was always overlooked for the speed guys that were popular back then. I don't even remember him ever getting an interview in a guitar mag.
We need this more then ever, in this time. Love u all my people.

Why is music not made like this anymore? This is amazing!
i wonder too
Ain't enough money for the greedy bastards. There a lot of street musicians who can bring it just don't have multi million dollar companies backing them!
Because it's not music anymore. The record companies go after the money. And now days there's younger people think that rap is music. And I have always said that rap is not music not even close. I really thought green day was going to be the band to save the younger people from that DUMBASS SHIT rap but they just disappeared. I saw green day as really rock and roll they remind me of THE WHO they were that good.
Seems nobody knows how to write music from the heart, it's all about the money machine turning with no heart or soul behind it. Miss the music I grew up with. Feeling, soul, heat, touching millions of people. Good Ole days. Sigh.

Im 49 and still looking for something to believe in. Love this song, gives me hope.
+Shawn Chase I hear ya man. I'm 47 and thought things would have gotten better for me. Hang in there man!
51 and bipolar trying to hang on...
me too, 47 and did not expect to be working harder than ever to establish my place in this wonderful life we all get to appreciate in only few moments it seems at a time.
You believes in Jesus Christ he is YOUR HOPE
Just hit 47 as well and feel the same.
This one of Poison more underrated songs, yet in my humble opinion one of their best.
I think it's their best...
not underrated at all, thats just you!
I think it's their best song.
Akeli
Get your hearing checked
@Akeli look up the verses, there's a lot of personal stuff there. The Vietnam Vet he's singing about is his cousin. The best friend that died was his bodyguard, Kimo.
I was lucky enough to see poison live in London when they did this tour in 1990. Amazing band. Still love them today 💕
I heard the song for the first time years ago and it turned my whole life around I am now 4 years sober and I feel so much better now I'd really like to thank Brett Michael's for writing that song he gave me something to believe in and that's myself,
Still love this song 30 years later in 2020.
It's one of my all time favourite Poison songs 👍🍺
Got the headphones on and volume maxed,, Just listened to Nuttin but a good Time
Yes me too
you know it
:)
Especially now, we all need something to believe in
This song was underrated. This is a song we need right now. I know this song hit #4. Overall Poison was overlooked because their were so many 80's rock bands.
Share it.
@@MalibuGlassMI I did
this whole album was really good IMO
So correct vickie god bless you✌✌✌✌
I played this at my sister's funeral she was murdered and homeless so they didn't care
Kids nowadays dont know what good music is . Im glad i grew up with rock en roll wasrockenroll
I am 57, and an anti hair-metal band fella. I loved this song in the 80's, and I would always listen to it just before going on a journey. This still gets me in a very deep and potent way. Maybe more. First hearing since the 80's. Wow ! tears are flowing
For a WAR he could Never Forget, Korean War 1951 was burned into my dads mind until the day he died. God bless you Dad. You are at PEACE Now.
My Dad too... A real Man to be proud of. He never weakened. Loved his country, family unity, the bravest man... I miss him
Yes, My dad has a photo album that no one is allowed to see nor will he talk about. He told me it holds his memory of people that he served with, cared about and still miss....I remember how surprising how young everyone was...Dad too. Dad just turned 92....he still remembers like it was yesterday.
Wow dude that sad , im really sorry about that.must been hard for you .
My grandpa was In Korea. He was a specialist. Whenever you would ask about his time in the service. He never talked about it but then you could see his eyes go somewhere else in life. Him and God only know what he did over there.
My dad was over there and I miss him very much he really talked much about except he lost some friens
I had forgotten this song. An excellent way to put life on lifes terms., From Jim Baker and his mess, to the vets from Nam that our country didn't want back. My heart beaks to see the homeless, as I have been there before. There IS someone to believe in, but we , being human , make choices. All have consequences, both good and bad. I am glad this song helped me to remember where I've been and where I want to be. Thank you for the upload.
...theres times I wish I didn't know now, the things I didn't know then...
so very true!
anyone have a time machine?! wanna go back to New Years Eve '77!
I hear ya. How about Aug. 5th 1978. My one and only wedding day. Addiction ruined my marriage and many other things and by the time I had enough, I had already experienced just about anything you can think of. Back to those consequences.:)
Gonna reach out & tap you on the shoulder via email. Hope today's being good to you!
I know you from the song Shooting star
Josh Armoogam OH! thanks for letting me know you had read that. All the best to you , my utube friend.

i worked in a Vietnam veterans homeless shelter for a little while. what those boys told me will forever stay with me. I do remember one day one of the men who i really took a liking to was in his room with about 5 or 7 other men listening to this song. I remember he looked at me after the song was over and he said to me. God lord he wasn't even in the war and he knows better then anybody what we are going through. I will never forget that.
