- The Laugo Alien is an amazing, unique, fantastic, incredibly capable handgun with excellent design features that costs....$5000.
We get to do some live fire, tear it down and discuss it in this video.

Man, if it was $4,999.95 I would be all over it.
Price is firm. They know what they got.

If you buy one in the next 15 minutes they'll send you a second pistol completely free! That's $10,000 of value for just $5000 thanks to this exclusive InRangeTV offer!
I'll loan you $0.05 if you let me shoot it!
I’d pay maybe 699.95 for it. I could give 0 shits about it at $5,000
You guys really do cover the best innovation at Shot Show every year. Hands down the best channel for it.
While I don't disagree, other channels have covered this pistol as well.
Jon Long I agree and they don’t waste my time on the less interesting and less innovative items that most channels cover.
@@Murphy82nd Other channels HAVE covered it, but MOST simply buy the hype and ignore the fact that it's stupid expensive. InRange is one of the very few that will say "Yeah, it's cool. Yes, it works. No, you don't need one at $5,000 (repeat, $5,000)."
@@Murphy82nd yeah but the other channels didn't make WWSD (⌐■_■)
Don't forget about the shitposting on products that do not need to exist
Constantly flashing "$5000 USD" is hilarious; if you had superimposed Home Shopping Network graphics onto the screen I would have fallen off my chair. I do get the sense that this pistol may become a fixture on InRange in the future following exposure at SHOT a la the Hudson H9 and MDR...
epl803 - only the first 500 of these pistols cost 5 grand. The guns with serial number above 500 will be priced lower. How low? It's not mentioned yet. But, it's a neat concept I would say
Buy now for 5000 and get everything in the box.
@@chrisspencer6502 "But wait....there's more!"
@VA BEAR - so not much of a difference then. Let's hope the price would be lower. Honestly speaking, this whole signature edition sound like a videogame

that magdump by Karl was pretty ludicrous.

The Machine that goes Ping.
Nothing but hit markers
Was that 25 yards do you think?
I guess a pistol like this wouldn't be outrageously overpriced for some professional IPSC competitor, which is probably their market.
Yea that's a weeks worth of ammo.
That actually makes sense (the IPSC shooters market part) since "alien" is a term commonly used to describe somebody with remarkable proficiency in a sport or game that requires speed, precision, and accuracy. The term originates in sim racing circles (I believe) to describe a driver who can drive a perfect lap and then some.
Compared to a custom 2011 for standard or open, the price isn’t too bad.
In Australia, I know a bloke who I think is in B grade, who spent the equivalent of 8,500 USD on an open gun. AND it took two years to build.
I heard some rumours laugo was trying to get production optics approved? But someone pointed out that requires a SLIDE mounted optic
I agree, from a price point perspective but their is still a problem. Optic is not slide mounted, so it's not a carry optics gun (the division which is essentially open for poor people - and this gun isn't for poors). And it's not really able to compete with 2011s for Open division. So what's left? Limited maybe, but 2011s still rule the world there too.
Thomas A they are actively designing a version that mounts the optic to the slide. It’s a shame because not having the optic move is one of its great design features. They have to deliberately make it worse to make it competition legal. How ass backwards is that?
Everything is expensive when it first comes out; give it 10 years and we’ll all have Taurus gas operated handguns
Its not the action that makes this pistol expensive. As mentioned in the video gas delayed pitols have been around for some time in both the HK P7 and the Steyr GB. The high price is probably down to low volume of production and high levels of craftsmanship. However this pistol has potential and I'd like to see a more pedestrian execution of the design in the future.
Says everyone still waiting to buy an fn 5.7
Or they'll be out of business because everybody waited 10 years to buy one, you know, one or the other. I hope you're right though. That would be nice.

Paging PSA’s clone lab . . . 😄
Yes!!!!!! Freedom Clone Labs
They been busy this year, maybe we can get this next year hahahaha
Next year they'll release the PSA Predator $700 copy!
Let's hope!! Then we'll see wave of morons shouting "It's Junk!" because they overpaid lol.
They'll announce it, hype it, delay it, hype it more, delay it again, and it'll eventually become vaporware like the PSA-5 that's been "coming out no later than the end of this year" for three years. That being said, if they surprise us all and actually make them, I'll take two.
I have to admit that it's an impressive piece of design and looks well executed. Let's applaud them for the innovation.
I’m excited for this technology to be integrated into affordable firearms, not just $5k race guns.
I'll give Hi-Point a year, and Kel-Tec two, to pop out funnies of it.
The “standard” version won’t be $5000. At the end of the year they will sell just the gun with probably 3 mags for much less. Maybe around $3000 I’d bet. Still very expensive but not so bad for serious competitive shooters.
If it does hahaha
That won't happen because this can't be integrated into a $500 pistol and the improvement is not worth it for "affordable firearms". This isn't a case of now everyone has smartphones. This is overly complex technology for boutique firearms.
Karl: "wow delayed gas blowback is for real"
HK: "leck mich I'm arsch"
It's "Leck mich im Arsch", but I do appreciate the Mozart reference.
H&K didn't invent gas delayed blowback by the by, that was Kurt Horn with the Grossfuss Sturmgewehr when working for the Großfuß factory.
@@nextlifeonearth they probably typed this on a phone, it would auto correct.
I was falling in luv with the Alien.... and then yall mentioned the price... holy moly... it looks nice but not that nice ;)
R&D costs alot
They are building them as a competition gun so course they do have competition prices 5 Grand is kind of where most people expect this type of gun to be sadly it's Out Of Reach for the average shooter
@Stefano Dawg it's a competition gun if its not for you then why buy it and if your mom is controlling your finances you shouldn't be buying any firearms period they are not toys for your amusement
Paul Davies I’m pretty sure he’s making a joke.
Paul Davies LOL, Who lets they’re mom tell them what to spend money on? I would get one of these pistols tho but my dad almost kicked me out when I bought a golden Desert Eagle last month 😔
Best of luck to the manufacturer in getting the costs down somewhere reasonable! :- )

@@foleymaj Yeah I noticed that after posting
For a moment I thought the slide was clipping through your hands. Seriously, what a cool scifi, video game gun.
@@Halal_Dan whats the problem here?
@@coolsenjoyer clipping is a video game/video effects term which refers to when an object goes through another and it was clearly what was being refered to.
he isnt calling a magazine a clip, besides you would know a clip is a real widely used thing if you were a "true gun fan" ex: stripper/en-bloc/moon clips to load internal/external magazines or revolver cilinders.
DirtyDan clipping, not a clip. Clipping is a computer 3D design thing where two objects go through each other.

Looks fantastic! Let me know when someone releases a similar product with the cost reduced by 75-80%
I like the hammer design. Interesting idea!
Watching Ian's content for years clearly gave me a taste for peculiarities. The moment I saw that top-mounted hammer, I audibly squealed with joy.
Also, didn't realize the manufacturers were Czech until you mentioned. I sometimes drive around the gunshop where the company is based and never thought anything of it :D Since those are the guys behind the Scorpion EVO, its hardly a surprise that the gun runs great. The only odd thing is, I can't figure out where they manufacture...
Definitely looks cool. Looks like something from Cyberpunk 2077.
"we want to sell more of them. for $5,000" 😂😂😂 love you guys
That looks like a super nice gun to shoot, but I can't drop 5k on one.
When this thing was taken apart I was very very interested, would like some more video when not in the range of possible, looks cool
Edit, to those who keep saying "this cost more than a Cabot or a Wilson Combat", please remember the 1911 has been around for over 100 years and not much has changed, this is a much more radical and modern day development of a handgun vs the same old song and dance
Ian dressed as a French special agent from a spy movie, tres bon!
The designers at Laugo developed and sold the Scorpion Evo design to CZ, hopefully the same might happen with this pistol.
Well, Laugo's Scorpion was also roller-delayed, so it was nicer, more complicated, and more expensive than CZ's final Scorpion. I'd be afraid that selling the Alien would lead to a similar outcome.
@@0dayExploit The scorpion is always the same mechanically, the biggest changes took place on the frame, what is just a piece of cheap plastic ...
@@ryanpeck3377 I do not know where it comes from exactly that it takes to believe that a large company must necessarily be cheaper
Dominik Vranka
It is because larger companies are fully established with all the tools and supply chains available. This means fixed setup costs are not passed on to the consumer. Then you have economy of scale, the more you pump out the cheaper each unit is. Hence the overall costs should dramatically decrease.
It was great to talk to you about this pistol at Shot even cooler to see the footage.
Great video! One of the neat things of this pistol is the top strap, which they have two models, one with iron sights and one with the optic, making very convenient to switch, without having to switch the whole slide
Man, I don't think I would spend $5k on a rifle, let alone a handgun!
Maybe the FG-42.... yeah, no, I really want that reproduction gun.
Mr. Mixy I have a couple Firearms riding on the $5000+/- Line, it's really not hard to get there with Optics, etc. Sako TRG-42 w/ custom Mount & Tract Torric Scope, Atlas Bipod, Terminator Brake...Sig 716 DMR, B&T TP9, Daniel Defense MK18 w/ Trijicon ACOG + RMR, Savage LE TR10 in Cadex Chassis w/ Area 419 Goodies........A Handgun though? @None of your Business 337 I'm saying I couldn't muster the 5k to buy it in the first place, lol. Even if some windfall of money came my way, I have some other things I should spend it on before considering it as fun money!

This is the kind of 2020 I need.
You guys are awesome. Thank you for all you do.
As Carl said, the Alien's innovations will eventually be appropriated by the larger scale manufactures. Then we'll have something similar at a reasonable price. What's cool is how much will the Alien affect the pistol industries designs in the years to come.
Thanks for the tear down and explanation. Quite an innovative package. The slide setup reminds me of the S&W 41. Sadly well out of my comfort zone, price wise.
it was also kind of Laugo to let them do a tear down

What a lovely piece of design!
07:04 remember the Beretta Neos? 22 pistol/carbine with a fixed top rail, the slide is similar in that the top and bottom are open. the sights/optic do not move.
So, has this pistol managed to achieve the level of innovation and improved performance that the Hudson 9 was aiming for?
_Five grand?_
Ouch.
Some people suggested it's for competition shooting so I suppose it's for a more smaller niche?
@@ArcturusOTE it is, but I feel like this would be reeeeeally good for normal use too, pricing aside
Yeah, I was wondering about how ti stacked up against the H9. Ian and Karl seemed a little more effusive in their praise than they were of the Hudson (though they did like the Hudson a lot). But given that this is 4x the price of a Hudson it damn well better do a little more.
Now to see if it goes the same way as the H9.
More vids on This gun plz!!! Tests reviews, mud test and every thing!! Plz!!! man i love your work. god bless you!
Man, this is an interesting piece of innovation. I really wish them well, and as long as their quality control is good, and they don't do anything really dumb, I think they have a good market. It looks like it will really make for a good competition gun.
"It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up." - Karl, SHOTShow 2020.

Anyway, I'm glad to see you guys shoot the Alien, I've had my eye on it since it first came out. It would be interesting to see it in other calibers...
Man, Czech's always coming out with the awesome firearm czechnology
Wow you both shot sooo much quicker than you normally do. The follow up shots is what convinced me this is serious.
How low is the recoil really, could this thing finally be a pistol platform that could implement useful burst fire?
Probably could, yes.
I believe that gun in 5.7mm and with a muzzle break could have zero felt recoil.
Alright, that is awesome. Definitely unique and it looks like it's a nice shooter. Would love to have one for the range.
I'm guessing 9mm? Bloody Impressive! And the reactions from you both were just like 'Wow that's something special'
Very cool
I got my alien about 3 months ago and I have to say I won't give the pistol back! I have several very good pistols e.g. the Sig Sauer X-6 Supermatch and the Alien is at least on the same level, if not slightly above it. The technical properties are really very good, the heat development is slightly more than with the Sig Sauer and not really a problem. The Alien is delivered with a trigger weight of approx. 1.5 kg and since the spring and hammer are in the exchangeable upper rail, you cannot change this yourself. I ordered 2 upper rails with a pull-off weight of 1.0 kg. Now the already good print is perfect. I am really happy with the gun !!!
Greetings DUDE
This little beauty and the HK p7 are straight up the best sidearms you could carry today
Lol good call putting the price at the end cause I saw it and have since tuned out completely
I don't believe they're individually hand-fitted, the focus seems to be on maintaining extremely consistent manufacturing tolerances. In another video I watched the rep mentioned that top straps can be swapped out, different straps for one gun or one strap between different guns, and it'll supposedly hold zero in both situations, something I don't think would be possible if the guns were hand-fitted.
Cool design indeed!
Damn, they really are from Trenčín! Town I was born in. I am actually proud on something my country did! Except the 5k price tag...
They should be proud of the 5k tag. How many people can outsell a 5k gun easily

Omg! Actual innovation at Shot show
The US market let the HUDSON H9 die...
@@axp8598 but didnt they also have a bunch of quality control issues and still had customers guns when they shut down?
For half the price, 2500, they still can keep the quality and i believe it would sell very well. There is a lot of very deserved hype behind it.
Ian's new channel "can't afford to get em" weapons
Karl was scary with the dot. That was amazing shot to shot recovery.
someone needs to take this design and make a duty/carry version! I'm so curious how this will function in the elements
Love to have this one on the bench
It’s built extremely similar to the S&W 422/622 line of rimfires. (My favorite .22 pistol) Low Bore axis at the bottom of the slide, minimized reciprocating mass. I’m super intrigued.
Ok seeing Karl doing it is outright spooky, imagine him doing it after getting more training
That price tag alone made it a future Forgotten Weapons candidate.
I saw a video comparing recoil with this and the shadow 2. The difference was so minuscule it was almost unnoticeable.
The hudson kind of kicked it off and the alien seems to have refined the concept. This is 100% the future of handgun design.
Ian and Karl is my favorite friendship ever
PSA you’re up!
This is the most innovative thing I've seen by far this year and I really would love to have one. Too bad it's not 4.5 grand better than my P10C but maybe some day when I have more "FU" money.
I really like it. I like the idea of a small manufacturer of high quality novel guns. The price is high but it is not out of reach for a regular person who really wants one. I reckon this is one of those guns were if you really want it but don't like the price you should buy it straight away. You will save money from all the guns you would have bought to scratch the itch by buying it now.
This is the coolest thing ever
A lot of us are talking about this gun. The amount of innovation in its design is well deserving of respect. Unfortunately, the price makes it unaffordable for most of us.
Reps must love when a man with a funny hat walks up to the stand and says. I'm Ian tell me about your wares.
I always thought it would be a good idea to flip the gas piston in the P7/CCP to be on the top instead. Even lower bore axis and less of a hot trigger guard issue after firing a lot.
Style and substance. I dig it. I get the price tag. Hopefully this design is successful. That would lead to far more affordable variants.
Another bonus this gun has over the BRNO is the fact that it uses an extremely ubiquitous round.
Any problems with it getting hot? My p7 only goes a couple of mags in the summer before I need to let it cool. Great winter gun, built in hand warmers.
That's crazy, and the price too 🤣
Oh my hell. I am in LOVE
Finally potential most superior optics mounting platform. Non reciprocating top means a flattop pic rail and no more dumb loctite set screws into slide.
I feel like this gun demands to be in a action movie.
The Walther CCP has a similar looking gas delayed piston system albeit in a more conventional layout. I find it to be very soft shooting which is exactly what Walther intended for this midsize 9 mm pistol.
Seriously though: this is the pistol, or at least the sight mounting style, I've been looking for ever since you guys started sharing the benefits of red dots. (Now for the price to drop 80% or more)
Any thoughts on the safety problems with a light single action trigger and no thumb or grip safety? It's got the glock style trigger lever but that's all. I'm not sure about a 2# "Glock" trigger in any application other than range fun or competition.
The price is certainly out of this world.
Its small company here in Czech Republic, just a few people working on them and its not even close to any possible larger scale production. Even the price is high, there is waiting list for it and demand is much larger than production. Its like... buying a Ferrari of firearms market. :)
what if they did an aluminum slide and steel frame? Thought the reduced weight on the top and increased weight on the bottom should help with control
Yes! Now a threaded barrel would make this one of the best suppressor host!
I love it
Nice gun and concept. Only problem is the ridiculous price. Good Luck
I hope some day we can look back on this as an ancestor of the new standard. Obviously $5000 is too much for the common people, but maybe some of our grandchildren will own the glock equivalent of this.
Taurus?
Ruger?
Hi-Point?
Diamond Back?
our grandchildren will have the glock equivalent of this in full-dive VR games because guns will be outlawed by then.
This system is way too fussy for genpop, imagine how badly it would fail the mud test. Oh wait...
