    Being cryptic is annoying but also amusing, the struggle between sincerity and insincerity- both well illustrated by the character "Discord" from My Little Pony.

    Hey Chase!
    The Control vs Progression battleground has been so stark in my life. As an ENFP with ESTJ and ESTP parents, I often found myself changing habits, hobbies, interests, goals, my appearance and my room and basically anything I could change, especially once I was left only living with my ESTJ mom and ISTJ stepdad. Partially this is because I wasn't aware of my Starter Type traits (or my personality for that matter) and general lack of maturity when it comes to seeing things through, but partially I think I felt that I had to rebel and change things for the sake of freedom and life itself. And boy oh boy did that not fly with my mom.
    Now I know better and have some things I help make predictable for my mom (like cleaning the house every week and asking for criticism so that I can avoid it in the future since Se critic triggers me), but other things like returning home at unpredictable times I have negotiated with her so we avoid conflict.
    It has however taken years of consuming your content and learning from my INFJ in my life, to get to a point where me and my mom haven't screamed at each other for over a year.
    Random informative rant out of the way, thank you for making all this knowledge accessible. For years I described myself as a caged animal because of how it felt to be 'controlled', but through truth and patience I no longer feel that way, and I think my mom is way more at peace with me as well. So yeah, thank you.

    As an ESFP i usually tend to play or relax before doing some work like binge on tv series or going out with my friends and then coming home to do homework. Like i’m litterally at midnight sending my architecture designs to my teachers(that look good but could be better) or memorizing at 11 p.m English essays. There are times when i actually finish what i start and put a lot of heart into it if i’m really interested in what i’m doing but if i’m not I’ll just do something at my homework to look like i did something

      Ne/Ti is focused on concepts, ideas and what makes sense in that moment and Se/Fi is focused on how the world makes them feel and their surroundings and the emotional and sensory response are more important than any ideas or concepts about their surroundings or complex internal logic.
      CS here is barely processing his sensory information unless it distracts his Ne with something very strange and important, he's just using motion and changing environment to spark his body and also do a walk while doing a task. ENTPs hate doing walks for no reason by themselves with no stimulation of their choice, because the sensory bores them without something to learn or process at all times. My ENTP friend is the biggest headphone wearer i know

    When you say that the starter types don’t care about finishing, do you think that ESFJ can be somewhat of an exception to this? My husband who is an ESFJ is a very good starter, but he’s also a very good finisher. Before starting a project, he will gather up enormous amounts of information which he will then proceed to smother you with while simultaneously bombarding you with questions of execution which my INFP brain has no interest in. Not that I don’t appreciate it, because frankly without his initiative, nothing would get done!

    Thank you for the ADD comment. I was told I had ADD when I was young because I saw a bird fly past the window and it caught my eye. Luckily my mother believed not medication, but discipline. I know I wasn’t that bad, and I had to convince everyone I can concentrate and do things I need. I never felt like it was out of control or that I couldn’t help myself with my attention, but the ADD label blew up at the time and I feel like I was caught in cross fire. I hope the stigma and ADD standards change with your help. Thanks again

      They tried to diagnose you based on that? That's crazy cakes!
      I really do have it. My psychiatrist used my long personal history of it and a lot of questions to diagnose me. The process of diagnosing ADHD is supposed to be comprehensive.
      Hugs to you for having to go through that.

      I got a similar story, I was diagnosed with aspergers syndrome, for reference I'm an INTP, so I didn't know exactly how people would react because of Se trickster, then Te nemesis says that those idiots will misinterpret what you're saying, which threatens Fe inferior which therefore makes Si child uncomfortable, then of course Ne parent and Ti hero work together to solve the problem while Ni critic is watching very closely, then Fi demon gets up from it's nap because it knows that this has a good chance of turning into an argument where it can be released

    • @9SMTM6
      @9SMTM6 4 роки тому

      Uhm gotta say though, not being able to sit still is explicitly NOT a sign of ADD but at most of ADHD.
      I've been diagnosed with ADD, I'm an INTP. And I've been prescribed medication after some tests, and I've got to say in my case it really helped, and it still does.
      The medication definitely has personality-changing abilities (I'm not sure which way it does this, not sure if that's even describable as one of the 4 sides of an INTP. I have higher physical awareness so it COULD be Subconscious? But I'll keep my logic? Also became suddenly pretty good at foreign languages, turned out I had the vocabulary saved but couldn't access it), but I do have problems focusing at times, and the medication does help with that, however it might do that.
      And in some aspects the medication has shown me a way that I could later follow without medication. INTPs do usually have problems fitting in, in my case I could finally focus enough on the moment in social situations, which allowed me to find out how to get along with other people, and I can do this without medication now.
      In that way yeah, its likely that certain personalities, like mine, will get diagnosed with certain aspects more often, and that better fitting in might have been possible with just knowledge of socionics, but essentially what I'm trying to say here is that the treatment of ADD and ADHD in our society isn't necessarily always wrong. There's room for improvement but it's not fundamentally wrong. Oh and movement types should not get diagnosed with ADD but at most ADHD.
      I'm living in Germany though, so I'm not fully aware of how treatment and diagnosis is different between our countries. Most ADD/ADHD medication here falls under 'only on prescription' and the tests at least I was subject to include intelligence tests amongst others (though that's not highly standardized as far as I'm aware).

      Nah mate no worries!! I've learnt so much even in such a short time. For example I think I either Fe'd or Es'd your need for Fi encouragement via my own Fi in conjunction with my Si (I think) and that encouragement is I think what perhaps your blindspot Fi required. To feel good about the Truth content you are sharing which is defs making an impact. One thing I wanted to share which I hope doesnt make you feel too bad (although as you say you are blind to your Fi) is that Truth spoken without love can be but a clashing cymbal (1Cor13) and I get you show your love by speaking the truth directly and not being concerned with the Fi of those who hear it, and those Fi users who are strong enough and mature enough to not recoil and get offended hear your message and benefit (eg :me!! ^^).. But just wanted to say, those that probably need to hear your message the most are the immature under developed Fi users, and they need to hear it because what you're saying is just the most awesome and useful stuff!! Yet to them it may just come across as clanging gongs, and as you said earlier in one of your other vids: its wise to match your audience. I say this knowing that you'll understand and not feel bad for thia critique, because I truly mean for it to be constructive!!
      Much love and thanks and respect! From a massive fan!! Go hard man you are making an impact!!!

      Yeah just another random thought that i was having from watching your videos about accessing the other sides of your mind.. how you were saying there were gateways into the othersides.. just a random thought i was having, is perhaps the 'trickster' slot is the way to exercise every type that is not your own, perhaps a way (although impossible to acess the parent child or inferior of the other slots) that the next level of development may allow you to momentarily (kind of like a limit break or a bankai if youve watched bleach.. or as you said the next gate down via Gai and rock lees way) to access, harness and use every single other function in ones own hero slot (if you can harness your trickster, then it should be possible to harnass every other) but they only way that this is possible to via Love!! Love seems to be the way to ascend and step beyond the boundary of trickster and therefore avoid descending to demon mode.. or in another sense, perhaps via love one can overcome trickster and ascend to the Holy!(or Holy Mode hurhur) But this is only possible by the Love of YHWH working upon your life, and consequentlially loving others as you love yourself!!!
      I would love to get your thoughts on this, as this was just momentary random thought that occured to me and passed by my mind, and I havent had the time and I dont have the breadth and depth of knowledge to reference and consider the validity of this idea. Peace and love once again

    A mature ISFP could easily be seen by others as a starter type, like an ESFP. In fact, I have just taken the Jung Personality test, after completing Myers Briggs 3 times in my life, getting ISFP as a result. For the 1st time I got different answers: ENFJ or ESFP, which I don't really think is accurate. But anyway, it is just a thought.

    Do you think that Ernest Shackelton, the 1908 polar expeditioner, was a Starter? His strength of character is admired by historians as being the reason why he succeeded in bringing a crew of 28 home to safety in the face of hardship. First, he initiated the voyage, raising money for it, persuading investors to believe in him, getting the crew and equipment ready for the voyage. But the most amazing thing about him was when the ship got stuck in the ice, he brought every single one of his crew home to safety. This might have occurred because movement and progress were his goals, not milestones; his flexible personality was a stroke of luck for the mariners. Famous for being a genius at instilling hope into the mind of the most discouraged man, his ability to be content with progress rather than with milestones is perhaps what historians recognize as being unique about this man. Shackelton was okay with the chaos, if you will, of being uncertain of their goal, yet instilling hope, while initiating new strategies for survival at every turn, and he prevailed in the face of hopelessness. I've long recognized my ESFJ sister as a Shackelton, a reindeer navigator, exciting expeditioner, who also leaves her millions of half-started projects everywhere around the house....

    In the video about Structure/In Charge types, you commented about ESTP who are the only Ps in that group. I missed hearing you talking about the ESFJs being the only J of the Starters. Primarily because they look like control freaks to me, an INTP... well, the whole control vs movement is still very strange to me... My ESFJ ex wife always seemed to me to have a high need for closure, so it’s so strange to think she is a Starter...

    3:54 hmm this is a little confusing for me. Socially I usually end up having people approach me (passive), but I don't like it when people approach me too frequently, and I prefer to go to them when I need something or want to know something from them. Other times, I appreciate it when people approach me, such as in a work setting when someone tells me the objectives for the day, because I like having a pre-set agenda. If I recognize their leadership, I will fully follow their agenda to the T. In the absence of an agenda, I set one myself. But I find that when I do so, it often conflicts with what they want, so I'd prefer them to just tell me what they want from me to begin with, hence putting me in the more receiving role.

You mentioned here that movement types often gets diagnosed with ADHD even though they're not, but I have seen countless times that it's the ESTP that's often labled the ADHD personality. This is however goes against their interaction style which is control. I'm curious to see if you have any thoughts or commentaries on this as the contradictions are causing a bit of confusion for me. Is this a starter thing(i think im an ENTP but im also questioning INTJ) im tehnically a perfectionist and care about the quality I’ll put a lot of energy and effort into the beginning of a project like a lot and it get me to work extremely slow bcuz i wanna be the best version of myself and two days before the deadline i realise im actually very behind with that project and i have two options either rush to finish or simply hand it in in the next exam session(u can hand it in the next exam session which is usually a month after). And i choose to rush it through the end bcuz at least im done with it and im always aware there’s always room for improvement bcuz even if i was left another month to do it I’ll probably find 10 other things that could be better which will cause me to finish late bcuz i‘ll just keep on working on every single small detail until it’s perfect

    Hi! At this point I'm binge watching your videos.
    You say we can identify extroverts by the fact that they initiate. So when an introvert initiates means they are in their subconscious or maybe shadow part of the mind?

    Just found your Channel. After watching your video "How to Personality Type anyone", I'm confident I'm an ENTP type. I know the arrogant part of me wanted to be an "Intellectual" type, as that's how I've always seen myself, as superior than others. However, watching your video on ENTP's gave a name and meaning to so much of myself that I've never been able to explain.
    So, Thank you for helping me discover this!
    My question is: If I wanted to learn this science from the ground up, apart from your videos (I will watch them all :D ), where should I begin my research?

    I can't tell if I'm informative or direct. I've been accused of using "big words" but I've never been called "windy" or "cryptic." I think I tend to get straight to the point where business is concerned, but I like to have fun with words. I'm an aspiring linguist, so I don't know if that might curb the data?

    This is the first I've seen of this dynamic as it relates to typology of others. When I first saw the title of this video (before clicking on it), I first thought I was going to be watching something about the 4 "relationship" interaction styles I'd heard about: Builder, Director, Negotiator, & Explorer.
    So, now that I've watched it, I have an E vs I ? I'd like to "respond" with. (Pardon my penchant for puns...and, apparently, alliteration before asking.) How much of a correlation is there between the initiating vs responding interaction preference and Isabel Myers's definition of how/"where" people get/recharge their "energy" (or lose/have it drained)? Or is that all part of--or a side effect of--the initiating vs responding style as well? Seems to me like extroverts would naturally get more energy (or at least avoid natural "insecurities" from what I'm hearing you explain) from initiating w/ others, whereas the converse, regarding conversations, would likely be true for introverts?
    Also, I loved how you mentioned your observation of how often young children in schools are misdiagnosed with allegedly having ADD or ADHD & immediately getting sent by the Institute of Education to another Institute (the Medical one) to get prescribed Ritalin (& pad the Pharma Institute w/ more $$$ & lobbying power)...just b/c they're high "movement" types who're likely misunderstood by likely high [SJ, as you put it] control types who worry &/or see it as a problem--to the point of it being a "disease"--& don't really WANT to try to understand the other side of something very different than them. (I'm probably more control than movement, myself; though my past relationships have been described to me by others as me being like a very stable, slow-moving proverbial eye-of-the-storm as all kinds of chaos eventually & inevitably routinely "whirlwinds" all around me, if that makes any kind of sense.) Anyway, I'd read from a couple of different sources a couple of years or so ago that roughly 90% of children in the U.S. diagnosed with deficit disorders were later found to be incorrectly diagnosed once those same children were out of school. Not exactly sure HOW true that is, or how that %age was later determined by research studies, but that is rather grossly alarming to say the least. What do you think?

    • @CSJoseph
      @CSJoseph  6 років тому

      You are correct, there is a correlation in energy lost and gained via initiating and responding. Furthermore, the third highest cause of death in the USA is medical malpractice. So if it is that bad at that level, then misdiagnosing children would also have to correlate. Thats my two cents.

    Hey so ik this is an older video but you mentioned that ppl who’re movement (me I spose, as I think I’m an esfj) can be misdiagnosed as add or adhd. Ik a lot of ppl who have been technically diagnosed with either one. So ig my question is, what methods should parents or teachers use to help teach or grow movement type children? Because sitting at a desk for 45 mins per class for 7 hrs may not be the most effective way to teach someone who’s like that. Ik it wasn’t for me.

    I can't help but say this to every blunt type so, well, tag, you're it! But seriously, how you say the truth is usually what people have a problem with, not the actual truth itself. It's more the attitude of the delivery that makes people upset, and open disregard for feelings. It's extremely ineffective, too. It's kind of ironic, if you think about it, because by pointing out a flaw without using tact, you're actually showing your own flaws in being tactless. Most T-types I come into contact with don't see this as a flaw, but I've seen it destroy relationships. To be honest I was put off by the first video I saw of yours because you have a tendency to start to mock the type you're discussing. It may be true, but the delivery comes off as condescending and doesn't really encourage people to listen. Since this is the point of your videos, it might be worth considering. That being said, the information you're providing just doesn't seem to be discussed so in depth elsewhere, so I'm willing to overlook that.

    What is the “informing” meaning for you?

    • @CSJoseph
      @CSJoseph  6 років тому +6

      Fayt Wind , being informative is a contrast to being direct. Direct is basically getting straight to the point, it’s like the path of least resistance and the desire to be efficient and use as few words as possible to interact and communicate.
      Being informative is the opposite behavior. Many words to convey a point because an informative person values having as much information as possible and thusly believe they would need to give as much information as possible in order to convey a point lest their audience not understand them. We like to be informed and we like to inform. Also, being informative is context based. The meaning of what I say changes as the underlying context of what I am saying changes. The problem is not everyone is aware of the extra context so it can lead to confusion. I hope this answers your question.
