Life As Allen
United States
Приєднався 13 сер 2024
What could someone born in the early '60s, with a wife, three kids, and a cat named Koko, possibly have to say on UA-cam? I’m not sure either, but you’re welcome to join me to find out.
I’ve spent almost 40 years as a TV news and sports videographer/editor and now create videos for a large school system here in Texas. I’ve had the opportunity to travel across the country and the world, and now I want to share my knowledge and experiences here on UA-cam. Most of all, I want to keep the channel fun with a lot of experimentation as I carve out my place on this platform.

Entering 2025 With 1000 Subscribers!
Well, I did it! I reached the magical milestone of 1000 subscribers a couple of weeks ago. It took me 117 days and 17 videos, but I did it! Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to watch, comment and subscribe to my channel. I appreciate anyone who has taken a little time out of their day to do so. I'm wishing each of you a great 2025. Happy New Year!

@@skillvault-t3h thank you
Happy New Year and congratulations on achieving 1000+ subscribers. I really like your relaxed and genuine style. I’m still below 500 but am not going to change the way I do things. Hopefully people will catch on - eventually 😀
I think that's the best way to do it. I don't see myself ever becoming big enough where I would start making a ton of money, so I'm just going to continue to have fun and do it at my own pace. Beset of luck with you channel as well!
Hi Allen. Congratulations on this. I'm looking at starting my own channel, and I'm older than you so I'm glad to see a few 'older' (let's say over 40's) contributors starting out now. Two questions - 1. Do you need permission to use other people's videos? Everyone does it and it makes sense (and I'd like to do the same) but I'm not sure what the etiquette is. 2. I think you're finding your 'niche' (love that word, although we pronounce it differently) and finding mine is my biggest headache. Much of UA-cam consists of people teaching people...things (I found you by watching Virginia Kerr). Do you think you have to take that route (teaching video production) or are you finding a different way? I don't want to simply make videos called, 'Top Ten Tips.' I hope you keep up the good work and stay motivated.
Thanks for the comments. Technically, I don't believe you need permission, but I thought it would be a better idea if I did to avoid any possible drama. I think I'll continue to do some UA-cam related videos here and there, but I'm planning on doing a lot of other things. It will probably slow my growth, but we'll see. As I mentioned in some of my videos, this will be my hobby once I'm able to reach retirement and I can concentrate on it a little more. Thanks again and good luck with whatever you decide to do!
Congratulations!!!👍
Thanks!
I noticed two cameras, did you all have additional coverage? What did you mostly capture on your angle?
We had a total of 5 cameras. I was the main camera used to show the total game coverage.
@@LifeAsAllen Right on. I’ve done live coverage a couple of times and know that cameras are assigned to cover different things. Thus I was curious what was your coverage.
@bairstories The two I showed, mine and the other guy, were both used as main camera depending on which half of the field the teams were on. When not game cam I would shoot tighter shots.
Vlog secure hahaha. Your humor is funny. On a serious note, legacy makes me think of storage. Will UA-cam one day no longer exists? What’s the effect of data storage on the environmental? Do you have any thoughts on this topic?
I've wondered about that as well, but I'm guessing it will stay around.
Good job storytelling here, Allen. I specifically like the start and concept of this video.
Thank you.
New sub…As a 35 y/o, I’m here for the journey. I think it’d be cool to learn my elders here on the UA-cam platform.

Congrats Allen!! I'm hoping to join you soon in the 1000+ subs club haha. 😀 2025 for me is to keep posting consistently and growing on UA-cam.
@fitnessoverfifty-suncoastfit with your niche you should do very well. Good luck in 2025!
Thank Youl I am assuming you may have preplanned your b roll segments and shoot them in your filming day.. then integrate them... I find my self editing and then thinking about what b roll i may wan to add... Thanks again...
I don't pre plan as much as I probably should, which can make the process slower.

Congratulations on 1000 subs Allen! Keep it rollin'!!
@RobtheMaritimer Thanks Rob!
Another great video Allen. Loved the dialogue whilst doing something a ordinary as picking up a pizza. Huge congrats on reaching 1000 subscribers. In essence that means that 1000 people think what you are doing is worth watching. I also have the Osmo Pocket 3 and pretty much all my videos are recorded on it, so would love to hear your thoughts and perspectives. Keep doing what you are doing. Its working and people love it
@@TheCarnivorePensioner It's a great little camera for sure. Thanks for watching.
I have a DJI Osmo Pocket 2 combo creator set. The only downside is the small screen. So I would be interested in your thoughts on the Pocket 3. Plus, how to shoot and add B-roll.
Let's gooo Allen, congrats and well done. You got there pretty quickly in my view :D Just goes to show that you're a great story-teller and always bring high production value. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Ty...I appreciate your support.

Congratulations!! What a way to start the year! Also in the 60+ creator club - I've been watching since you started. I still haven't hit 1000 subs yet heh.. but I know I will. My goal for 2025 is to get both my channels @fiftyplustech and @snowbetterlifestyle to 500 subs! I haven't been consistent so I am working on that.. Best of luck sir! Keep going. He was great to be around. One of my all-time favorite athletes. Thanks for watching and commenting. Virginia is great!
@ yeah, he seems like a great guy and such a personality! Yes, Virginia is awesome! I’m “stalking” your channel to get ideas on getting to 1k subs. From everything I’ve seen for “senior” creators, I need to do a video on “How YT changed this boomer’s life with less than 200 subs” 😊
I think "Easy Mode" is a campaign started by affiliates of UA-cam to win over people from TikTok, especially with the uncertainty of TikTok.😎
From one 60+ guy to another, I look forward to more of your adventures! Is that what they would consider a Texas Size Pizza? lol 😎
