38 yo Asian-Canadian here... in all 38 of my years, I have yet to understand why ketchup chips are not a thing anywhere else in the world, esp in America. Fried potatoes + ketchup is like the staple food/side dish of America. Served everywhere from McDonalds to steakhouses. Somehow the line was drawn between fried potatoes in thin circle form, and fried potatoes in long rectangular form. lol..please help me understand why!
In Germany they used to sell these little bear-shaped potato snacks that were ketchup flavored. I haven't been back for a visit in the last 12 years so I'm not sure they still make them but they existed!
Yeah I don’t like crunchy texture to my chocolate I love caramilks and arrows. But won’t eat coffee crisp or Kit Kats. MnM’s I’ll eat but won’t buy I like peanut enough that it’s not that bad
I love watching people try our snacks for some reason but oh man youre one of the first to actually bring out the hawkins cheezies such an S tier snack
You missed Jos Louis (chocolate cake rounds), butter tarts (a unique pastry), Nanaimo bars (chocolate treat) and Flakie (fruit-filled pastries). On the chocolate bar side, you missed Aero (bubbly chocolate), Oh Henry (peanut bar, available with or without peanut butter), and Caramilk (chocolate with caramel-filled pockets). That's enough to do an entire sequel episode :)
Haha a lot of my favs in there. Both of you with the maple cookies. Yes - that. Even no name maple cookies are fire. Coffee crisp with a coffee or tea is divine!
Canadian here and smarties are actually not a big deal for me but they have a song for these that say "when you eat your smarties, do you eat the red ones last" lol I agree with her on the ketchup chips, they are one of my favorites but I love coffee crisp. It just goes to show that everyone's palate is different. Thank you for reviewing our snacks. It's fun watching people from other countries try out things from Canada!
My favorite video of yours. This hit home for me 😭 My mom told me I used to steal Coffee Crisp from the convenience store shelves while I was still in a stroller. Toronto in the 80’s was good times 🇨🇦
Love this idea! Please consider more!! Apparently the Hickory Sticks are a great addition to soups, sandwiches, dips, salads, and as addition to grilled chicken dishes
Since you both enjoyed the Miss Vickies so much, please PLEASE try the Lime and Cracked Pepper flavor. It is SOO GOOD!!! Great selection of snacks you had there.
As a Canadian I agree with your choices. Hickory sticks are great in wraps and on burgers (summer time fav). I don't eat a lot of sweets but Coffee Crisp is my go to when I do get the craving!!!
Lol! Including your wife was awesome and wholesome! You should try the Chinese food (downtown and Richmond Hill areas) and Korean food for your wife, and you can find the newer Korea town in the Yonge and Finch to the Yonge and Sheppard area.
Whenever our cousins from California come up to visit us in Canada we always go out and buy Ketchup chips and All Dressed chips for them. Also butter tarts.
Idk if you knew this but all the chips except for the hawkins are from the same manufacture, Hostess. They are all apart of the Lays team. Old Dutch is the other brand other than no name.
You should've tried Ruffles Sour Cream and Bacon. For texture I would go with Hard Bites (cooked in Avocado Oil) Black Truffle chips or their Wasabi or their Honey Mustard.
I love eating the coffee crisp in layers, one of my favourite bars. And smarties are best if you let them melt in your mouth, savour the taste instead of crunching them fast 😊
CC is massively overrated and has become worse. Maybe it's nice dipped in actual coffee or hot chocolate. That said, smarties actually taste like cardboard and chalk. I seriously don't know how they managed to make candy coated milk chocolate taste like that.
Coffee Crisp is a great, not too sweet chocolate bar. M&M’s have always been better than smarties. Smarties melt color into your hand and, the coating is too thick.
!!!! *Honoured* to have accidentally bumped into you both!! And (in true Canadian fashion), I am sorry for mistakenly calling ringlady "ringleader", although, she does give serious badass energy. Hope you guys have had an amazing time in Toronto!! All the good vibes from CA! 🍁🇨🇦
I'm Canadian and love hickory sticks. I call the hickory swords cause one wrong bite and you stab your mouth. Ive never thought of putting them on a burger though, that's brilliant!
I recommend pecan butter tarts for treats but I think it's great that you like strange potato chip flavours in Canada because I've always thought I was crazy for liking dill pickle the most but I don't understand this thing of sticking your schnoz into the potato the chip bag😂 seems popular with Americans😂
I am from Canada, my favorite are maple cookies. You can make nuts and bolts treats with hickory sticks and I do add them to my veg burgers sometimes lol
Hey! , This is my first video of yours and as a Canadian you picked great snacks to try, The trick to Smarties. is to put them in your mouth and let the chocolate melt a bit and then bite into them, Its a much better chocolate then M&Ms in my opinion. Subbed!
For being mass produced, Peek Freans cookies are absolute quality. Will always love the fruit creme, maple, and the blueberry crisp. Also, coffee crisp might be one of the reasons i've never lived away from Canada. 😅

For potato chips "Hostess" was the Canadian iconic brand which has just been re-released by another company who bought the brand. They invented many of the iconic "Canadian" flavours like Ketchup. We even have a "Christie" street and "Christie" subway station named after the man who once worked for another cookie factory and bought it out after working there and changed the name. Another Canadian cookie brand is LeClerc from Quebec but also some varieties available at the dollar store :) P.S. Miss Vickies is an S tier chip. Especially the Sea Salt & Malt Vinegar. Jalapeño and the Sweet and Spicy Ketchup flavors are also amazing
The spicy ketchup is fire. Tastes like McDonald fries.
Sweet Chili and Sour Cream are my favourite Ms Vickie’s!
I love those spicy pickle ones
Miss Vickies the GOAT, Chili Pepper Sour Cream and Honey Dijon also good. I dont think they can make a bad chip.
@@txtualytomg all these flavors I’ve never heard of! I’ve tried the honey dijon it didn’t have any flavor to me :/ but smokehouse bbq is my fav😋🤤
