You might be wildly underestimating the amount of work and effort it takes to R&D something completely original. What they're doing here is using off the shelf parts to mimic an existing brand image. Easy and quick for a Chinese sweatshop.

Yep! It seems that the fakers didn't correctly set the Android DPI settings, so apps still ran at phone DPI instead of tablet DPI. The incorrect setup screens also suggest this was made by the same fakers that made fake iPhones. On a side note, with the apps displaying phone UIs instead of tablet UIs, I had seen that on some BOOX e-readers, but at least over there, their custom UX has per-app DPI settings, so (on a device with a 10.3" display) I would often change the DPI from 320 to 240 on third-party apps so that, for example, Evernote would load its tablet UI instead of its phone UI.
However once you’ve opened up the fake iPad, chances are it’ll be hard to get your money back. All they have to do is make a convincing box and it’s pretty much game over for the consumer once the seller gets their hands off of it and sold it
The Genshin impact test is what did it for me. That looked like it was running on a potato phone. Genshin usually runs very well on apple devices (unless it's REALLY old).
I mean, it's probably masked Android, and the specs do fit with the performance on Android, that's the way it ran on my Wiko (though a tad better than on my Wiko, on that thing the textures were all kinds of screwed, the Wind dragon was basically a mess of swirling polygons but I beat it despite not being able to see the damn thing) IOS only has to account for Apple devices, so the optimization is crazy good, but it's decent for an Android impostor
Actually, I'm impressed that an old Mediatek chipset which is P22 can run Genshin Impact. Sure, it's not smooth but it's playable at "some point" which really impressed me. Never thought it will be playable in that old chipset

To be fair, the manufacturers aren’t really the ones trying to deceive. Normally they sell these for people who want the look without the price even if it means loss of functionality. For example, I have fake AirPods Pro’s, because I want the ease of pairing and connectivity with the noise cancelling along with the look of course. Genshin runs MUCH smoother than that lol. I just got a Tab S10 Ultra, but even on my old Tab S7+ I could run Genshin on HIGH/ULTRA EVERYTHING and get 60FPS stable

Heads up, not sure if its on iPads as well. But on new iPhones if you shine a UV light on the pull tab it will light up with text. Its a way to check if its real. I am sure its easy to copy tho... so maybe not the most reliable
I used to own a phone which ran on the helio p22, it's a budget chipset, which supports 4g, im surprised it plays genshin, when that phone didn't. The camera processing of the Helio p22 on that phone is good. Captures the same colour dynamic.

I used to own a phone which ran on the helio p22, it's a budget chipset, which supports 4g, im surprised it plays genshin, when that phone didn't. The camera processing of the Helio p22 on that phone is good. Captures the same colour dynamic.
