Yay! Another upload. As usual great content. A thing about your videos is that you're spot on and it's always so informative. Thankyou for all the hard work and research you put behind it. 💗🎉
Thanks for noticing!!
Just found your channel by accident and I really appreciate how well you explain each subject.
I have a secret clearance and just need security+ to get a start but I’m having trouble considering I don’t have a background in tech
I fell in love your videos
Landed my first help desk position...🎉
I am very lost as a cybersecurity major. I have no practical experience and I feel very unmotivated at times. However, your videos helps me reassure my confidence. Thank you 👍
You can do it!
It happened to me, when you feel unmotivated, watch Mr. Robot or reaccess yourself.
@NicoleEnesse Just subscribed to your channel today! I really liked this suggestion: "Play ITProTV in the background instead of podcasts or the TV." And when I've had trouble sleeping, sometimes I'll drift off to an IT video; has anyone else done the same?
great content, thank you - I am currently enrolled to start my MBA in cyber securities but after hearing your insight I'm thinking to start on my own first
Thank you Kathryn
Great video thumbs up👍👍👍
Thanks for the visit
Military is probably the easiest and fastest way to get into cyber security, I literally know individuals that have degrees in unrelated fields, but did 4-8 years in the military doing jobs unrelated to cyber but getting picked up by top tier companies like GDIT, Raytheon, and even Other contracting companies. This is mainly because they have veterans preference, a TS/SCI, and they get eligibility for most of these jobs.
well you have to consider the four years they spend in the military, and it is really only good for the DoD. Finance and Health fields are industries that people overlook a lot
very good content keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
I have a Security+ and am starting to study for CISSP. Should be fun!
Take good notes!!
It is honestly so overwhelming to find resources. I have wasted so much time on crappy resources I was told were excellent, but taught me nothing! I really hope this helps because I feel stuck in my learning process.
What makes them wasted time? Bad instruction, examples, etc...
I'm learning cyber security on my own. but being a visually impaired, it’s very hard to find an accessible way to learn. Your videos are somehow helpful. Do you have any idea about this?
You can listen to things in the background but other than that I do not know
what do you suggest for someone without any experience in tech/coding and would like to switch career paths to cyber security...where should i start?
I’m sorry I’m not seeing your itpro tv link
Hi 👋 as always you are awesome Please make a video on work labtops and your desk and setup workplace
lol thanks will do
great content
thank you
Army strong! I'm Air Force btw and we do chose what we will be doing in most cases unless you come in open general.
Thanks!
I'm just started studying at a university for a cybersecurity degree. I have to take all programming courses before getting into actual cybersecurity courses. I don't like coding I noticed. Do you think it would be smart to start doing some of the Google Certificates, and other sources you have mentioned, and possibly start working before I graduate?
Yes, I would try to get a job as soon as possible as that is the purpose of college....
4:22 Hey! My hometown. Military wasn't for you? Man, I feel you totally. It wasn't for me either, I HATED IT! But I did grab what I could out of it. I feel like I lived as a civilian too long to want to adapt to military life like many others. Anyway, great video 👍🏽
Aye, yeah, definitely was not my vibe! Thanks for watching htfcm!
So I don't have a degree but my job goal is to be a SOC analyst. I was going to get Sec+, Cysa+, pentest+ and the CCNA. I currently work help desk and want to put at least a year or 2 of that while getting my certs do you think that would be enough to be obtain a SOC analyst position?
Thank you for your time
You could do it way sooner than 2 years! Securty + & CYSA+ should be sufficient enough to land a job. Aim for one year
hi, pobrabily, the Practical Ethical Hacking by the Cyber Mentor link point to a not aviable course
He took off the course
Great video . Do you still have the resume template for cyber security ?
yes, it is in the link below
I love how you compared degrees to the caste system. I definitely noticed that working in insurance. Some employers won’t hire or promote you even if you’ve been working in the field for nearly 10 yrs but they’ll let someone else that has no insurance background and a degree in an unrelated field advance.
Yeah, it’s kind of crazy when you think about it. Tech is a little less crazy about degrees but it’s still a thing
Deers are out in Texas im next door in Louisiana and the only thing out are are nosey neighbors
Nice
I’m still trying to get in the field. I have a security + and a communication degree
What is your biggest frustration ?
@@nicoleenesse finding a job in cybersecurity is the biggest frustration. I have applied for many and got rejected on all applications for a cyber security analyst . I have tweak my resume and I have had a friend that works in cyber security look at it and he said it looks fine. I have no work experience in cybersecurity
Don’t feel discourage, I have a masters degree in cyber security, Security +, and a Top Secret clearance but still can’t even get a job in cyber security. I’m applying for cybers security analyst jobs and even basic help desk jobs and getting turned down
@@Firered-tc6rm Are you serious?!?! Why’s that you think?
@@johnwale5951 they don’t want to pay you what you’re worth, in the dmv area you can get around 75K+ on average for an entry lvl job, but when you have a degree and you going to these companies already with a clearance and security + you can ask for more. I know companies that sponsor people for a clearance and pay for security + training but they low ball employees on pay. If you’re already going to an organization with something whether it’s a clearance, degree, some experience, or even a cert you can ask for more. Most of these contracting companies favor military because they get funding for them from the government. Rarely do companies wanna give ppl a shot especially if you asking for a certain pay for an entry lvl job
Can i be a web programmer and a hacker? That person that who make webdite and network and build security?
Hi Nicole! Im a new subscriber to your channel.
Im looking to get into IT with 0 experience what’s so ever and thinking about cyber security route what Certs should I start with?
I was looking at doing Google it support, ITF + and A+
Should I add those coursera course
Like google cloud security, and google data analytics?
Is the ibm cyber security worth it?
Hmmmm, this is a huge question with a lot of different steps. I don;t want to send you in the wrong direction, but have put this on my videos to make. I am sure a lot of people have this issue
@@nicoleenesse sounds good! Until then I’ll probably just start with google it support since that will take a month anyways! And should help get into it desk support at min right?
Hey Brandon! I'm in the same boat as you right now. I was advised against getting ITF+ and A+ since those certs are mainly for help desk and not for cybersecurity. I would start off by getting Security+ first.
@@themorenacoder Hi Nicole! thanks for your response! The thing is I have 0 experience when it comes to this stuff, jumping into security right away would be interesting but doesnt some of the stuff overlap with net+? im not sure if i want to take the ITF if im taking google IT support certificate! just dont want to spend too much on something that may not be necessary but i also dont want to skip steps since i have 0 knowledge.
If you could pick one, overall ideal route for someone say, with no experience or changing careers, what would it be? And then, maybe the same question but this person also has a family? Thanks as always!
It really depends on a lot of variables. Which one seems best to you?
Hello i just found your channel. I am a college student pursuing my associates degree in cybersecurity and i am close to graduation in the summer of 2022. What jobs do you think are good for entry level. I am going to look into employment pretty soon. I've had one internship that was for help desk for 10 months. Your advice is appreciated.
Thank you!!!!
hi, I really wanna start a career in cyber security and I am completing my first year at CTU Training Solutions but I cant continue because its too expensive, but this is a career path I really want to do. do you have any video I could watch to help me?
i mean is there any qualifications i need to get started?
I started learning Cyber-Security , 3 months ago , but i feel like i am too confused , i pick Web Application Security , can you talk about Web Applications security ? , Thanks for the help !
Hey friend, what do you mean you’re confused? About the content, or the path you’re on?
@@superkool7 I mean , i am confused about path
I work with web applications! I mean, that is a really broad topic and you can go on many paths....
@@nicoleenesse Yeah , A big thanks to you👍👍
I have a certificate and diploma in Criminology and Security Studies.
I have no IT background but I'm going to sign up to a nearby training centre for a certificate in IT security and cyber crime, what do you think? What are some of the challenges I will encounter?what do I need to know beforehand? Thanks you in advance
Same thing with me. A degree in Intelligence and Security Studies. Don’t have any IT background thinking of also getting a certificate in IT security
@@stephx1502 the training centre said it will take three weeks,I'm worried if the period is enough for me considering I have no IT background
Let's wait and see if she replies
Well for the certificate in IT security, it can be helpful but keep in mind how much it cost. You coul self study Security+ pretty easily, and take and fail the exam 3 times and it be around 1,000. So not sure of you budget/ goals/ experience level. The cert could be useful if it is at a local community college and is affordable. They usually also have a ton of resources also.
Good video
Thanks Ahmed!
Really appreciate your videos and realness!! Question?- What is the best Book to get on CompTia Security + ? For exam and study guide? And how legit are they as far as helping to get a certification ?
I like Darril Gisbon Book on Amazon. It is so easy to understand!
@@nicoleenesse much appreciated thank you so much!
I’m 16 rn If I got the Comptia a+ and CYSA+ by the time I was 18 would
The cyber security degree be easy because I already know most of the stuff
CYSA+ is only a small part of Cyber, but you will be way ahead of the game
Hello I would like to go to college for a degree in cs and want to know what certs I should get to make the degree easier
depends on what niche you want to go into
@@nicoleenesse I would like to be a penetration tester and want to make the cs degree as easy as possible so I can focus on getting the oscp through college
@@nicoleenesse cyber security degree btw not computer science
Hi Nicole! I truly enjoy and appreciate your Cyber Security Content!
I noticed that you kept mentioning "the universe" when covering the serendipity step, and I wanted to let you know that the universe is not a person :) and that the Most High God of the Bible is who blesses us with all that we have. And he is the only True God, not the universe. I had to share this info especially bc I appreciate the videos on your channel :)
Thanks for sharing!!
I would like you to be my mentor in Cybersecurity I have a lot of system admin background but as a guy living outside the US is not as easy to get a strong aspect on cybersecurity.
Do you need a security clearance prior to applying to these jobs?
only for DoD jobs, health, banking, insurance you don't need a clearance
@@nicoleenesse thank you so much.
Military seems good but I’m not trying to be away from family for 4 years. Unless someone how I can do less time.
Yeah, that is another issues the military faces
Thank you battle. Still have another question. Do you have a Twitter, email,or Instagram?
