Thank you for the videos I enjoy watching them! I am still looking for a position after the Military which is quickly approaching and these videos help me out a lot
I work as a Sys Admin, have Sec+. At my company, the Sys admins deal with patch management, IT support, help desk support, system and vm management, active directory, and and some automation with powershell. I got offered to trade positions with someone in our SOC, however our SOC isn't a traditional SOC. Basically just run ACAS scans and tell IT Ops team to do stuff, and look at their SIEMs. Does it sound like a good trade or should I keep my position and look towards other cyber security positions?
As a beginner looking to get into Cybersecurity specifically GRC/auditing should i focus on certs first then study the foundational and skills or work on the skills and foundational knowledge first then certs after??
Nice video, however, a CISO is not in charge of IT security and isn’t an executive position they don’t have any position at the board nor any legal responsibility
You’ll have to expand upon your statement, but this is false. An executive is someone with the most senior responsibility in a business. A Chief Information Security Officer is absolutely operating in this capacity. They have ownership of the IT Security program at a company and will typically have all information security personal reporting into their organization. Individual company organizations will differ, but the CISO will report into the CIO, President, or other member of the executive team. Look at the leadership teams for any public big company and you will see this to be true, first hand.

Glad to hear someone talk about an ISSO position.
So I guess the reality for new Cybersecurity grads is this. Either hope to get a job at an IT help desk, or one delivering pizzas. Got it.
