Which would you buy if you had to choose one... Sony 50 GM or Tamron 35-150 f/2-2.8 ?
The Tamron seems like the more sensible option if you can afford one. I think your choice of the 50 might be greatly influenced by the fact that you can't imagine having one lens.
Also, with the Sony at 12800 and lights, f2.8 is more than enough, you'd probably need to add ND.

50 găng tây mốt all the way !!!
100% agree - I recently shot a shortened (COVID) wedding solo with 3 cameras for the ceremony and the 35-150 got tripod ceremony duty for the long range. The whole time I was wishing and wishing for the Tamron to arrive in time for the shoot, but the 50GM instead was the clutch lens again - getting insane F1.2 hand held hero shots with fantastic eye AF on the Sony a7siii that you just won’t achieve on another lens. I still love both lenses- they’re an investment to me but yup the 50GM is just such a special lens.
💯
That intro was solid.
Thanks bro
Thank god you made this video because I’m struggling with these 2 choices
Now i say “ GOD DAM IS YOUR VIDEO WORK IS AMAZING!!” let alone this epic wedding you were able to be a part of. Well done🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you shoot Sony, you need to buy the 50GM. It will keep you from spending money on a bunch of other lenses looking for quality.
Great stuff. Not to sound like a hater (I honestly enjoy your content) but I did notice a flicker in the lights. Is that just because you were shooting high speed and the shutter speed was too fast? I get the same problem in my videos. Not sure if there's a way to shoot high speed and avoid that flicker... if anyone knows, please fill me in. Thanks!
Can't do anything about shitty led lights at the venue 🤦♂️🤷♂️
@@nVuFilms I've noticed that if you slow down the shutter speed, it usually gets rid of the flicker but that's not really possible when shooting in high speed 😒
@@TheLAexplorer nope. Not all the time. Depends on the light frequency
50mm 1.2 is king...Tamron is intriguing, but I love the primes, especially the GM primes
🤙
Great video! Love my 50 1.2 . Having it and the 16-35 GM, was planing to get the 135 GM to get the "perfect" trio. Now after watching this I got confused if I rather should get the Tamron 35-150 instead of 135 GM. What do you think ?
I have also both and I would also choose the 50mm but yes that tamron is gold and yes also too versatile 😊
🙌🤙
Awesome wedding video! The shots and colors looked great, and the editing to the beat was super clean
🤙🤙
Hey man, I gotta say... your Shorts slaps! LOL. Also makes a good outro. 😁
😂😂
Great work man always love your content. And your shorts are hilarious. Keep at it brother 👍
🤙🤙
The 50 is so goated I can’t even think of anything that comes close.
💯
I’d like to try it. I wouldn’t give up my 135 GM or 24 GM for it but the way people talk about this lens makes me really want to try it.
@@LtDeadeye u shud
@@LtDeadeye it’s insane, do it.
honestly bro, fck the lenses, you’re just a beast…this footage is epic ! good stuff man, good stuff
🙏🙏
im glad you made this because im debating between the two LOL
🙌🤙🤙
Thank you. Love 50 GM 1.2.
🤙
You have a great 2 angle shooter.
That focus rack at the reveal is awesome.
Did the place give you grief to use the drone?
Live performance and lit violin. This wedding had to be around 100k
Great work
🙌 no flack on drone
Damn. I just have to comment to say this edit is absolute 🔥
🙌
Great vid! Newbie here, which lens filters were you using in this vid (the one with red rings)? Thanks
My face melted watching this yo
😂😂😂
Could you please compare the bokeh of Sony 50 F1.2 vs Tamron at 150 F2.8 ?
I've Tamron 35-150 f/2-f/2.8, I like the bokeh at 150 F2.8, I just wanna know that will Sony 50 F1.2 give me better bokeh ?
Amazing edit !
Well done Man !
😂😂
I love the shorts man!
👍👍
Hello View! I’ve been getting tired of waiting for the Tamron 35-150 lens to arrive from B&H… Do you think if I order it on eBay from Hong Kong or Japan will have any problem with it with my Sony a 7 iv camera? I always bought equipment from here never international. Thanks in advance!
Try adorama
That tamrom will surely gonna be joining my kit next season. likely replacing my 35 1.8 and 70-180mm
On a 2 shooter scenarion is a great combo to have a 50 or 55 on a camera and a 35-150 on the other. quick swap of words, and one can be "wider" at 35 while the other is medium/tight at 55, and in a different scenario the 50/55 can be your "wider" shot and a 150mm as a close up .
Cool
Love this video... I got the 50GM when it first came out...gotta say this lens is a beast :)
Tamron 35-150 or 70-200 GM II might be my next one....
🤙
“ACTUAL DEELIVERABLESSSS”… 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽💯💯💯 Also, STUNNING venue aside, the shots and compositions are really telling of the skill here. I’d trust you with a crappy event/location any day 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Lol thanks
Man, I just got a Sony A7IV. I rented the Sony 24-70 GM II and fell in love with the sharpness. I feel like I could use something like the Tamron for the longer focal length and versatility for my first real lens. But, I’m really also contemplating the 50mm GM 1.2 because of the low light capability. Any recommendations on the 50mm f/1.2 GM vs the 24-70 GM II?
I’ve been seeing multiple people saying just go with the Sigma 24-70 F/2.8 vs the GM II because of what you get for the price.
What about sony 50 1.4 with 24-70gm ii and sony 135mm for event videography?
heck yes, been wanting to hear thoughts on these similarly priced lenses. thanks! i have the 35-150 and it was great when solo shooting families at the end of last year. I totally get that “too versatile” feel at times tho, and 50mm 1.2 might’ve helped with indoor newborn shots where i couldn’t be flashing leds into their eyes. i’ll prob rent it for the next gig and give it a go. thanks again for the video!
🤙
Maybe next year I'll pick up the Tamron till then my 50GM will do. The outro was hilarious BTW 😭
🤙🤙
I got the 50mm gm and a 70-200mm gm oss ii. Couldn’t be happier
🙌🤙🤙🤙
Are you human like us or you made in a lab ? You're unbelievably and amazingly talented. Wow .
Lol thanks for the kind words
Subbed! Good stuff brother thank you
🙌🙌
So epic!!! Love it. If I could only have 1 lens, between those two, I’d probably choose the tamron. I think. I think. Just for the versatility.
🙌
I've been considering selling a lens and getting the Tamron 35-150. I have a Sigma 14-24 2.8, a Sony 24-105 F4, a Sigma 24-70 2.8, a Tamron 70-180 2.8, and a Sony 35mm 1.8. As a wedding videographer, utilizing three cameras, I feel I'm likely fine keeping exactly what I have. Just have an urge (or a sickness) to get something else, as I have that 24mm range covered. I'm interested in your opinion on what route you would go if you were to sell one and buy another from my lens selection. Loved the shots in this video btw and liked the short at the end. Good stuff!
24-105 should go
@@nVuFilms thanks for the feedback. That is my thought as well, even though it's a great lens. Wish I didn't see your video. Now I'm looking at more primes too. Geez...issues I have! Adios for now.
@@caesarstake lol
Would you recommend the 50mm GM for the A7IV with the 4k60 crop, or the 35mm GM to get the equivalent? Thanks for the awesome content!
35mm
@@nVuFilms 🤙
Would the 24 1.4 work like a 35mm with the 4K60 crop and then with clear image zoom go to 50mm?
I’m literally asking, I have no clue.
@@theonlymisael yes. But not quite as good.
@@theonlymisael in terms of fields of view yes but you lose a lot of shallow depth of field/ bokeh
You are just a Gangster Master. Love the ethnic guy at the end. You should not have slapped him, that is migrant abuse!
Lolol
What are the red rings on your lenses? Some type of filter adapter? I’d love to know, thanks.

@@nVuFilms thanks maaaaan, you show me! For real though, thanks.
@@johnd9357 lol
Do you have a timeline when which lens was used? I have the Tamron and I would like to compare how much worse its 50mm looks compared to the GM.
Content is dope, I chose the Tamron, got it today 😁
🤙🤙🤙
This marriage is another proof money can't buy taste lol, thanks for the comparison of the lens!
35-150 is not a solo shooter's lens for event to me. You can not get group photo/video with 35mm not wide enough. It is a lens mated well with a ultra wide zoom lens. As for solo shooter I think 24-70/28-75 f2.8 is a better overall choice. I am not fan of this 35-150 range. I would like to see tamron make a 20-50mm range lens.
do you think you could fit a7iv + 35-150 on rs3 mini ? on paper its under the mini payload
After getting some “Dusty Nuts” on my Sigma this “Dbag” Tamron is a great replacement!
Lol
Hey, I have Sigma 14-24 f2.8 and I am little confused between 24-70 and the tamron 35-150mm what do you think I should go for. Does the 24-35 gap bothers during wedding??
Even I comparison interms of Image quality between Sigma 24-70 and Tamron 35-150
Couldnt agree more Vu, 50mm fo lie!
🤙🤙
Anybody else just click the “Like” button as soon as the video starts just to support my dog whether I actually like the video or not? Random real one thought 💭
🙌🙌
It would be super dope to see a comparison of the Sony 1.2 vs the Tamron at 50mm
🤙🤙
35-100 seems great but not as much on the a7iv with that 1.5x crop
Probably
Hey Vu, Sorry in advance if that’s an idiotic question but what is the filter you have on the Tamron… The one with the red…. I’m supposed to receive my timer on the beginning of February… I do take more photos then video that’s why the T master 😅 will be my workhorse. WOW wow wow Vu you are a trully an amazing filmakker, I want so much to shoot the way you do WOW WOW WOW. I have a super ideotic question, this 35 to 150 looks so so good, I don't mind the weight at all, but I do have a 7iv and fx30 and I am a bit afraid for the crop in 50fps, (BIG DILEMA I AM IN, I have zoom apsc 17 70 and I have a budget to get one BIG BOY LENS, 24 gm, 35 gm, 35-150 or a sigma 24-70 , but that crop factor is a huge thing. I am 90% solo shooter with vision of having a second shooter in the future. THANK YOU SO MUCH
For crop sensor, I don't recommend lenses over f1.8
Get the 35 1.4
@@nVuFilms Ohh Vu this mean a lot. Thank you so much 🙏
Did the photographer have a giant soft box on the dance floor? Yikes
Samyang 50 1.4 II is a solid alternative to 50 GM.
It's quiet AF now?
@@nVuFilms not as the GM but no longer heard when shooting even with the internal mic, I used to have the 1st iteration and swapped it for the 2nd, happy with it
I was wondering if anyone would compare the two lol
