I’ve seen countless VFX tutorials over the years, but I think this is the first time really seeing what a professional workflow looks like. Thanks so much! And amazing results, of course :)
Working directly with a big-time animation director? Finding out he also chose blender for this? you providing clear instructions for this great animation? That's awesome!
Damn, best real Blender production video I've ever seen. In three minutes I can find you 20 videos on how to sculpt a girl with ridiculous proportions, but very few on getting real work done. Great stuff. It's also great to see Blender holding up to real production.
This is one of those videos that when you find them, you can't help but think "I can't belive I'm watching this video for free". The amount of knowledge I've gotten from just watching your workflow really makes me want to subscribe to your patreon, and I probably will in a couple weeks.
This is not one of the best animation tutorials I've seen, it is simply the best animation tutorial. Period, it's just No. 1 in layout and production value. Amazing
I've learnt more from this video than many many so-called tutorials over the years. Finally a breakdown of blender passes and workflow in AE, thank you so much. subscribed!
This is so useful, thank you. There’s a lot of good blender animation tutorials but it’s so hard to find tutorials on how to organize assets and more complex projects.
This is WAY over my head in terms of what I know about 3D, but HOLY Sh*T , this is someone who knows their stuff. Can't imagine how long this has taken you to make. Well done! Very insightful!! :D
Wanted to say thank you for creating and sharing these videos. They are honestly on another level. There is a lot of great info in your videos that I'll be applying to my own projects.
Even tho the color picker from AE is useless, this is the first time ive seen an AE user actually trying to match blacks by value instead of that god awful amateur way of just adjusting curves by eye. Good job.
Bro I love you. Not only you are great artist... Your teaching methos are so clean and easy to follow. And you share one of the bests workflows I've ever seen. For guys like me, just starting in VFX this means alot. I'll hop to your Patreon. Thanks!
thank you so much for videos like this. It is very valuable for us people who are interested in animation. It's challenging and fascinating at the same time.
I use High Pass filter in Syntheyes for tracking a lot of shots and it was interesting that you did that in After Effects, btw have you ever used Syntheyes? And again thanks for high quality trainings, really top notch.
Hi. I was considering signing up for patreon, only it seems that the contents are no longer being updated. You will continue with the project? I found your work amazing and I ask you continue to share. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hi there and thank you for considering the Patreon. I do plan to release more tutorials but some other work/life has been distracting me from youtube. If you are subscribed you will see when the next one is out :)
Thanks for this. Revisiting it it I have a question. You mention during lighting, that you added a 360 photo that is not an HDRi for the reflections. Is this added in as an environment texture still as if it was an HDRi or was a skybox texture created somehow?
I don't understand how you got a desaturated composit of chuchu as if it was shot on raw format, I mean you did some color adjustment to match it to the graded (view lut) version of the background footage. or is it that ae gives you numbers for the original video when you hover the mouse on a certain color? does it ignore the adjustement layer?
Good question, Abhu! I wanted to go more into the choice but the explanation was too long for the video. But it was mostly my familiarity with After Effects over Fusion. I've also found Fusion to be a bit buggy for me and hard to create a real time preview for my comps. All things that are probably a lack of understanding on my part though. Also, given how straightforward the composits were, I didn't mind sacrificing the benefits of node-based compositing for After Effects' layer-based approach.
So lots of work with the fake AO-shadows and reflections could have been avoided if Blender had a decent Shadow catcher. I've seen they're working on a really nice one for Cycles X that works with HDRis and reflections.
Hi, thanks for sharing this. I want to learn Blender and I want make education contents, involving a lot of videos that contain graphics. I also want to make CGI and VFX video using Blender as a hobby. This is soo lovable! Did you use ACES for the rendering?
Very nice ! :)
Thank you
great in-depth process! thank you for sharing. Sorry if this has been answered before, but how long was each process?
Thanks! I'd say each shot took about 2-3 hours from tracking, scene setup, rendering and compositing.
Can you do a tutorial on how to make Simon on blender

Nice ❤️
Where have you been :/

Hello there! Yes, it was added as an environment texture just like a regular HDRi.
so now you feel better using AE than fusion for compositing?
thank you for this
Cool👍

Did you use to make tutorials or videos before your oldest upload? I feel like I’ve seen you years ago when I was obsessed with film riot
Wow....cool
did u go to college? if yes what is the name of the college course?
I'm really enjoying your tutorials
Why did you use after effects over something like fusion? Was it ease of knowledge and workflow, or was there a technical reason? Thanks!

cool, but the compositionis better in to Fusion!!, why AE_?
