Are you linked to the Smart Home Sounds shop in England? I just got my first Sonos product the Sonos Ace headphones, even with all the negative reviews I saw. I must say I’m really loving the headphones. I actually bought a set of B&O H95 used headphones but the Sonos just felt more right for me. Made me realise headphones are such a personal choice.

You've missed one very important feature, that's applicable to all new Sonos speakers - and that's Dolby Atmos music support for Tidal. Sonos offers Atmos support for Amazon and Apple Music on the Era 300, why not Tidal too? This will be a dealbreaker for me on an Arc 2.

I've had nothing but trouble with my sonos arc and I've tried everything to fix it with no luck. I've changed the cables twice, I've upgraded the software I've reset my sub my sonos 3 rear speakers my play 5 on and sperate amp. But the sonos system stops working in the middle of a show it blacks out my tv video and i need to shut it off and disconnect the arc cable to the tv and play my audio thru my tv speakers and everything plays fine. but I've spent thousands of dollars for surround sound and i have these troubles. This is not good.

Love my Arc/Sub/Era 300 set up but if Sonos really want people to use these instead of dedicated receiver/surround speakers they really need to add DTS-HD and DTS X support. Some older movies realeased on 4K Blu-ray now only have DTS-HD soundtracks so you cannot benefit from the enhanced audio at all. This is the biggest fail in my opinion. I just don't understand why they do not support it. Make it a payable upgrade if they must.

I have sonos beam gen 2 + sub mini + 2 Sonos one gen2..is it worth it to upgrade just sonos beam gen 2 to arc? And is it actually good sonos arc with sub mini or should i change also sub mini with sub gen 3? I really want a lot of base should i keep my sonos beam gen 2 and replace my sub mini with sonos sub gen 3? It will make a huge huge difference?!
Or can i connect to sub? Like sub mini and sub gen 3 together with sonos beam gen 2?

Definitely not worth the full price had mine for a few years. Never really been blown away with the sound. Yes it’s good but for me I’ve heard better soundbars that can separate the sounds better and my main gripe is the centre channel, I’ve truplayed and adjusted settings speech enhancement etc but always find the dialogue poor, quiet, the amount times I’ve had to up the sound to hear the voices and then the loud sounds are just too loud can never get a decent balance…
For me the next ARC needs
    1. Better centre channel with control
    2. Bluetooth
    3. Remote control

Your comment on dialogue is finally an answer I have been looking for in the Arc. I am on the fence for buying one. I am really just looking for a great sound bar for the dialogue. I currently have a Zvox SB500 and am partially satisfied. I feel at times it sounds tinny/treblely. I was hoping the Arc would be an improvement but no one other than you really comments on the dialogue aspect.

I'm not sure what's the problem with one arc port if it's a good one? It outputs any audio from the TV? Then you have Bluetooth if you want to use phone Spotify. Honestly if this speaker plus sub was like $1200 for both it wouod be flying off the shelves. And it should be considering how old the tech is now. Great sound, low tech.

For me, for my space, I looked at several - Polk, Sennheiser, Sony and Sonos. Sonos sounded the best (to me), but I could not justify the additional cost for the sub, which I personally feel you need for all of these soundbars (was not looking at the Sennheiser Max, it's just too big). I ended up with the Bluesound Pulse Plus. It sounds as good as any of the ones I listed, and you can add any powered 3rd party sub. I paired it with a 10" Yamaha, simple plug and play, the Pulse has a crossover of 80Hz, this thing "kicks butt"...

I have the Arc/dual subs/Fives for LG OLED 77C1. Xfinity uses for Dolby 5.1 cable TV, Atmos movies with Netflix, music (not into Atmos music), and sports. Sounds fantastic with the different audio sources. Notice some sports program and commentary leans heavy on L/R stereo; but, background music and crowd noise is in 5.1. The Sonos system does a much better job, less adjustments, more flexibility, and sounds noticeably better with the differently types of audio compared to my Nakamichi 7.2.4 I had before.

The side facing speakers are for surround and the upward firing speakers are for Atmos. The Arc is a good solution if you don't want additional speakers around the room or want limited speaker/power wires. The Arc isn't for you if the outward speakers don't work for your needs.

@@mrgold3591 sure Atmos can reliably bounce of the ceilings, but unless you have a left and right wall boxing in your TV, those side speakers are just puking a mess all over the room.

For anyone thinking about buying the arc and only using it as a soundbar it is absolutely 110% not worth the money! The arc alone is definitely not worth the price it goes for. BUT if you pair it up with a sub and rears it 100% definitely is worth it. It sounds soooo much better when paired up with a sub, and even better if rears are added.

In the market for a soundbar that'd go well with a 55" Samsung QD-OLED for a studio apartment space.
I know the Arc is now outdated, but what options are there for below

I have had one for years and it sucks. I don’t know why it got high makes. It only really supports Dolby formats. It has only one hdmi port. I don’t know what the problem is my Samsung eARC tv, Apple TV and the arc, but every so often when apple updates the software it causes issues either the audio. From everything not Atmos playing in Stereo PCM, or if the audio plays in 5.1 it randomly skips and repeats. This sound bar sucks. On another setup with a Sony atmos soundbar I don’t have these problems and the Sony natively supports and plays damn near all formats. SONOS WHY DONT YOU SUPPORT DTS???? Everyone isn’t steaming crap from Netflix!!!!

It would be nice if they came out with a new Beam but it would act as a center speaker and then you could add four 300's as left, right, surround left and surround right. Plus have 2 or 3 hdmi inputs. This will give you the ability to space out the left and right to the size of your tv or room. I would the capability of using a Sub and a Mini Sub at the same time, Sub for lower register and the Mini for the upper register.

The ARC looks good but sounds pretty bad (weak dialogue, anemic sound). I had to go with the Beam 2 because it sounded better in A/B testing in my setup. I'm looking forward to an ARC 2 release to correct the issues of the first generation.

    • @mrgold3591

I had to set my LG OLED TV to bitstream/pass through for the eArc port instead of Auto/PCM. Setting to bitstream lets the soundbar do the sound processing instead of the TV. The TV might send PCM in stereo or 5.1 depending on the shows audio. Dialogue will be weak if the soundbar doesn't get the center channel or rear surrounds with a stereo L/R only PCM signal.

I just upgraded from the beam 2 to the arc myself, made a huge difference..
Some things I would like to see..
    1. Software update that allows you to add a pair of left and right speakers to the front .. they say the 300 rears make the system a 7.1.4 so imagine the possibilities of being able to add the fronts.. 11.xx🤔
    2. more adjustments for the sound bar, they allow more adjustments for the rears so why not allow similar adjustments for the fronts

    • @Bentrudgill1
      @Bentrudgill1 Рік тому +1

I don't think adding additional fronts would be useful given it already has side firing and upfiring speakers. I think having rear and surround speakers would be more beneficial. I also think you should be able to add multiple pairs of ceiling speakers to make a true atmos system.

What makes Sonos such a strong proposition (having been in Bose echo system before) is the quality of all their offerings independently but also in the integration aspect too. You get a great cinematic experience and sub gen 3 is a top performer in terms of bass with next to no distortion. It beats more costly cinema separates...making is a great solution....
