I am an Indian and i know many people in my relation who were pure vegetarian, ate all grains and seed oils, fruits and vegetables and sweets (occasionally) and lived a healthy life of more than 90 years. They were active till their life and had to visit the doctor in their last one or two years. Eat a balanced diet and stay active and stay away from junk food and unnecessary, unhealthy competition and lead a happy life.

I'm just gonna do what's good for my own body. Just because a certain food makes somone else's blood sugar spike doesn't mean it will make mine. I'm not a diabetic but I have a glucose monitor so I can check to see what certain foods do to my blood sugar. I also do a 30 minute walk as soon as I get done eating. That keeps my sugar even after I eat and not doing a crazy spike. I listen to different people say this and that. I take what's good for me and dump the rest. I pray over my food and leave it at that.

I thank the Lord for blessing me with food. Nearly 1 year ago I finally was able to get testing to see what was wrong with me. Sept 2023. Saw a functional in Eagan, MN virtually as a functional in my state - well 3rd F doc here almost had me figured out with H Pylori but I sought out better help. 4-5 mo prior I thought I had Alzheimer’s setting in. Massive cognitive issues plus migraines and overall felt I was dying at 54 yo. Took a Total Tox Burden test and had biotoxin illness - black mold and food mold (SHOCK) - grain harbors mold. I had high lead & Mercury among other metals. High Glyphosate and I eat organic but live in Nebraska - inhaling it from the farms!! And high BPA!! Been detoxing from it all from Oct 2023 until now. Issue now is I’m reduced to low amylose diet (for mild detox) and low salicylates diet for MCAS from Mold!!! I can’t eat a variety. I tried blueberries this week and it caused the pain in my esophagus to come back.
So use caution when you share opinions like this. Just because you are fortunate to not suffer from environmental toxins or biotoxins now doesn’t mean you won’t in the future. I swear it’s these toxins that are causing Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s along with other chronic disease.
You can’t avoid it 100% but you can def cut back and do binders to help pull this crap out of your system. It’s hell!!!! And I’m single with no one to support me financially or emotionally through this.
Anyhow… just sharing my truths as I experience it. This doctor is right and everyone would do well to apply her advice!! ❤

I grow veggies in my back yard, have started a food forest in my front yard, so I share a bit with insects and they do not look as good as the farmers' stuff, but the satisfaction of growing zero poison food and the taste is much better. I freeze and toast my bread and it helps to turn it into resistant starch. Then I live in South Africa where sugar is reduced in most foods as a sugar tax was introduced. At 69 (70 in 2 weeks) I exercise hard 3 times a week, a mix of cardio and weights. My body mass index is a bit on the slightly heavy side, but muscle is heavier than fat and at 6ft 1inch I am lean at 83 and 1/2kg (184lbs). Then the best thing I have done is to ignore the food specialists and try to eat a 1920's diet.

But, as I've grown older (I'm 83), I don't want to cook so I depend on frozen meals. Maybe it's not the most healthy way to eat but it makes my life easy. I did that for years, decades in fact, but after a bit it's smart to change it up. Meat and low carb vegetables for every meal. Now I cannot look at meat or fish without feeling ill. Aside from a bbq grilled burger or some deviled eggs once in a while, but that's it. Even a nice steak (which I used to love) makes me nauseous at the thought. I have alopecia now. My doctor said it could be intermittent fasting. Not gonna do it anymore. I did the bone broth, you name it. Did not eat until lunch. Then, I spent time with my mom, eating clean, watching portions, riding my bike lots, and poof, my belly fat went away. No insulin resistance. We ate breakfast (moderate: oatmeal traditional w half an apple every day). My mom loves making vegetable soups with chicken. She eats so healthy. I lost what I could not do during the year. Hopefully my hair recovers. Obviously some people are luckier in the hair department, but I cannot afford to lose clumps of hair. P.S. Actually, there's a good answer to this question--it's to choose bread. The supermarket has bread in 2 places--the bakery section, and the "bread" aisle. Real bread goes stale after a day or two and grows mold within four to six days. That's why we used to have separate stores called bakeries that we shopped at every day or two for fresh bread, usually buying what was made that day and consuming whatever we bought on the same day. "Second day bread" was used for toast, French toast, or as breadcrumbs in dishes such as meatloaf. (No, meatloaf isn't healthy food.) The other kind of "bread," in bags with printed labels, sold in the "bread" section, is known in the industry as PAN LOAF, and it's highly manipulated with chemicals, preservatives, softeners, and additives, including lots of sugar. If your bread stays out on the shelf for multiple days at the store then stays "fresh" for a week or more at home, it's pan loaf, not bread. The answer is to choose bread.
But bread isn't that good for you, because it's a high-glycemic-index food that will spike your insulin. The more refined the flour, the worse it is for you. A few slices with other foods is fine. Another tip: look for "whole wheat" or "whole wheat flour" as the first ingredient. Many "whole wheat" breads are actually mostly made from white flour, with a little whole wheat flour thrown in, with coloring. Note too that the bread in the bakery section often has lots of oil in it, lots of salt, and, often, added sugar.
But baking your own bread is fun!
Just found a good video on all this: ua-cam.com/video/i3sP2jwG9jc/v-deo.html

If you are a health expert, why would you be eating at restaurants all the time? People should have a garden at home and grow your own vegetables. You will also get exercise and fresh air. Buy your foods as much as possible at the local farms. Cook your foods at home, with healthy ingredients and with olive oil, ghee and natural fats. Don't use any seed oils. Listen and read as much as possible. Never trust anyone who claims to be an expert. Remember when all the experts told people, butter will kill you but margarine and seed oil are healthy. Often it is not the foods that are unhealthy, it's how they are growing them, processing them and if you eat out, what oils they are cooking them with. All the unnatural additives in the foods, are turning them into almost poison for the human body. The processing and packaging is removing the vitamins, minerals and beneficial compounds out of your foods.

i grow my own khorasan wheat and make flat bread eliminating all your issues. the problem is that most people do not eat food, they eat industrial stuff. i grow most of my own food. i cut all processed food in the early 80's and never looked back. this is why it is critical to consider our home purchase. instead of that stupid lawn, we can grow healthy food and improve our health, be environmentally beneficial, and save money and be more resilient when the artificial society we have limited ourselves with crashes.

She lived very active til she broke her hip at 90. I’m 81with no problems. Even canned green beans are fine. Processed food is expensive. Turnip greens and collard greens and dried beans are cheap.

Eat as close to nature as possible, Stay away from processed foods, Stay away from soft drinks and soda and that kind of crap, And yes , you can have sugary treats or a pasta dish or whatever occasionally. Just don't make it in everyday habit. This is life and it's to be enjoyed. If you watch what you eat most of the time, Stay away from meat, as in eat it only occasionally...... I really don't understand the obsession with people wanting to live forever. I'm 65 and want to enjoy the remainder of my life. And I have no intention of being obese or in bad health. Hard to over eat and buy expensive processed foods living on $275/mo for groceries. I eat Lots of veggies and beans and nuts and seeds. Cheese occasionally. Tuna and salmon ccasionally. Red meat or white meat maybe once a year. Eggs 3 or 4 times a week.

After reading, watching and analyzing tons of information, I have concluded there is only one vegetable that matters: organic micro arugula. It’s packed with nutrients, is low in oxalates, has some nitric oxide production and even tastes ok. I can’t get any other vegetable down without gagging. So, with two organic scrambled eggs in the morning and an almond milk/watermelon/micro arugula/lemon juice smoothie, I went from 195 lbs to 175 lbs in 2 months. Is was effortless as it curbed my appetite the WHOLE day. Dinner is basically an appetizer now. I’m 59 and never felt better. You HAVE to stop “carb grazing.” I’m not selling anything. I’m just “paying forward” some free advice since I feel lucky. BTW: eggs (pastured especially) are maybe the only thing left the micro-plastics can’t get into.👍

Nope, you honor God our Creator of our bodies by eating well and respecting our bodies and in most cases our bodies thrive and serve us well. We stay away from diseases and the doc. I have what my primary calls metabolic syndrome, So I'm going low sugar, high fiber vegan and working to get my triglycerides cholesterol and blood glucose down. I love oatmeal, one of my favorite foods in the world but I'm worried about glyphosate and glucose elevation. So I only buy the Irish steel cut or Australian rolled oats which I think is less likely to be contaminated, I make 5 days in advance in refrigerate it for reheating, always add some fat from nuts like walnuts, pecans, almond butter or peanut butter. No sweeteners of any kind. I also add ground flax, do the apple cider vinegar, cinnamon and psyllium drink about 15 minutes ahead of time. I barely have any glucose elevation after this protocol. My total cholesterol has dropped from near 300 to 186 in just 2 months, fasting glucose from 126 to 103. But still have a way to go. Always looking for hints and want to throw everything I can at my condition. Luckily I've never had any bad habits like soda or smoking, know how to cook for myself, and love every vegetable except sea vegetables.
