What à wonderful music and fantastic musiciens !! Thanks !!
Many thanks!
I would like to get this version of Maiden Voyage on CD.
no grandstanding, no ego, no commercail jive, pure art, restrained, the best speaks for itself, new and creative and historic at same time. 1966 first versions, , amazing they stayed young with the ultimate medicine, love and wisdom, music and taste
...the improvisational and creative universe of 82 years old Herbie Hancock is something unbelievable...the man is really one of a kind...wow...
100% agree, Luiz! We are so fortunate to have Herbie's leadership!
No words
Herbie Hancock is indeed a national treasure.
Herbie, this is your song, your world and your heart. THANK YOU for sharing it all us. Your playing is some of your best ever. You provide the glue for all the musicians - laying it down at times - sneaking in golden nuggets based on their solos at other times until...........YOUR SOLO. OMG. The world thanks you for making it such a better place through your music.
Don't Forget Brian Blade on drums !!
Of course!
Stellar drums!
And “ HIS “Spizzichino ride cymbal, the best jazz cymbal in the world …
And clearly enjoying himself!
the greatest of this generation
Randy Brecker has a beautiful tone. So beautifully played!!
In a crazy world, you guys bring a lot of sanity. Jazz with chords, solos, and a great sound..Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Herbie playing not a Single butter note even at 82 is incredible!

"Play a butter note, Herbie."
"...I don't think I will."
What's a butter note?
Like he thought Miles said, "save the butter for the bread". Apparently Miles said something a bit different, like "don't play the bottom notes' or something. We are still trying to perceive that new direction.
@@chapterrv it's a jazz meme
It sounds as if everyone is indifferent to those who try to conjure up doom scenarios. Beauty, straightforwardness, and love, all practiced in a gentle way, will always be over the darkness.
Zakir Hussain on Tabla , doing Jazz with other maestros is a treat of a life time
This is my favorite Herbie Hancock song ever.
This might be the best version I've heard since the original recording. I hope it gets released somehow.
High praise indeed! Thanks for watching, Eric.
@@Jazzday Any chance this will be released to the public? This is exceptional and worthy - not a soul could engage in war while listening to this.
yeah, if not the best version, to my memory maybe the fullest and most interesting I've heard- I think it's the addition of the tabla. I've never heard it with that instrument- seems to take it to another dimension.

This is So Classy and Zakir Hussein add the Beauty .
Wow Zakkir and Herbie !!! Both are heavy inspiration for me in 2 seperate realms but in this video they are together! I love it
That's some top shelf jazz. Herbie kicks ass as usual , good to see randy brecker. So much talent all around.
Classic tune and what a great band. Herbie Hancock sounding better than even at 82...Wow.
Ravi is true spitting copy of his dad - John and Alice, of course!
I love Ravi's playing. I know you're trying to pay a compliment by comparing with his father but there are clear differences. Ravi has his own voice.
he is spitting
These songs will never die. 🥰
Thanks for watching and for your kind comment!
Herbie is a transcendent human being not least as a musician.... how he suggests ideas to the soloists with his comping... and his solo is still mighty. Plus watching Ravi IS watching 'trane... I love just watching him since his father was gone too quick...
Whew! So great. This has been on of my favorite songs for many years, and I love how closely they hew to the original recording...*until Herbie's solo* where he takes it out into mind-bending alternative worlds. Wow, Herbie, forever revolutionary! Thank you so much for your life's work
This is a stunning array of musicians and a beautiful tribute
Thanks so much, Robert!
a classic! great to have hussain on this version. beautiful!
Thanks so much for watching!
Definitely this jaz takes you beyond time and space.
Freddie and George would be proud of this rendition! Ravi so much reminds me of his dad! Randy is awesome as always.
Grateful for this group of musicians. Much love.
I was introduced to this awesome song by D'angelo on one of his recorded shows during the Voodoo tour . I have been a fan of the song every since.
WOW WOW WOW!!!! AMAZING THE LEGENDS!
Authentic jazz...getting the tone and feel for the original recordings then expressing your own voice.....
Thanks for watching and for your kind comment, Bass Monk!
Bass Monk-cool channel name. Love Thelonious 🎵
It's like this was composed just yesterday.. still mindblowingly fresh, relevant, evocative, and these guys still make it entirely their own while respecting the classic original. Perfection re-perfected. We are blessed indeed to witness. I never knew until doing some research that this composition was apparently originally meant for a Yardley perfume commercial.
This is fantastic old but fresh music by the legend Herbie Hancock. I would have liked to hear more soloing from Ravi Coltrane because of my eternal love for his legendary father, John Coltrane. Otherwise, I appreciate them all, thanks.
A refreshing revisit to one of the immaculate Jazz standards of all time by its composer - the effortlessly agile Herbie Hancock.
lovely relaxed tempo and top notch solos.
Glad you enjoyed it!
. in his solo, Randy Brecker plays tribute to the late Freddie Hubbard, who played on the original 1965 Blue Note classic album.
For 50 years I've love Herbie Hancock and he's still got. Maybe even better.
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching!
Best version ever!!!!
Bellisomo GOAT OF ALL TIME ON THIS SET!
This is a wonderful rendition of this very fine piece of music.
What a kind comment!
Incredible now just like it was when I heard it originally released. An amazing talent. Pool of talent.
Just amazing - all incredible players and so smooth.......bravo!!!
Many thanks!!
I love Randy Brecker’s homage to Freddie Hubbard. What a sublime rendition.
Magnífico trabalho!!!
Just gorgeous!!❤
Still amazed by this tune and Herbie
Herbie, still amazing! Still!
No doubt!
Its amazing how Robert Glasper was able to combine this and Everything in its Right place together.
Wonderful music!! 🎵Herbie sick as always!

Wonderful, powerful and magic "Voyage". On the sky! Thanks again!
Thank you too!
you cry with the beauty and love of Herbie here,a savior
Une formation de haut niveau. Merci Herbie d’avoir réactualiser ton standard que j'avais adoré lors de ma jeunesse....
Merci!
Herbie’s that fine wine that keeps getting better with age!
We couldn't agree more! Thanks so much for watching and for your comment, Paul!
Watching it again.
Delicious performance.
This music is for keeps. Fantastic!
Thanks for your kind comment!
The texture is a breath of fresh air!!!!!!
My favorite 😍 💓 Maiden Voyage
Man this is great stuff right here!
Trumpet feels kind of Hubbard-esque. Short solo, but really nice interplay with Herbie too. Double percussion is nice and light. I'd recognize Brian Blade's drum faces anywhere, lol. Ravi is pretty chill and cool too. And all these years later, Herbie still loves these solos with weird pedals and rhythms that blow up the tension so much, and makes everyone adapt in the rhythm section to tie it all together.
I don’t talk musician talk but I am a dedicated fan.what I do recognize how Herbie ties it altogether with his fury of in -the -moment notes . Ah so lovely !!!
@@MsMuhanji Freddie Hubbard played trumpet on the original record. And "pedal" just means the bottom note is different from the usual root, so it sounds kind of off-balance for a moment. I thought I lost my place a little trying to feel the changes in Herbie's solo, so I figured it was probably that.
Dang!
Master piece. Amyzing
Beautiful
yeah randy !!! beautiful playing bro
code
Amazing! Thanks
Glad you like it Mila! Thanks for watching!
so fresh actually
Yeah!
Magic!
Pure magic /love it
Such a kind comment!
Simply great! Jazz go on!
Thank you!
Obrigado meu Deus 🙏🏻❤️
Ohad, your unbelievable 👏👏👏👏
wow beautiful
👏👏👏 Obrigado.
Our pleasure, Valdemar! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for your passion for the music and for Herbie!
Yess !
Lovely
Pure BLISS - but i would suggest the sound-engineers, some tweaking to allow more tonal-/volume-space for Bassist James Genus - and Tabla-master Zakir Hussain
Very cool!😎
Awesome masterpiece!....
Thank you! Cheers!
For me Herbie Hancock is the Best of the best As my Mom would say Mercy 😊
Maiden voyage. Cool!!!
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching, Rocío!
Sounds good🎷🎹🎼 listening. 11/6/2023.
Ravi is your father , amazing
Gorgeous
Thanks for your kind comment, Al!
Zakir Hussein on Tabla, give harmonious percussion.
Du grand Art !
NICE BAND!!!!!!!
Now, search Joey Alexander and his version of Maiden Voyage. Two different and excellent flavors!
Magnifique
Thank you!
Close your eyes and listen
So stylish 💪🏿💪🏾💪🏼💪🏽💪🏻💪
Masters
Ustaad Zakir hossain saab on tabla ❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful 😊😊😊
Thanks for much for your kind comment, Tyrome!
Ravi looks so much like his daddy! Doesn’t really sound like him though which is good. He sounds more like Hank Mobley at times to me than his father! Great to add Zakir in this setting!
🙌🏾🙌🏾
I read years ago that Randy Brecker actually played bass guitar on that song, "Another One Bites The Dust"!
❤️ 🌹
