I still cannot believe that they got Obi-Wan Kenobi to walk through an inquisitor base while hiding a 2nd person inside a trench coat. It is a living meme and how they thought that was good?! I'll never know. But what did you think of either the episode or what you saw in the review. Let me know your thoughts below and as always, thanks for watching :)

Torturing a daughter of a very influential imperial senator isn't politically wise. The emperor still needs the Senate cause he doesn't have the death star. Palpatine wouldn't not be happy at the inquisitors he would have snapped her neck the moment he heard of it.

The dumbest part of this base being undefended is that there is a video game that takes place 5 years before this. Jedi Fallen Order. It's considered canon. In that game a Jedi, Cal Kestis, swims underwater to infiltrate this exact base. This one. 5 years ago. He killed many stormtroopers and other bad guys here and actually faced Darth Vader himself in these underwater halls. And since that time nobody decided to add even a single bit of defense to prevent it from happening again? Really?

When I saw Reeva deflect FOUR turbolaser blasts from the A-Wings I laughed so damn hard. In the EU novel Allegiance, Mara Jade used her lightsaber to block a bolt fired by a scout walker which would be probably even smaller than the one used here and while she succeeded in deflecting the blast, the kinetic force was so great it nearly wrenched the weapon from her hands.
I could buy that she blocked one shot but there is no way she could block another due to the sheer magnitude of the kinetic energy of the blast. I know this is nitpicking since there is so much wrong with this show but it really doesn't surprise me that they would hire a lead writer who didn't even watch the movies let alone have a miniscule amount of understanding of the established canon.

Nahhhh Nah. This is not nitpicking this is just them disregarding the rules of the Star Wars Universe. There is a reason we have never seen Jedi's deflect ship blasters. I also think the same way about Dark Side force user force choking Jedis. Yeye, he is weak in the force and all also completely unlearned lightsaber combat in 10 years (which is bogus to begin with, yeah you get a little bit rusty but you don't lose an ability you have been trained to do since you where an infant in that amount of time) still, I think there is a reason this was never shown, that being force sensitive has some protective properties against this, because if not Luke was always going to be toasted by Vader or even more so by Palpatine.

    • @random.3665
      @random.3665 Рік тому +1

@@hiiambarney4489 There used to be (in old canon) an ability called force shield, which was more of a passive trait of any force user than an actual active ability.
Basically, any being that consciously uses the force automatically gets a higher resistance to getting manipulated through the force. The force - while not having one single consciousness - is basically the collective consciousness of all living things in the galaxy. Which automatically means that someone has to be MUCH stronger in the force than you are in order to manipulate you (either physically or mentally) through it, since your will NOT to be pushed/pulled/chocked/tricked is also part of said collective consciousness.
There are cases where a very strong force user (like yoda) has gripped and levitated a regular force user (like asaji ventress for example), which would basically be the light side version of force chocking.
But as a general rule, unless there is a HUGE skill gap, force powers are rather ineffective against other force users. They can be used to supplement your arsenal in a lightsaber duel, but they are not a substitute for lightsaber skill.

      The difference is:
Mara Jade was actually an interesting character, who was strong, but not Superman, so she had actually some weaknesses.
Reva is perfect, and she can do anything that is possible or impossible to look incredible.
Unless it is connected to Leia because Leia is even more perfect, so she can't win.

I'd like to point out that when Reva and the spy are talking, she points out that Obi-Wan and Leia broke through a check-point on the spy's planet, like it's supposed to be a 'take that' moment. I guess planets in the Star Wars universe are really tiny, because that's the equivalent of telling an American police officer that someone broke though the border somewhere out in Zimbabwe. SMH
I still can't get over the fact that Reva's actress said Reva would be someone girls could look up to. So far, we've seen her harass and maim civilians and children, and be an insubordinate loose-cannon to her allies. We don't see her do anything to show that she's a force to be reckoned with, other than yell and attack non-combatants. She's a bully!

And what's worse is that Disney Star Wars is just pumping out new shows and movies like it's nothing with no intention of making any quality content.

    • @Rakshiir
      @Rakshiir Рік тому +1

Sadly I realised how bad they are when I watched the show. I was furious watching this whole thing. So many things that make no sense, destroy characters, lore or events that have been written my Lucas.
Not everything he did was flawless or perfect, but at least his story and character arcs did make sense overall.
Star Wars is not the only franchise that has been destroyed like that. Star Trek was hit similarly hard, Doctor Who got a nasty treatment. Even Lord of the Rings now has been attacked by the same mentality. The list goes on. It is way to long.
The really sad thing about all of them is that you could put in some ideas in any of them if you are intelligent enough and talented, but they seem to not want to go to that effort for a franchises where you could very likely make enough money to live your whole life from in a single year. What will be interesting is what will be in the future. What they do now in terms of finances (i.e. losing money) is not sustainable. When will they realise? Or will they? How will they react if they realise it? For me, most of Disney Star Wars can not be part of the canon if you actually want to get back on track, to make money from that franchise (I'd say you could only hold on to the Mandalorian series, Andor series and Rogue one - maybe Solo, since it doesn't destroy that much, but it was just unimportant to be frank. Most shows and movies under Disney are just to problematic for the canon to be allowed). Will someone have the balls to redcon some of this stuff?

Every timeI see a movie or series talk about a "top secret base" that's impenetrable, but then it turns out you can basically just BS your way in, I'm reminded of a time when I was young sailor stationed out of Norfolk, VA. I liked to visit various parts of the state, or venture up to DC, and one day I was traveling down a back country road when I saw a very discreet, but well-maintained entrance to what was clearly a military base. I always liked visiting other bases, just to see what they were like, but had never heard of this one that seemed to be named "Camp Peary". So, turning around, I thought I'd go check it out. Driving up to the gate, instead of an Army MP or US Navy Master-at-Arms with a pistol coming out to greet me as is usually the case, 2 guys in black fatigues, body armor, and toting very kitted-out M4 rifles emerged. I showed them my military ID, thinking everything would be cool and I'd be allowed in, but instead they asked what the purpose of my visit was. Not thinking anything of it, I said I just wanted to drive around and see what the installation was like. They looked at each other for a brief moment like "is this guy f'ing serious?" then handed me back my ID, said I shouldn't be there, and told me I needed to leave.
When I went back to work Monday morning, my officers had a great laugh and told me that I'd tried to access one of the CIA's training facilities.

This reminds me of one of the many things that annoyed me in the Shang Chi movie. When they're escaping from the officer's garage, some random foot soldier happens to crash into them, and they grab him. Quite conveniently, his palm print unlocks the gate. In every company in the Army Reserves I've been in that has a motor pool, only 3-5 people have access to the codes and locks, and only for very specific reasons. The random troopie who would be chasing down intruders would not be one of those 3-5 people.

The problem is that's the exact opposite of the original series, where giving into your feelings was the way to the dark side. I think now we see why the sequels and this series is so anti Star wars feeling. The original Star wars presented the Jedi as a bunch of stoic warrior philosophers. However modern sensibilities says that feelings should rule everything, in other words we've all become sith and that's why the Jedi must be destroyed.

The problem with this show is that for three episodes, it places such an emphasis on Obi-Wan's mental state being the block of his powers. Yet in this episode, a bacta bath is enough to unblock it. Not only is the payoff not befitting what was set up, but it makes the writers look like they used mental disorders like a Chekov's gun. It's fired, it's done its job, so who cares how it got on stage in the first place? Yet the show still hasn't explained to me why Obi-Wan thinks it's a job well done protecting Luke when he buried his lightsaber in the middle of nowhere.
Speaking of feelings should rule everything, there's a UA-cam user who tried to defend this tripe by saying that fear and near-death experience unblocked Obi-Wan's power. Not only is this bullshit in real life (yeah, go ahead and set a PTSD patient on fire to "snap out" of it), but isn't using fear to power oneself a Sith trait?

As we learn, it is a religion based on stoic control over your emotions, allowing the rational side of yourself tame the beast. Allow the beast to take over and you get Vader. Turn away from fear and hate and you get Luke. But OB1 is channeling his fear and panic to regain access to the force after showing us meditation was futile.

Obi-Wan needs to be emotional and in touch with his feelings to connect to the force... so, Obi-Wan has to abandon the Jedi principles and embrace the dark side of the Force... as it is the feelings/emotional submission by which the dark side manifests its power, and in the stoicism of the Jedi Order which grounds the Force user in the light side.
Sith: Feelings and emotional appeal lead to anger, anger creates greater power for the individual exclusively, regardless of the power's exercise.

@@josipmarasovic7084 The Kenobi series undermines Episodes 4-6 entirely, in fundamental ways, and also the foundational lore of Star Wars as a whole.
One instance which really demonstrates how inept the writing is comes from Kenobi Episode 3. When Obi-Wan faces Vader (when he can run away and getting rag-dolled) the writers premise the entire interaction on 2 things:
      1. Kenobi is weak, feckless and easily dominated through the Force - Kenobi at his weakest.
      2. Vader is perhaps at his height of strength and so can manipulate Obi-Wan through the Force and his exercise of the dark side.
This is the penultimate nail in any continuity because of what happened in Return of the Jedi. When Vader fought Luke he sensed he had a sister, and Luke was more in control of himself and the Force during their fight than Obi-Wan as in his fight with Vader.
So Obi-Wan sends Leia off while he attempts to slow Vader. He is afraid and his only thought is to protect her because of who she is.
Vader at the height of his power facing Obi-Wan in the depths of his weakness does not sense the child and who she is.
This series so far has created such undermining of Episodes 4-6 that the only way to salvage them in continuity and lore is, effectively:
      1. Vader has brain damage and the memory of a gnat.
      2. Leia has brain damage and the most profoundly traumatic experience of her life she is completely oblivious of about 10 years later.
The only way can overcome both Vader and Leia being complete morons is Obi-Wan and/or the Force itself is so powerful he/it can mind wipe everything that happened from all parties involved. Even if willing to accept this (which is even more lore breaking), it would then mean the Emperor could not reveal Luke to Vader, Vader could not have Luke realize the truth when he reveals he is his father, Vader would not be able to sense Luke had a sister because if:
      1. Obi-Wan or the Force itself has the power to mind wipe everyone about everything at this time then so long as either exists later at the same level of power and reach there is no reason for it to falter later.
      2. Obi-Wan becomes a Force Ghost, making him more powerful than Vader could ever know (as does Yoda) which would entail they have even greater power and reach within the Force, so would make sure any revelation or weakness exploited by it would never occur.
      3. Obi-Wan and Yoda wouldn't need Luke, being the weaker of the twins and with no exposure to the dark side (Leai shrugging off Reva mind prope without even realizing she is, because she is that powerful).
      4. Leia now becomes even more idiotic in 4-6 because she has no memory, goes from such native force Power to only barely being able to sense anything with the Force later.
      5. Vader demonstrates his brain damage in not remembering or his weakness and no reason to be feared by not remembering and then doubles down into having Leai as a prisoner and oblivious to her Force connection and triggering both their memories.
In the end the series actually does more damage to Star Wars 4-6 and retroactively to 1-3, and ironically 7-9. In such a short time frame with this series the have invalidated Episodes 1-9 and every series or convective work based on those Episodes... epic failure at its finest.

Trilla Suduri from Jedi Fallen Order was actually intimidating because she was written and designed well and the context in which she was intimidating was executed perfectly. Cal was undertrained and unsure of himself, so Trilla was able to beat him and at times even manipulate him. Until he grew in strength, at which point the helmet came off and you saw the truly broken soul beneath. A beautiful young woman now scared both physically and mentally by the dark side of the force, cursed to die by the very hand that took her in the first place.
That story worked because it allowed both characters to build and conclude in a way befitting of them. And best of all, neither character was ever treated like some kind of social commentary. Because she was a character and so was he. But hey, SHOUTING MEANS ACTING!

Disney/Lucasfilm's deference to the vacuous platitudes of diversity and girl power has broken the mythology of the original trilogy. Exploiting an IP's lore and iconography to serve as a platform for subversion and social messaging is what creates bad writing, precisely because it prioritizes the wrong things. The original EU and things like the Knights of the Old Republic games had all the diversity that modern-day activists find appealing, but the biggest difference is that those stories respected the lore and didn't try to remold the Star Wars mythos in order to serve the diversity/female characters that the writers wanted to see succeed at all costs. I can't watch this series - it will only cause me to hate characters I've always loved (Obi-Wan and Leia) and despise new characters that have been forced into the now broken lore (Reva).

The saddest thing is they could have had a good reason for Obi Wan to leave Luke, for example Qui-Gon instructing him to leave Luke to learn to become a force ghost, as that is the only way to save him and the Jedi in the future. His reappearance could have alerted the inquisitors and Vader and they'd go after him, only for Obi Wan to defeat some inquisitors and have an epic face down with Vader which he wins because Qui-Gon reached out to Anakin which gave Obi Wan a way to escape. Qui-Gon reaching out from death also could have filled the plot hole which is Vader knowing how to become a force ghost as Vader probably would try and find a way to master that ability after learning it exists. So much opportunity for something awesome with this series ruined by a canon-breaking mess which isn't even remotely good. I don't even like the music as most of the 'nail biting' moments just fall flat by really boring music. Star Wars is grandeur music and this series doesn't contain any of it. hugh, kinda surprised you didn't mention these thing:
    - Obis Lightsaber bouncing off the strom trooper
    - the snowspeeder almost hitting the back wall of the "hangar" on their first attack run (and the laughable CGI in those shots)
    - yet suddenly teleporting away to start the second attack run/rescue run
    - being able to easily deflect blasters from a ship with a lightsaber (obi was blown away by the slave 1 in E II)
    - Leia having the droid with the beacon on her, although we have seen Reva take it away from her and never giving it back (or put in a beacon for that matter). Might have missed that scene though, the show is kinda hard to look at....

They had to capture Leia twice too. She will probably wind up getting captured in the next one too, even though by all rights she should go STRAIGHT back to Alderaan (which she probably won't, she'll get involved in whatever stupid "plan" gets cooked up by the good guys.) There is nowhere to go now though, there should be no more "good guy" objectives. Leia is safe and Obi-Wan is free to go back to Tatooine, the show SHOULD be over. This whole series is 2 episodes repeated in a loop- 1. Capture and 2. Rescue. In other words- utter filler.

Five years. And somehow it has less security than before. Remember how Merrin had to render the whole ship invisible because there was a blockade of Imperial ships in orbit? Now ships can just fly in and out unchallenged.

    • @adventtrooper

It's the same with any base that's been infiltrated, there's no need to improve security. After Cal Kestis posted his infamous 'First' selfie from inside the base onto Sithbook, no one else could be bothered; it was done already.
