The irony in all this is how you went out of your way years ago to never again buy a "knock off" body kit that steals other people's IP and yet here you are trying to sell GTD replica kits😂😅
I'd put money on SH knowing exactly what they were doing when they designed that kit. I love watching TJ and always thought it was cool that SH made a name for themselves. However, being a small company doesnt give them a pass for ripping a body kit design to 90% copy. Hopefully they learned a valuable lesson and dont barrow full silhouette designs from a body kit...instead, go back to making your own 100%.
Tbh, Really did a good job making a GTD replica body kit but that actual car was a comeback for the company to make its peek and compete against other manufacturers so it was very disrespectful showing on sema. I would say it’s a good decision taken by ford.

The only statement you made with bringing that car to Vegas was disrespect & likely a burned bridge in the future, ik it sounds like I’m hating could be wrong… open to other opinions however that is a replica kit imo.
Well they didn't ask him to not bring it to Vegas and it's well within his right to bring it there in a non-formal context (i.e car meet, photo shoot, etc.). The specifically asked that it not be brought to the SEMA show itself. It didn't sound like they asked for the kit to be destroyed, for the car to not be driven, for the car to not be shown. Just simply that it wasn't brought onto the Las Vegas Convention Center grounds as an official part of SEMA or the kit sold to customers as is without Fords approval. I definitely don't think a bridge is burned, I just think it's more of a don't sell the kit and bring it to SEMA without making changes or receiving a formal partnership from Ford. I also, don't think an official partnership/licensing agreement with ford to sell this as an authentic GTD style kit is off the table. That would highly benefit both parties as StreetHunter would handle manufacering and most of the R&D (with some input from Ford to make sure it alligns with what they'd want to sell). With Ford it would also benefit them, as they'd most likely receive a license fee and a royalty per kit sold which would help them by putting their name on an official kit and financially benefit Ford with the royalty.
Technically it doesn't matter I looked into everything and he didn't break any laws whatsoever do 5 minutes of research he literally did nothing wrong and could continue on with his original plan if he really felt like it 99% of the time people just avoid the problems because Ford's got lawyers on retainer that will just rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal costs in people get scared not knowing if they're going to lose all that money so they settle or they avoid it altogether.. either way do a little research out there about how many replica kits for other cars and companies there are they aren't breaking the new rules or laws either if somebody can pull off a more affordable option of something that looks just as good then people are going to love it and do what makes the most sense financially for themselves... The only thing they didn't want him to do was display it at SEMA they didn't say he couldn't continue on with his plans of making the stuff I guess people just miss that part

Real shocker. Copy the GTD, bring your car to Sema and not expect Ford to stand up for its design patents. You copied them. Is this a design to be proud of? Of course your team has great fabrication skill. What really defies understanding is, as smart as you and your team are, why would you not expect this outcome? If you try to sell the knockoff GTD body kit, expect to lawyer up as you will never match Ford's legal team.
No it doesn’t. There’s so many things different about TJ Hunts kit. The lip, wing, spoiler, and so much more is different in many ways. It’s not a carbon copy. The only mistake TJ made was designing a kit for a Ford. I guarantee Chevy wouldn’t hadn’t sued him.
You can't buy a gtd kit.....even if you could it wouldn't fit on a stock body mustang gt.....and yet people do that too with gt3 kits, bmw kits. Plenty of kits like this on the market for other entry level cars to make them look exactly like the "race" version. Garagistic anyone.....

Dudes been walking the copyright line for years with his merch designs, this is clearly way too close for ford to be happy with, especially the gts is so new. Probably be different if it was just a gt500 kit or something.
Merch is a bit more open as it's considered art for the most part and brand images are up to interpretation when used in art. A lot of car enthusiast merch companies tow the line of copyright because they can as it's not a direct copy, but an artistic interpretation of whatever they took inspiration from (company logo, car design, etc.). When it comes to physical products the laws are quite different. For example Porsche has the dimensions and shape of the 911 trademarked and patented, Ford most likely has done the same with the GTD. By creating a kit that is very close to the GTD do to it being a physical item that closely resembles the GTD in a physical, function/aerodynamic, and material format it will most likely breach patent law and copyright/trademark law.
Like many others I’m not surprised at the Ford filing a complaint, it does look like the GTD a lot, _but_ that’s also why I like it. Personally, I’ll probably never see the day I can afford a GTD but I can probably one day afford a mustang GT and a bodykit. At the end of the day, I hope you succeed in selling this kit or a kit similar to it, because it looks great, and it just be really nice to have more aftermarket support for this car in general.

This will sell tons in other countries that cant afford the GTD.. Sucks to be Ford. He just outplayed them at their own game. Ford was a company designed for the people. They did not copy the GTD, as it is a completely different car (much more different than a GT3 is to a 911). The only statement you made with bringing that car to Vegas was disrespect & likely a burned bridge in the future, ik it sounds like I’m hating could be wrong… open to other opinions however that is a replica kit imo.
The bridge is definitely burned to a crisp. He lost a major partner there just by being too lazy and clueless as to what happened. SMH

What did you expect when you made a 1:1 copy of the GTD and stole their IP? The bitching/whining at the end was chef's kiss.
Like many others I’m not surprised at the Ford filing a complaint, it does look like the GTD a lot, _but_ that’s also why I like it. Personally, I’ll probably never see the day I can afford a GTD but I can probably one day afford a mustang GT and a bodykit.
