  • Wax Vs Aloe Vera Retwist | The reason Your Locs May Look Different!
Even though you use aloe vera in time you’re hair will also be less frizzy and just as neat, if that is what you’re going for... I’m just saying that sometimes wax can make your locs look neater quicker but with the pros of using wax there’s cons as well.
In this video I am going to be sharing my opinion about the reason you’re Locs may look different from someone hair who uses wax. Basically locs vs aloe vera! I am not saying that this is in every case but this could be an explanation.

Take it from a sister who learned the hard way.
Beeswax, gels, etc. causes build up.
It’s a wax. Your locs will develop a hard coat in your hair and is almost impossible to remove from mature locs.

elusive prodigy Aloe Vera gel or flaxseed gel are good alternatives. If your curl pattern is tighter then you can get away with just water, oil and something to keep the hair in place (clip or tie) until it dries.

I appreciate that you mentioned that there’s never true “expertise”! I that’s so true. I prefer aloe gel to waxes as well. Wax may hold better, but it might not be best for the health of locs in the long run. Things that are solid at room temp and can’t be dissolved in water give me build up immediately so I stay away. Lol @the “shaft to penetrate what” comment 😂

I don’t use product. Just get a retwist with water and then get it styled. I work out and keeping it styled keeps my hair looking neat for 2-3 weeks. The one time I let her use wax to lay my perimeter locs I noticed build up at my wash day and washed 2 more times with dawn to cut through the grease.

Well now..It really depends...Beeswax or shea butter is fine to use lightly and infrequently as in take a dab...like literally a drop rub it into your hands as if it is lotion
..this will melt it....run it on the strands palm rolling...twist your roots with whatever water soluble gel you like use clips to keep in place and sit under cool dryer. People run into issues when they use the wax as if it is a gel. If you have the greasy build up...use a natural product from the earth to scrub with shampoo...such as coffee or ground up shells of nuts...use some seeded berries...be creative and keep you hair healthy.

Hey fam, I have to say I love your locs. They look clean, healthy and that's my goal. I dig the look also. I see those people with the prefect locs and that's fine but not for me. I'm pretty early in my loc journey, only 7 months. I started with longer hair to begin so initially it was a challenge. I haven't been back for a retwist since the locing process started. Mostly because of the covid-19 deal but also because I didn't feel like I needed it. I didn't care for the gel used in my hair because it did seem to leave build up and in my research too many frequent retwists put stress on the hair. I have fine hair as it is. As I get into this, I tried a few products to see what works for me and I'm to the point now where I feel less is more. I've seen too many people well into their loc journey and their hair looks hazy. I suspect it's the products including gels and wax. I wash and use sweet almond and jojoba. The aloe vera is the newest addition when I do a pseudo-retwist to neaten things up after a wash. My curl pattern isn't super tight so, I have to use something. Glad I stumbled upon your comparison.

And in my experience beewax only works if you dry your hair
But I still want to try aloe vera for my dreads but I will still use beewax
I have a super sensitive scalp I can't even use normal dandruff shampoo I have to use medicated one from my doctor
But I prefer beewax on dry hair when twisting but I moisturize my hair as well natural hot oil treatments
Remember your hair is like your own tree do what's best for you
But if you don't want neater and long lasting twist natural beewax is the best
But I will try aloe vera bcoz it's really good for moisturizing everything on your body 😂😂

@@ElizabethRosette Very true, I agree. Its just that I have to mentally shift myself from thinking that the more # locs you have is better then having thick and strong locs

broo, no offence but can you cut out the two full minutes of you flipping your hair around? or at least put it at the end? I came for the information, not to watch you preen to some background music. It looks good, sure. But did i need to watch three hours of it? No. honestly a still image would have gotten the point across. thx.

      Hey none taken.
Unfortunately you’re probably the only one who doesn’t enjoy that portion so I would say “no, I’m not going to cut it out or put it at the end.” I’m sure there’s other channels that would better suit your preference.

She probably woulda loved it if you didn’t decide to throw your useless comment into her comments section but hey, ig u can’t always get wat u want , if u don’t like the way SHE edits HER videos then maybe not watching them at all would suffice, or you’re just a negative person who wants to pick on one thing that u find inconvenient instead of dwelling on the other 99.8% of the video that was very informative and helpful, maybe you’re just a natural Grinch who knows.🤷🏽‍♀️ ( I enjoyed the FULL 2 minutes Elizabethhh!)🥰

using wax in your hair just sounds like an oxymoron… buildup/mold, which will have an offensive odor over time no matter how often you wash them…
