there’s two you misssd: in maritime memory you can hear sheldon’s shop theme, and in un conscience you can hear some noises sampled from octo expansion level music. (the little “ye e a a a” things after marina is done talking)
iirc in Side Order, Pearl's jingle when everyone's in front of the tower talking (A Changless World is playing) right before she poses plays the start of Acid Hues
Wait, what about the Grizzco Industries theme and all the times it shows up? If you plan to include that later, you can add a note at the Alterna Space Station saying that it is implied that Mr. Grizz adapted the tune that plays there into Happy Little Workers. Also, it's extremely well-hidden, but my friend pointed out yesterday that the music that plays in the elevator in Side Order, at least for the first twenty floors is yet another arrangement of the Onward motif! My mind was blown! X D
Splatoon music never fails to make me emotional and it’s amplified even more by the fact that I started playing the games when I was in fifth grade and I’m about to be a senior in high school….
I'd like to add that there's a guitar in Ebb & Flow (Out of Order) that sounds a LOT like Now or Never from Splatoon 1. It plays right after the chorus.

first of all, this video rules !! i love getting to see both the references i caught confirmed and the ones i missed :] love love loooove when video games use leitmotifs like this lol second of all, i noticed that calamari inkantation actually plays in a couple other spots in this video that weren’t about it! they’re both pretty subtle, don’t blame you for missing em (or just deciding not to point em out lmao) Fresh Start (9:22) - you can hear it in the in the background throughout in all 3 clips Splatocalypse (15:02 and 16:40) plays in the background once again, this time as bass. it’s an extremely light reference at best in the first, with it only sort of sharing its patterns and being super drawn out, but the climb at the end is very recognizable. in the second, it’s a bit harder to hear because of how quiet the bass/cello? is but it’s a much stronger reference i might’ve missed some, and this makes me wonder if there are any other subtle calamari inkantation references in other songs.. idk lol, sneaky little leitmotifs are cool

fly octo fly vocals were SO CLEAN
You forgot the salmonid cover of anarchy splatcast theme. Also the grizzco theme which plays in grizzco, in salmon run intros, at the mr grizz boss, and during the rocket launch sequence. Also every version of now or never (theres like 9 if you count the concerts)
4:51 side order's uses of the onward leitmotif are phenomenal!
This is one of my favorite things in music, i just love when motifs repeat in other songs (yes i like undertale music)
Also the first secteion made me mad nostalgic 😢
i’ve been looking EVERYWHERE for the hyper bomb sound effects and i find them here 😭😭😭 very glad i finally found them
btw the transitions into other songs are so nice to listen to 🫶 this entire video is beautiful
all of dedf1sh’s leitmotifs just make me so sad 😭 #0 shell, because they felt like they were a shell of themselves. #0.1 style, because they arent a shell anymore. #12 awake, because they thought after being sanitized they can finally focus on their music, #12.2 awakened, because they woke up after being sanitized. dont even get me started on #8 regret because acht means eight in german, what if they regret being sanitized so they named that track after themselves with feelings of regret 💔 god they make me so sad i love them so much
some of these gave me the chills

- eeeee and-
Up UP up up UP
(Lyrics are just taken from Silent N but in a DJ Octavio style)
11:35 WE'RE SO BACK!!
I think it's great that they know how to make a melody but in different contexts.
the tower jingle in OE is the same theme as the blender door opening
#0 shell is also used in the OE character create screen
Watch them add three more OTH songs for the spring fest
BRO
there’s two you misssd: in maritime memory you can hear sheldon’s shop theme, and in un conscience you can hear some noises sampled from octo expansion level music. (the little “ye e a a a” things after marina is done talking)
there were so many FLAWLESS songs transitions
iirc in Side Order, Pearl's jingle when everyone's in front of the tower talking (A Changless World is playing) right before she poses plays the start of Acid Hues
I love how you made it match in terms of timing. Really satisfying
I got goosebumps throughout the entire Onward section.
11:35 it actually makes reference to We're so back though I don't blame you because at the beginning I thought it was a part of Ebb & Flow 😂
I think you missed the Character Customization song in Splatoon 2, (Zest Fest?) where it references the victory theme from Splatoon.
THANKS SO MUCH!! i love leitmotifs and ive wanted to see a video like this for soo long
extra: in octo expansion, during the 8 finale phases, the “skip guage full” sound effect is (im pretty sure) sampled from calamari inkantation.
14:44 "I'm just gonna rest my eyes for a moment, I had a long day."
14:50 * Me 8 seconds later *
OMG amazing video!! Despite not being the best pasionate about music! Splatoon music just has that thing!!
This is so incredibly well made!! Especially the Onward! part, I’m sure that took you a while haha
this is so indepth thanks so much for making this
Spectrum Obligato is Ebb and Flow (Out of Order)
They’re both in the name of it, not like Fly Octo Fly~Ebb and Flow
We need an updated version of this video now that we got "We're so back"!!!
Splatoon music never fails to make me emotional and it’s amplified even more by the fact that I started playing the games when I was in fifth grade and I’m about to be a senior in high school….
Happy little workers not mentioned :(
AMAZING video though. I love splatoon's OSTs so so so so much
I'd like to add that there's a guitar in Ebb & Flow (Out of Order) that sounds a LOT like Now or Never from Splatoon 1. It plays right after the chorus.
13:03 16:17 Aesthetic warning
Across the video there have been several times where I wanted to point something out that you did which I liked but there are just a lot of them.
Pretty good editing, I love it. Thanks for this video overally.
we’re so back has a leitmotif from the level clear song in side order!
Man you still forgot about the Calamari Inkantation in #8 regret, idk why people always miss that one
7:35 Excellent performance, darling
first of all, this video rules !! i love getting to see both the references i caught confirmed and the ones i missed :] love love loooove when video games use leitmotifs like this lol
second of all, i noticed that calamari inkantation actually plays in a couple other spots in this video that weren’t about it! they’re both pretty subtle, don’t blame you for missing em (or just deciding not to point em out lmao)
Fresh Start (9:22) - you can hear it in the in the background throughout in all 3 clips
Splatocalypse (15:02 and 16:40) plays in the background once again, this time as bass. it’s an extremely light reference at best in the first, with it only sort of sharing its patterns and being super drawn out, but the climb at the end is very recognizable. in the second, it’s a bit harder to hear because of how quiet the bass/cello? is but it’s a much stronger reference
i might’ve missed some, and this makes me wonder if there are any other subtle calamari inkantation references in other songs.. idk lol, sneaky little leitmotifs are cool
19:25 it's GONNA be: the 2024 splatsville músic awards!
