Regarding the moment between Jaune and Ruby. Jaune was powerless to save Pyrrha, and you could tell he didn't want to split the group on the train. Hes dealing with a lot of emotions here. At first I thought he was dealing with PTSD like Yang, but as the show went on, it became more apparent he's dealing largely with survivor's guilt, with a touch of abandonment issues. I feel like the show does a great job with his development. Early in the show he has this "macho stuff" in his head and has trouble talking about his feelings, so he doesn't. Instead we *see* him wrestle with emotions rather than talk about them. His training scene in the woods, the wounded tone in his voice when he confronts Cinder for the first time, the way he abandons getting revenge to try and keep Weiss alive and saying "No! Not again!", telling Cinder that his life doesn't matter and the others are the ones that do. The man is carrying a lot of guilt and thinks Pyrrha should be here instead of him.

One thing that I love is that the Arc family is all color coded according to the rainbow. There's Red, Orange, Yellow (Jaune), Green, Blue (the twins), Indigo, and Violet, and that also seems to be their birth order too. ROYGBIV.

When I said this on another video someone told me that Jaune had to be the youngest, but I'm still not sure why that's the case. Like, presumably his parents didn't know they were going to have 8 kids, including a set of twins, so why would they name them in a different order?
@@DigiCount I don't think it's ever been said Jaune is the youngest unless I missed it somewhere. Canonically however we've only met 1 sister in the show so we have no idea what the others are like yet.
Can't forget that it was Ruby's fierce optimism that allowed her to resist the Apathy for so long - if she wasn't so resilient they might not have been able to escape, or they would have ended up leaving the lamp
I really love how Maria incorporated gravity dust for her scythes. Always wondered up to this point how useful they could be otherwise in combat, and they did not disappoint.

Tock (Crocodile Faunus) is a very interesting character to me i believe it has been said that her semblance is temporary invulnerability and she becomes quite weak afterwards which is why she carries the clock for a timer. She is also a reference to the Crocodile from Peter Pan
Yep, she triggers her semblance and becomes completely invulnerable for 60 seconds, but this completely depletes her aura, which breaks when the time is up and leaves her mostly exhausted.
That seems like a very stupid and useless power to have tbh. Wow invincible for 60 seconds than the weakest fighter can take you out.

@@brothersandsistersofvalhalla it only seems dumb because you know exactly how it works. Basically everyone Tock fights has no clue how her semblance works and as such cant abuse its weakness. Also Tock aura was strong enough to completely disarm Maria just by being struck. So if you dont have two weapons or use gravity dust your left defenseless from your first attack. Also since Aura is now a plot device (Maria aura broke from 2 attacks, even vol 1 juane could take more hits) id say 60 secs of invincibility is pretty busted.
@@DevilSlayr It would only work against headstrong or inexperienced fighters. Someone who's a veteran would know better than to just charge in blindly in a fight. A minute is also a very short time in a fight.
GODDDDDD YOU PICKED UP ON THE "I'm tired" shit SO QUICKLY!!! I remember that going completely over my head the first time I watched, going back and seeing all those hints of how DEEP it all goes is... wow how did I miss that 😅
Also the beauty of RWBY is the only "rule" for OC is the color theme rule! I play in a RWBY dnd game and my character and teammates are straight up the Hashira from Demon Slayer reskinned for RWBY! You can be inspired by the Grimm Reaper like Qrow says he was since she was such a legend or you can be her grandkid if you damn well want to be! The only limits are your ~imagination~! As long as you're having fun, that's all that matters!

Another great video and here I am with another bunch of interesting facts:
1) Someone seemed to die in the well as there is a skeleton
2) If you pay attention to the opening it makes it quite obvious what the connection between Ruby and Maria is (It zooms one Ruby's eyes and transitions to Maria's visor)
3) She is the GrimM Reaper (Its a great pun from the original Grim Reaper)
4) The purple effect is Gravity Dust - since all of it is colourcoded, whenever something shines purple its gravity - Her scythes can attract to one another allowing her to do all the cool things she did - Gravity dust seems super useful doesnt it?
5) Welcome Tock our least favourite crocodile girl (She alludes to the crocodile from Peter Pan) - Her semblance makes her invulnerable for 60seconds but breaks her aura after - Great job catching the fact that the battle itself lasts exactly that long - extremely good storytelling if you ask me.
6) "My master" - Wonder who that is, huh? :P
7) My first reaction when I saw her scythes was: "Well this whole scythes everywhere thing is getting overdone", I was blown by the backstory behind it (I bet young Crow had a poster of Maria on his wall :D )
8) Its interesting to think about how Maria fought compared to how our characters do - when she says "Some of you are clearly stronger already" its quite noticeable - everything progressed and next generations are getting even stronger
9) The inspiration for Argus is San Francisco but its pretty obvious
10) Blake brushing up to Jaune with her head like a cat
11) Jaune seems to be overcome with relief since he is still hung up about splitting from when he was forced to split with Pyrrha
12) Each member of the Arc family represents one colour of the rainbow - Jaune is yellow, Saphron is orange which is also likely why they get along so well - They are literally adjacent (The colour comes from Saffron which is the colour of her hair) - She probably refers to Sapphō of Lesbos a famous greek poet (Guess what word came from the name of the Isle of Lesbos though ;) ) - Most of her works have been preserved on shards of terra cotta pottery.

Maria appears shorter due to a common disorder in Remnant named “Old Lady Disorder” or “OLD” for short. It has been known that 50% of Older Ladies will experience a significant decrease in height during the final stage of their life. You will see another such case in the next chapter.
Going back to the Horror arc, just wondering how you think your brother will react to that arc? Calmer, about the same or worse?

@@dragon2218 yeah, but they don't lose like 40% to 60% of their height, the worst I've seen is 20%
12:17 Normally they'd use their weapons. Ruby normally recoil shoots herself up, Blake has the ribbon/string to her gun, but the Apathy can make them feel like their weapons are heavy any second, so that wasn't really an option anymore.
So in regards to the effect the Apathy have on people, if you pay attention to an affected person's eyes, they will be dilated and missing the light that's usually there, signifying the trance it puts the affected under. The Apathy has long been the favorite Grimm of one of the show's writers and showrunners, Miles Luna, who also voices Jaune, he's wanted to put it in the show for a long time, and finally got the chance to work it into the Horror Arc, as it's called. That scene with Weiss, Blake and Yang looking at Ruby with their eyes in a trance was supposed to let the audience know there's something very wrong.
What's awesome about Maria's weapon is that it utilizes Gravity Dust, and it works using polarity akin to a magnetic pull, the 2 scythe halves will pull towards each other like the positive and negative sides of magnets, that's how she's able to fly upward towards the giant Nevermore she fought in the beginning of Chapter 7, as well as pull it down towards her. Then we get to Tock the crocodile Faunus, who's inspired by Tick Tock, the crocodile who swallowed a clock from Peter Pan, hence the clock motif associated with her. I'm sure you noticed this upon editing, but the fight was, in fact, sixty seconds in total from beginning to end, which was an awesome touch. We can also assume Tock's master was Salem, since she's had to deal with wiping them out before, and Tock said that it's the eyes her master is targeting her for, which tells us just how long she's been hunting Silver Eyed Warrior for, since Maria was so young in the flashback. Going back to the present, you'll notice that Maria uses one of her scythe halves with the blade removed as her cane.
There's that shot of them on the cliff which really makes you admire how far the show has come since Volume 1, the show's graphical style, like the environments, have seen such a gradual evolution, it's an amazing thing to see the show grow on a technical level.
We finally got to meet one of Jaune's sisters, Sapphire, who also serves as the first official married Lesbian character in the series, gotta love that representation!

14:03 Sign of a well written show and an active mind, that you ask that question now. The show is about to finally answer it after all, and they prompt us to really wonder just a little before.
16:50 not only a good plan, this has to be so cathartic for Weiss. Simultaneously destroying and making real use out of alcohol this way. You see her expression as she throws those bottles, there's that distinct anger and determination in her.
20:05 I love this scene/moment so much. Maria is a gem.
24:40 shoutout to Life and Death, an incredible weapon. Two linked scythes that can strongly magnetise together with each other. Absolutely badass.
26:20 Yo, the custom timer though‽ Looking sleek and with colour changes, not even slacking once. Even in the simpler things, your edits are always on point and beyond. Tock had a really cool semblance though, basically invulnerable and overpowered for exactly a minute, but at the cost of losing all her aura after.
I would have commented more on the Apathy but honestly, I've not much to add to seeing your experience of them. I love the Immersed AF moments ;)
Love the glimpse into your OC, and just like Qrow and by extension Ruby, you could adapt to have been inspired by The Grimm Reaper. Or be her descendant as you started figuring live. Maybe extended family since we don't know about her having any direct descendants? Or maybe having learned of her after establishing yourself and having a little bit of a remote rival complex? Many ways to still work ;) On the note of Also A Gun: my OC takes a note out of Weiss's book. My weapon (A long ass whip) isn't a gun, but the main cord is woven with dust-infused wire with Fire, Wind and Gravity that I switch around and use in various ways while fighting. I do have ranged attacks though, in addition to the range of the whip in general (which again I must emphasise is very long), I can crack it with its Fire aspect activated to shoot fireballs. Not quite as potent or fast as bullets, but functional. Biggest weakness is you can't really block much with a whip, my weapon is all offense and deterrence. Named it "Patience".

Oh, you should totally check out the Darksiders games! They're about the Horsemen of the Apocalypse and each game focuses on a different Horseman. Darksiders 1 follows War, 2 follows Death, and 3 follows Fury. They all have different weapons and abilities. I played the first 2 and watched the cinematics for the 3rd one and they're quite good. If you ever wanted to do a gameplay of them, I would totally watch that!
Here comes the second RWBY horseman of nightmare fuel - the apathy.
The coolest thing is the eyes:
6:02 Ruby has white highlight on her iris, but Yang's eyes are opaque. Blake and Weiss has the same highlights, but after 7:29 they are also gone! And here 7:41 Ruby closes her eyes and they become blank too.

The Apathy Grim arc is my favorite part of Volume 6. I LOVE the horror aspects of RWBY and hope they do more. Also the Apathy Grim are even scarier when you learn that Miles doesn't even mention what the Apathy DO to you once they catch you. Blake came VERY close to finding that out. He said it is too fucked up to talk about in a Crew commentary. The Apathy was an idea for a Grim they've been sitting on since before Volume 1 was written. Miles and Kerry be on some fucked up shit to come up with a monster that removes your will to live.
… please tell me they have something on the side that could really illustrate this more! That sounds like a definite horror movie in itself that I would be interested in!
@@gh0xttherebel I don't have the book myself, but I know Rooster Teeth sells an Encylopedia type book based on RWBY. I would be surprised if it didn't have information on the Apathy. They are so cool but at the same time if they were in my house, my house would be on fire too.

All the characters in RWBY are very well designed and interesting, even minor ones. But by far best girl title goes to the ice cream princess, Neo.
These are two of my favorite episodes! The Apathy are quietly terrifying and learning about Maria's history is AWESOME! I could definitely see Maria adopting you and teaching you all her ways - just don't expect her to go easy on you!

Going back to watch through this, the idea of an anti-hero esque "Demi Grimm" character still sounds *so* cool. And having a weapon like the Blades of Chaos, in tandem with telekinesis? That'd be a fantastic fighting style to see in action.
Tock (Maria's attacker) is a reference to the crocodile from Peter Pan. The one that ate Captain Hook's hand along with his pocket watch, which gave it a signature ticking sound. So that's why Tock times her invulnerability Semblance with a loud pocket watch.

Maria having Silver eyes is the one thing i guessed after seeing the op. Next time you watch it pay attention to the transition when they show Ruby then Maria. That's the only thing i guessed right. The Salem thing took me by surprise
ch.6....Blake keeps looking over at Yang, trying to get her to make eye contact. Yang just stares blankly into the fire.
7:29 i just noticed that everyone's pupils except Ruby's are super dilated, and Ruby was also the only person who seemingly wasnt tired, then immediatly after she says "i am ... really tired" and her pupils become more dilated

AHHH the fight between Maria and Tock is one of my favorites in the show! That they actually managed to keep it down to the second was awesome.
While it's already been pointed out really well about the moment between Ruby and Jaune regarding Jaune's personal trauma, I also think one thing to add is that for nearly an entire year in universe, Ruby was essentially part of Jaune's team with RNJR, so when the group split in the train, it'd be like reliving that moment when Pyrrha sent him away all over again, and so having Ruby (and the others) come back was no doubt a huge weight off his shoulders after the fear he'd had when the group split up again.

Volume 6 is my favorite volume & my favorite opening theme! They hit so many nails this volume. I can't wait for your reaction to the wonderful yeet 🤣 a couple of notes..
Tock is the faunus Maria fought & she's based on Tock from Peter Pan.
Maria uses gravity dust in her weapons & that's why they glow purple. We get more of a showing next volume of gravity dust.
Also, RWBY is SOOO good with instilling fear of all different kinds. Fear is also the main theme next volume & over the Atlas arc.

I mean technically, (as far as weapons) Qrow is Maria's "sythe-kid" and Ruby based her weapon off her Uncle, so she would be Maria's "sythe grandaughter". 😮
to me, the single most chilling, ice gripping my heart line in this show of 8 volumes is Ruby saying "I feel really tired".
- I think I'd probably take haunted house personally, only cause death by cold seems brutal, slow, and an environmental force vs. a potentially quicker ghost caused death that may be avoidable (depending on the horror franchise xD)
- Gotta love them no longer treating Qrow as "oh look comic relief drunkle Qrow", instead dipping into "let's frame this seriously; show that there's consequences to drinking; and it stemming from dark places in some people's minds"
- The eyes look and the attention to detail on the animators' part and prob writers -chef's kiss-
- The score while in the cellar sends me back to Silent Hill ngl, love that cause horror hits that hype switch in me xD
- "why is this a horror flick now", Miles Luna that's why (meant fully lovingly cause I love him doing his horror thing xD)
- Just to add to the horror: In either a Q&A or panel (I forget) it was mentioned that The Apathy's way of killing directly anyway is sinking their claws in, then "blending" the insides of their victims and that almost happened to Blake.
- Maria's dialogue/speech whatever one wants to call it, even after seeing it soooooo many times STILL gives me chills
- Now if you watch the OP again, the transition from Maria to Ruby has a reason xD
- Ep 7 is why Maria is one of many BAMF's in this show xD The scene w/ her standing on the bridge as the Nevermore's outline is in the fog = iconic. I could legit go for a "monster of the week" Maria series ngl xD
- I love Maria doing a nod towards Yang's strength, cause girl definitely deserves it and honestly needs to hear it to counter her own self-value issues. Not to mention it calling back to the barn scene with Blake, where she stumbled
- I'm going to go the Schneekos territory in that I'd put Pyrrha hugging Weiss if she were there for the reunion xD
- Happy married w/ kid wlw pairing = yeeeeeeeees and Arcotta is adorable xD
- Ruby's happy little wiggle-dance is so adorable
As for Maria's having kids, I mean its never said she doesn't nor does; given the Huntsman/Huntress lifestyle I could see her totally getting with someone on one of her hunts. So there's definitely space for an OC kid/grandkid in there

People naturally get a little shorter as they age due to loss of cartilage and the fluid between bones. Osteoporosis can also cause height loss. The cane and hunched back imply Maria has osteoporosis though she still seems shorter than what would realistically happen. A lot of cartoons exaggerate how short old characters get.

Maria is a certified goat, and don't you worry, I do that with shows too! Making characters is so fun and imagining scenarios where you interact with the characters are also fun. You gotta give us a whole character sheet just like in DND.

Ah, with relation to your Geist-hybrid character, I made a tabletop RPG system that featured the idea (mixed with pre-existing stuff like Cinder's Shadow Hand) as a 'species' or character trait, 'Dark-Blighted'. Needless to say I also think it's a cool concept!

Also seeing Saff and Tara together definitely gave Blake and Yang a good look at what they could be (personal take)
on the wanting your character to be the Grim Reaper or Jekyll/Hyde thing - Jekyll/Hyde also already exists in the world of Remnant, as the book The Man With Two Souls (the text of the book every time it's appeared across various RWBY media that isn't Chibi has been lifted direct from the novella - fiction in Remnant including this was discussed in one of the issues in the first run of RWBY comics by DC set between volumes 3 & 4)
that said - Maria pulls specifically from the modern Grim Reaper as inspiration, you could still work in inspiration from Thanatos of Greek Mythology or some other death god

If I recall, the apathy grimm are meant to represent severe depression, which can at times make it seem impossible to keep going, hence why the team was exhausted and unwilling to keep moving forward, as it were. They sure did hit the nail on the head with this one.
Uh they cause apathy. That's why they're called the Apathy. Their name is literally what they cause; apathy.
For those who don't know apathy is the desire to do nothing. It's a highly dangerous demotivation and yes it can be found in some types of depression so you're kind of right.

The character that tried to kill Mariea was based of of the crocodile that killed Captain Hook that's why she has the clock, also the reason she set the clock was becuse her semblance gives her a full minute of invinceubilty. hope this helps 😁😁

They could have used Weiss's semblance to get out. Her glyphs could be used as a ladder or stepping stones.

2. Haunted house (in a normal scenario without Apathy there)

My RWBY character would be almost basically of a copy and paste of the character ESCANOR from the show “the seven deadly sins” where during the night time I’m just a regular skinny dude but the moment the sun peaks out my power, strength, durability, speed and aura level (in the case of sticking with the RWBY theme) and the temperature of the heat I radiate, would all increase with each passing second as the sun rises; finally reaching its peak when the sun is highest in the sky, and for that one minute that the sun is highest in the sky I become the physical manifestation of invincibility.
However after that one minute is over when the sun starts to inevitably go down so does my strength and power until the sun finally sets and I return back to a normal state. My weapon like Escanor would be a giant axe that is over sized and to heavy for anyone to carry even me when I’m in my normal state and can be summoned to me when I call for it like Thor’s hammer.

Anyway, the Apathy is the favorite Grimm of writer Mikes Luna who was teasing it for several years before finally revealing it here. It was actually inspired by something in the movie Serenity from the Firefly series. After all, what’s scarier than a formidable foe is losing your own will to resist, isn’t it?
Qrow’s still coming to terms with everything he’s learned about Ozpin, and the alcohol doesn’t help.
What’s interesting about the Apathy episode is how much less Ruby us affected than everyone else. It shows you just how much of a positive attitude she constantly Carrie’s with her. Obviously, she does get influenced by it, but her state of mind is strong enough to overcome that sheer despair pushing down her companions.
Tock, the crocodile Faunus, is based on the same animal from Peter Pan, down to the clock itself.
Qrow’s weapon was inspired by Maria. Ruby’s weapon was chosen because of Qrow. We really have come full circle.
Finally, I suggest, as I said before, you just do 8 and 9 this week, since 10 starts the finale arc. Enjoy!
there’s a bit of foreshadowing in alone in the woods, the horror element make the episode so enjoyable, and it’s overall quite important to the plot. i’m glad you liked it!

All 4 of them could use their weapons and or semblance to get out of the well easily. The issue was that white light was the entrance they use and saw the enemy right there
One thing to note about the Geist Grimm (Floyd). These Grimm can only possess inanimate objects like rocks and trees (as seen in the first episode of volume 4). So that's one point for your OC that's not accurate to the lore of the show. But it could work if the Geist possessed your OC's weapon.
I know how you feel, gh0xt. Young Maria invalidated the idea I had for one of my character's weapons as well, lol. And not only that, improved on it by adding the Gravity Dust functions. I was a little upset too.
So, I normally don't comment, but as for how they planned to leave the well: Weiss has her Glyphs and Ruby has shown the ability to go vertical with her Semblance as well as bring people with her. Blake can jump off her clones, and Yang can probably jump that high or, if not, use Ember Celica for a boost. So...they weren't really lacking options to go up the well.
Even if not, Weiss glyph can work on anyone having trouble, or other stuff
@@galonski64 Yeah, I was just giving various ways each of them could make their own way out. The only one that couldn't use her Semblance to help the others get out is Yang, but she's strong enough to toss them up anyway.

Her semblance allowed her some form of invulnerability for 60s (bypass her aura, allowing her to keep fighting, even if her aura breaks)

Name: "Klyve" *Pronounced like Glide but with a K and insead of D its V at the end, havnt thought of a last name*
Dominant hand: Ambedextrious *Both hands. Like Winter, yes Winter is Ambedextrious*
Semblance: "Concretum" *In latin is Concrete in english* which forms a nearly impenitrable concrete shell around him but cannot move at all and his Weight becomes the same as the TOG-II tank *80 tons my guy* Klyve can also use it to fight by making a concrete shell around his fist.
Weapon: "Wildlife Camera" snapping pictures of most living orginisms turns them into a picture... litterally, humans and some inanimate objects arent an exception either. *Basically Leshy's camera from the game Inscryption*

Also, the idea of your character can still happen. Maybe instead of being named "The Grim Reaper", you can still base the idea off of that and everything else you thought of. I mean, Qrow just said he wanted to be like Maria. So you still can do that too.

You know, I’ve been thinking about the circumstances Team RWBY encountered the Apathy in, and how a Huntsmen would deal with a herd. If a civilian could capture two and lock them in his cellar, I think Team RWBY could have handled a herd under normal circumstances if they knew what they were up against and work out some effective strategies. But I imagine the worst place to fight a herd is in such a confined space where it is easy to get surrounded and have your few options for escape cut. Not to mention they were all physically and emotionally exhausted from their last fight, then spent several hours under the Apathy’s influence without realising. Worst time, worst place.
It’s just…the worst…and I’m tired.

Crocodile girl is based off of the crocodile from Peter Pan. Her semblance lets her have full immunity for 60 seconds then after the 60 seconds she takes all the damage at once

Things that I like myself that these episodes bring.
Love the Apathy fun grim design with abilities that send me right back to my first run through The Legend of Zelda Windwaker and its Re-Deads XD.
I also like how they start treatin Qrows drinkin problem. Less of the funny drunk uncle joke and more treatin it seriously.
Maria is a fantastic addition love her a bunch and her flashback scene is a great watch for the eyes. Gravity dust use in weapons is always nice to see.
Argus might actually be one of my fav cities in the show. Gives me a San Francisco kinda vibe would probably try to live there if I was in the world.
Saph, her Wife Terra, and son are a cute addition its really nice to meet some of Jaunes big family.
