If you lost your mind, you will find it there

I believe this to be one of Bob Dylan's finest. He has kept me going for quite a few years I am an eighty-year-old man lost down here in Mexico. I just could not make it in the state's any longer I know he will never read this but if it wasn't for him I would have already been gone thank you Bob Dylan for all your great work
Under The Volcano. One of thee saddest novels I've ever read. And Neal Cassady died along the railroad.tracks in Mexico.
@@albertmillus9637 Great comment .
I am with you my friend!!!
Keep pushin’ on!!
Some day this giant of a man won’t be around anymore. I just can’t wrap my head around that. If only I could wrap my arms around him one time to show him how much he’s meant to me. Love ya, Bobby. I’m sticking with you through and through…
Long live Bob Dylan
I try to look at the truth of life. I believe in heaven and eternity and good things to come.
Bob is our voice and he evokes that love we all carry and long to express. Even when all hope is lost He gives me hope , he is still humming his beautiful tunes after all these years 😢❤😢❤😢❤
I'd be right there with you. We're all heading to Key West.
Oh you
Sometimes when I'm having a bad day I sit alone by myself at 3am and listen to Bob Dylan, I'm 24 years old haven't even been around a fraction of the time as Dylan but something about his music reaches through all the time and space and connects with me and so many others in such a profound way I will be forever grateful for that Bob Dylan changed the way I see things forever
We've all lived during Bob Dylan's lifetime. That's some honour.
I keep hearing that comment from people of every age. Remarkable.
Indeed. That's a good way of putting it.
well said my friend. now we need to figure out what kind of world we're all going to be leaving for Keith Richards.

I first heard Bob in 1963, I was just 16, but here I realized was this guy telling me that this is another way a man could be.
This song could last forever. It starts, it flows, and it keeps running in your blood like it was part of yourself since the day you were born til the day of your death. It was already there, but we didn't knew it yet.
I love the way you have described this song. You have described exactly the way I feel when I listen to it. Thank you.

this song its a massive masterpiece. Im 29 and i didnt want to miss the opportunity of watch Bobby in live, so i was to Paris alone to watch him. It was absolutely amazing. I will never forget this day.

I lost my best friend this year, and we walked along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico many times. Thanks Bob for this song, everytime I listen to it my how the tears fall. Martin and you Bob are and always will be the best. Thank you.
The more often you hear Rough and Rowdy Ways, the deeper these songs sink into you. become a part of you. This category doesn't exist at Grammy's.
Just took a long drive with this LP playing. You're right - but this song is so majestic, it reveals itself again and again with new texture and wave. How the hell can Dylan be THIS good so late in life?
@@braybeatles1 yes it is majestic , I think it was for a long time in his head it is the sound of infinity
True, but don't worry about Grammys or Nobels or Oscars. These music, and what it bring to us, is much higher than this...
@@braybeatles1 Yes, but i think it is precisely that it is 'so late in life' that this can be written
@@gramolarevival9098 that's so very true. The warm weariness in his voice, those magical words, the warm accordion. This is such a gorgeous song of astonishing beauty.
He was in Milwaukee last night. It was amazing! He made me cry several times!
Didn’t think it was possible, but he’s improved with age. Greatest songwriter the world’s ever known imho.
Yup. In my opinion, this album has his strongest songwriting of all time. My Own Version Of You is an insanely well written song too. He’s on the top of his game
That's a big shout - but yeah I agree 👍
It's sure to get better!
I agree, I've always liked Cohen and Simon too, but Dylan is a step above for me.
Maybe not his best songwriting, he doesn’t really have a “best”’imo, amazingly written songs on every album. Leonard Cohen, Kris Kristofferson, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine are up there as well
I love the road to Key West. Way down there.
Dylan's right, he is the best.
6 stars for the best poet ever. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Can you imagine the pressure of writing good songs after winning the Nobel Prize?. Most would have cracked. But he delivered. Big time.
Just shared this song with my friend of 57 years. We’ve been following Bobby for over 50 years.

Such a masterpiece! 👍🤠
Bravo 👏 Bob!!!!!
Your English is very good. Greetings from Minnesota. Are there any Russian musicians that remind you of Bob Dylan ?
Tempest was a good album. This one is a masterpiece. One more cup of Dylan for the road. Incredible. The singer of our lives. The voice of millions.
Well said
Nailed it man.
lol I prefer Tempest, has much better melodies and lyrics.
The most remarkable thing about Dylan is that his later writing is as good as his earlier writing. Usually, even the greatest artists are unable to sustain the quality of their early years - they might still produce some really good work but the consistency isn't there. Dylan is the rare exception. He has a unique gift. Many people write well in their early years, but who else has ever sustained it for seven decades?
true, agree, however the 80s were pretty much a swale for Bob, I think...except for Jokerman, a few songs....Oh Mercy was good, but man, Under a Red Sky, Knocked Out Loaded, Empire Burlesque, et al, they weren't very consistent, at least i don't think so ....he really seemed to get it together after Man Out of Time, ever since then a nice streak, impressive....
I mean this is a great song from a great album, but almost no one would claim his later output was truly as good as his output during the 60s. Even Dylan himself, in that famous interview with 60 Minutes (I think) said that he looks back at his music from that time with awe, that he has no idea how he did it, and that he knows he can’t do it anymore. He said he doesn’t even feel like he wrote those songs, like they were just channeled through him. He referenced “It’s Alright Ma” as an example, saying he has no idea how he wrote songs that good and can’t do it anymore. It’s ok, it happens to basically every artist. His new stuff is still very good. But we shouldn’t pretend that Rough And Rowdy is Highway 61 Revisited or Blonde On Blonde.
@@therainman7777 I think that interview was from the Scorsese doc
I aint' pretending : it is as good, if not better. As artists mature ; the art develops . Give it time , so will you .@@therainman7777
This got me through the Covid pandemic
If I commented here before now, I've forgotten. I play this album everyday. Over and over. I still can't get my jaw off the floor. I play his other albums too. This is bigger than I can wrap my little head around. It's bigger and beyond. Suffice to say, I'm pretty happy.
This song is tremendous, beyond words. This song is life.

As a 59 year old lifetime Dylan fan, this entire album continues to move me beyond words. More so each listen. Especially this song for many personal reasons (and I'm certain many others share it). It's a sad time we live in when Dylan's latest masterpiece is not even considered in the 2020 Grammy awards considering the insane trash that was. This song alone has convinced me I must buy the album!
He certainly still has IT. I'm 72 and this challenges "Blood on the Tracks." Amazing stuff.
As much as this album is pure late Dylan gold I think we tend to forget just how brilliant blood on the tracks is maybe we become too familiar with some of his earlier albums surely blood on the tracks is along with his 65-66 trilogy some of the best work by any musician that's not to disregard this album it's fresh and since time out of mind I believe we have all greeted a new dylan album with pure joy and maybe a little over excitement I think history will judge Bob's body of work more objectively but hell it's a damn good album
Blood on the tracks,New York sessions were better, before it got messed with, Still my fav album though. I did like Street Legal, maybe because it was my first.

Greetings from Leipzig Eastgermany...
While in college, I woke up one morning to The Jack of Hearts. Blood on the Tracks became my favorite album. Got married in 1983. Our daughter developed brain cancer, and was treated in Boston until she died at 5 in 1998 after a year. I drove back and forth from Binghamton to and from Boston. Time Out of Mind kept me company. And then, Dylan gifted us with this. My beautiful wife passed away in August. I almost feel like Dylan was a member of my family.
I'm really sorry to hear about your daughter and your wife. One day you will reunite with them and embrace in the Lords Kingdom.

Never say never. Bullshit ! No one will come close to Dylan. NEVER. So Blessed are we that Bob had a good radio when he was a kid in Minnesota. Pick up those southern stations that resonated through his person. Funny aint it how some ignorant critics miss this genius ?
Been a huge Bob fan since my buddy Greg played me 'A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall' in the school cafeteria in Grade 9 - the poetry of that song completely blew me away and sent me down the Bob Dylan rabbit hole, where I've been happy ever since. The whole album is brilliant, but this is my favourite track by far - I could listen to this all day, preferably with that day ending in a sunset over the water somewhere. Bob Dylan is a gift for our collective soul - we're infinitely richer for having shared his time on this planet.
I've been down the rabbit hole for the same length of time as you, and I agree with every word about this album and this song. Its richness is utterly mysterious and if I miss hearing it for a couple of days it brings tears to my eyes when I hear it again.
I've grown to love Bob Dylan's output since Time Out of Mind was released.
Beautifully said you must have a poets soul

What a gift to my beautiful island Mr. Dylan. Soul stirring, mysterious and seductive. Perfect.
I agree I lived in Key West for about 5 years this is a great tribute.
Lyrics:
McKinley hollered, McKinley squalled
Doctor said, "McKinley, death is on the wall
Say it to me, if you got something to confess"
I heard all about it, he was goin' down slow
I heard it all, the wireless radio
From down in the boondocks, way down in Key West
I'm searching for love, for inspiration
On that pirate radio station
Coming out of Luxembourg and Budapest
Radio signal, clear as can be
I'm so deep in love that I can hardly see
Down on the flatlands, way down in Key West
Key West is the place to be
If you're looking for immortality
Stay on the road, follow the highway sign
Key West is fine and fair
If you lost your mind, you will find it there
Key West is on the horizon line
I was born on the wrong side of the railroad track
Like Ginsberg, Corso and Kerouac
Like Louis and Jimmy and Buddy and all the rest
Well, it might not be the thing to do
But I'm sticking with you, through and through
Down in the flatlands, way down in Key West
I got both my feet planted square on the ground
Got my right hand high with the thumb down
Such is life, such is happiness
Hibiscus flowers, they grow everywhere here
If you wear one, put it behind your ear
Down in the bottom, way down in Key West
Key West is the place to go
Down by the Gulf of Mexico
Beyond the sea, beyond the shifting sand
Key West is the gateway key
To innocence and purity
Key West, Key West is the enchanted land
I've never lived in the land of Oz
Or wasted my time with an unworthy cause
It's hot down here, and you can't be overdressed
China blossoms of a toxic plant
They can make you dizzy, I'd like to help you but I can't
Down in the flatlands, way down in Key West
Well, the fish tail ponds and the orchid trees
They can give you that bleeding heart disease
People tell me I ought to try a little tenderness
On Newton Street, Bayview Park
Walking in the shadows after dark
Down under, way down in Key West
I played Gumbo Limbo spirituals
I know all the Hindu rituals
People tell me that I'm truly blessed
Bougainvillea blooming in the summer, in the spring
Winter here is an unknown thing
Down in the flat lands, way down in Key West
Key West is under the sun, under the radar, under the gun
You stay to the left, and then you lean to the right
Feel the sunlight on your skin, and the healing virtues of the wind
Key West, Key West is the land of light
Wherever I travel, wherever I roam
I'm not that far before I come back home
I do what I think is right, what I think is best
History Street off of Mallory Square
Truman had his White House there
East bound, West bound, way down in Key West
Twelve years old, they put me in a suit
Forced me to marry a prostitute
There were gold fringes on her wedding dress
That's my story, but not where it ends
She's still cute, and we're still friends
Down on the bottom, way down in Key West
I play both sides against the middle
Trying to pick up that pirate radio signal
I heard the news, I heard your last request
Fly around, my pretty little Miss
I don't love nobody, give me a kiss
Down on the bottom, way down in Key West
Key West is the place to be
If you're looking for immortality
Key West is paradise divine
Key West is fine and fair
If you lost your mind, you'll find it there
Key West is on the horizon line

He's a masterful artist.
Love the atmosphere and the mood, the feeling of weariness, resignation and wonder. Each track on the album is more of an impressionistic reverie than a song, and that's what I love about it. One can get lost in the reverie of Key West. Don't over-think it, just experience it. Beautiful.
Just like the island it’s self what a tribute.
Absolutely doesn't bear thinking about!❤❤❤
