@@BobGymlan I tripped at the second beacon show last year and Key West blew my mind night two. I really saw the song in a much different light the way dylan presented it was unfathomable
Loved reading all the comments. I'll be honest, I didn't like this album at first, at all. But, I kept listening to it. And, It just clicked with me. It's very obvious to me that the whole album 'Rough and Rowdy Ways' is a journey from Dylan's life to now. Now the last track "Key West" is him at the end of his road and finally crossing over. What's at Key West? It's the furthest you can go in Florida. The end destination. Beyond the horizon. An enchanted place of immortality, purity.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Rough and Rowdy Ways is for sure a mature work. It’s amazing and inspirational to see a musical composer and songwriter of Dylan’s age, who’s also still a uniquely poweful performer, not only continuing to work at the level he does, but also to be exploring new creative paths and blazing fresh territory. There are songs on this album, like Mother of Muses, that I don’t think Dylan would or could have written earlier. At least as an artist, he’s so capable of grounding himself in and working in the present, while drawing on the entirety of his experiences that came before. All the hard-fought-for wisdom and self-knowledge he’s wrestled with and accumulated over the years are here in this album, as you also suggested with your observations about the album. “Got a mind to ramble, got a mind to roam, I’m a-travelin’ light, and I’m a-slow comin’ home I can’t help but shiver, hearing those lines. But Dylan sounds at full peace with this stage in his life.
That is a v.good description. I've been into Bob's music for a long time, but also had spells when I couldn't see through/find relevance in the songs. I caught up with him at Wembley Arena, 2003 - everything became so clear to me. Personally. Never a day passes without listening Bob : Life really has picked-up!
Thrilled that I got to see him in LA . Hollywood Pantages Theatre with my daughter. Who now 31 and listening to all of Dylan's past albums from the early years to now. Took awhile but now she's a Dylan true fan like her father. Thank you Bobby. She's hooked. Now understands why I made her listen to him since her childhood.
Maybe not old or tired just on his journey home like Odysseus after the Trojan War. I'm right behind him pushing him along to the finish line. IT'S A RAT RACE OUT THERE. HOME TO SOLITUDE.❤❤❤❤❤
"I'm searching for love and inspiration, on that pirate radio station." This single, opening line of the second verse, one could argue, neatly sums up Dylan's entire life and career.
Tears in my eyes as I listen to this wonderful rendition. Tears for the passing of the years - tears for the recognition of Truth as portrayed by Bob, whom I always return to.
Hopefully, Bob will come to Europe soon so that I may have the chance to go and see him again. Until then I'll keep watching your great videos! Thank you (again) so much!
Amazing how even now Bob can replicate the studio version and most of the time still searching for that bit of magic. Love this amazing footage. Thank you!
You're welcome! I thought I deleted the other one earlier - oops on that, too. I'm glad you'll get to see him. The shows in November were magnificent. I've seen Dylan in concert over 200 times since 1974 and I honestly have to say that last fall's concerts as well as one I saw in 2019 were among the finest I've ever seen! It's mind-boggling that after so many years, and at his age, Dylan is still finding new ways to get even better!
BOB'S never lived in Oz, he's lived in our hearts though..lovely performance, great phrasing and always uplifting even on the sad tunes.Behind every beautiful face there's been some kind of pain.
So wonder how do you do it.? Perfect high quality filming when not even pictures are allowed? Glad you manage to sneak in the cameras though so I get to see him up so close it’s like I’m in the front row.Happy to see him smiling and enjoying himself. As always he gives us the gift of his authentic self, the icon who is BOB DYLAN,a man surrounded by holiness who changed the world . His age is just another stage in his ever changing evolution. May he be forever young.
Great comments about Bob. And I’m glad you’re enjoying the video. I hope you’re watching others on the channel as well. 😀 It takes a lot of planning, effort, and some luck to get these, but I’ve had a lot of practice over the years. I’ve shot about 75 concerts since the first one in 1989, although with a 17-year hiatus since the last of those, getting back to it in 2021 was definitely more of a challenge. I don’t want to say more for now about how I manage it, in case I get more chances. Some people have suggested I write a book about my experiences videotaping, which I hope to do some day. I’ll be happy to share my secrets then after I put the camera away for the last time. Meantime, I still have roughly 100 hours of footage from all those shows to go through and edit into uploadable videos. So please check back often 😁
Absolutely one of my favorite songs. I try to listen to it at least once a day..After listening closely, I feel like I did as a youngster after receiving Communion. Wait a minute, am I saying there is a bit of divine in Bob? Oh yeah. How lucky we are to be sharing the time with him. Don aka Fiasco
“How lucky we are to be sharing time with him.” Indeed! I still remember the moment when I was 16 in 1973 and first said, “Thank you, God, for letting me be alive at the same time as Bob Dylan.”
Bob Dylan’s voice and piano sound magnificent. The power of his band mates combine to produce the music of a beautiful landscape.❤️❤️❤️ Arthur Artist presents “Casper Collection” 4.2k. Thank you so much.🌞
You’re very, very welcome. I’m glad you’re enjoying seeing and hearing this great performance by Bob. I love being able to share these testaments to his boundless talent and creativity with other people who love Dylan’s work like I do. ☺️
I can listen to this treasure again and again. Is it possible finding this wistful world.......not only Geminis are vacillating between hope and despair.
You’re very welcome! I love being able to share these with other fans. I have a few more 2021 song performances from the Providence, RI, show that I’m working on now to upload soon. 😁

My fav lines. 12 years old they put me in a suit forced me to marry a prostitution. ...that's my story but not how it ends. She's still cute and we're still friends!
"Very much more than the sum of its parts" is almost the only thing that can be said of this extraordinary song. I would only add that from a purely 'literary technical' standpoint, he has used a very limited vocabulary cunningly chosen to bear a considerable degree of repetition while carrying at all times the subtle rythym of the song.
Who knows is Bob singing old Numbers on rrw tour too? Is it a minimal chance on things like dont think twice , vision of Johanna and others to listen on RRW european? Or no chance?
Thanks, Jane. I will soon - probably tomorrow. I have a couple of other thoughts I can share there. I’ve been having a hard time keeping up with a lot of things lately, and haven’t been spending much time on Dylan Facebook activities. Hoping to get back in the swing of things soon.
The only way the song could be better is if he did it with a cha-cha or other Afro-Cuban rhythm... (having grown up there and listened to Havana radio stations at night)
Love of my life, keeper of the secrets we share, I hope you still have a copy of my poetry collection, " Through Ages & Stages " that you proofread at the Best Western in Warren, Ohio after we met at the gazebo in Warren, Ohio in 79, & you received the published copy in 1999 in Cleveland, Ohio ....I have a copy of your 1st publicized book, " TARANTULA "..We can Philosophize & join our talents....if you wish...
How in the HECK did you get this video and audio quality? I was there on the 19th at the Beacon and security was tight. Mic and Cam combo under the vest?
He’s evidently been having back problems for a few years now, which is why from 2018 to 2019 there was a noticeable drop in how much time he spent standing and singing onstage vs seated at keyboard or piano. Last fall he stood a bit more in the early shows but hardly at all by later in the tour. Other than that he seemed okay. His voice sounded very strong. Considering Dylan was 80 when he resumed touring last fall and is now 81, I don’t think he seems especially frail for his age - other than back-related problems that show when he’s standing and walking.
@@ArturArtist He does very well for this age and still active performing. Had just noticed her was a lil hunch back. Would love if he would perform with his son. While I am wishing it would be great if he did an "interview" lol. He's one of they great legends still with us. Thanks,
You’re not the 1st to notice. But only thr 2nd to point it out, I think. Once the final edit of the video is encoded and uploaded it’s not easy to fix. Meanwhile it serves as an indicator of how many viewers even notice the opening titlesz Based on how many people post comments asking when and/or where a video is from, it appears not many! Congrats on being among the discerning few. 😁

Altogether I have about 100 hours of Dylan concert footage I shot at 75+ shows from 1989-2004, plus 2 from 2021. To me the greatest song from Rough And Rowdy Ways
It may be. I can’t disagree.
Easily.
Not until he got it on the road and showed it the life it deserved
