- Daiquiris are delicious. So delicious that we decided to go down to New Orleans and try to get our hands on as many different flavors as we could. But as you can see in the video, the drink comes in a near endless variety and we could barely scratch the surface. We had fun trying, though.

I love how the U.S.A have found a loop whole in drinking on the streets. However it makes me appreciate being able to drink a beer in public in the UK. For you guys in the states i love how its a Daiquiri, the combination of that and the hot weather must be awesome.
"Loop whole", what's that? 🤔
It’s the British spelling of loop hole.
Love this video on the art of the New Orleans daiquiri from VICE!
imagine the amount of drunk drivers there are in New Orleans
Imagine but there isn't because we can drink whenever
After living here for a while and witnessing the driving, there's probably a ton
Damn I miss New Orleans...not the weather but the culture is great
Well guess who's in the mood for a daiquiri now
+Carlos Saavedra Henry Kissinger?
who?
+Carlos Saavedra Idk, you said guess
Me
YAAASSSSS! NOLA does it right :) Thanks VICE for this short on daqs! The best being the drive thru daiquiri shops
my dad was telling me about when he was in high school and used to go through the drive through ABC stores. Cant do that anymore.
Screw Vegas, I'm going here for my 21st. I may already be legal to drink in Alberta, but we sure as hell don't have drive through frozen daquiri shops.
Vegas sucks don’t come here lol
@@briancooley8777 I'm 27 now, and the last time I even left Alberta was almost 10 years ago. With this dumb pandemic, it looks like I'm not gonna be visiting the States any time soon either, as much as I'd like to. >.
@@mrbigmouth502 I was going to ask how your 21st went in New Orleans but I guess you stayed in Alberta. What did you decide to do for your 21st? I had some good times in Louisiana when I was there. I'd recommend hitting it up, especially if you know someone there like i did. The south is is amazing, though i can only compare it to the west coast and east coast of U.S..... Definitely go south. People are real.
This video made me wanna go back to visit NOLA again so bad. Loved the food, the people and the being able to drink in the streets and on the trolly and in pretty-cabs was great! Too bad we can't drink like that here in Wisconsin, even if we are a state known for it's drinking.
One of my favorite go-tos when I was in school at LSU! The Peach Bellini 🤤🤤
Awesome Vid. VICE keep shining...
im from Louisiana in the lafayette area and there daiquiris drive thru everywhere xD
Love daiquiris I got my inspiration to start my daiquiri business from Houston Texas shout out to my peeps out there H town! Big up New Orleans for perfecting it. 🍹
Thanks Vice for doing a good job with this story from the SOUTH!! Not just any of our great places. But The Big Easy!
Orleans has such a rich history and the people their sure reflect it.
I did not hear anyone say it.
We used to get the famous "HURRICANE" . Pat O'bryans the place to be before a hurricane hit. Drink up! Got me alot of love for Nawlins!
lol that one fancy dude was kinda a daiquiri snob. Dude knew his facts though. Great video vice.
Can i get a gallon of the fuck i just shit my pants?
Amazing short!
I glad he mentioned that it can't be punctured by the straw. A lot of times they will put tape "over" the hole where the straw goes and as long as it's not "punctured" then technically you aren't drinking and driving.
Great doc
The entire state has a daiquiri culture. It's part of life everywhere in this state. You buy them life icee's, and you can even get them thru drive-thrus.
I have been there the test tube shots are so good xD
you're gonna go far in life, my friend.
Keepin the spirit alive bro
Finally! A good Vice video not on HBO!
Open Container Laws are placed on every city in the USA with the exception of New Orleans and Las Vegas... some cities do allow partial open container laws ( meaning its legal during certain holidays, hours, or events) but most do not.
this is so beautiful , when i was much younger i took a train ride down to nola from LA for a few months, my cousin took me to one of those drive throughs and bought me a 190 octane , to this day when i go to vegas i stop at fat tuesdays first and get a 190 octane.
Good stuff
I genuinely enjoyed the "Hand Grenades" in New Orleans when i was there! ROCKING stuff!!!
Here in Houston they give you the slushie in a cup + alcohol in a packet to mix on your own (in the parking lot).
OH GOSH I NEED ONE RIGHT NOW!
we be baptized up in a daiquiri down here
FINALLY vice comes to my city.... but they do it on daiquiris -_____-
That was refreshing.
I love New Orleans such a beautiful city.
Darn it, now I really need to try one of those!
That bartender in the white jacket looks so much the german actor from Django/Inglorious Basterds
anywhere in louisiana pretty much. there are like 8 in lafayette alone. but yeah, they are everywhere
yep. here in new orleans, the malls and even the zoo sells beer/daiquiris
I love being in Nola, shout out to my whole family !
same thing in the u.s, but in Britain you can have open drinks on the streets at a certain time (maybe).
I hhaven't heard of it, I'd love to try it.
We still do that dude. Some things never get old
gotta get that drive through! Oh man!
I love New Orleans.
What, I love daquiris! But when I went to New Orleans, I didn't even know this was a thing. now I wanna go back!
I don't drink personally, but the whole slushie concept is a dinger.. That's a pretty good idea.
Nice video. The best daiquiri I had in New Orleans was called "The Cajun Storm". It had 151, dark rum, grain alcohol and gin. It'll get you turnt up and tore down.
In Columbia, MO we have Trops(Tropical Liqueurs) with the same premise. When it comes to the daiquiri explosion in NOLA I figure it started with snoballs that people added booze to? The Saint, love it haha. Went there one night, and watched a bunch of barely legal kids do lines of coke out on the patio like it's no biggie... Gotta love NOLA!
I really want to go and have a look what's going on in New Orleans, seems like a good time. Kind of reminds me of Key West.
God I want a drink now.
Ya see, I liked this... this was good.
Just moved to Shreveport from Lafayette and they do have plenty of daq shops up here, but I wouldn't say more. They even name them after South Louisiana culture, "Big Easy Daiquiris" and "Cajun Daiquiris."
god those drinks look good. i want a drive through Daq place here in Seattle
LOL at 00:42 Sure promotes Drinking and driving
Among the better material being produced by VICE these days. A mini-docu about slush.
This is really New Orleans, I used to live an hour from it and have visited it numerous times. The daiquiris aren't only popular in NO as well.
Vice, covering New Orleans hipsters for Brooklyn hipsters. FOAD
I don't drink much, at all actually, I've had maybe 10 drinks in my entire life but... this piece made me wanna try a Daiquiri. It reminds me of like, electronic cigarette juices. Everyone makes their own flavors with their own ingredients/recipes. And they're wittily named- Unicorn Blood, Krankenberry, even Fruit Blend #357. Just an interesting culture.
Makes me miss living in shriveport
Why is the rum always gone? I don't know how I settled on rum as my booze of choice but I am happy with it. Would be great to buy huge Daiquiris for cheap up here though.
Miss New Orleans
Yaaasssss! I'm tweaking for on now
I remember the first time I visited Louisiana being 21... As everyone was leaving the bar I had about 3/4 of an unfinished long island iced tea. Not knowing the laws I threw away my 8 dollar drink, and dammit I was pissed! I was even more pissed to find out YOU COULD WALK OUTSIDE WITH YOUR DAMN DRINK!!!!! Gotta love it!
I love Louisiana. I have endless fond memories of my childhood there. But New Orleans has become Tijuana without needing a passport for entry. :/
First 20 seconds…. Sounds good to me!
pretty cool
"VICE: The definitive guide to enlightening information"
god damn now I want one :(
If you want to realy see some partying and drinking come down for the bayou classic. Its football, drinks, and partys, so vice come visit again
sooo, I'm moving to nola!
Come on down I'll buy you the first round🍸
I have to go to New Orleans and drink daiquiris!
ive lived in louisiana my whole life and had no idea other places didnt have drive through daq shops. yall need to come check it out. oh, if you go to N.O. get a frozen handgrenade. that's where its at! keep your cup. its a dollar off your next one
Yes it is.
Im glad to be from Louisiana,,,Nola rules!
That's true. Northern Louisiana supposedly has even more Daiq Shops than Southern Louisiana.
I want one. I want one now
I'm from New Orleans. Yes, daiquiris are some of the best and cheapest alcoholic drinks.
oh god I want one so bad
I'd like to go there, where would you recommend other than New Orleans?
We shall praise the Flying Spaghetti Monster now.
Now I want one.
I'm drinking MA jungle juice right nah 😂
0:09 This man's life is riveting.
that shit's common, man...my best friend owned one for a few years.
Anyone know the name of the opening track?
Too bad, we don't have drive-thru liquor here in Tennessee. Massive cups of liquor and a large heavy vehicle go well together imo.
Who could dislike this
whats the song in the beginning of the video?
Video kept jumping around with false time signatures. Wth UA-cam
They even make mention to Cuba and Hemingway. Should have done it in Key West.
Mmm, Strawberry Daiquiri *drools*
I remember a place in Germany that did these. Was pretty sweet/
that dude in blue and the barman were pretty knowledgeable
Drive through liquor stores are common on Miami Beach...
i want one now! :(
I want a piña colada nos, thanks vice
You can drink on the streets in most cities, but like they said in the video, it has to be in a bag or a cup. No cans or bottles. You can't get be hammered though.
oh
Do somebody know the any names of the songs?
I have been to Key West multiple times and live in an area surrounding New Orleans. Key West Daqs are nothing compared to what is in New Orleans. Not to mention you can find them on nearly every corner in New Orleans downtown area.
