Loving Vinder. Such a good character.
When Vinder's comment of "I took an oath. I swore my loyalty to our constitution. Not to any one person." I immediately thought of Alexander Vindman, retired United States Army lieutenant colonel who was the Director for European Affairs for the United States National Security Council (NSC) who got in trouble for doing *exactly what Vinder did* - reported a problem concerning a meeting "at which Sondland asked Ukraine to launch investigations into the Bidens in order to get a meeting with President Trump. Vindman states that Bolton cut the meeting short, and that both Vindman and Hill told Ambassador Sondland that his comments were inappropriate and reported their concerns to the NSC's lead counsel." The fact that Serving Commander Inston-Vee Vinder of Kasto-Winfer-Foxfell is so similar to real-life Alexander Vindman's name makes me think Chibnall is making a direct reference to that recent real-life incident.
I really like Vinder, but it’s hard to tell how much I like is Vinder and how much is the actor. He’s so likable! Jacob Anderson I believe.

There's something a little bit reminiscent of the "Key to Time" saga with Flux
I think it's the very different settings per episode but still working with the same overall story arc.
Is it just me that thinks mandips got a lot more talent than she can show as yasmine, she has a strong presence portraying these other people in vinders past...

When I first saw clips of Vinder in the promos it reminded me of some other character but I couldn't recall just what or where from. Then it dawned on me that he bears a slight resemblance to David Lister on "Red Dwarf". Part of it is the casual wearing of the uniform. A uniform you have had for so long and been wearing daily that you long ago stopped with the formalities and got lazy with the dress uniform. Plus the hair short dreads that should have been cut off and removed ages ago. I almost expect him to start complaining about vindaloo.
Vinder would get it.
If vinder was on mission log 21k and each log is a day he spend about 57 years on the outpost, doesnt look much aging ocurred heh? And him saying: "A tardis? Didnt know they really existed. I thought they were myths." Or something like that. And the fact Bel said something about his face changing. Could this mean that Vinder is a timelord?
Or an Alien that lives long and changed his face cuz he works for the military.

My crazy theory is that the unborn child is the Timeless Child (supposedly also the Doctor), that would make Vinder and Bel the parents of the Doctor. And they’re originally from a different dimension

Love Vinder and Bel. Here's my thinking. And please note, it's only a theory thus far. Bel and Vinder are the Doctors parents. Due to the events of the Flux, they send their child through the Time Vortex, hiding the child (The Doctor) in the same way the Doctor hid Vinder, Dan and Yaz. Though this time the Mouri or the Time Vortex sends the Doctor (as a newly born baby) to Gallifrey as a child, setting off the events of Doctor Who up unto now.
Now, as the Doctor grows up on Gallifrey, they keep discovering about them being the Timeless Child. But each time the Doctor gets close to discovering, they have their mind wiped (in the same way Donna had hers wiped.) Ruth, who discovers about the Timeless Child, gets her mind wiped and in a forced regeneration becomes Hartnell. Although in this instant, Hartnell recalls enough to run away, but he doesn't recall why.
Side note, The Master goes mad, not only because of the drums but out of the frustration that each time they manage to tell their childhood friend, The Doctor, the truth, the Doctor gets their mind wiped.
As the Doctor has said previously, they are going home, the long way round. We have assumed The Doctor meant Gallifrey when in reality, it's been about finding family, specifically her mother and father.
The Doctor isn't simply running away, but running to their parents, trying to be a family once more.
Eventually, in a River Song and Amy, "I'm your daughter" style moment, the Doctor will figure it all out and tell Bel and Vinder that their child is safe and it's her.

I could see that but I don’t think the Fugitive Doctor is pre Hartnell. I still think she is between 2 & 3
@@fdr8343 Sadly, it can't be that. The Fugitive Doctor sealed away the Ravagers and the guards at the start said that they'd been sealed away 'since time began', which has to be way before Hartnell. While the whole TARDIS as police box thing is a continuity error, there really isn't a way for the fugitive Doctor to be from within the main canon and keep any sort of time scale going. Plus, the Timeless Child was obviously from before the founding of the Time Lords, so ... has to be from somewhere before Hartnell and probably long before Hartnell. But, hey, let's all just pray for a retcon! :)

@ Christian Standing The Doctor cant be sent back to Gallifrey as a new born baby as we have seen that the TC was discovered by Techteun on a different planet. You'd need something in-between to explain that bit...

I actually enjoyed Doctor Who characters for the first time in years. These two were great but a real shame they'll only be in it for a few more episodes. Would gladly have them over you know who.......

The Flux reminds me of when Mantrid consumed the light universe in Lexx.
Absolutely loved these two! I really hope Bel and Vinder eventually find each other... they deserve to be happy together with their soon to be born child! Jacob Anderson and Thaddea Graham played their roles so well, their performances were brilliant in this episode and I can't wait to see more from them!
I'm a little scared that Bel's child is gonna end up being the Doctor. It would be such a waste to set up all of this new mystery around the Doctor's origin, only to reveal it so soon after.
I'm really enjoying this season. Last time I enjoyed this show was in season 9

Bel is cute and a very promising character indeed. Though I did guess straight away that she was looking for Vinder.

@@polarwarfare8522 Completely agree. In the old days of Who, there were plenty of alien friends and allies. Alien companions included the Doctor's own granddaughter Susan, fellow Time Lord Romana (Two incarnations BTW), alien genius from another Universe Adric, beautiful alien aristocrat Nyssa of Traken and Orion exile Turlough. The audios have had the likes of C'Rizz and the comics have had Destrii and Kroton the Cyberman. Even the newspaper had Ssard the Ice Warrior. The only alien companion in the New Series so far is Nardole. Maybe Astrid Peth counts. Other non human allies include Ood Sigma, Ohila, Strax and Madame Vastra. There is a distinct lack of alien companions in the New Series thanks to Davies' not caring about the Zogs of Zog as he put it. I blame RTD for this and hope he tries alien companions in his new era. I know. I'll write him a letter.
The way the split screen was done at the end was a very cool way of doing it
Bel Is a really cool character From Doctor Who.
The fact that the Daleks AND Cybermen in the story was extra EPIC!
Everybody gets to keep they're accent! Love it! Thadea and Jodie have sexy accents!
Loved these characters! Great additions! And Thaddea Graham is so beautiful!
I liked these two characters a lot! I'd happily see them again as space people the Doctor occasionally runs in to.

Vinder, the exiled boy who stands for the right things no matter what. That's so sexy of him.
And Bel - her facial expressions, skills and playfulness captivated my heart. She's determined and optimistic. Overall, such a cutie!

Bel is a badass. It's so awesome that "love" is the mission. And Vinder is someone we can really admire in today's American politics where one party is becoming that kind of government and a blind cult of personality that screams at wokeness and the general good that shows like Doctor Who stands for. Love is the mission and a promise.

Doctor's parents, just saying
So Chibs baby, why did the Daleks neck bins turn when they turned their heads, why did the Cyberman chat about battle plans after he was shot, and why did the Ravagers destroying millions of people within the Passengers get no reaction when doing the same with one person got a huge one?
I enjoyed the episode but those bits were weird. Answers on a postcard please.
I'm confused why the Ravagers even bothered to kidnap Diane. To them, Dan is a nobody and nether is she. What is the point of provoking Dan and giving him a reason to stay in this fight?
The Cyberman was probably just lonely, feeling a bit down after being defeated so easily and fancied a chat. Cybermen are people too - well sort of, half people, part people? 😁😁😂😂😋

It doesn't matter how many videos of the new series you put up and how many actors say how wonderful it is, I don't think it will stop the viewing figures from going down.
the viewing figures are irrelevant though. Especially since Doctor Who is still doing well against a lot of it's competition. The first two episodes were BOTH the second most watched on the day they aired which is very strong. But just ignore the context... it doesn't fit the narrative does it? And they're even more irrelevant when you consider that Doctor Who is literally guaranteed for the next few years so how it does, doesn't matter anyway - it doesn't change the fact it is doing well though.
The viewing figures have been going down since Moffat's run. TV has changed and people watch TV less. In fact, if you look at the seven day average Doctor Who is still doing well. Not many shows get over 5M views nowadays. 5M is a good result. DW has been one of the most watched TV shows throughout the past weeks. Of course it is probably highly popular on BBC iPlayer as well.

Doctor is always watched on more platforms than just cable, it’s watched on HBO Max, Amazon Prime and a few other places. Doctor Who is still popular maybe not as much as a Marvel Movie but it’s still an incredibly popular show with history going back to the 1960s!
An epic love story between two characters we have barely met or know anything about. (And who we probably will never see again after this.)

If Vinder and Bell are the Doctor's parents the show is officially unsavable, may as well cancel the show permanently, no chance to revive it if this is the case so my fingers are crossed. Chibnall has destroyed the show already, this would make it so much worse. Forget Doctor Who, we should call it, 'Doctor Who Cares'

@@justsomerandomguyonline1144 That's simply false. Smith's era kept a majority of the fanbase once Tennant left. Once Capaldi came in, things did start to go downhill, but since he got very strong consolidated viewers on a consistent basis, the show was not in complete chaos. Since Whittaker, viewers have dropped from about 10M consolidated to now just over 5M consolidated. Whittaker is only getting 1 - 1.2M consolidated, whereas Capaldi was getting 2 - 2.5M. That's a massive drop. The Timeless Child arc is definitely a factor behind that, and I think the fans that have left would definitely agree with me on that. Not only that... the writing is terrible and the actors can't act, so... that is probably the main reason, rather than this new arc. I'll give you that.
@Tom Meehan The viewing figures for The Eleventh Hour was 10.09 million and when The final episode The Big Bang aired The viewing figures were 6.70 million. Throughout an entire Series the show lost 3.39 million viewers. Even after one episode the show lost 1.67 million viewers when The Beast below aired. I remember back when Doctor Who used to get 14 million viewers(Voyage of the Damned)

Ah yes, the two least interesting and most irrelevant characters in all of flux. I like the idea but flux was already so crowded and really didn’t need these two constantly appearing, wish they got their own individual episode instead.
