Love everyone explaining them seriously and there’s John bishop describing them as “one has a blue head one has a red head”😂😂😂
Really sounds like he just walked onto set as an onlooker when he said that 😂
I love what John Bishop has brought to this series. It reminds me of the effect Catherine Tate had. Maybe it's to do with the skills comedians bring, I don't know. But I like it.
He's good at this
@@Petrolosis what the point of being alive?
@@alexengland-shinemercy yeah my thoughts exactly Donna is my favourite companion and Dan is quickly becoming one of my favourites I mean evil Dan helps 😂
"He can predict what everyone going to do, a master technician"

lmaoooooooooo
Evil dan can take the both of them, he's good at this
"What's the point of being alive?"
"I'll take all your soup."
Ha ho!
Imma wok right outta here
All’s fun and games until the ravages come after his soup…the last words they ever hear are:
“Nobody need soup more than me!”
I don’t think Chibbs has created monsters as creepy and intriguing as them. Definitely the best of his era.
Better late than never
@@Petrolosis agreed
@@Petrolosis Hopefully he's on a streak that can be picked up to redeem after the shaky bits, maybe the Chibnall era's end will be golden after all.
@@Petrolosis I don’t think his monsters have been terrible, but there haven’t been any standout ones like other series has
Everyones forgotten about the Kasaavin haven't they?
Sam Spruell and Rochenda Sandall were both so perfectly cast as Swarm and Azure respectively! Fantastic performances! I can't wait to see more! I do think by the time flux is done that Swarm and Azure will be some of my favourite villains in Doctor Who!
"One's got a blue head, one's got a red head... They'll have no heads when I'm done with them." -Evil Dan

@@rhysy.454 ha ho
Whats the reason of beeing alive?
Get off with yous.
Scared me there
I love their designs, and I'm especially enjoying Swarm (Sam Spruell's doing a great job so far), but I'm waiting until the end of all this before I fully judge Swarm and Azure. I'm getting a strong impression that Swarm has some kind of link with the Master; he just reminds me of the Master so much in terms of personality.
Do you get an impression he is connected to Flux? I hope not but that seems possible..God, I hope not the Master again.
@@leif1075 Yeah my first thought was 'Please don't let this turn out to be the Master' lol. Not that I don't love the Master but ... I'm pretty sure Chibnall wouldn't want to be remembered as the showrunner who couldn't think of anything else to do for his last season :)
@@DjurDjinZabugen yea bringing the master back for spyfall was already overkill i thought..and undid Missy's redemption arc i think
Literally the best 13 era villains alongside Ashad and the Master. Can't wait to see more of them!
I 10p% agree, (except the master, hated him)
Each showrunners most memorable creation
Russel T Davies: Slitheen?
Steven Moffat: Weeping Angels
Chris Chibnall: Ravagers
For RTD I'd say ood tbh
Technically the ravages started out in big finish. Chibnall just brought them to life
@@thechillindude4478 no not the same
@@thechillindude4478 same name as the Ravagers from the ninth doctor adventures, but they arent the same.
Slitheen lol.
Got to admit when I first saw swarm I thought he was Paul bettany 😂
Yesss I didnt notice. Their voices are similar. I hope he joins DW one day.
As if doctor who could afford him, save some of that budget for cgi
Finally someone like me.
Me and my mum said the same thing
That’s exactly what I was thinking the man sounds exactly like Jarvis/vision
I am really really into these villains. Their design is Scary/Swagged out. The way they strut around and play with killing people. It's a delight whenever they are on screen.
They look like something Tom Baker or Peter Davison would fight, as opposed to 13, but it's interesting as a design. Only the soundtrack and scripts are lacking in Jodie's past few episodes, hopefully the whole series is good. (ik there's been one episode, I counted prior series)
Yeah I think I might love them more than any other villains. And I so need a dress based on each costume! Really hope there's a warm weather version, so many beautiful things seem to be designed for cold winters. Though it has been colder here in Florida than Manchester recently.
@@SStupendous in what way do you feel the scripts were lacking? I just rewatched the last series and I quite enjoyed everything, even the first two episodes and I loathe the Bond franchise.
@@aprildawnsunshine4326 Dunno what James Bond has to do with anything. I simply dislike Chibnall's writing, bland characters and dialogue, and mainly poor stories. But I DID say this is a nice change and a mark to keep going by, but thanks for condemning me for having an opinion. There's a reason NewWho recieved its ever-lowering viewing figures from the late-Capaldi era onwards. But the new characters seem better and Yaz is being developed, hence why I think this series will be much better.
Gotta look your best when destroying reality
I really like them. Best villain in a long time. Their costumes are bedazzled, I love it.
Yup. All time great villains
The makeup and costume work is among the best I've ever seen, not just in Doctor Who but in all media
I ageee the reflective ness on the crystals also work and looks brilliant
Who paid you? It literally looks like a student did it! It's easily the worst I've seen in years.
Not the best in all media but certainly good
@@activatehalo7763 what on earth makeup have you seen if this is bad
They have the most awful designs of every NuWho villain ever made.
This was a great BTS, we learned a lot about the time temple and I just love the Ravagers, they’re brilliant Who villains, the costumers and actors must be absolutely loving it.
Part of me wants to know who Swarm is, the other part actually quite likes that we're as clueless as the Doctor and everyone else is
Chris Chibnall in the media package released before chapter one already said:
'They are a couple of characters who we meet, who are creatures of another dimension who have a history with the Doctor - but I even think with this I am giving too much away!'
Very impressed with this series so far. An overarching villain is the perfect fit for Chibnall's writing style.
Not with the dreadful tsim shaw
I hope so, he's not great at Sci-Fi at all, though a good mystery writer, so hopefully he can make better scripts now.
I hope we find out they have deeper motivations, craving death and destruction is super generic but I'll say I really like their designs and their menacing presence
I’m being deadly serious the Swarm and Azure are the best villains since the 80’s. The two actors Sam and Rochenda have amazing screen presence and are terrifying! Cannot wait to see more of them. Great work doctor who
Yes, that's it, their screen presence is outstanding. I've heard criticism that the characters are a bit generic, I don't see it myself and even if true the actors exude such charism and life into the part, it makes for compelling viewing.
Um okay, nice opinion.
@@activatehalo7763 Pretty sure they mean best new villains, and TBH NuWho has pretty slim pickings there for a 17 year long run. Ya got the weeping angels, the Vashta Narada, the midnight creature, the silents... And that's about it for memorable great NuWho created villains... Ya got the Ood too, but they aren't really villains, so I don't count them.
Eitherway, we'll have to see what they do with these two, but so far so good. My only complaint, and it's barely a complaint, is that for beings from another universe they seem to function near identically to the Kastrians from Hand of Fear, which is certainly not a bad thing imo, but makes this other universe a tad less mysterious if it can produce beings very similar to ones in the main universe. But we've only seen a little bit of them so who knows what will be done with them/what things about them we don't know.
Literally what
Feeding on chaos by altering time is giving me strong Trickster vibes. Who the tenth doctor did fight with the SJA gang.
Sam Spruell 😙👌 Elevates every scene he's in. His performance is definitely my standout highlight of Flux so far. As my wife puts it: he makes stillness work for him. Superb!
Their fancy clothes have such a resemblance to the yellow, embroidered outfit the timeless child has on when arriving on Gallifrey. I am so excited to see where all of this goes. Also I want to know about that house at the beginning scene of episode 2.
THEIR fancy clothes...
Swarm and Azure are interesting and intriguing characters, both very well portrayed with fantastic makeup and costumes.
In my opinion, they're gonna turn into two of the most powerful monsters of DW. Love them.
Nah, very generic villains, and awful makeup.
@@thedoctorgeneric5007 OK. So, tell me 3 villains who could kill them.
@@so1opiniao I wasn't debating how powerful they are, I was commenting on how generic they are.
Swarm is honestly too cool.
I honestly see him against 11
@@so1opiniao sutehk, Omega, and probably the master considering how many times he’s ended the universe or rewritten it entirely
Azure is evil but, let's confess, she's beautiful!
I keep expecting everyone who meets her to tell her how fabulous she is. ☺️
And Swarm has got that Sexiness.
Swarm and Azure are brilliant, I'd like to know more about the other guy, Passenger, very mysterious he is!
I hadn't been concerned about infinite regenerations so much as the Master's ability to singlehandedly destroy the Citadel and defeat the rest of the Time Lords seemingly without raising a sweat, when the combined might of all the Daleks couldn't do it. Why is nobody outraged about *that*?
Putting aside that Gallifrey was almost destroyed by the Master in Deadly Assassin (hell it almost got conquered by Sontarans) it started off at the height of its power when the Daleks attacked. After the War, End of Time, Day of the Doctor and Hell Bent, Gallifrey was a lot weaker. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a good idea, there's no weight to destroying it again. But logistically the Master could do it if the Dr's not around to save them.
What I've enjoyed about the actors playing the ravagers is they're playing it up, a bit of hammy but enough seriousness that just makes them facinating.
you are joking, right?
Did you notice that they didn´t mention the third one "Passenger" at all? Either he is not a Ravager which makes me ask "Who or what is he" or he has an important role in an upcoming chapter they don´t want to talk about yet.
In a TV spot I've seen he seems to have a huge role.
Evil Dan is our only hope.... Ha hoo
Alright lads im looking for the pier head
Dang, I seriously read the name "Ravagers" on the wiki initially with no context and thought that they were from the 9th Doctor Adventures audio dramas brought over to the TV show! XD Still, really like these two all the same. Looking forward to what they do next, particularly with Swarm's line of wanting "to reign in hell!"
Some of the best, original villains of the current era. And it's funny how the name of their species weren't revealed in the first two Chapters.
Swarm and Azure are two of the most interesting villains I've seen to hit Dr Who in a long while. The costumes are stunningly beautiful. As their story is further revealed I sure hope it isn't a let down in the end.
As for the Flux story so far, I'm liking it. These are the type of stories as a fan I wanted to see and that have been sorely lacking during Jodie's Doctor.
The Maurei are based on the Greek legend of the fates.
I genuinely think that if series 13 sticks the landing then Swarm could really become one of the most iconic and best villain new who has ever done. The design, the acting, the presence, the menace, spectacular work.
wholly and truly obsessed with these two, absolutely stunning designs all around. incredible how they managed to make these intimidating yet genuinely beautiful characters.
Man Yondu looks a lot different than the last time I saw him
I think what works with swarm wasn't just his immense power and ability to just dust people at a touch, but it's his predatory personality teamed with his articulate speach and utter glee at tormenting
I love this flux story, 'whats going on' and weeping angles💕💕💕
The two best original villains since the Silence. Love them. Such a great screen presence.
My money's on the weeping angels being used into sucking them back in time,
Seeing such a positive comment section is so refreshing
I’m honestly loving the specials so far! This is really fun to watch
Swarm and Azure really thought "We should get some drip before we destroy reality"
Swarm and Azure are just Doctor Who costumers telling cosplayers "good luck"
Creepy menacing and so chaotic love them
okay but can we take a moment to appreciate the MIRACLE WORKERS that are the makeup team!!!
Sam Spruell is a big Hollywood name by the way. I'm so happy he's here
who is the big guy with Swarm & Azure? I think they called him the Passenger?🤔
I was not expecting Swarms and Azures Actors too look like that
Especially Azure
Wait...feed off of chaos? Doctor fighting them before?
Is this the Trickster's Brigade, Pantheon of Discord?
Been watching the Doctor since 1963 and this already looks like one of the best stories I've seen. Swarm and Azure, fantastic, plus some old faves. Loving it😄
They seem like the cenebites from Hellraiser, especially Azure reminds me of the women cenebite from Hellraiser, they act the same nearly.
Honestly... my favourite new villians for a LONG time. They are awesome
Every other Chibnall villain < Swarm < Evil Dan
Swarm and Azure look a lot like the demon Pazuzu from The Exorcist. I kept expecting to hear Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells when they appear.
It has just hit me that they're really similar to Time Lords. I wouldn't go so far as to say they are Time Lords but they could be some sort of offshoot. Or they are in fact the Timeless Children.
Right at the start, Swarm was in a completely different form and was 'renewed' (wink wink, probably) into his current form. Almost exactly like how Time Lords regenerate.
We later see Azure in her human form in the Arctic Circle, seemingly unaware of who she really is until Swarm finds her. Again, almost exactly like how Time Lords can rewrite their biology using the Chameleon Arch as a means of hiding.
Also, a more obvious point... they're really obsessed with time.
One of the actors also said in this BTS that they're "from another dimension" ... Accidental slip?
I'd love them to turn out to be the Doctor's kids lol
They probably are Timeless Children or from the same dimension.
I just really hope they make them more compelling going forward because I jist do not care
Fantastic costumes and makeup. They should winan Emmy Award.
loving this season, loving the swarm and azure and loving Jodie. x
This is a phenomenal series. Definitely Chibnall's best!
The Ravagers love the facial art work . They give to me a carnival look with pretty jewel stare. I hope we get to know about them more if possible they'll return plus John Bishop he does get them lines that really makes you know he's Dan and he 's still from Liverpool.
Hearing Swarm and Azure being described as beings that kill with absolute pleasure and the absolute opposite of the doctor reminds me of the Master.
Master loves torturing the Doctor because he knows The Doctor is the only one capable of stopping him but also respects him for being a genius.
@@turnermarius4471 I loved when Missy said "I want to know we are not so different" to the Doctor. After all they were friends. This pair is something else. Great acting...
I really love these villains. Also, I'm going to be heartbroken when the 13th regenerates. She and the 12th Doctor are my top favorites.
So, one of them's called Azure and the other backwards is Mr AWS. Not a coincidence
Anyone other than Cybermen, Daleks, and Sontaran's as adversaries is a plus.
Sam is right, Swarm *is* a Baddie
Spoilers if you haven't seen the episode, but here are a few questions I had regarding the writing of the episode.
Why did Yaz get teleported to the same place as the guy? Seems too convenient.
Why does the sontaren door open for Dan?
Why did the sontarens go to shoot Dan on the spot, when previously we were shown sontarens collecting prisoners to execute together?
How did the General lay a massive trail of gunpowder without the doctor noticing?
Also where did he get all the fun powder from?
Why was the ending the same as The Christmas Invasion?
Although the answer the that one is that Chris struggles to write compelling new ideas, so instead sometimes likes to resort to copying previous work. Just like how in Revolution Of the Daleks he copied Blood of the Daleks. Good job Chris
The Sontarans decided to shoot Dan on the spot because they were afraid that if they went through their typical ceremonial traditions, Evil Dan would have a chance to not only escape, but kill all of them. _“What’s the point in being alive?”_ [boom] _“I’m good at this. Ha hooo”_
Of course, Evil Dan ended up doing that anyway
1) assumingly by Swarm manipulating the time energy around her, or by the pyramid triangles or by the TARDIS, I think it'll be revealed later (my theory is it was the Mouri, manipulating time and space for their help, sending Dan to Liverpool to deal with the Sontarans, and Yaz to Time, to meet Vinder), and stranger coincidences have happened in Doctor Who like I said, to be revealed most likely
2) Same way it did for Donna in series 4, spock hands
3) He had actually broken into a ship and knocked out the guards, so i think he was more of a threat than the others who basically wandered onto the compound, also I'm sure than after seeing Dan in that room, Ritskaw would have grabbed an execution squad and gone straight there
4) The soldiers are actually carrying barrels in that scene, so clearly that was the gunpowder layed at the bottom of the ships, what was trailed I believe was liquor from The British Hotel, highly flammable, I don't think it matters how the Doctor didn't notice script wise, why would the Doctor ask how? It would make no sense, I think the general had a spool of explosive trailing stuff and trailed it up the hill while being a few feet away from the DoctoR
5) Like I said, barrels and the crimean soldiers used gunpowder for their muskets
6) it was the same ending as christmas invasion? In the crimea it was, not in the present day. Nothing is wrong with redoing old scenes in different contexts, the show has been doing that for centuries.
7) I believe the term you are searching for is inspired, inspired by Blood of the Daleks, as it had many different factors to it. Major differences include:
It's on earth
The Daleks in ROTD were called there, where in BOTD they were already there
In BOTD the Daleks were created for nefarious purposes by a mad scientist, in ROTD the first one was created out of curiosity, then the rest were created by the first
The security drones were an entirly original concept (them actually being security drones, not Daleks posing as security drones)
ROTD is a direct sequel to Resoloution, while BOTD is a standalone story
I could go on, are their basic plots similar? Yes, very both clone dalek races pitted against the true dalek race. This is in no way different to the direct correlation between Power of the Daleks and Victory of the Daleks.
@@DoctorWhoHugh I'll give you some of the points like Donna doing it in season 4, I did forget about that.
However the blood of the Daleks point, I was mainly referring to the conversation between the regular daleks and the black Daleks in the bridge, just before they start shooting at each other. That conversation is almost exactly lifted from BotD with very minor changes. Felt very lazy to me. Same with the comparison to the Christmas Invasion. It was mainly the conversation at the end.
*Aliens leaving
*Human does an action which leads to the destination if the alien race
*The doctor saying "why did you do that they were leaving". It's basically the same. Furthermore, trail of gunpowder or liquor (either way doesn't matter), is important because the doctor was surprised that it happened, but didn't notice them setting it up? Seems contrived.
As for the teleportation, since those are just guesses because she show hasn't given us answers yet, it feels very contrived watching it without those answers.
One of the best design and costume for all Doctor Who !
I really want to know more of them, the potential around them is very interesting. Swarn and Azur can be really be iconic.
I love these two. Best villains of the Whittaker/Chibnall era.
swarm and azure are fantastic! cannot wait for more of them!
I don't know if this is what the designers were going for, but the first thing I thought of when I saw Swarm and Azure was Sugar Skulls (most commonly seen around Dia de Muertos [Day of the Dead]).
i have been waiting for this vid!!! I wonder if the head gear is heavy? it looks heavy... but the costumes are totally beautiful!!
Honestly the best new era villains yet (excluding the master ofc) I will admit though the actual physical look of them doesn’t scream doctor who to me but OH WELL
Have you to seen Hand Of Fear? Eldrad would disagree.
Long live Doctor Who !!!
I keep forgetting there's actual people under those costumes and makeup. That's how good these actors are!
So far a top tier villain I actually like azure and swarm.
Ok I desperately want to meet these two in real life! They seem like such great people and are so talented
0:49 He was in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
I love how everyone was thinking that Chibnall was going to retcon the Timeless Child arc just because they didn’t like it in series 13… First episode: references to the timeless child, the memory erase of the doctor and the division 😂
It's, as of yet, a plot hole. Until it is explained, I think there is gonna be a huge number of people who aren't simply gonna like it and that is justified. Yet for some reason you are here laughing at them for caring about continuity. It was the Doctor, who chose the name "Doctor" himself, sure he/she could be a reincarnation of someone prior (like Rassilon) but they wouldn't be known as the Doctor before him picking the name. Also, regeneration needs vortex enegry or some exposure from the time vortex to work as well, it is not just genetic as oversimplified in the Timeless Children. River Song got regeneration abilities from the time vortex and that's also how it has been explained since the 1st Doctor regenerated. Also Fugitive Doctor can't be a prior incarnation not only because of the name but also because she has a Police Box TARDIS which she couldn't possibly have unless she is the Doctor after the events of An Unearthly Child where the TARDIS gets stuck for the first time, or a Doctor from another timeline. I think they are planning to fix the plot holes and in the writers' minds they must have just been story elements which is odd ngl. But yeah don't laugh at people for trying to retain continuity.
@Tom Meehan In my understanding "the TARDIS" has been interpreted as meaning the Time Vortex since the TARDIS travels through it and the regenerative effect is created as time passes by.
@@jimi4985 okay you just proved by point. Some of this fan base is just to easy to trigger. This thing is not incoherent and we don’t’ have the all thing yet. The only problem now is the fact that Ruth, a past Doctor, has a tardis which have a form of a police box.
@@jimi4985 and wait for Ruth. We don’t even have an explanation !!! Maybe she is from the past or the future but we will have explanations ! Don’t say « it’s bad » you don’t even know the all story ! How ridiculous…
@@Parzi_Val_ At what point did I say "it's bad"? That is an oversimplification of the arguments made. Many Whovians have brought up the plot holes and there is a reasonable explanation of why they are plot holes and shouldn't be ignored. The critique isn't "it's bad", it's "it doesn't make any sense." And is this fan base easy to trigger? Well are you trying to? Is that a goal of yours? Why? It is easy to trigger for sure, which is because of the absense of the Fan Show, and the questionable writing over the past 3 years, but I am trying to have a reasonable conversation here, not trigger someone or say that something is completely bad when there are just issues with it. I think, as a concept, the Doctor being a reincarnation of a sort of "universally required" being like the Timeless Child, is a cool one. And to some extent he has always been that in the past, only that it hasn't been directly explained. When it then was in the Timeless Children, I thought it was cool they did it, but they didn't have to make so many plot holes while doing it. I'm not just talking about the Fugitive Doctor one. (who by the way was referred to be a previous Doctor in the Timeless Children, as non-sensical of a claim as that is) They also said that regeneration is only a genetic ability and originates only from the Timeless Child, when it is clearly not genetic and never has been. I get that you enjoy watching Doctor Who very much, but I doubt having it make sense wouldn't actually take away from your enjoyment, now would it?
Should’ve been Azure, AWS and GCP
I have favourite makeup designs for movies and tv, 3rd is Silurian from Doctor Who, 2nd is Nebula from GotG and 1st is this swarm makeup
The design looks amazing tho
But who is the passenger??? arggghhhh he's just standing there!

Swarm and Azure might be my favourite villains in the show! Also, liking Vinder so far. The Passenger looks really creepy, too.
Azure's actor said azure was from another dimension.. way to go to reveal that the doctor swarm knew was possibly from another dimension
Fairly sure Chibs mentioned that already
We already knew this, The Master said that the Timeless Child was seemingly thrown from “another dimension or universe” when we see the Child by the portal.

I definitely loved the ravagers in this series cannot deny that chibnall for once got me hooked on the screen
Havent been this intrigued by Villains in Doctor Who for a long time
John bishop and Dan, his character, are the same person and you can’t tell me otherwise
I'm sorry but you missed the "Evil" in front of Dan when showing John Bishop.
I missed the scene in the first episode of Flux that took place in the 1800s. Did they cut it for American broadcast?
I wonder if Azure escaped Rick Sanches' ship battery some how? Aesthetically she gives off a Zeep Xanflorp vibe. Usually the homages are the other way around; appropriated from Doctor Who and incorporated some how into Rick and Morty.
The actress for Azure said "an alien from another dimension." To me that confirms that her and Swarm are from the same universe as The Timeless Child
What I'm still curious about is Passenger
When i see them, all i can think of is 'Mars Attacks!'
An inter-dimensional creature that feeds on Chaos? Either related to the trickster or Chibbers forgot about the Trickster - I like the performances though.
They’ve been bloody brilliant so far!
Different dimension? Doesn't that kind of spoil that they're from the portal the doctor came from?
I called it
I think they mentioned that in that written interview before this series even aired. It's interesting what they keep hidden and what they don't.
