He covered Dave Weckl years ago and he's covered some incredibly difficult songs over the years. In no order and don't know what tier I'd place them but further down would be the drummer for Inferi, Stephen Moore I think is his name, he is creative and fun to watch. And while not as technical and not as versatile, there are some incredibly fast guys out there, Eugene Ryabchenko? (Forgive the spelling) from Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Great drumming this album is my favorite 2015 album by so far !! I've listening it at least twice a day, I really love it. I would like a Lot if you could make a playthrough of Sol Omega or Carbon Phrases.
In these sequences where you might think he just beats the drums mindlessly and super fast, it is crazy to recognize that he inserts these slight variations by hitting the middle of the hat every few hits - apart from that i really love the breaks, where he changes the beat in split-seconds!
Love Muenzner's playing HG and Bobby Jarzombek are on another level. Both have played/are playing in bands with Ron Jarzombek. Check out Spastic Ink the mad data race off the Ink Complete album...some of the fastest most technical drumming out there . The drummers that mix tech death with heavy prog metal, are in a different world
Hannes is a Fucking MONSTER!! See, I'm a musician, a guitarist primarily. Can play bass as well & my (non-clean) vocals aren't bad. Usually when I listen to music, I do it with a musician's ear & hear all the elements which go into the piece; most of the time I will hone in on the guitars a bit more than the other instruments. However, when it's ANYTHING Hannes is a part of (even if I didn't see his name in the line-up or whatever before listening to it) my focus goes straight to that drumming! Even when the other instruments are out of this world, as they are in Alkaloid's music, I lock onto the drumming; it takes effort on my part to shift just SOME focus away from the drumming and give the composition as a whole more focus. I have to admit, that's actually quite a feat commanding that much of my attention on an instrument I have only (poorly) dicked around on occasionally in music stores. His "solo" album Apophenia will surely be on my personal Album Of The Year list for 2019. Jeff Loomis is featured on the first track, but I didn't realize it till I saw his name on the track-list. So... there you go. Jeff's goddamn unstoppable & (if she'd let me) I would pimp out my wife to him if he would give me some private guitar lessons. That's not a standing offer, she already shot down that idea. :-D I put on some Hannes Grossmann & it's like I'm Animal the Muppet drummer & they gave him the Googly-Eyes of Cookie Monster! I take off my wristwatch so I can air drum like someone possessed: makes for great endurance conditioning, as any stick-slinger can attest to. Suffice it to say that without question, Hannes is easily my favorite drummer of all time & for good reason. I'm friends with a few drummers & if you mention Hannes Grossmann they simply smile & shake their head like, "Holy fuck, that guy's unbelievable/he can't be human." but they can't get the words out. Dude's some kind of fucking cross between a cephalopod & a perpetual motion machine trapped in human form! Not to mention his production work on releases is top-notch & sound great: they have a balanced, organic sound & reflect professional work. Damn, I sound like I have a man-crush or some shit. He's just a fucking BEAST!

From a laymans/not drummer perspective, it sounds during the crazy blasts the double kick was "doubling" the snare. Visual proves not the case. Is he so on time that he's just hitting the "up beat" or "down beat" opposite of the snare? of whatever division, have you, 64th, 32nd etc...
there are two different types of blastbeats in this songs. you have those very fast blast beats where the kick plays exactly the same as the snare and then there is this kind of slower blastbeat (called skank beat) where snare and kick are alternating.
it is not doubling... for blast beasts, it us ually is between the kicks, like a single stroke roll divided between hands and feet. there is the bomb blast tho, where you double the feet, in that case, it would be correct. but it is not the case here.
