RIP Steve Clark. He was Def Leppard. He contributed 90 percent of the song writing’s and guitar solos from when the band got together till he passed away 1991. Gone but never forgotten. We love and miss you.
Not "90%" but quite a bulk of songwriting.
I agree ... We never got enough of Steve !!! 😭😭😭
Steve Clark
Never forgotten
80s was the most diverse decade in music history. Also the best. So many popular genres.
When it comes to def leppard and joe elliot I think the word you are looking for is PERFECT
Maybe somebody said this. But, the drummer lost his left arm in a car accident. The band stuck with him and he is still playing in the band, including this song. 🙂
Probably my favorite band. The drummer is awesome and has one arm!! He's fantastic!
Problem is today songs are written by algorythms not musicians so there is a severe lack of feeling (humanity) in them.
Haha, 25 years ago, I also expected the title track to this album to be heavy, and instead found this. It converted me from a big fan to realizing they were my favourite band - that’s still the case to this day.
…and you’re the first person I’ve heard in all these years that also loved the “dream me off my feet” line - perfect.
"anemoia" (uncountable) (neologism, uncommon) Nostalgia for a time or a place one has never known
Def Leppard were a quintessential 80's rock band, but they said they felt musically closer to pop bands like Duran Duran than heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden... Their 1987 album 'Hysteria' actually outsold Michael Jackson's 'Bad' album by 1989. It came after the tragedy of their drummer Rick Allen losing his arm in a car accident in late 1984 at age 21... He spent over a year in recovery and learned to play drums w/ 1 arm & 2 feet (which he does in this music video) and returned to the stage in 1986 on drums w/ Def Leppard, and is still in the band.
Musically, Def Leppard were big fans of pop rock bands like Mott the Hoople and Blondie... as well as Queen (who inspired their vocal harmonies) and David Bowie... They debuted in 1980 w/ a guitar-driven album 'On through the night'... but explored more elaborate pop rock influences w/ the 2nd album "High n' dry" (1981)... 'Pyromania' (1983) became a huge hit in America, selling 10 million copies.
After a long hiatus following Rick Allen's car accident, Def Leppard made a futuristic-sounding record 'Hysteria' in 1987 that sold 12 million copies in the US and brought the band back from financial ruin.
Sadly, the next album was delayed by guitarist Steve Clark and his battle w/ sobriety and addiction. He died in early 1991 after a long struggle. Def Leppard completed the 'Adrenalize' album by 1992 w/ guitarist Phil Collen playing all of Clark's parts, and then guitarist Vivian Campbell joining to take Clark's spot. 'Adrenalize' and the 1996 album 'Slang' were even more pop-oriented than Def Leppard's 80's records, and the band's popularity declined in the 90's.
Def Leppard remade their rock sound in 1999 w/ the 'Euphoria' album... then tried another pop album 'X' in 2002.
In 2005, their 'best of' double CD 'Rock of ages' (and covers album 'Yeah!') made a huge comeback for Def Leppard, and their concerts and record sales surged. in the next 2 decades... They released fairly successful albums 'Songs from the Sparkle Lounge' (2009) ... 'Def Leppard' (2015) and 'Diamond star halos' (2022)... Def Leppard just completed a stadium tour of the US and plan to tour Europe and South America in 2023.
Pwwwwwah 🤣 whatever...... Duran Duran
@@Shaman196 What's wrong w/ Duran Duran, dingus?😈
I grew up with this!
Senior in high school when this came out. 1987
I love your reactions and your personality is awesome. 🙂
Dear Rana, very nice reaction! Deaf Leppard are an awesome band and they were really huge in the 80ies. Although this is one of their softer songs and I'm more into their heavier stuff, it's still a good song.
By the way, you are looking so cute and adorable with this outfit (of course you are always very pretty:-)), I love it ❤️
Great reaction
That's why THAT was their #1. Total banger.
Welcome to the 80's music, the best era in my opinion 🤘👍👏
Hi sweet Giddy how are you ? Nice to see another great reaction
❤
Saw them live in 92, great band. They have another ballad type song from the same album you might like called Love Bites.
Can't wait until you get around to doing my request... I think you are going to love it and the message it wants to spread.
What did you request my bro?
If you've ever had a nervous breakdown, fool, you'd know that you just didn't have "so many nervous breakdowns"!🙄
80's , age of the ROCK ARENA GODS!
Yah!! When I first heard the song back in '87, I was also expecting a Banger Rock Tune, based on title.
Surprise-Surprise !! Heavy Ballad.
The rest is History !! Hellova Great Song !!!
Dont forget to use your heart and MIND
Love this one. My fav is still Bringing On The Heartbreak.
Oooh, yeah. Good call. Must be listened to with switch 625 though, imho.👍
@@TheRetroManRandySavage Definitely!
@@jimspetdragons3737 what a combo.🤟😜
80s music was fun, I loved the glam rock bands!😊 But, the golden era of rock was '65-'75!🔥 We changed the world....
the music united us.💯😁❤️✌️
The word you is thinking of is TALENT
So damn beautiful!
Greatest of all time
Great reaction to a great band and my all time favorite song. 😀😃😄😁
If they wanted to get radio air time, they had to keep the song under a certain time.
The production on this album is down to the immense genius of Robert John 'Mutt' Lange.
❤❤❤
My favourite DL song!✌️IMO the whole Hysteria album is a masterpiece!!!!
so cute
DEFLEPPARD IS AN AWESOME GROUP
You should hear Lydia's Castle!
You need to check out Def Leppard's songs Pour Some Sugar On Me , Love Bits , Woman , Rocket , God's Of War , Animal , Two Steps Behind , Miss You In A Heartbeat , Long Long Way To Go , Stand up Kick Love Into Motion , White Lighting & from their new album Diamond Star Halos that came out earlier this year Take What You Want .
The other day I was hearing random song on Spotify and apparently I didn’t know ASAP Rocky ft rod steward anyway definitely check it out
INXS and Def Leppard were my favorite 80's bands. Check out Need You Tonight by INXS!
Check out dire straights live sultans of swing and telegraph road
First and last time watching this person. I made it less than a minute before she annoyed beyond acceptable levels.
"Animal" is also good.
More 80's. Check out "Bryan Adams - Run To You".
Here's some old school
Pink Floyd - Money
Led Zeppelin - Black Dog
AC/DC - Back in Black
Def Leppard is a great band. This is a good song but they have SO MANY better songs that you should react to. Bringing on the Heart Break is one of my favorites.
Someone does feel that way about you Rana, that's me!!❤ I'm in love with GiddyKitty Reactions!
In 80s metal, rock, punk, pop so full of fun and enjoy, not like rock song for now, so many dramatic lyric, broken, and depress 😢. Thanks mom and dad give me permission to hear music from your era.
Hysteria 1987 , listen at 15 years old...DEF LEPPARD Is Not metal band but Good Rock/Hard Rock band.
I've been single for 28 years
When you’re in a mellow mood check out Trisha Yearwood’s, The Song Remembers When.
And since you’re young also watch the official video to Bob Seger’s, Like a Rock.
I'm just saying you found a treasure. Def-records between '83 and '92 are perfect, but the later records are also good.
Hi Giddty Did you notice the one armed drummer @ 7:31?
watch her reaction to Pour Some Sugar On Me
You look cute with that hat on, Baby……😍😍😍😍😍
you have to check out "Women" for a heavier song and more powerful guitar solos!!!!
80s song is the best
Heaviest trhey've got is probably "pour some sugar on me"
Not even close. By the time the Hysteria album came out they was more pop rock.
Everything on their first three albums is heavier than sugar.
Wasted, rocks off, let it go and high n dry is the heaviest they ever went.
Give them a listen, you'll be surprised how heavy those songs are.👍
Hi Giddy can you please react to "I'll get by" by Eddie Money.
Go back further, late 60's and all of the 70's,
More would have ruined it it’s perfection the way they played it
Pentatonix please 😁😁😁
So…..when are ya gonna do Lil peep? Read about him and his struggles with his mental health and addiction.
I credit Lil Peep for the incredible changes of my mental health.
Star shopping is a great starter for the journey
Leppard is a reock band not heavy metal as Iron Maiden will be. There is a difference.
I would've classed early def leppard as heavy metal. Although, I heard many refer to it as metal or just hard rock.
@@TheRetroManRandySavage because it simply is. No Maiden mate not even close.
So do I I wanna some one too
Music these days is just worn out bubblegum and auto tune. Talent is gone. Few pop musicians these days. Anybody with Macbook can spit a song out. Ya don't have killer vocals like a Steve Perry or Joe Elliott anymore. I mean who could even sound like Brian Johnson of AC/DC. Musicians these days are far and few between too. Show me an Eddie Van Halen or Angus Young. I could create a wider list of talent but you get my drift.
The best song!.-
You should try their song 'love bites' and 'Have you ever needed someone so bad' and 'Photograph' they are all very cool songs
